    Outstanding video! Appreciate the work you put in…you are a unicorn in mentioning that someone with a low handicapper may not necessarily have a high swing speed. I’m a 7 HCP and my 7 iron swing speed is low 80s. When I saw Mizuno came out with the HL I was excited. However, after hitting it, I can’t play it…it’s way too big for me and the offset is massive…I grew up learning on a set of Chi Chi Rodriguez blades and have trouble hitting more game improvement type clubs…I was fitted and purchased a set of 923 HMP and they are very big for me and I tend to hit it all over the face giving me up to 30 yards difference in carries…So, went the other direction and got fitted for the 221s and absolutely love them. I hit them so much better than all the others I’ve tried (including the 223 and 225)…I just wish they made something in this size with a little more zip…my 7 irons are going about 145 or so, which I don’t mind, but more importantly, the 221s give me a much better landing angle, closer to 47 degrees, over the HMPs which is around 43…hopefully someday the tech will be there to make a hot MB version of the 221s, sort of like Titleist did with the T100 and T100s!! (I played the T100s for a while and they are great)….but love my Mizzies…

    I can confirm that the HL are a superb iron after just using mine for the first time last weekend, the hype is real. I can swing from low 70's up to 80mph with 7 iron depending on how I'm feeling on the day so I went with these, even after being recommended the standard Hot Metal by a club fitter. I'm so happy I went with my gut feeling & checked the ego at the door ( went 6i-gw with DG105 regular). Great review & overall content, really enjoying the channel. 👍⛳

    I would echo his comment about getting fitted for the right head. AND, don’t think bigger is always better. I am about a 7HCP, but getting a little older (54), had 2 hip replacements, back issues, etc., and had always played more of a blade/MB in my younger days. After a 3 year hiatus for my second hip replacement I was back, but slower, so figured I needed more help with speed and decided to get professionally fitted. I told the fitter I needed more distance help and I didn’t care about the brand. I hit just about every player distance and game improvement iron out there. We settled (key word here), on the Titleist T200 irons. Played them for 6 months and absolutely hated it…they performed well, but the sound/feel was terrible. Then, after doing some testing on my own, wound up with Titleist T100s irons and immediately everything was better…but, missed my old Mizunos (MP 69/59 blended set). So, went to get fitted for Mizzies and did the same thing (I need distance)…got fitted for JPX 923 HMPs. Great club, but the club just appeared huge to me and I had a tough time with consistency…thought I might need a bigger club…tried the HM and HL…worse…then, just for S&G, we tried the 225…223…221s….out of all of them, I hit the 221s most consistently. So, I’m not bombing my 7 iron 165 (closer to 145), but I hit this consistent and accurately and haven’t looked back…so, yes, get fitted, but also, don’t limit yourself…I was shocked how forgiving modern blades are (there really aren’t any blades out there anymore…the 221s are a MB and the JPX tour a CB - same with most other brands)…and they feel amazing!!!I still have both sets (JPX 921 HMP and 221s). Hoping to be able to play the HMPs some day…I was the last of my buddies to go to the 460cc driver head…just seemed like a clown club to me for years…

    My Brother has the JPX 923 Hot Metal and have to say if you are Mid Handicap Player these are great option. They have very good Distant and Forgiveness and they are Sexy looking Club. Also I noticed 7 Iron and Higher the Spin Rate are fantastic. I personally have Callaway Rogue St MAX OS and currently 15 Handicap and like the Spin Rate on JPX 923 over MAX OS. But like the Distant I get with MAX OS over the JPX. I do like the Feedback in Feel you get when you miss hit Club with JPX 923 over MAX OS. Can't go wrong with either one just make sure you get the Right Shaft based on your Swing Speed. I personally Prefer Iron Shaft over Graphite but I know with the right Graphite Shaft you can get more Distant if needed.

    Jay, great review, have 78-80 mph 7iron speed. Want forgiveness but don’t like big offset or junky, what do, do you think if hot metal pro 2 degrees weak makes sense? Thanks Ron , keep up the great work.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  Рік тому

      Could do that Ron, but without being able to change the CG of the head, all that might happen would be messing about with the bounce and offset. High Launch options have to be achieved by one of 2 ways, 1, slightly larger head design with lower further back CG, or 2 same head design but lighter construction (head and shaft combo) to move the mass faster, create more head speed, thus ball speed to increase peak height and land angle. The later though has the effect of lowering the forgiveness level of the iron and can make it somewhat unstable. Really the only true way to make a HL head design is to use the 1st option..... The negative of that though unfortunately is the increase in head dimensions 👍

      My reply didn't seem to have gone through so I'll try and remember what I said before 😊
      I used my software this week so definitely absolutely no problem with the software or analysis tool. Unfortunately many a time, incompetencies within the fitter blames software to hardware issues. Any time you have tools that enhance the experience of the client, it depends on the fitter/professional spending the time to know how it works intimately. This in my experience with the number of peoples comments is seldom frequent 😕 couple that with the ball side of things and not being able to complete the fitting using your own gamer ball would have made me want to walk out. Was it a paid for or free fitting? I guess it's an excuse to hit on a launch monitor but by using all different kinds and types of ball in the shag bag, that alone will create inconsistent results 😭🤦🤦

      @AskGolfNut  Рік тому

      Hi Anthony, not something that I have heard a lot of people questioning (the chroming). I know that sods law says someone will get a dud qc head at some point. But more often 99.9% of the time it's been 2 clubs coming into contact with each other. Obviously 1 would be Mizunos job to fix (that's why it's imperative to ensure a full inspection of the product is conducted on arrival) and then the other obviously is the owners. Too many people (seen it soooo many times) drop their clubs into the bag if even from a few inches and it's just bad luck how to clubs come together at that angle and chip a piece off or dent an edge.
      Really unfortunately unless you know which one it is, the only thing you can do is try to keep the small ding clean and dry. 👍
