NPR is not PARTIALLY funded, it is MOSTLY funded by tax dollars. It is supposed to be non commercial , but they all have commercials and sponsorships and they STILL beg for donations from listeners, acting like they can’t make it, if people don’t donate, which is NOT true.

I work in radio. The NPR station in LA had an ad for employees. It’s MINIMUM requirement was a Bachelors degree and you must FLUENTLY speak TWO languages, preferably Spanish or Chinese.
Chinese? This is an ALL ENGLISH RADIO station.
I didn’t get an interview, because I’m a white man.
My friend a black woman, with LESS experience did get an interview. She said ALL of the stations employees were Asian women, except the on air hosts who had white voices.

About 10 years ago, when I still listened to the radio on my commute, I would bounce channels quite regularly. One day I listened to Rush Limbaugh's program and heard him discussing some of Obama's foreign policy. The next day, I listened to NPR. They covered Limbaugh's piece, and not only took him out of context... they selectively edited a clip of Limbaugh to make it sound like he said something else entirely.
It had to have been intentional, as the section removed completely invalidated their criticisms.
This was probably more than 10 years ago. Imagine how bad it is now.

Once, years and years ago, I got encouraged by a boss to try listening to NPR during my commute because it was - in his words - an unbiased, highly intelligent news source which reported on a lot of the stories that slipped under the radar.
I tried that, for about a month. Results varied from boring, to irrelevant, to actively anger-inducing when I realized that no, NPR has a huge political bias and does not even pretend to be neutral. Some of their stories about medical research and such WERE interesting.... but you'd get about one of those for every fifty pieces of propaganda.
