Is there a class-action yet? I bought the useless "physical" games and console way back when and was holding out hope. Their last email killed whatever shred of hope I had left.
I am a less-than casual gamer, but have wanted to get into gaming more. I played a lot more in the late 80's/early 90's when I was a child. I was too young (born in 1981) to play Intellivision when it came out, but have fond memories of playing my older cousin's and younger aunt's (two separate people, I promise) Intellivision at my Grandma's house during the summers when I was in elementary and middle school. So, when I caught wind that a new Intellivision was coming out, I was pretty interested in the concept. I had no idea who Tommy Tallarico was, or any of the backstory. I'll even admit to some animosity towards Pat & Ian for trashing it (Sorry guys! In my defense I didn't know the whole story until pretty recently). But luckily for me, I was never as invested psychologically (and thankfully financially) as the full-on Kool-Aid drinkers; for me it was more of a passing interest and a "That would be neat". Fast-forward a couple years, and I am thoroughly enjoying Tommy Tallarico eat shit. It's always fun watching a malignant narcissist self-aggrandize their way into their just desserts. As for the concept itself, if they had just stuck with a low-powered console with some basic, casual games for under $150 (on top of not having a raging megalomaniac in charge) and actually come out with the product, I bet they could have had a small but dedicated niche following. But, narcissists can't do small-thing-appreciated-by-a-small-number-of-people.
I think Intellivision do own a few more IPs - Cloudy Mountain, Night Stalker and Thin Ice are three that immediately come to mind and are probably the most well known after Astrosmash and Shark Shark. Pretty sure they also own Tower of Doom, Buzz Bombers, Thunder Castle, Star Strike, Hover Force, Stadium Mud Buggies and Frog Bog, but who outside of the old school Intellivision fans know what most of those are? Yeah, pickings are pretty slim.
Just when you think this Amico debacle can't get any funnier or more ridiculous, it does, or heck, continues at all! How is this zombie company still going?! Wow, selling off those games was a really bad move. I could see licensing them out, but selling them completely?! It's really baffling, since the CEO even mentioned licensing deals. A great episode by you guys as always! I was laughing out loud literally!
I wish i could give this video more than one like, you have absolutely nailed the commentary on this cluster f. Of a company. The sheer incompetence of flushing 17 mill down the toilet, with almost nothing to show for it. If there is a class action lawsuit this vid should be exhibit A!
That entire statement, and yet, he never mentioned where they were in terms of the launchpad, or how much fuel they needed. I'm surprised. It'll probably be in stores any minute now.
It's genuinely amazing that nearly half a decade in, this is still going. It's incredible how far a little bit of cult of personality will take you. I wish I was more charming and had less morals, it seems super easy to separate fools from their money with a few well told lies. 17 million dollars, unbelievable.
The funny thing about Atari is that a number of years ago they did in fact try to sell off their IP. Thankfully, they only managed to sell Battlezone - which is kinda bad enough when you consider it's absence from Atari 50.
At least Atari's buying IPs now. Stern (Berserk) and even M-Network games. That kind of pivot isn't uncommon when there's been at least 2 re-orgs in 13 years. I don't know the terms of the Battlezone sell so it might either revert after a certain time or could be 'repurchased' with first right of refusal.
10 years wasn’t enough regularity for ya? I figure it’s all jokes but the amount of comments pushing for regular podcasts when these grown men, who have paid their due, clearly want to move on…it’s tiring.
"Attack on Tommy" makes me imagine gigantic, skinless Tommy Tallarico monsters. And believe me, it's not easy to imagine a gigantic Tommy Tallarico, skinless or otherwise.
Nope. At this point, anything that has an attachment with Intellivision, even the original company and the old games, is poisoned now. There is no point to ever touch anything associated with that company again. Those three titles on Steam have been promptly classified as ignored and I refuse to purchase them. Considering the pedigree, I can't guarantee the games won't stop working and light themselves on fire upon install.
1. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give Slope's Game Room a review unit after he featured Tommy and the Amico in one of his KickScammer videos lol. 2. I would argue back in 2018 the console wasn't a horrible idea, just terribly executed as Tommy didn't know where to focus, and rather kept trying to compare to the Wii when what he was proposing to offer was an extremely watered down version of why the Wii was as successful as it was. The Amico would have: no games above 10+. No online multiplayer, and by extension would be safe to assume no streaming capabilities. Etc The Wii had a range of games for all ages. Online multiplayer Later added netflix streaming A library of backward games to fall on. Etc. Bringing up 2020 the pandemic also didnt help bring confidence to the console when we were shown a time where online reigned supreme for obvious reasons. Sadly it made the whole main pitch of getting friends and family together for game night a laughing stock. PR also wasnt helped with Tommy considering majority of gamers ( which when you stop to think about is terrible because a good chunk of them were people who grew up with titles he worked on) basment dwellers lol. Geez Tommy really single handedly built a ship and sunk it down lol.
6 figures for two key IPs they sold. When this cast asked where will the money go and then mentioned $100,000; The first thing I thought was, “Where did ai hear that figure before?” It would be funny if it was simply to pay that $100,000 to that one company, for the office equipment which they were getting sued for.
I just love hearing Ian laugh his lungs out,its just awsome, wish he could have been at the game expo with Pat, love meeting Pat for the first time.wish u were their too Ian and Frank!
I know Shark Shark is an old Intellivision name, but can we all agree that the name absolutely is stupid. When this stupid venture was thought up, it was 2018 and by then we had many better names by now. Shark Shark and all its ilk should have been on an Atari 50's classic type cart, then use that to make more games. A modern Moon Patrol with fun cartoony graphics for example could be great.
i remember before all this started i use to love watching a youtuber called john riggs, but he made videos on how was excited about the amico and the games but when it all fell apart he never made a update video and just hid away. I miss watching that guy
And he removed his "10 reasons NOT to buy the Intellivision Amico" (which was totally sarcastic, as he was an Amico supporter), after all the delays and he finally realized it was never coming out.
Instead of making his mother proud. Tommy is making Keith proud. The company he kept together since the 80s will now be sold off piece by piece by Mr. Liquidation phil adam. Great job tommy Keith is smiling from above. 🙄
As the guys from the great "Who are these Podcasts" always say when anyone says the term "6 figures" it is definitely no more than 200 thousand. You only say that if its very close to 100,000.
Around 2:35, the reason for the erratic graphic style is likely due to the models being bought from an asset store. I've seen this kind of thing before.
I mean let's be honest here. At this point these people are just like: "Okay, we have a curated list of suckers here, let's see how much more we can squeeze out of them". Listening to this, it sounds as legit and professional as a NFT rugpull discord server.
Shark Shark being sold off hits hard for me, since it was the first video game I ever played. 😢 Screw you, Tommy. You were trusted with this brand and you’ve maligned it and left it to die.
The reason Bomberman was originally named Dynablaster in Europe was that in the 80s when the original game was brought over to European computers, the term "bomber man" was associated in the UK with the IRA and their bombings across the nation.
I love watching updates on this, specially when Ian's blood sugar gets out of whack and he starts getting all wide eyed and hyper and speaking REALLY LOUD
I love how the perks of being part of the amico club list (which is supposed to be a thank you for maintaining your investment) boils down to "you get to be the first to give us MORE money"
I find it hilarious that these games will be on switch after Tommy was super head hunting nintendo as a console you wont see games like these on. I cant stop laughing at the irony. BBG did a good job buying them since they were the ones developing them hopefully they will do something better than what Tommy and his goons did to the franchises.
Skiing, before I learned it was only 20 levels long or whatever, was the only game that looked at least somewhat appealing out of any of the ones they showed. It was the only one that maybe looked like it came from a studio with some understanding of creative direction, which it didnt, because they had none of that, you know, the main thing you need to release multiple games on a console with consistent quality. But it at least had some level of art direction, and dare I say, some actual ambition to design a world around the levels, and the loosest and most visual of senses.
It’s not baffling at all, it’s called access journalism, and it’s the same reason game review sites lost relevancy; they get product to act as unofficial marketing.
It's called pure stupidity. There was zero intelligent reason to only send review units to their pathetic shills with paltry amounts of followers or subs
LMAO, I died when listing all actual physical products out there. There's the 1up arcade unites, and those have lots of variations in the span of 4 years. THERE ARE WAYS!
Cornhole doesnt use motion controls, you have to set angle and height then the throw is just a button press by moving the gyrometer. That is your system seller Tommy?
Astrosmash should have been a built in game with a more pixel look to it (updated yet tasteful and still remind you of those old days). It could have been beautiful and updated with some clever gameplay additions *(yet still remain simple and fun). It was a great simple game with great sounds and the graphics still appeal to me. Using the generic Unity art style on most Intellivision remakes was a mistake. Cohesive art draws you in. Lack of art cohesion breaks the illusion.
Shark Shark could have been something like Aquaria except more nonviolet. Maybe you're exploring a long ago abandoned underwater civilization, collecting the treasures?
Keith Robinson (RIP) is turning over in his grave right now. *Edit* I literally paused the video, typed this comment, then pressed play, and those exact words came out of Pat's mouth. 😅
I wouldn't say exactly since he is still giving the cult drip feed to entice them the console is eventually coming. Only once the company has either fully gone under or they say in undeniable terms that can't be comprehended any other way the console is no longer a percivable reality.
Er, it's not like they're rooting for it to lose. They just didn't see it as super viable, and then Tallarico got butthurt because they misquoted the cost and were worried about the target demographic. Now here's where it gets interesting, because usually people don't put their foot in their mouth while their head is lodged really far into their ass because it is physically impossible, but not only did he do so, he managed to do it repeatedly so that he was effectively fucking himself up the ass. It was really pretty incredible and I hope he's *really* into feet because he got a mouthful You can't do that on any other console either, only Amico
I miss having my weekly Amico dumpster fire. Always a good time. Started with two guys saying it might not have be a market, and is ending with Intellivision saying "It's production ready, I swear" for like 3 years straight. The fact that it's 4-5 years later, they still can't do anything but keep digging themselves into a hole, and their only semi viable option of having any sort of cash flow, is doing exactly what Pat and Ian said from the very beginning, releasing the games on other platforms.
So i literally clicked on this video wothout knowing who you guts are, so....thanks for the update. Ive subbed, hopefully there will be more regulsr posting so i can stay subbed. Cheers!
They attempted to sell their license to Roller Coaster Tycoon but nobody bought it. It wasn't the actual rights though, Atari just licenses it from the creator.

It is really really sad where this is going for Intellivsion's legacy. I mean, it was already in the sh*tter... but this just makes it worse. Just kill the Amico entirely, sell off the entire library and brand to anyone who will do something worth while with it.
Now we can't even hope someone with sense gets in control of the company and releases new INtellivision compilations on the Switch with an optional replica INTV controller accessory, this is genuinely the worst possible outcome.

Lock N Chase
Other than Cloudy Mountains and Night Talker, I don’t know if the other games were real or random words you put together.
"Amico Go!" Would have been the better and low hanging fruit for their mobile option.
If a step forward costs 17m, how many steps do you need to reach the finish line?
The email straight up spells out "This thing is never coming out!"
They could literally have dropshipped something from AliExpress that was more functional than what they ended up with and have millions left over.
It's genuinely amazing that nearly half a decade in, this is still going. It's incredible how far a little bit of cult of personality will take you. I wish I was more charming and had less morals, it seems super easy to separate fools from their money with a few well told lies. 17 million dollars, unbelievable.
I know, I'm so jealous of people who can sleep at night after purposefully scamming people.
the amico/tommy situation is the gift that just keeps on giving.
Wow, these Pat and Ian characters are pretty entertaining. They should make this type of video on a regular basis.
10 years wasn’t enough regularity for ya? I figure it’s all jokes but the amount of comments pushing for regular podcasts when these grown men, who have paid their due, clearly want to move on…it’s tiring.
@@minimalchillpersonally i would be flattered and feel somewhat of a success on the platform if that was the case. No need to be so neg my man!
At this point, Amico is the gift that keeps on giving, even after you've begged and pleaded for it to stop a long time ago.
It is the Jelly of the month club
The Amico would have:
no games above 10+.
No online multiplayer, and by extension would be safe to assume no streaming capabilities. Etc
The Wii had
a range of games for all ages.
Online multiplayer
Later added netflix streaming
A library of backward games to fall on.
The ongoing Amico news makes me so glad I decided to go in on the Evercade instead.
6 figures for two key IPs they sold. When this cast asked where will the money go and then mentioned $100,000; The first thing I thought was, “Where did ai hear that figure before?” It would be funny if it was simply to pay that $100,000 to that one company, for the office equipment which they were getting sued for.
I love how much the both of you got into the nuts and bolts of what stood out to you both in these declarations.
Yes, the name is dumb dumb.
Exactly, this is the correct way on how to dismantle a company. Sell it off in parts, stuff your pockets and leave the scene.
i remember before all this started i use to love watching a youtuber called john riggs, but he made videos on how was excited about the amico and the games but when it all fell apart he never made a update video and just hid away. I miss watching that guy
And he removed his "10 reasons NOT to buy the Intellivision Amico" (which was totally sarcastic, as he was an Amico supporter), after all the delays and he finally realized it was never coming out.
He is a shill and a clown
@@Rando1975 true that. The video lives on on other people's channels, though.
Dude all the games look like mobile games from 2008 that would be available on the iPod touch
Who would be excited for this?
The victory lap to end them all!!! Watching Ian start howling made my night.
9:03 - Ian chugs a gulp of Ballast Point, "Ah, it's good to be back"! Right on
😂 Great Intro. I love how the Doc directly speaks to people’s hearts.
i cant belive this amico stuff is still going on
I literally was looking for a recent podcast on this very topic and low and behold, 4 days ago you dropped one, PERFECT.
“Those who supported us early on have laid the foundation for all that we’ve been able to achieve…”
WHAT?!!! What have you achieved in FOUR YEARS!
Well they strung along a handful of people who are convinced Intellivision Entertainment is the greatest thing ever.
Instead of making his mother proud. Tommy is making Keith proud. The company he kept together since the 80s will now be sold off piece by piece by Mr. Liquidation phil adam. Great job tommy Keith is smiling from above. 🙄
Perfect timing. I've been overthinking life recently and needed some Amico talk to get the mind off it.
I'm gonna tell my kids this was Woodward and Bernstein.
Really good episode! Ian bursting out laughing at the people who "held" their pre-orders still was the top moment!
yes, but the word was "maintained."
I mean let's be honest here. At this point these people are just like: "Okay, we have a curated list of suckers here, let's see how much more we can squeeze out of them". Listening to this, it sounds as legit and professional as a NFT rugpull discord server.
I wonder if even AtGames would be willing to work with these people?
He keeps saying they’re making steps forward to avoid a lawsuit
Shark! Shark! is 15 USD on Steam.
15 USD. What the bloody Hell?
Meanwhile Feeding Frenzy 2 Deluxe is $4.99 On Steam. 😆
Amico is the amway of video games
Shark Shark being sold off hits hard for me, since it was the first video game I ever played. 😢
Screw you, Tommy. You were trusted with this brand and you’ve maligned it and left it to die.
The reason Bomberman was originally named Dynablaster in Europe was that in the 80s when the original game was brought over to European computers, the term "bomber man" was associated in the UK with the IRA and their bombings across the nation.
BIG! BIG! Update.
I love watching updates on this, specially when Ian's blood sugar gets out of whack and he starts getting all wide eyed and hyper and speaking REALLY LOUD
we all knew this was doomed from the start
i wonder how the shells are thinking
I love how the perks of being part of the amico club list (which is supposed to be a thank you for maintaining your investment) boils down to "you get to be the first to give us MORE money"
I'm sure that if Keith Robinson could see what happened with the Intellvision, he'd be gald he's dead.
Amico presents: I.P. Market Madness! Pat's personal nightmare episode! And Tommy Talerico teams up with the Storage Wars guy 😂
To me this console(if youcan call it that), looks like a portable land line phone you charge .
Anybody that looked at this system and thought it could be anything had to be mental.
It’s not baffling at all, it’s called access journalism, and it’s the same reason game review sites lost relevancy; they get product to act as unofficial marketing.
It's called pure stupidity. There was zero intelligent reason to only send review units to their pathetic shills with paltry amounts of followers or subs
I can’t believe this Amico drama is still ongoing.
Even though they Analog did a short run years ago in a wood shell, they need to do a NeoGeo AES.
LMAO, I died when listing all actual physical products out there. There's the 1up arcade unites, and those have lots of variations in the span of 4 years. THERE ARE WAYS!
17 million dollars for a couple prototypes
I love these "super show" styled casts. Makes the podcast feel special.
Yeah, I'm glad they didn't put a full stop the show, even if it means we only get episodes every few months.
Cornhole doesnt use motion controls, you have to set angle and height then the throw is just a button press by moving the gyrometer. That is your system seller Tommy?
I wonder what the people in Blue Sky Rangers think of this.
I just want a remastered version of B-17 Bomber. Otherwise, I'm not interested in anything they're doing!
Keith Robinson (RIP) is turning over in his grave right now.
*Edit*
I literally paused the video, typed this comment, then pressed play, and those exact words came out of Pat's mouth. 😅
I think tommy is officially the uve bol of the videogame industry
With Phil’s admittance that the Amico console is pretty much done, would this technically be the Victory Lap for Pat and Ian?
It was really pretty incredible and I hope he's *really* into feet because he got a mouthful
You can't do that on any other console either, only Amico
Cheers!
Was the phrase Pat was looking for "eating the seed corn," a metaphor for a shortsighted act that will cost more down the line?
That's a good saying.
To be fair about Atari: Atari did sell off Battlezone, Aline in the Dark and (I think) Rollercoaster Tycoon.
They attempted to sell their license to Roller Coaster Tycoon but nobody bought it. It wasn't the actual rights though, Atari just licenses it from the creator.
Seeing this video pop up in my feed was like seeing mom (Pat) and dad (Ian) back together after the divorce… even though in your heart you know they are only “back together” Because mom is dropping you off at dad’s for the weekend 😢
I really want someone to pull Tommy aside and ask him what it feels like to have personally destroyed a childhood brand of his.
The plot somehow thickens lol Great Pod as always guys!!
Pat is sad he didn't get the Amico prototype! Hahaha!
It's only a joke, watch Amico drones try to push that notion though.
It's a neverending story.
