@@TheGamer2323The funny thing is that even in the Xbox 360 era, many of their "exclusives" (Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Lost Planet, etc.) were paid-timed exclusives that eventually came to PS3 anyway. They didn't win that generation either. It was all smoke and mirrors from Xbox.

That's why they are doing what they are doing, because they need revenue from more than just PC and Xbox install bases in order to properly support all the developers currently employed. Saying Xbox gamers don't buy games is as false as saying PC gamers don't buy games.

To be frank, the thing that killed the Xbox console was GamePass, because why would anyone buy an Xbox when they can just get GamePass and play the game on their PC. The reason people buy Nintendo and Sony systems historically is because you can't legally play their games on any other platform.
No, what killed Xbox was the fact the brand was primarily only popular in the United States. Game Pass has been their attempt to grow beyond the console, because the console wasn't selling to begin with. Same with putting their games on pc. It's the software and services that make the most money, so expanding that reach means the most. They didn't become a trillion dollar company by holding shit hostage.

I think the overall the strategy going forward is to have Xbox gaming in as many devices as possible just like windows is in every laptop and PC. As Nintendo switch user I'm looking forward to playing gears of war, halo and crackdown on the switch.

You know. I just went back playing the Xbox 360 the start of 2024. Playing the games I missed out on during that era (many xbox 360 games are not even compatible on current Xbox) And I find out there are two exclusive Naruto games on that system: Rise of a Ninja, & Broken Bond. If you can’t emulate 360 on PC. The only way to play those games is on Xbox 360. Adding more value to what was Xbox’s prime in the console market.

Last Xbox game I bought was in 2011. Two day old console bricked itself during an update, took it back to Walmart, got a refund. Two weeks later got a email from Xbox stating there was an unexpected error during an update/ send console in for a replacement. I emailed them back a picture of the refund receipt. Never touched their stuff in any form since. This was after having two other Xbox 360s RRoD a few years earlier and saying I wouldn't buy anymore.

This is the final nail in the coffin for me when it comes to buying Xbox hardware/Game Pass. If I want to play any of their content moving forward it will either be on PC or PlayStation versions. Potentially the Switch 2 depending on how well they run. There probably won't even be a new Xbox console if this is how quickly they change things. Xbox players are 100% beta testers for PlayStation versions of games like Starfield.
Im a hardcore Xbox fan since 2010-2011 and I can't believe Microsoft is going with this business route, its sad!

Starfield would’ve had to be an 11/10 for his prediction to be relevant. Starfield for me was barely a 7/10. Very boring game.
It really is the best path for them to just get their games to more players at this point. I think they should focus more on cloud gaming too. Even being in its beta stage, the service is really solid. I just played halo infinite for 3 hours straight on my dusty old laptop, and I was impressed. It held steady at 1080 60 fps the 99% of the time, with a lower latency than remote play on PS. Not to mention the fact I didn’t need to wait to download anything, or worry about storage.
