Igor Markevitch's incisive conducting, as well as his surgical precision and energetic impulse (always mastered) are the characteristics of this great performer. Markevitch is a marvel in Tchaikovsky's music. The strings always sound in unison and the order and clarity of the orchestra is worthy of a military organization. A great Tchaikovsky, an undeniable reference recording by a conductor who has been immersed all his life in the Russian tradition and was the protégé of Diaghilev, the famous director of the Russian ballets. Die Ouvertüre ist eine wunderschöne und spannende Interpretation dieses romantischen und dramatisch komponierten Meisterwerks mit gut phrasierten doch perfekt vereinigten Tönen aller Instrumente. Der geniale Maestro dirigiert das ausgezeichnete Orchester im veränderlichen Tempo und mit möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Die beiden Suiten sind auch eine wunderschöne und detaillierte Interpretation dieser romantischen und fein komponierten Meisterwerke mit gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Die verbesserte Tonqualität ist auch erstaunlich hoch als originale Aufnahmen von mehr als sechzig Jahren vor. Alles ist wundervoll!
