Lombardo is the guy in the band who’s NOT an idiot. There’s a seminar with Q&A where he breaks down why he left slayer for the final time; literally he showed them their own numbers and they were getting robbed blind by all the business associates and they had no idea. Plus when he came back they treated him like a hire-on, which in some cases would apply but not in this case as far as I’m concerned…

Funny story from when i was in 8th grade was these kids in school who really liked Slayer and actually believed Slayer were appraising nazism in their songs. They were also what we called "hobby-nazis", basically stupid kids who mistook the hardcore scene's way of fashion for the neo-nazi movement or sth, and for some reason thought Angel of Death was praising Dr. Mengele. Back in the 80's, when they made the albums that immortalized them, Kerry was the physical manifestation of Slayer's attitude. I have an old modern drummer magazine were Gene Hoglan was interviewed.Saying how he was helping influence Dave with double bass playing back when he was a roadie for slayer.Gene was only a single kick drummer player at that time and his first times on double kick kit were on Daves kit and Gene was just naturally right away kicking ass on double kick from the beginning and Dave was impressed and learned things from Gene

+tweevers2 the sad thing is, the Haunting the Chapel EP has some of the sickest double bass drums in thrash, practically all of Captor of Sin and Haunting the Chapel is solid fast double bass beginning to end, but in the original mixes you can't hear it well at all. I have a remastered splatter vinyl from about 5 or so years ago that sounds amazing you can hear all the double bass.

If they would’ve went forward as “Wings Of Fire” everybody would’ve said, “glad you didn’t pick Slayer!” Lol . Dave is a beast. And I’ll always be kinda pissed how shit went down. Bostaph is a killer drummer. But Lombardo was and is THE Slayer drummer for me. He’s one of the few drummers that when you hear him play, you know it’s Dave Lombardo. No mater what band he’s in. That’s a rarity few drummers possess. I expect Kerry to be a dick. He always has been. But Tom, that really surprised me that he didn’t fight for Dave. Slayer is a “Brand” and a money making machine now. So I understand the business side of it. But it would be nice if Slayer acknowledged their fans when it comes to members. They definitely did good with Gary Holt. Maybe they did learn something. Just think Dave got a really raw deal.

So it was Dave who first went up to Kerry King and said you want to start a band to get Slayer up and running in the first place otherwise Kerry would still be watering lawns somewhere about now, it was Dave's garage they first used for rehearsals, it was Dave who created the iconic Slayer logo, it was Dave who got talking to the legendary Rick Rubin and got Slayer on a big label which help create what is regarded as the greatest thrash album of all time Reign in Blood, it was Dave who helped create Slayers brutal sound with his amazing drumming, he done all this for the band.
And how is he repaid? paid peanuts compared to the rest of the band for fucking years and as the final insult, thrown out of the band he started when he wanted to discussed his shit wages, class act Kerry and Tom, class act.
