I started taking piano lessons when I was eight. Somehow, when I was about 10, I heard Clair de Lune, maybe on TV. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and it was completely unlike anything I'd ever heard. I went to my piano teacher and told her I wanted to learn it. She probably thought I was crazy, but she indulged me. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing and not being a prodigy, i couldn't do it justice. But it still gives me pleasure that I had enough discernment at least to pluck it out from all the other music I was hearing and that I was the kind of kid who could be touched by it. Thanks for posting this compilation. I listen to it every day.
"Somehow, when I was about 10, I heard Clair de Lune, maybe on TV. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard, and it was completely unlike anything I'd ever heard." While reading this I had tears in my eyes. I feel completely the same.
That happened to me by chance coming across my aunt’s George Szell Cleveland Orchestra record of Beethoven Symphony #5 and maybe 6 too. I was 11 and bored. I lay down next to big speakers from the 70s. It was love at first note. I was like WHAT IS THIS! I still love those 2 symphonies above all others. This Debussy is the music of the heavens ☺️

I discovered classic music when I was 8 or 9 years old; I was in the house of a cousin of my mother and, by chance, I found a disk forgotten in the shelf... I asked to put the disk in the fonograph and it was Tchaikovsky's Concert No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra... I felt a deep shiver when I heard the first chords of the work and I listened to it in its entirety, without getting tired... It was unforgettable!
This beautiful heartfelt music has awakened something in me to start playing again. I miss the full soul feeling it brought. My piano sits lonely in my living room. I remember my piano teacher from long ago. An elderly neighborhood gentleman from Germany--Mr. Eric Lemke. We called him Opa. He played piano, violin, clarinet, oboe, cello. He always wore a suit when teaching. The smells of Oma's cooking were ever present during lessons. Opa gave the best imported chocolate candies during piano lessons. The neighborhood kids loved him dearly! He was a sweet kind man. I think of him and his beautifully landscaped yard often.
What a lovely Sunday morning I've had. Claude Debussy is the pleasant joy that brought it all together, so beautiful, so soothing, peaceful. I discovered Debussy in a different kind of way. You may remember that Jack Horkheimer ("Keep Looking Up") called on Debussy and his Arabesque No. 1 to color his brief yet wonderful show on astronomy. I loved the music immediately. I did not know it's origin. I found out and discovered another wonderful universe of pleasure. Thanks Jack. God Bless Claude...
I wonder what kind of impression this music made on people who listened to it for the first time more than a hundred years ago, it must have blown their minds... Now we are used to all kind of music, and still Debussy impresses me so much, his music is like from another planet...
Debussy has always been my favourite composer, so sad he died so young. At 77 I'm learning the piano so I can play Clair de Lune . Debussy came from a time when there was still some kindness and compassion in the world. God, rest his soul and thank you for this wonderful man
Hola, la bondad y la compasión nunca acabaran, fijate bien! todo está bien, mira la realidad con los ojos de Dios, se indulgente y comprensivo, no saben lo que hacen, no pueden actuar de otra manera porque así son.
French people are known, among other things, for making frequent protests, but I feel that Debussy's music show us the other side of the french: soft, elegant and full of feelings.
Debussy’s music is ephemeral and very romantic. I heard the music Clair de lune in the movie “ Ocean’s eleven.” and loved very much but didn’t know who is a composer. One time I heard it on radio classic channel and learned that Debussy is a composer, I am playing piano and when I was learning in musical school long time ago I was playing Debussy. Now I am learning to play Clair de Lune, almost done , the last two pages remains to play fluently.
As a Debussy listening to Clair de Lune it brings me a mixture of emotions. Happiness at first, then a somber tone, then it goes happy again. It always amazes me how the sound of a piano well played can bring so many emotions!
My wife was a piano teacher for 30 plus years. This is one of my favorites. It reminds me of her especially in my late seventies. Personally beautiful both. ❤
Thank you for this comment . . Debussy and his Clair de Lune are what brought classical music into my Life. Now because of you, I’m about to hear Ravel’s ‘Bolero'. ❤
His musical interpretation of Clair de Lune is flawless. It would be impossible for me to tell you what that means to me. I believe this is exactly how Debussy heard it in his head when he composed it, and I am sometimes shocked by how wrong some performers/conductors get it. Well done, and thank you.
Normally I dislike classical piano pieces. But Debussy had a beautiful way to weave the notes together. I'll never forget hearing Clair de Lune for the first time in Ocean's 11 when I was a kid. Such a relaxing piece.
Well this has to change then. If you like this, it means that your ear is at least sensible to some degree to classical sonorities. You just need some good pieces easy to like to get started. Try Brahms intermezzo op 118 no2, or Pletnev arrangement of Pas de deux from the nutcracker suit. I'm sure you'll like them !
Claude Debussy and Frederic Chopin will always be my two favorite classical musicians. I love them both, and I am convinced that they are in heaven resting peacefully with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ our Lord and savior. I listen to both of them every day at work and at night to put me to deep meditation and sleep.

As familiar as Debussy's music has become to me over the years, there is a freshness, an almost luminescence to his compositions that never fades. The natural flow of his melodies and their tempos sweeps over the consciousness like waves in a calm sea, or the intermittent clouds high in the sky. As far as my favorite piece, it depends on the day, and my mood, but I have always been fascinated by the mystery and colors of "The engulfed Cathedral". Not sure why, as it is not the most cheerful piece in this listing, but it haunts me still.
How fascinating that a singular composition can call forth memories of blissful nostalgia in some and in others a stark reminder that all things must pass. Love, life and dreams. This song comforted me as I dealt with the pain of losing the love of my life. Towards the end of Clair de lune, I picture her ballroom dancing through stars and nebulas. This composition guts me and as I type this, my vision is blurred with the vale of tears wishing to release.

Clair de lune is my favorite song of all time. I could listen to it continuously on a loop. What a master deBusey is to have written it.
Me too
I discovered classic music when I was 8 or 9 years old; I was in the house of a cousin of my mother and, by chance, I found a disk forgotten in the shelf... I asked to put the disk in the fonograph and it was Tchaikovsky's Concert No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra... I felt a deep shiver when I heard the first chords of the work and I listened to it in its entirety, without getting tired... It was unforgettable!
What a lovely way to start the morning. Thank you for uploading.
I love Debussy's music. I want him to accompany me to my final resting place. His music is divine.
I love Debussy's music more than I could ever like Debenis's music.
Yes, please play Clair de Lune when I die.
I just added to my "When the Time Comes" file ❤

Keep listening for the rest of your life and your wish shall come true.
Pictures painted with music!
We get to listen to it whenever we want! Simply amazing.
Debussy has always been my favourite composer, so sad he died so young. At 77 I'm learning the piano so I can play Clair de Lune . Debussy came from a time when there was still some kindness and compassion in the world. God, rest his soul and thank you for this wonderful man
What an inspiration you are. I wish you all success, you youngster (Me? 78)

French people are known, among other things, for making frequent protests, but I feel that Debussy's music show us the other side of the french: soft, elegant and full of feelings.
Arabesques No. 1 really moved me. I almost cried in the cafe.
I love Debussy
Then you like France, my beloved country, Love and blessings to you :)
But always finish on Debussy. Never finish on the Bach!
@@nikaproust nah, just debussy 😂
Debussy’s music is ephemeral and very romantic. I heard the music Clair de lune in the movie “ Ocean’s eleven.” and loved very much but didn’t know who is a composer. One time I heard it on radio classic channel and learned that Debussy is a composer, I am playing piano and when I was learning in musical school long time ago I was playing Debussy. Now I am learning to play Clair de Lune, almost done , the last two pages remains to play fluently.
Want to learn it as well although have never played the piano
The best to you, 🎉 you will be wonderful .🎉😊
As a Debussy listening to Clair de Lune it brings me a mixture of emotions. Happiness at first, then a somber tone, then it goes happy again. It always amazes me how the sound of a piano well played can bring so many emotions!
I agree 👍
I will not go gently into the dark night. But I will go very gently into Debussy's moonlit night.
Why are people slagging him off and making jokes ?

I can't help but cry each time I hear Clair de lune, it was my mother's favourite piece she played followed by Arabesque No 1 .
What an incredible collection of works, beautiful, haunting, wistfully floating in the air and winds. The talent and beauty is truly otherwordly
Clair de lune at the very beginning is mesmerizing
I am playing piano . Ravel and Debussy are my beloved ones ❤️
Thank you for this comment . . Debussy and his Clair de Lune are what brought classical music into my Life. Now because of you, I’m about to hear Ravel’s ‘Bolero'. ❤
NOTHING compares Debussy inspirations
I love De Bussy
My mind read this in the voice of Plies.

Clair de lune hits me right in the Debussy every time.

Arabesques No.1 gets me every time
I have only recently became interested in classical music and this is such a wonderful place to start . DeBussy is wonderful .
My favourite piece is La fille aux cheveux de lin (the girl with linen hair) - it is so beautiful.
I am in agreement Mr. Dabo. Blessings🕊

Such beautiful children that the world often doesn’t understand. Some children are sent to change the world in ways we may not be able to recognize but if you pay close attention their lights radiate and shine ✨ a light on what needs attention in the world.
They have the ability to hold soo soo very much beauty, and live and breathe making the world a better place for all.

Debussy had his God-given gift he shared to every soul; timeless & unbound thru generations. Peace & love til the last drop of the note.
these are by far the best performance I ever heard of the Debussy's pieces. Artem Tenkeli did an amazing work here
I just love Claire de lune. So beautiful and refreshing. My favorite. Many thanks for sharing this beautiful and wonderful music with all of us.

No, you finish on the Bach. Never finish on Debussy.
I've had a collection of these albums and just happened to check it out and I can't believe what I have.❤
How fascinating that a singular composition can call forth memories of blissful nostalgia in some and in others a stark reminder that all things must pass.
Brings me so much joy to hear this! I’ve been enjoying this movement since I was fourteen years old! I was born way too early!
No, you weren't -- this is music for the ages.
I'm confused. Born too early for music composed over 100 years ago?
Estoy escuchando las piezas de Debussy en estas zonas verdes; con bellos árboles y bosques; zonas frías y lluviosas de la patagonia chilena 🇨🇱. ¡Cuánto apacigua la música de este compositor; es ensueño perfecto!
