Amazing honest down to earth review ! Thank for helping me out feel better about my purchase. I had massive fomo missing out on a slightly reduced forged jpx 921. I instead went for a new set of jpx 921 hot metal pro. Considering I am no way near tour level pro. I feel the better look and forgiveness of the hmp will do just fine !

Well done Andrew. What I have found is that a forged club provides more consistent distances across the face where a cast club can tend to have a hot spot on it that will send the ball 10-15 yards longer than normal on that occasional perfect swing lol. Forged clubs do require more maintenance than cast clubs (lofts and lies should be checked annually) and I believe that the softer metal used in forged clubs can make them slightly more prone to wear more quickly.

If you go with Mizuno, you go with forged clubs. Forging is the key here, Mizuno is famous in forging.
If you select cast iron, you may go with anything

Thanks for this review Andrew. From whatI’ve seen you’re the only guy who’s done this comparison. It seems to me that a lot of HMP players, like me, are interested in the next step up the ladder, ie Hot Metal forged. That said, I love my 919 HMP’s.

Sole width, top line thinner on forged, better on the eyes. Also, can’t see the back of the 7 iron on the forged, 2’ in loft difference. I had the 919 HM and just switched to 921 forged. No looking back, love them!

Feel is subjective ..but I felt for sure the difference between the JPX 921 Tour , Forged and the MP20MB. For me the MP20 MB gave the buttery feel , the Tour also very soft but not buttery as the MP20 MB and the Forged soft but also for me more “springy” / “ clicky” feeling. But as I mentioned feel is subjective and is also (mostly) influenced by what you hear.

Great review. I have all 3 sets of the 919...HMP, Forged and Tour. Have been mixing them but have come to find that the HMP's just go left a lot. Definite draw bias vs the other 2. Love the look and feel of the tours but on days when the swing isn't there, they don't make golf fun! So that leaves me the Forged. Probably the best setup but they look big. Just ordered the 921F and am excited to see how they perform...

I play Calloway Apex Pro forged irons. I'd be interested in the JPX921 forged but they don't come left handed. I did switch from a Calloway driver and 3 wood to Mizuno ST200 and love them. Would like a ST200 5 wood but Mizuno doesn't build one for lefties.
One of these days maybe they'll recognize there are lefties out there as they are losing some potential sales. Fwiw. i'm 69 years old and play off a 9 handicap.

Great review Andrew! Long time Mizuno fan, I’m sure ive mentioned this before but i have had 2 sets of Mizuno irons.. in 2010 i was fit for MP-58’s, played with them for nearly 7 years,, loved them but obviously they weren’t very forgiving. In 2017 i was fit for JPX-900 Forged, felt the BORON made them a little hard feeling and had a issue with the 8 iron with the grooves collapsing.. After about 20 rounds and 1 year i tried to get a replacement 8 iron but Mizuno said they out of warranty.. (By nearly a month). I wound up replacing the 8 iron then selling the set on eBay
So now I’m “IRONLESS” after selling my Callaway Apex ‘19 Pro Forged irons because i wasn’t getting enough backspin...
Will be going for a custom fit early next year and my 3 contenders will be Mizuno JPX-921, Ping i210 and TM P770. Independent of price which iron would you pick ? The Ping i210’s are a players iron and the 921’s and the 770’s are players distance irons , so really not a direct comparison. Looks, feel & forgiveness will be my deciding factors.

I have seen other videos on youtube and the shaft length gets mentioned being longer than standard. i did see a video recently where it was noted mizuno do make their clubs slightly shorter - say half an inch? perhaps I misheard this but wondering if you know if this is the case. I am only 5.7 so a shorter length shaft appeals greatly to me as all my current clubs are standard off the shelf and I feel I am missing a trick here! Thanks again

Yes, £1,000 is a fair piece of change but really not so different from what I paid for Ping Gs about 3 years ago. I also rationalized the price on a per round basis and that convinced she who must be obeyed. This video has me now asking myself Ping or Mizuno? Similar prices here in Australia so that's not a differentiator, and the Mizuno quality is right up there (or is it Andrew?). Forge will give you better consistant ball carry, Hot metal giving different distances. I have forge on order with the Nippon Neo shaft ... December delivery !!

Maybe Kevin, think it depends on who is hitting it! Delivery from Mizuno at the moment is very challenging. Hope you get them for Xmas.

I got fit for the forged, but am getting the NSPro 950GH HT in SR flex. Got fit in Osaka, Japan. Going to place my order today. 2 week wait time.

Hi Andrew. Such an honest and unbiased review! Thanks. I’m currently gaming a 2017 p790 and love them. I’m contemplating on shifting to Mizuno jpx921. What model will you suggest? The forged or HMP? Thank you in advance.

Hi Jeff, my advice always in this situation is to book in a fitting at your local Mizuno Fitting Centre.
