    I'm gonna eat at that tavern next time I get to Bardstown and try one of those hot browns. I've been in Kentucky now for 8 years but never ate one. Looks yummy.

      Go to the tavern for atmosphere but go across the street at MAMMY’S for the better Hot Brown.

    I’m with you on the Brown hotel. Was going back there again for the hot brown and it had jumped up to $30. Last time I‘ll be going there. 😡

    The murals were severly damaged in the fire. They had some color before that. Before the fire they were actually covered over for a long time by wall paper. Also, you missed about five bullet holes in the mural to the right of the fireplace.

    Barry I have watched several of you videos now, lots of great places..What I don't understand is you are the condiment king...You don't actually get the flavor of the food...You drown it in sauces...But you do you...

    • @goodallscountrykitchen
      @goodallscountrykitchen  Рік тому +1

      You’re not the first one to say that. I make the server sneak me Worcester sauce at Jeff Ruby’s. So yes, I am tge condiment king.

    To go along with the history lesson - they wouldn't even have had gas lighting for maybe close to a hundred years, since gas lighting was not used widespread indoors until about the 1880's. They would have relied on the light from candles, fireplaces, & oil lamps. That would be spooky if they had dinners by those sources of light. You have got my interest to try them again after probably a couple of decades.

    As a lifelong resident of KY, I'm intrigued. I need to plan a visit. Did you find out room rates?

    • @goodallscountrykitchen
      @goodallscountrykitchen  Рік тому +2

      No, I forgot. Sorry. I do want to spend the night to see how scared my wife gets every time she hears a noise. Every room was occupied when I was there yesterday, so I’m sure you have to reserve it well in advance. I’m sure the rates are on their website.

    I remember in the 70s being taken to a restaurant that looks very similar to this one and their specialty was fried chicken livers! Wasn’t my thing but I remember my family having a great time. Wish I had a better memory!😮

    Oops, forgot to say that they food looked pretty good. Not sure how much the Hot Brown was, but I'd try it. Also, don't worry about that heart because the hot brown is turkey so it's a healthy option.

    Barry my friend, really like these historic places , food looks delicious , but I'm with you on the $30.00 for a hot brown, it doesn't cost that at the Brown hotel in Louisville where it was invented & their's is really good. God Bless & looks like you are healing well pal, I have a ways to go

      @@goodallscountrykitchen Barry, ok I watched it & saw the clip about the Brown hotel, I thought you meant the hot brown was $ 30.00 at the Talbott, l guess the Brown hotel has not updated their menu because I googled & it said the Brown's hotel was $ 23.00 , so my mistake as I miss understood because I wondered why you got one there at Talbott because you said I'm not paying $30.00 for a hot brown , God bless pal
