One of my All-Time Favorites. ❤️🔥
I love the beginning of the video when Siobhan walks up to the mic... such a beautiful woman!!
I love this song it's such a chilled out
tune l listened to this song a lot
and this full album when I was going through a bad depression and it just
help with things it just chear me up for a hours or so I love this band full
stop I hope that there is more music
coming soon from this band😁❤️👍
There was something so special about Siobhan, she never really had the career she deserved, I hope she had a great life.
Why are you talking about her in the past tense? She’s not dead. I hope she IS having a great deal of fun living her life.
She is like the fifth beatle
@@bobbyserrato1949 Really? You’re actually comparing her to Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe? Siobhan was with Bananarama a lot longer than Best and Sutcliffe were with the Beatles. And she was with her group at the height of their success unlike Best and Sutcliffe who were with their band when it was just a club act in Liverpool and Hamburg. Some of Bananarama’s biggest and most well-known hits originated from her, something that cannot be said ever about Best and Sutcliffe when it comes to Beatles songwriting. And Keren and Sara haven’t had a major top 40 hit since they became a duo. Bananarama was and is at it’s best when Siobhan was with Keren and Sara. The reunion tour of 2017 and 2018 is clear proof of that.
Siobhan is incredibly creative and charismatic. She just has IT.
Today I found out SS got back together at least for a bit and released a new song. And Siobhan and Marcella got over their differences enough to do so. Today was a good day.
Marcella was interviewed since that tour and she said they got over their differences "somewhat", so apparently there was still a little tension. Not sure they'll be a followup to that 2019 EP.
@@JavierParede I think the reality with the two of them is that though they are a wonderful creative duo together their personalities clash. I think they do respect each other and do have much better feelings about the other since the reunion but likely they are never going to be best friends and may very well not follow up the EP.
@@ccgrey8731Agree. I've heard Siobhan say complimentary things about Marcy but I've also heard her say things suggesting that Marcy brought less to the partnership since she "isn't the star". If we're being honest Marcy has a far more credible background with her Eric Clapton work and writing some of his classics than Siobhan does with a fluffy pop group like Bananarama (whom I love, it's just not serious music). The clash in their personalities seems to come from Siobhan's ego, and for someone like Marcy who has collaborated with some the greats in rock music it's has to be extremely emotional. Things came to a head when Marcy got so much credit for "Stay" and Siobhan felt the need to remind everyone that she is the star.
A mix of Beatles and David Bowie. Great!
Definitely combines the two
all the young dudes
Great description. Perfect description actually.
SIMPLY AM ICON
She can DRIVE!
My favorite SS single for a million reasons, like the expression on her face as she says the word 'recovery' - the lyrics feel lifted from my life, the melody is timeless, and her idiosyncrasies make her all the more beguiling.
I don't know. It's hard for me to grab of a hold of who she is. She's played many different parts. from the Banana days to the initial duo to this. This was released one year after Jagged Little Pill and it shows. It seems a bit Alanis Morissette.
@@eckesg2 Alanis vs All The Young Dudes
Sounds like a Dave Stewart track to me.
@@spencert9902 3:17 When she make eye staring it's like she's channeling Ozzy Osbourne mode 😆
Love this song
This song is fucking fantastic.
Love love love this song ❤️
Great song I’ve never heard before. Siobhan looks even more beautiful without all of the gothic make up of previous videos.
🕊 MGM sessions are great by Siobhan 🤍
Shine Queen! Shine! :)
What a track.
I've always loved this song ❤️
Beautiful (David Bowie's alike) song and love Siobhan. She is great, like the ozzy osbourne dark vampiress of pop!, She should have gotten more recognition worldwide.
Finally twigged what this reminds me of. Walking On The Milky Way by OMD.
Great song
Great Grunge song.
I just listened to this song for the first time. Is it just me or does anyone else start singing all the young dudes by David Bowie?
Yes,. I didn't read the comments before, but that David Bowie song came to mind. I read that this single was one off, she lost the record deal and there was no album (only later). Sad story with the break-up.
@@ZoolGatekeeperYep. The single barely cracked the Top 40 in the UK and didn't chart at all in the US. Because of that the album was scratched. SS without Marcy doesn't work; it's the dynamic between them that made it cool.
This should have been such a hit but it somehow slipped through the net, I can only think it wasn't given a strong enough promotional push. That whole third album is excellent but sadly it's just those first two albums that caught the spotlight. Some record companies have a lot to answer for.
Wow ! First time hearing this song in 25 years ! I remember it like yesterday; shows just how infectious a song it really is ! ! Siobhan still looks very cute at 38 ! I remember thinking this song had real atmosphere and drama; still do I guess, but not to the same degree I did as a 13 year old in 1996 ! Great use of french horns and strings ! Shame the video looks all late-90's lurid 'Britpop', but I guess she had to do that to promote the song ! OTHERWISE A GREAT SONG from a late-90's era when everything else in the popular culture was all Spice Slags, Oasis, Britpop, lads/ladettes, hooliganism, vulgarity and a general lowest-of-the-low abyss !
No..no..no
Great tune, original and innovative, deserved better back in the days.
Yes. Except being directly lifted from Oasis/Beatles. Should have got the chip off her shoulder and struck a deal with Marcella.
I think you mean David Bowie (All the Young Dudes)@@robwilliams6753
@@robwilliams6753 Agree. It's a good song but it clearly was "inspired" (heavily heavily inspired) by the Beatles and Bowie with the Oasis production of the time on top. It's too bad she couldn't get over herself and just accept that Marcy was as valuable to the band as she was. SS could be rock royalty today if they had capitalized on the success of the 2nd album, but instead they quit just when they were getting big.
@@JavierParede When you have Bowie and the Beatles as a reference, it can only be good stuff
I love this song
i remember burning this song from Napster in 2000 and rocking out to it on my portable CD player when i walked from work. i was really convinced that this song was written for me.
🕊 Much better albums #3 & Songs from the red room than any others by them 🤍
Just perfect
She IS so cool,
LOVE U! 😍
so many years,but steel great!!!
still remember,nice song
Anyone else notice similarities to the Beatles 'Across The Universe' ?...
Really? All I can hear is the Mott The Hoople classic 'All The Young Dudes' (written for them by David Bowie) - ua-cam.com/video/yNHdPPJGowY/v-deo.html
Surely I'm not the only one?
@@GlucoseDehydrogenase Ah that's it! I knew it sounded familiar. Thank you.
Yep all the Young dudes is in there
funny, when I listen to; Hello (turn your radio on) I can imagine David Bowie singing it
TheHideChild • Not particularly- I think it's in the instrumentation/production
The brass section is very Beatles, it's like Mott with a Beatles brass band
I just love this woman and I'm a misogynist!
Homage to the thin white duke💜💜💜💜
💙💜🖤
Wow this is great. It’s better than David Bowie’s original version.
All the young dudes
Great song. I can hear Bowie's All the Young dudes, but I prefer this song. Great production & lyrics
Good cover of All The Young Dudes
interesting comparison !
Wow! That's the exact same song I was thinking of!
This Brilliant song has echo`s of the Beatles
Quality+

✨✨✨✨✨✨
"I'm worth more than 60 pence"....not sure exact current exchange rate in Aussie dollar. :) Great song.
London Records were wrong to discount Siobhan.
I don';t know what is it about this woman that makes me wish I was her man and also to use euphemisms.
She looks a bit like Keira Knightley in this video. (That’s a big compliment btw).
More ssst
I love Siobhan but it's not Shakespears Sister with just her. They dynamic between she and Marcy is what gave the band it's appeal. This song is ok, but she should have just made it a solo song.
I need to listen to yo everday if not ill die what bull surroundds us what rarape I miss u
'Oh You Pretty Things' crossed with Strawberry Fields era Beatles plagarism.
She was beautiful
She IS beautiful.
kicks like a mule, oh we can laugh.
All the pretty people are dying as well in 2021... same feeling here
Great song, but it feels like one sister can't drive all the way to home.
ssexy
Marcys fab vocal range well missed .
Great song! But a crying shame it was released as 'Shakespear's Sister: Siobhan should have had the balls to release it under her own name.
Siobhan is/was the creator of Shakespeare's Sister. With or without Marcella Detroit, Siobhan IS Shakespeare's Sister. Using her own name, this track could have easily been lost.
The whole story and journey behind the determination of Shakespeare's Sister, was somewhat of a rollercoaster. A lot of it quite sad, especially for Siobhan. I had a read up about her story with Shakespeare's Sister and well... let's just say. A hell of bad luck for Siobhan.
Like you said, Great song! Let's keep it that way.
Siobhan wasnt solo top 10 material .
Siobhan needed her girls to have big hits keren sara marcella .
How many great pop hits have Keren and Sara had without Siobhan? How about Marcella? Very, very few is the answer to both questions.
Bollocks to girls, boys, men ( not many of them i think they are extinct or have no balls), women a bit to beeeechy. Welcome to the Demi Goddess team who have a pet dig named Jesus.
OMG what an awful dirge. No wonder it tanked.
Never understood why Marcella wasn't lead vocals... makes no sense with no range monotone Siobhan being lead...
Siobhan = Great Personality
Because this is Siobhan and various guest singers, it was always Siobhan’s project.
Siobhan kicked Marcy out the band years before this
Marcy lead the big hit vocals something siobhan couldnt live with she bowed to the record label .
Shakespears Sister is Siobhan’s creation and it was just her in the beginning writing and singing the songs. Think OneRepublic and Ryan Tedder or Five For Fighting and John Ondrasik. Same thing. She created it so she gets to decide who sings vocals.
her grunge video of the SS era.
