- In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only The Message. Well, it was only a matter of time before they came for Warhammer. Games Workshop's recent decision to alter the lore of their game universe has opened the floodgates, and there will be demands for more. Believe that.

And please remember, that GW is working towards this show for several years now. What many people have forgotten is, that GW went after content creators, who produced warhammer content. When Syama Pederson started to publish the Astartes series, GW saw how widely accepted it could be, and started to send out cease and desist orders to content creators, threatening to take legal actions, if they did not remove their content. Then, they offered them to work for GW (but had to sign NDAs, so nobody can talk about it). The content creators faced a choice to either join GW or stop their entire channel and waste all the work they had done for it. Btw. Syama Pederson did join GW, but he does not talk about it, as he is not allowed to.
So, looking at how vehemently GW is forcing Warhammer to go mainstream, I think they will do anything that Amazon demands from them, resulting in the total destruction of their lore and everything that made Warhammer great.

In the 1980s GW sold miniatures in sets called blister packs, and as Merrett explained "the intention was that upwards of 25% of all models would be female." That didn't last because "retailers kept complaining to us that customers weren't buying the female models and could we not include any in their restocks." By the time Warhammer 40,000 was designed, GW made sure its poster boys were, well, boys to ensure they'd sell. Wrong. There have always been "Trans" Sisters of Silence. They would never let a normal man join, it has to be ultra inclusive and thus a man who thinks he's a woman.
The regressives on the Left have always been included in 40k lore. I always thought they were the Tyranids.
You are confused my friend. Wokeism is a centrist thing. Leftists don't care about your personal identity politics, your personal wants are completely that, personal, leftists want a strong and armed working class that makes sure everyone who works has a home and food on the table for their family. What you want to be called is completely immaterial, what colour your hair is or who you want to have sex with is personal, and if you keep your personal stuff at home and do your job then the actual left could not care one shit, one way or the other.

“We’ve always been at war with east Asia,” was a perfect reference. Well said Drinker, well said!
Agreed. When I saw that response I thought, that is an Orwellian fucking statement right there if I've ever seen one. And sure enough the Drinker picked right up on it.
It has been amusing to witness all the casuals and tourists employing various forms of mental gymnastics in a pathetic attempt to defend this BS retcon.
First, let us bask in the resounding echoes of the ancient defense, _"B-bu-but this isn’t GW’s first retcon."_ Ah, yes, the timeless art of precedent defense, why bother with the sacred integrity of lore when you can simply...adjust? After all, change is the only constant in the universe, especially when it violates the very fabric of established canon.
Then, we're graced with the mantra of minimization, _"B-bu-but it is a minor change."_ A minor change, they say, as if tampering with the genetic makeup of the Adeptus Custodes is akin to changing the color of their capes or perhaps giving them a new holiday to celebrate. Why, it's practically insignificant if you squint hard enough and forget everything that made them iconic.
Ah, and who could forget the delightful dismissal of contradictory lore? _"B-bu-but all the lore that contradicts this retcon is all unreliable irrelevant source."_ With a single wave of the retcon wand, decades of backstory, character development, and intricate world-building are dismissed as mere distractions. "Unreliable," they say, as if the keepers of the lore themselves were but mere scribes guessing at the truths of the universe, their pens filled with the ink of uncertainty.
But the cherry on top of this delicious cake of denial, the ever-eloquent, _"B-bu-but….DURRR."_ Truly, what rebuttal could possibly stand against such a well-constructed argument? It's as if the very essence of debate was distilled into a single, unassailable word, cutting through logic and reason like a chainsword through butter.
In this glorious drama of retcon and rebuke, let us not lose sight of the most entertaining spectacle of all: the tourists, those wandering souls adrift in the sea of lore, clinging to their rafts made of excuses and justifications. As they bravely sail into the storm, armed with nothing but their wits and a profound sense of denial, we cannot help but admire their dedication to the cause. After all, it takes a special kind of devotion to stand firm in the face of such overwhelming evidence to the contrary, to smile in the eye of the retcon hurricane and say, _"B-bu-but…DURRRR."_
Truly, we are blessed to witness such feats of mental gymnastics, as the tourists vault over logic, somersault past consistency, and land gracefully in the safety net of their own making.
China will spend any amount of $ to undermine western males.
@@Octaviu5 The only real reason that female space marines didn't exist is they were not marketable to their audience in the 80's. They released two figures with their own story lines, and no one bought them. They then decided that no one wanted them, and built the lore after that point.
I don't think there should be - don't get me wrong - but it's pretty undeniable that this company is, was, and always will be about profit - they are infamous for designing a figure and then trying to build some rules around that figure - rather than the other way around.
Same goes here - no one wanted female space marines, because no one bought them when they did release them, so they invented the lore to go with that.
Why the diversity people are trying so hard to be included in a space nazi facist regime is beyond me.

Hey drinker! I am a huge Warhammer nerd. I've been in the hobby for many many years, and I have a fairly robust understanding of the lore. I just want to point out an important lore-error in this video: Custodes and Space Marines, though both representing humanity, and both being a type of 'super-soldier,' are entirely genetically different from each other. From a pure-lore standpoint, firstborn Space Marines (who are being replaced by a newer generation known as the Primaris) MUST be male. The same may not be true about the new primaris marines, but we don't have much info on them in the lore yet. This 'male-only' thing has been repeated and explored in great detail in multiple novels, so there is basically no chance to argue that female firstborn marines could exist. The same is not true of custodes. There are only ever 10,000 custodes, never more, and there is exactly ONE mention of their sex in the lore, stating: 'the *original* 10,000 were taken from the firstborn males of the noble houses.' There is no other mention in the lore about the custodes' sex. The process that creates them also doesn't require male-specific organs and physiology as well, so in-universe reason that a custodian couldn't be female. Them saying that there have been females since the original 10,000 though? Ridiculous lol

“The rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal.” This quote has ceased to be satirical, and has become reality.
It always was, people were just too foolish to realize...
That's literally the point of satire. To exaggerate reals things to a comical level to instill a lesson, parable, or warning. Parody is just exaggerated comedy for the sake of being funny. People really do need to learn the difference.
I have to correct the "6 minutes" statement of the 80's. About the "generic" nature and design. It was done like that on purpose so you could make your own army. They added parts when they could produce the models.
I think it's easy to say "they hadn't designed it yet" however that wasn't correct. They had designed it, just couldn't build the models.
GW got rid of squats (space dwarfs) back in the nineties. Any mention of squats would get you banned from their message boards. They never have been particularly interested in cannon consistency.
The Cavill clip hits so hard cause Custodes was his army too. Poor man can't have anything without it being fucked with.

Females are not necessary to be space marines or custodes. Male Space Marines and Custodes have their genitalia removed, because it is also not necessary. All they need is muscle, limbs, and extra organs. The male body naturally have the advantage in muscle mass, enough said. That is why they are the Space Marines.
If a woman Space Marine existed, it would be more difficult to create and more costly. From the genital mutilation, increasing muscle growth, etc etc. Male already is winning in terms of efficiency and resources in that regard. You would just be making the woman into a man while it's already been/being genetically altered. What's the point? You realize Space Marines are basically clones of their respective Primarchs, right?
Sisters of Battles are not Space Marines, not even close. But they fit. They are literally ripped in half and used by Grey Knights, their blood is a protective layer against Daemons/Warp magic.
Anyways, if it doesn't change the faction identity then why do it? What's the actual point?
To quote GW from the past: "The world of 40k is satirical not aspirational" I wish they'd stand by this quote.

I came to know the WH40K community through videogames like Dawn of War, and Space Marine. Will probably never play the tabletop because I have no money and no one to play with in the city and country I live in, but I have read plenty of lore through the years and while I am familiar with the retcons and changes GW has done through the ages, I think they went too far NOT because of the lore change, but the way they handled their response to the community and WHY they did it, as mr. CriticalDrinker so fabulously explains in his video.
This brings to mind how the retcon was done in the Horus Heressy when an anonymous guardsman's sacrifice is the trigger for the Emperor to defeat Horus being changed was a disservice to how this was the epitome of humanity's sacrifice as a whole, when the clear underdog would still go up there and wail on fucking Horus out of all people... our willingness to go against impossible odds in order to save what we love.... This is exactly like that. I'm pretty sure the community as a whole won't take it lying when the company spews bullshit and barefaced lies to the fans.
And believe it... GW doesn't want to make the nerds and dorks we are not consume it's products, the virtue signalers sure won't buy what they sell, as usual. Great catch there, mr. CriticalDrinker!
