"I think a lot of people died in Angel of Death."
"......Well that's fair."
That comment was fucking hilarious
400,000 more to die.....
But they didn’t die on our record
Angel of Death flying free
What does it mean, when people die bc of songs?
Kerry King is like a heavy metal garden gnome
made my day
made my day
made my day
Made my day
Made my day.
Kerry King's eyes have not been seen since 1991
I think he sleeps in them.
They’ve been “abacinate”ed 😎
You mean his 'eye'...... he only has one.
Or his hair since 94.
Wears shades to prevent laser beams from shooting out and decimating fans
The legend says that if kerry ever take off his glasses and you stare him straight into his eyes you goin' blind.
WOAH!
Kerry King does not have eyes. He has Abysses.
+Vonargandur WOAH!!!
Vonargandur xD
ej s I'm crying right now😭😭😭
''There's only me and Tom left.''
Damn, that one hit right in the feels.
"Retirement is long ahead" retires 3years later
LMAO!
"Retires"
Mlp Vinyl thought the same
So they would have you believe...
Got fuckin tickets to the Forum!!
Take a shot every time Kerry adjusts his sunglasses.
I'll be doing that this weekend.
🤘🏼
I'm so drunk right now
RIP my liver
*dies*
“Retirement is still years away”
😢
C t g s l a y e r 4 years later......they retired.
@@FlyingV555that's multiple years.
i feel like this is too short, i could listen to Kerry telling histories the entire day
Yea, me too
Didn't Kerry said that Norwegian black metal was shit?
@@soldadoryanbr7776 all black metal is shit, so he's right
I bought Divine Intervention when it first came out and listened to it over and over. Mix sounded fine to me.
the people who work on the album will always find something they wish they could've done better
What is more, this "dirty", "muddy" guitar sound is in my opinion much better than that on World Painted Blood or Christ Illusion, actually on all post-Divine albums.
Dude I love your fuckin guitar tutorials
It's more of an opinion. They don't like it but some like it.
Yeah I have no issue with it. It has always sounded fine to me also. And yeah I have learned some cool songs on guitar from your videos. You make is easy to pick up and play. \,,/
lol this interview is great. Kerry seems like a really humble chill guy
+lucastrav lol I kno
People say he is a douche but I have met him and he is the nicest guy hes just actually very shy and the reason why people say he is a douche is because they talk shit to him. And then he gives it back to them. And they can’t take it and get their feelings hurt. So than because of that he’s he asshole?? I don’t think so bro. but yeah kerry is a really cool guy.
JackCarlino definitely is a very nice dude. Drove him around in Houston a few times and was a very genuine and nice guy. Had great conversations with him. Was great to have someone I admired and loved for years be that cool.
Ikr he seems like a cool dude
I just love how dry and feels no need to give an inch more than he wants to tell
2:12 Kerry is staring into all of our souls.... I CAN'T MOVE
Zackster fortunately, he didnt remove his glasses. Otherwise we wud have died
0:20 Kerry reaction is still priceless😂😂
Well, I'm impressed. Because of his appearance, I pictured Kerry King as super arrogant, but here he actually seems like a really nice guy! Sincere, funny, down to Earth... Complete opposite of Sebastian Bach in his WFoF for example! Super nice video!
HunterShad He is actually really cool. Like 5-7 years ago he showed up randomly in my hometown of Owensboro KY and was playing in a bar. Owensboro isn't well known at all. And when I went in there he was just sitting at the bar with everyone else. No security, nothing. I sat down and talked to him and the other people for a good hour. Then he got on the bars stage and just played riffs the rest of the time.
Chris Smith Niiiiice. Was he playing alone or with a band?
Shit, and I was imagining a Phil Anselmo-like dude... Couldn't have been more mistaken! =)
HunterShad the time I seen him he was alone but throughout the set he would let someone on stage to play with him for a few minutes. But my dad said he seen him before that in the same place and he just had some random guys with him playing
He is really cool I have met him
I have met Kerry King he actually lived in New London CT for a while. He became a local and used to see him and talk to him often. No rock ego shit. He was down to earth and very nice to me. Mustaine, is now another story....
He’s really awesome, a lot of people say Slayer are mean or not respectful but these guys are just so nice and awesome and really show that metal doesn’t make a person dark or gothic.
But they spread darkness
@@isthisnametaken5058Reflection on death and suffering is an artistic canon. Memento mori, danse macabre, and romantic sonnets about decaying bodies are just few examples. It's nothing new or negative but an updated version of the millennium-old trope. Darkness is part of our existence. In the first part of the interview Kerry says that Slayer didn't invent atrocities they discuss in their lyrics. There are different types of people - some are very sensitive and perceptive to suffering and death. An artistic analysis of the dark sides of the world is kind of therapeutic for them. I don't see it as spreading darkness but a way of dealing with the ugliness of this existence, and getting it out of the system in order to smile and move on. Compassion is a strong emotion that doesn't just let people be. They can ignore the darkness, and they only way to find peace is to face it. This is their way - they are strangers to euphemisms and describe the bare reality of things.
I'd say they brought more light with their discussions of evil than some men of whatever god who stole and abused, while talking about happiness and morals.
Love it --- Graham lets them speak - how it should be done - too many interviewers butt in and spoil the dialogue
+1
bit.ly/2seH0m4
There is no dialogue
the fact that Kerry says retirement is a long ways away makes me stoked for even more slayer stuff
Caleb Heney apparently 3 years is a long time for him
This aged horribly, unfortunately.
"South of Heaven" was the best mixed record of all time.
Saw Slayer sept. 28th 2001 in Paris and we were so grateful they didn't cancelled the show, as opposed to Pantera. Thanks Kerry *beep* King!
I find all slayer listenable. I wish some other bands stayed so hardcore.
Same here. I can have Slayer rolling all day long, I like it all.
Same dude
gregory clewell I like there music , just not all the Satan shit
gregory clewell man I wish I could say the same. I can only listen to like 5 slayer songs before having a headache. And Im a huge metalhead
gregory clewell Yeah like Metalllica
*Kerry sits down to write guitar riff's*
"000-0-0-0-0-0-0-00000000000000-000-00-00-0-0-0-0"
" Alright half an album done :D ! "
Are you on drugs? That's meshsuggah. Slayers more like 666-6-6-6-66-6-6-66-6 in a 66/6 timing
What string? Should have just said e string
E string? you mean DROP Q STRING IT ONLY PLAYS ONE NOTE
HEAAAAAAAAAAVVVVYY MEEEETTTTAAALLL
HDGsAHAHA
E, F, G, and Bb.
Divine intervention has great material on it. Underrated. While the other big 4 bands, and even Testament, made more "radio friendly" albums at that point, Slayer said "fuck you all, we are Slayer" and recorded some of their most vicious songs ever.
It was good, but I ultimately think that's what caused them to retire first out of the big 4. They never allowed themselves to do anything else, where as the other bands, mostly Metallica and Anthrax, changed their sound and are still kicking ass today.
Metallica isn’t good anymore and Anthrax has always sucked ass though. Metallica went south after …And Justice for All and Anthrax was never good to me. As well as those, Dave Mustaine might still be playing, but maybe he shouldn’t be. Megadeth started going downhill after Rust in Peace (Countdown to Extinction was good but they peaked at RIP and started rapidly deteriorating) and have been dragging Vic Rattlehead’s lifeless body through the mud for almost 20 years now. Slayer never went bad and retired on their own terms.
@connerriccardi2424 man slayer fans just hate music
His beard looks like CGI
Miguel Mella Jesus fuck, it does
High budget cgi forsure

Does he wax his head? He looks like a tattooed cue ball
Kerry King is such a solid dude. Bet he's a blast to hang out with.
Dude is so chill! I bet he's a blast to hangout with.
Huh, Divine intervention is one of my favorite albums. I've always loved the guitar tone on it.
It’s ok but lacks aggression.
Four years later, still smiling.
Media: Slayer is satanic!
Reality: Both Tom and Dave are Catholic.
Catholicism was likely born of Satanism- look at the glamour, opulence and dark themes in the designs at the Vatican alone, we've all been duped...
@@davethegaultney224 true, the catholic papacy was born out of the rosacutians who were a pagan satanic cult of world leaders who masqueraded as Christians to make their agenda more palatable to the public. My point is that Tom and Dave are Christians, Real christians.
I keep forgetting about Dave. They take it seriously
@@davethegaultney224 as a professional academic historian, I'm asking you to stop posting.
Please.
I'll pay you if necessary
@@DrJ-hx7wv I have no idea what you're talking about, but will gladly take your money.
While I'm not necessarily a huge Slayer fan, they have some good parts. As far those of you making fun of him for his riffs, let's see any of you pick up a real guitar and write anything that sells even close to what Slayer has sold. Your comments make me think you actually don't play guitar yourself. As a player myself, I appreciate his skill more.
He’s easily one of the greatest guitar players of all time, some people just feel a need to talk shit about something they could never dream of accomplishing.🤘
Riff wise, Kerry King is good. Solo wise? Not so much. Kahler abuse out the ass. I was bigger fan of how Jeff Hanneman structured his leads, especially on Seasons In The Abyss.
He is not one of the greatest of all time but he is good.
I never really follow that logic. Just because I'm not a musician doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between who's good and not good. Kerry is a good songwriter, not a good soloist. Since when does selling albums prove how good you are? Metallica's Load album sold over million in the U.S. alone. Does that make it a great album?
@@allsystemsgo8678 Load is great album. Very different than Metallica's albums before, but great. St. Anger is first Metallica bad album (very bad I must say).
Just started binge watching this series. Devildriver/Coal Chamber? New sub. This is awesome!
Or Coal Chamber?
I picked up God Hates Us All on the day it came out, 9/11 and blasted it throughout that day. something about not hearing or seeing a single thing in the sky (next to an active airport) just seemed right as I thought to myself "since no one knows whats going on, and 3 planes just crashed into buildings, listening to that album is a great way to go out!"
Why does everyone tell me this guy is an asshole? He's fucking awesome.
Divine Intervention is one of my top 3 favorite albums of all time.
I was at the gig in London and was so happy slayer still came over to play after September 11th ... I never forget that slayer didn't shit it and came and kicked arse ... slayer rule
My favorite Slayer song is off of Divine Intervention. Fictional Reality.
Underrated album
South of heaven and God Hates us All were my favorite
Me too!
Mine are probably show no mercy and reign in blood
I always liked Divine Intervention’s rawness. Made it more atmospheric imo
The man the myth the legend! Kerry King! RIP Jeff Hanneman and Dimebag!
RIP Vin
I have the strong feeling that Kerry is just a Diglett in disguise ... would explain the sunglasses and beard :/
Been waiting for this. Great Job.
Nice profile pic
Slayer, racist? Um...Tom is Chilean...Dave is Cuban...
Dejoblue. That doesn't really mean shit...
adt2695 lmao yea it does.
3nderoX. Not really.
A Briton It's just more common where I'm from for white people to be racist against spanish. Sometimes I forget racism is different in different parts of the country.
3nderoX spanish people are white. Are you refering to hispanics of mestizo decent like tom araya? Or actual spainards? Because ive never in my life seen a "white person" be racist to a spainard.
"Archaic" means old.
Not ready for retirement. Haha. They put on one hell of a farewell show.
God Hates us All was an amazing album it really fits with that incident
I wonder why they mentioned every album except Diabolus In Musica. I love that one
I can’t be the only one that died of laughter at 0:21. 😂😂
Take a shot when he says fair
kerry seems like an awesome dude
It's weird how Rick Rubin is this God-like producer and Kerry and Slipknot both say he was never around
TJ KNOT The guys from Muse didn’t like him either.
they bleeped out one fuck, but not the rest? wtf, hahaha!
It's because UA-cam doesn't like "sensitive" words in the beginning of videos.
Kerry is such a nice, normal guy. You could sit in the pub and have a beer with him.
I want this dude's job, research bullshit on Wikipedia, and ask famous musicians if it's bullshit or not! S.M.H.
Remix of Divine Internevtion? I'M ALL IN!
So what about retirement?
*Kerry* told you i got half an album Done.
*After a year* slayer announces final tour.
Then a second final tour lol
He also said, *he* was ready to keep going, but he'd wait to see what Tom said.
Eh there going to be like kiss. Fucking 20 farewell tours.thats ok by me. Happily see everyone that comes near me.FUCKING PLAYER
Slayer! Waiting for new album!
"Steve Huey of AllMusic has commented in his review for Reign in Blood that Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman's demented soloing often mimics the screams of the songs' victims."
I had to look it up 'cause it felt to me like it was taken out of context. And it really was.)
Can't believe Kerry had long hair once
Long in the back. Lol
Divine Intervention, is a damn masterpiece, of brutal thrash. So is Repentless! Let's get high!!!
Carsten Tilsgren Agree my friend
"Repentless"
"Masterpiece"
Lol
The "new" record ended up coming out Sept. 11, 2015.
Divine Intervention got me in to Slayer so i fuckin love that album. Can´t understand the bad review to that album. It´s a fuckin killer!
Azgore I was into the Welcome To Hell album by Venom, it was great to sniff glue to, then met someone who had the vinyl of Hell Awaits, this is about 1986, and I was like "wtf, this is amazing" and it turned out they also had Show No Mercy, Live Undead and Haunting The Chapel. Shortly afterwards I went into an independent record store and bought Reign In Blood (along with Prong-Force Fed and Join The Army by Suicidal Tendencies, weird how you remember stuff like this 30 years later) and Reign In Blood was the most beautifully brutal thing I'd heard since buying Discharge-Why? when I was 14
time for me to give Divine Intervention another spin, I think
You could say it was a SLAYER.
He didn't say the songs were bad, just the mixing. Divine does sound off
The problem is the mix and I agree with him. The songs are fine.
Not all reviews were bad it was mixed I think all slayer albums are amazing.
man ! what a cool guy man ! so down to earth! such an awesome video bro thanks !
I see a lot of people making light of how Kerry said he wants to keep touring, but they called it quits just last’s year. I think it was mostly down to Tom because he has so many health issues and a family who he cares deeply about. Not gonna rag on him but I believe that’s the mean reason why Slayer are calling it quits.
Metal In Your Head Agree me to my friend
Kerry King is an Awesome Musician to Interview I Love Slayer, I remember seeing them in Philly back in 1988 Tower Theater(Yes I am getting Old),but I remember them saying to the Crowd,Beleive what you want to Believe if what you hear if we are Satanists or not,We just Play the Music that We Love to Play for All of You.I Don't make the Decision where I go when I Die,I just want to Enjoy the Music that Slayer puts Out for my Enjoyment in My Life, Thank you Kerry "Fuckin' King Long Live Slayer, my Youth was Dominated by Slayer.
Divine Intervention Is the Best Slayers Record for me!!!!
Alfa Thulana it was for 94 saw them 3x on that tour
The first question is so good lol
His look is epic.
The Bam Bam Bigelow look?
I've heard Kerry and Tom both say that they're unhappy with divine intervention. I think that is one of their best ones.
I liked it simply because it was my first exposure to Slayer. Got it after seeing the video for Dittohead back in 94 I think it was. Got into Metallica first, then Megadeth, then Slayer.
I for one would be up for a remixing/mastering of Divine Intervention
4:16...not just Slayer's greatest record, but Metal's greatest. Severely underrated, even by the Kingslayer himself.
Call me crazy, but "Divine Intervention" is probably my fav Slayer album. My dad got me the tape when the album came out and it was the first complete Slayer i've ever heard. Maybe that's why, but still.
U crazy! 🤪
I like they way he described his performances around the time of 9/11 as something they wanted to jump on a plane and do immediately for the audiences ,so they could experience ,"Fun and release"
I can't take anyone seriously who claims to be a Slayer fan and yet calls the album Raining Blood. Reign in Blood!
Opening question. That was Jeff using a CryBaby given to him by Kerry.
I just threw a pack of popcorn on my keyboard and it hit the play button and Repentless came on
Legend.
God dont hate us ,god gave us slayer, thank u god.
"i wanna do two three years on this [album] , jump right back into the studio and do another two three years touring"*announces split 3 years later... well looks like that ain't happening but they are doing another tour which is nice
kerry fidgets with his sun glasses way to much haha
I was in the Army on 911 (a bit before and a good while after). My Walkman (CD's were shit, you had to record them onto tape if you wanted to be able to listen to them on the sly and not have it skip) ONLY PLAYED THIS TAPE! That was untill I got a SANSA, iPOD and anything else I could put my PURCHASED and archived Slayer collection on...
This Album still gets note-for-note play in my house. Fuckin Slayer...
Rick Rubin was so lazy, Metallica just skipped having him... and had their Engineer become the producer on Hardwired...
I'm not sure Rick cares at all anymore.
Cody Granrud he turned into a silly guru
The mix on Death Magnetic was pretty bad.
He has no reason to care anymore, look at his discography and how rich he is now. I wouldn’t care much
He’s still making hit records just not in the world of metal
That explains why 13 by Black Sabbath sucked.
Divine Intervention is my Favorite Slayer album by far.
I'd like to hear his version of what happened with Lombardo.
Graham 'Gruhamed' Hartmann looks like he's about to shit his pants here.
Kerry King is a great guy and a Legend.
Kerry sportin the Billy Gibbons beard. Great interview!
I feel like it’s so weird when he looks directly at the camera
Dammit I want to see Slayer open for Megadeth. That would be a kick ass bill.
Slayer used to be like... I can't wait what is the next album to be about, because there is a lot of touchy topics to watch, the intensity I guess touches you or should I say THRASH? I think we should see at least one single in the year '23 because touring for a long period is like practice, writing, recording, session, live, listening, have bandmates do the symphony/orchestra things (qute on quote); and at least try do it when weather feels good again, maybe atmosphere not doing sick things is good athmosphere with metal instruments going wham! wham.
Love Slayer! You to Kerry! Chris Canfield, Captain Howdy, Pay it forward.
11:01 Kerry does that George Costanza arm thing, where George pretended that he had random arm movements.
That would be funny if KK recorded the solo taking a dump. Was good shit indeed!
It's so ridiculous loudwire bleeps the curses. We're watching a Slayer "video" for god's sake.
4:35
jared blackawitz I see what you did there!!!
They didn't censor Tom's interview.
KFK is the coolest guy ever, everyday
"my leads are archaic". that means like ancient and outdated (i didn't google it, but off the top of my head that's what it means... and i did good on my verbal SATs so i'm probably in the ballpark). i guess kerry meant chaotic? anarchic?
Well they are archaic, he sucks compared to the other guitarists of the big 4...
R.I.P Slayer
I’m listening to this on a speaker when the host talks o turn the volume up because I can’t hear him but then Kerry talks and I gotta turn it down!😭
Saw them in Germany in 2011 with Cradle of Filth, Biohazard and a couple of other bands - one of the best Slayer shows I've been too. Only disappointment was that there was no Pantera-show (and, of course, there would never be one again after that).
