Some like to hate on the Vararam. I've got one and have for about 8 years/40,000 or so miles. I've had no issues at all. My tuner has had no issues with it either. Apparently, in some cases, they say it creates too much turbulence going in to the MAF and can throw off the readings. I do agree the Svede is better- mostly because it relocates the IAT. But both are absolutely better than that K&N hot air intake (which is what mine had when I bought it).
I want a 2006 GTO, but the thing is, it’ll be a 20 year old car by the time I get it. I want to mod the hell outta it to look like a 2020-somethin car. Would it be worth it??
The over radiator intake is horrible. Heat Soak. In a traffic jam it just sucks hot air from the engine bay. Even worse when you reverse and hot air comes back through the rad into the filter the car cuts out Best intake is through the inner wing where the air box used to be, and filter behind bumper.
It’s a Z06, it’s more of a better platform and popular than the GTO, but the GTO is cheaper overall and less of a risk when it comes to insurance than the c6 z06. So that is ultimately up to you, but the GTO is a safer start up.

If 93 octane gas is available where you're located...a 93 octane tune will get you a noticeable increase in the amount of ass that gets kicked when your intention is to kick ass.
Quit being a chicken shit, I bought a 94 GT and I did not give a fuck.
The over radiator intake is horrible. Heat Soak. In a traffic jam it just sucks hot air from the engine bay. Even worse when you reverse and hot air comes back through the rad into the filter the car cuts out
Best intake is through the inner wing where the air box used to be, and filter behind bumper.
So I've been focused on getting a C6 Z06 within the next year. 🤔 But now I'm thinking the 6.0 GTO is a decent compromise. Am I wrong?
It’s a Z06, it’s more of a better platform and popular than the GTO, but the GTO is cheaper overall and less of a risk when it comes to insurance than the c6 z06. So that is ultimately up to you, but the GTO is a safer start up.
Do you have track times in this car?
Aaron Waiters not yet our track won’t open till late March
HEY BRO ARE YOU FROM A.Z ?
So would a 228r cam be ok?
Yep that’s what I run
The person who owned the GTO before me did all these mods lmao
Hey trey u have a email bro? I have a s550 mustang but my cousin has a 05 gto he has questions for you if u don't have a problem with that..
Mr. Perfect msg me on my insta page @hoodlumautos
Good video, background music is annoying
What's the biggest size tire I can fit on my GTO? LOL also is a 4500 stall gud?
Without rolling the fenders 275 width is pushing it
@@thirteen20la81 Thanks! I was just joking that's the most common question asked on FB.
@@Joeshomegarage But, will 275's fit on the factory 04 wheels? I'm new to the GTO'S, just bought an 04 a little over a month ago. I've had an 87 GTA for the last 23yrs, It has 17×9 inch wheels front and rear and I run BFGoodrich G- force 275/40 tires all the way around the car. Just eyeballing the GTO wheels, I don't think I can run a 275 on this car. I've done a lot of mods to the GTA, but none to the GTO. I think the GTA is faster than the GTO. I want to put Flowmasters on the GTO, but don't know which ones I need. I've contacted them and they can't even tell me.
I ran 285/35/18s on the stock wheels. You can run 275s you may need drag bags. I have drag bags and my fenders are cut. I don't know anyone running flowmasters. I have magnaflow catback on my 06. Most people go with corsa but if you're an a old head like me you'll be shocked at spending 1400 for a catback! lol
@@Joeshomegarage I have an 04, it's got 17×8s. You sure I can put 275s on the rear? It appears to have clearance, but not sure if an 8" wheel will hold a 275. It's got 245s on it now. Did the 06 come with 18s?
Finding a GTO that hasn't been dogged out is normal.
Also remove that useless tow brace under the rear of the car. Weight reduction 😁
Ls7 clutch is a good stock replacement that’s about all. Won’t handle a track day or anything more than headers.
CarusoRacing 14 yes it will I ran a ls7 clutch for over a year on my Gto (cam, headers, supercharger) it will handle it just fine
Handles great on mine (cam headers, tune) 3 years old to
Also a good idea to replace the slave cylinder while you're at it. The one on my 04 exploded less than a month after I did the H/C/H. (About 55-65,000 miles).
If you drive your car on the track and drive it how a Gto should be driven it’s not going to last for a season out of mine after just one trip to the track. Car was literally bolt ons and 125 shot and then cam only for a couple weeks
If 93 octane gas is available where you're located...a 93 octane tune will get you a noticeable increase in the amount of ass that gets kicked when your intention is to kick ass. That is to say, you will absolutely notice the difference in power after a good tune! I went with PCMforless because they're local to me and do a great job! A good tuner and a Summit Racing within 5 minutes? Pretty sweet.
Isn't 235 factory
My first mods was an OTR made by Svede back in the day, Long tubes and exhaust. Made a big difference. But always remember..You got pay to play. Love my GTO. Check out my vids to hear my exhaust.
What size tire are you running ? 255? 265?
Michael Wood 285 rear, 245 front
Trey Herrera damn! That’s a fat tire, I didn’t think it was possible
Trey Herrera what all did you have to do to make them fit? Just rolling the fenders?
Michael Wood roll and pull the fenders
I have about a 10k limit maybe 11k can i find a decent 05-06 gto for that price?
Yes you can
rocketbunny1314 yes go on Facebook and get on all the Gto forums, lots for sale along with good parts etc...
Try to find one and talk the seller down a bit
Thanks for the advice...
@@TreyHerrera Do you have an insta?
Bruh....I'm real..😎😁
NO RICE ON A GTO
I wanna buy a gto, it’s a nice 06 with 8k miles for $24,000 I’m thinking offer em $18,000 cash
That's a dick offer bro. You really think they're gonna take 3/4 of the asking price for a low mileage late model GTO?
Do it. You never know, the guy may need quick cash. Nothing wrong with making an offer. You can always work up from there.
Brandon Bryant I wouldn’t even sell it to you if you offered me a price like that. Tell you to take a hike
Bro what’s your IG
Yoyoyo make a bmx video
ezekiel bmx all my bmx stuff is on insta 👊🏽
@@TreyHerrera you awnserd!!! Thats crazy thanks
My cai only pulls in 62 degrees
Tyler Roe does it have a heat shield?
No
Tyler Roe do you have your iat routed somewhere different then the maf? That’s the only way your iats will be that low
Nope same spot my tuner was shocked about it as well
You must live in a cold area or high altitude, come to texas where its 110*F in the summer lol, no way anyone wants to use a hai down here
Do you intend on converting your GTO to look like the Holden Monaro that it is?
Konformation07 I have considered it lol
This guys way far off the mark. Not throwing shade. Run a hygrometer while you drive while moving forward, I did. When stopped very hot, when accelerating it went to 70. There’s also shoots from the upper wheel well leading right into that air shielded receiving area . Women lie, men lie, Dynos don’t lie.
Captain obvious
fuckupayme65 🤷🏽♂️👊🏽 more for guys new to the car game
3 minutes in and im done, flick the shit music. I wanted to watch the rest of the vid bit if I wanted music I would have watched MTV instead.
Damn your salty 😂
