Couldn't touch on everything I wanted to in this video or it would've been too long 😅 but what do yall think about this news? I wouldn't panic too much or say this is the beginning of the end for Sony lol but it is an eyebrow raiser to already hear something like this being said only 3 years into the generation when some would say we haven't even scratched the surface of ''next-gen'' yet. Especially considering how well (or at least I thought) the ps5 has been doing despite it's weaknesses..

PS5 is selling well. I heard a while back that it's ahead of the PS4 everywhere except the US. As for the 25m forecast, its not surprising that they didn't hit that number. Companies usually make really high targets to please investors.

I'm more thinking of where can I find a reasonable price PC and somebody who can help show me what goes where and just start emulating games or just go for retro's.
I've been wondering this very thing, why are people upset that not very many games have been released. Our backlogs are massive. There's a handful of newer games I'm picking up this year, maybe a few I'll pickup for sale but I got a number of backlog games I'm focusing on. This type of approach is not only financially smarter but mentally its the healthier option as well versus feeling pressured to buy every single new game
@@Jonestimmyj1steam deck is great for emulating up to ps2. My 3080 pc can emulate ps3 pretty great but its not cheap you need a good amount of power to emulate that

And not to mention AAA games didn’t take 4-5 years on average to make like they do now. The days of getting multiple games from the same studio released within a reasonable 2-3 year gap is no more. Take a look at Rockstar that released too many games to even count in the PS2 generation. Now we’re down to Rockstar releasing one game a generation. So even if we have more games now than we ever did because of all the indies that exist, it sometimes really doesn’t feel like it with how slow some of these big AAA releases are.

if you're strictly into console exclusives, and hate crossplat then yeah its been a horrible gen. I played baldurs gate 3, tears of the kingdom, gow ragnarok, spiderman 2, and countless other games so this gen so this gen has been pretty damn good to me.

I think you can't do the math. It takes like 5 years to make a AAA first party exclusive these days. All we have had till now are remakes, remasters or sequels of PS4 titles. Only Returnal stands out as a new IP. What has this generation actually created??? Where are the new IPs??? 4 more years remaining that's nothing cuz like I said development cycle of these AAA games is 5 years. So either Sony needs to extend the lifecycle of their consoles or reduce the time it takes to create a AAA game. This shit is not working out like we had only 1 big AAA first party game last year(Spiderman 2) & we have ZERO first party this year(based on what's announced till now). And looks like even in 2025 it's only gonna be Wolverine unless that is also shifted to 2026 or something.
So what math you talking about. Sony is afloat only because of third party exclusive deals like Ronin, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill etc.

You're right. I've been playing my 360 more than my Ps5. More than half my Ps5 games are either remakes or remasters. Whereas my older consoles were making new games at the time.
The consoles showing its age. The limit was hit a while ago. Go to any of the breakdowns of the large titles. “Quality” mode is usually MAYBE 1600p at 30fps upscaled to 2160p. Performance is usually anywhere from 720p - 1440p upscaled to 2160p. Meanwhile modern mid end PCs are running the same games over 100fps using DLSS. The consoles are outdated. They’re already 6 years old tech wise.

Back in late 2020. I had the option of a guaranteed pre-order of a PS5 or, upgrade my gaming PC.
At the very last second... I opted to forgo the PS5 and upgrade my PC.
I absolutely do not regret my decision.

Truth be told, I only considered the PS5 for Demon's Souls Remake. With SONY now porting many of their titles to PC. It's only a matter of time before a port of Demon's Souls is announced. At this point... I wouldn't care if it were an Epic Store exclusive.
Smart choice, I did both. PS5 has been collecting dust after an amazing start but after upgrading my 2080 super to a 4070ti last year my urge to game was reinvigorated

I got a take. The gaming landscape is changing. The industry as we know it, is transitioning. For the last 30 years, consoles have pretty much ruled gaming. There was a period of time in the late 90's-early 2000's where people though PC gaming was going to die. Generation X and Y (Millenials) grew up playing largely on consoles. Consoles are now dying off. Console sales have peaked nad been stagnant for many years. Generation Z is a lot more invested in PC than generation X and Y were. A lot of these gamers 25 and under are PC players maybe in large part because they watch streamers and most streamer are playing on PC.
The younger kids, generation Alpha, a lot of them don't even play console at all. They play on tablets and phones. My 10 year old nephew plays on his dads xbox sometimes but mostly he plays roblox and Minecraft, buys the robucks, and just stays on that game forever. That's been his game for like 2 years.
I really think gamers are starting to move away from consoles, the hardcore are going to PC, and a ton of younger and more casual gamers are going to playing on mobile or streaming. I legitimately can see consoles being niche in 10-15 years. Only the old heads like us who grew up on them will still prefer to play there. Maybe they will still be around but they will be a smaller, more enthusiast market for largely older 40-60 year old gamers.
The bigger market will people mobile and games streamed ordownlaoded directly to your tv or devices with PC's being right behind. I really think console are about to be on the way out. There will still be a PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox, they just wont look like they do today.

You agreed with him however, that the first 3 years of the PS5 launch was better than the first 3 years of the PS4 launch. Could you elaborate on that, because the only PS5 exclusive I can think of is "Returnal." And the newest Spider-Man game. Everything else has been cross-gen or remakes/remastered.

Only one mid exclusive at launch when ps5 had 3 ps exclusives one which was the only true next gen experience for the first few years (demons souls). And sure you can say miles moralis and sackboy dont count bc cross-gen but everybody wanted a ps5 to play miles/sackboy at 1440p 60 not abysmal ass 1080 30 on a ps4 just bc they could. Sales/ profit over quality/value. Killed my expectations and excitement for gaming, seeing how greedy the industry is while giving us crumbs. We get a good game once a year it seems like.
The haptic feedback and Trigger functionality is in way more games than you think but you just don't think about it when it's being implemented.
MS is coming out with a haptic controller soon. Sony fans will stop talking about haptics when they do.

I can't wait for Xbox to start using haptic feedback. I just hope it's on every controller and not just a new Elite. It actually is really good but you start to just take it for granted because it becomes the new norm. It isn't until you go back to past Generations that you start to realize the difference. You really don't notice in games that have intense action because your brain is just preoccupied. Slower Paced games, stealth or even something like Demon's Souls remake is way more noticeable then something like Call of Duty. The triggers do stand out in Call of Duty though. People turn them off for response but I actually think it's cool enough to keep on. Remember Nintendo used haptics first but it should be used by everyone.
Not how they used it in astros playroom. That game actually utilizes the motion controls of the controller mixed in with all that other stuff like I have seen no other ps5 game done since

Maybe it's just because the short attention span of kids nowadays, or maybe technology is moving so fast companies are trying to keep up.
Sony consoles only last about 7 years. So it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the PS5 to be in its latter stages in 2024. RTX and graphic cards have only gotten better since the PS5's release. They definitely wanna take advantage of that.

Playstation portal was 200 dollars but couldn't even play games natively while the Ps Vita could play games and remote play as well for 249 dollars. Psvr2 even Sony studios shutting down saying it ain't worth supporting the system. Sony has just been fumbling this whole gen struggling to put out games at all much less next gen games.

I haven’t bought a ps5 yet, they got the slims at the stores near me. The reason I haven’t gotten one is because there isn’t a game pushing me to spend the cash, and when I still have fun playing Overwatch, Apex, Fortnite and the switch got me with the exclusives.

It takes 4-8 years to make a 'AAA' game nowadays. A single console gen lasts 7 years, ofc we're gonna have less games. That's why i always say that they need to size down...
Games either need to reduce their scope or gamers need to broaden their horizons and explore titles outside of the mega blockbuster releases. There's plenty of indie titles out there these days but a lot of console players straight up refuse to play them.
Id say more like 4-5 for your average big budget game. 8-10 year dev cycles like cyberpunk are anomalies and almost always caused by dev hell or scope creep.

Personally, in the grand scheme of things, the consul has been out for a little bit, and I think it was just the fact that it was so hard to get your hands on it in the beginning stages is what makes it feel like it’s all happening sooner than expected but to quote an earlier comment I saw it’s the latter half and not the latter stage so I’m not stressing. I think this year has been a little weird in some areas and both sides of the console, generations have made some strange decisions, if not outright crazy ones, but I can honestly say that I have been pretty satisfied with my game experience for this generation, I’ve gone to play all the games that I wanted to play and even got into a few games that just looked interesting to me. Overall, my gaming experience this year has been W
I meannnnnnn this news doesn't surprise me at all, most modern console life cycles last around 7 years so I can see Ps6 dropping around 2027. On top of this the Ps4 generation and even the PS3 to an extent didn't REALLY get good until like 5 years into the lifespan, so heres hoping that the Ps5 starts to kick into gear 2025 and after. The other funny thing is that a lot of people are saying that there hasn't been any games so far when they're actually lowkey wrong PS has been putting out a good amount of exclusives since 2020 (Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman 2, Returnal, Demon Souls Remake, Horizon 2, Ragnorok, Final Fantasy etc etc). I honestly feel like this generation has just had the illusion of feeling empty because there's been TOO many games everywhere and a lot of stuff just kinda gets forgotten.

Sony probably wants to jump ship. The pandemic really hurt the sales of the PS5 and both the PS5 and Xbox Series X came in boasting all this stuff, but when you get down to it, they didn't deliver on the hype they set.
I think the other big issue was that most of the games they did for the first few years were PS4 cross gen, which means that there was no reason for PS4 owners to go out and get a PS5 when half the games they can just get on PS4.
The hype was crazy and made you feel like you needed to get a ps5 but that was it the hype was for the console only.
And sony did not where that 8k on the box?
I honestly only got a PS5 because of Dragon's Dogma 2 coming out in March.

For me I wanted ps5 day 1 for demon souls remake (never played OG) and to play the superior version of miles moralis and ive kept up with 1st/2nd/3rd party exclusives and multiplats and ive got a backlog 40 feet high. this november will be 4 years since the launch, normal console cycles were 5-6 years, the ps3 to ps4 and ps4 to ps5 were longer than expended so i see no problem
Bruh! I ain't even get a PS5 yet due to me finishing my backlog games first. And if this title is accurate, I'm so thankful for my backlog because this generation been disappointing from what I've been seeing. Guess I'll take my sweet time beating the games on my backlog list because this is just more bad news for gaming in my opinion.

surprisingly out of all the ps5 titles ive played, i will say returnal is the only one that felt next gen to me. Mainly because, like you are saying, they actually used the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers they were advertising. in order to use the secondary fire on your gun, you had to push past the minor resistance in the trigger. dope feature and this type of mechanic, yet simple, should be used across the board with ps5 exclusives.

Stellar blade will be on ps5 only ff7 rebirth i beveled will be only on ps5 , returnal was only on ps5, ratchet and clank rift apart is only on PS5, ff16 , death stranding 2 will only be on ps5 wolverine etc
@@edwardjones1482 Ratchet and Returnal are on PC, FF16 is coming to PC, and DS1 is on PC so it makes sense for DS2 to go there eventually. And we’re talking current games, so that’s not even 5.
@@SteelSpursnowadays both Microsoft and Sonys exclusives will go to pc. Sony games just longer after a few years. See GOW and Horizon for examples.

Playing Astro’s playroom was an amazing experience and really got me excited for the generation of gaming that was to come. But I have to admit it has been a tad bit disappointing.
Even the triple A exclusives, while great games, didn’t satisfy my expectations for this generation. Mostly due to devs staying on PS4 and basically porting to PS5.
Console generations tend to take a few years to really get up an going so I’m still optimistic.
Just look how long the PS4 took to receive some of it’s best games. God of War and Spider-Man didn’t launch until 2018. 5 years after the console’s launch. I think we felt better as consumers because we knew by 2016 that those games were coming thanks to E3. But now that it’s gone we just find ourselves waiting around unsure that our purchase was worth it.
Whatever they release in 2025 needs to truly set the standard for the industry to satisfy us as consumers.

@Someguy_97 it does sell hardware but not the MAJORITY of it. It's more about the brand image and identity. They create true fans of the console that don't just play it for cod or fifa and will follow the brand for years. I for instance play nearly ever ps exclusive since ps3. I play multiplats but I know why I bought only a ps4/5/switch. One of my homies only plays a few ps exclusives and another friend of mine plays literally nothing but cod and battlefield, another friend only plays a free soccer game. Most ppl are like the latter guys.

I bought both a xbox, ps last gen alongside PC. I personally think this gen has been meh, I haven't bought a PS5 yet, I wanted for FF16 at first but then I changed my mind, I see no reason for it. My PC is still playing new games on 1080p on medium at least, I can even do ultra with Geforce now since I got good internet and that's fine for me, so I'll just wait for PS games to get a PC port, there's not a crazy exclusive released yet that I'm like... yeah, I need to buy a PS5 as soon as possible because I can't wait.

I feel like as I get older, the gap between each gen feels smaller which is maybe why this gen feels underwhelming for a lot of people. Also, as a kid, getting a new console was exciting and felt special because we didn't have the money to just go out and buy every console on release. Now it doesn't feel like as big of a deal

I remember getting my xbox 360 for Christmas - that was a big deal back then, being able to play games online, playing in HD for the first time etc. Compared to when I got my ps5 on launch - it was exciting but between all the adult responsibilities I have now, it's just not the same
It was better then, like I had a ps3 but that’s the last gen I remember also wanting an Xbox. Pretty sure my ps5 my last console n I only got it cuz of my digital library which will keep me busy. Still got my og ps3 idk bout your Xbox tho 🤣 I remember those early models struggling to stay alive. 360 players were treated good tho, cod time dlc exclusives, bioshock, dead rising, gears, halo 3 I wanted halo 3 so bad. I feel like I got into more serious PC gaming at the perfect time which was right after the me and my friends signed off Xbox Live on our 360’s for the last time. Last generation and this generation console wise just have never been close to the highs of those days for me.
PC ends up getting most of the games today and Microsoft / Sony have been and said they will be pushing harder to put their games on it. Then add in the fact that I emulate everything from Nintendo Switch and PS3 back to SNES and if you think about it, basically in due time every console game WILL come to PC. Nintendo will never go for it, but then again I don’t mind buying their generally cheaper consoles for the franchises like Zelda and Mario.

I’m so confused. I don’t think we’ve scratched the surface yet on these next generations graphics we were promised than on top of that raised the price of subscription services. Do they even care about the gaming community at all? I’ve always known it was a business but it used to seem as though there were some people in the industry who actually cared and were true gamers themselves.
