I went to high school with Kerry. He was a senior when Slayer played at school during lunch on the concrete stage. I remember him wearing red spandex pants and the band playing UFO and Van Halen songs..I thought they were great

I only ever saw Slayer the once live - back in the mid 80s - I can't remember which tour. It was Tom who was the star IMO, coming on stage in a total headbanging, hair flailing frenzy - I had never seen anything like it - and still haven't to this day. RIP Jeff.

I really appreciate hearing the truth 'right from the horse's mouth' so to speak. Kerry is still one of the most intense guitar players I've ever heard; it isn't always about the speed either, sometimes playing the dark chords slowly is even more powerful.
Kerry cracks me up talking about Mustaine at 8:20 saying "that guy is crazy". Its like Knoxville calling Steve-O crazy.
I've met Kerry and the other guys bunches of times in Cleveland working their shows as a volunteer for 8th Day Sound. Awesome dudes. I've volunteered many times for them just so I can go to the shows and go anywhere I want lol

frogtastic1000 Both Hanneman and King played solos that were wrong if analysed in a musical theory sense - in the key of E minor they might be doing runs in G pentatonic or some shit. But that's what makes them different and fun to figure out because you can't predict where exactly those barrage of notes are.

Man back in 1988 when the thrash scene was booming I hung out with this guy for a minute in Phoenix Arizona, and the play I met him was on Central Avenue a drummer Craig Hall from the band Sacred Reich a phoenix band I used to see every time they played brought him the Phoenix and introduce me to him and he was a great guy and very nice. he played a show with them and Jason Newsted before the Black Album came out and afterwards we hung out and he wanted to go to Burger King but it was close so Mayhem and some other guy I didn't know what the Circle K and he just settled for a soft drink as we were walking the guy who was with us said how his rhythms were excellent but his lead work great I remember Kerry laughing and said well it's in the Dorian I know that much. nevertheless Slayer is no joke when it comes to rhythms
