You and your sister are a hoot! Your whole family is hilarious, Christine. Thank you and your sister for sharing this pantry makeover/reorganization video.
I know this may be controversial but dare I say she is my favorite of your siblings, she seems super sweet and like your entire family has a good wit and sense of humor about her. Great job!
This kills me. My hubby is a carpenter so we would have just removed the shelving and put the shelves the longway. But you did awsome for not doing a remodel.😊
And I don't know if you know but you know flower once you open flour if you don't use it in so many months there's these little bugs that GAR in it and my mom calls on weevils look in your flower if you haven't had your flour for too long they will have little bugs in it it's really weird I don't know how they get there but they get there cuz I happen to me and my mom pointing him out I cannot believe I have little weevils in my flower
@@cherylgriffin9242 In some areas of the world it's almost unavoidable. Some insects will even get their eggs into the cardbord boxes that hold cereal etc and you'll bring them into your pantry like that. It's best to throw away the box at the store and fill the food into jars with these flip tops as soon as you get home. They are the only thing that these pesky bugs (moth larvae in her case) seem to cannot get into. My mother had to replace her pantry multiple times until she found that out. They can even chew through unopened plastic bags and get into closed tupperware. It's very frustrating.
@@cherylgriffin9242 That's true. One way to avoid that is to freeze your flour first, before you store it in the pantry - kills anything that might hatch later.
Snacks- labeled and at kids reachable level! This way they’re less likely to mess the place up! And help themselves without a step stool and replace things in the correct area themselves! Thanks!
Looks awesome! My first thought was that I would put a more shallow shelf on the long wall which would probably still allow for a shallow shelf on the back wall. I would've gone with a 10.5" shelf which is the equivalent of 3 cans deep.
Love you two together. You're like my sister and me. It's like you have your own language. Sentences can be finished by the other one. I love it! Great organization tips.
So thankful that we have a pantry at our new house! The last house didn't have any sort of pantry. Our pantry now does have water heaters in it which makes it unusually warm in there which is kind of weird.
Christine, great minds think alike! I also have a deep pantry (more like a deep cabinet, since it's a former built-in refrigerator 😂) and have used shelf organizers with the short side facing the cabinet door! Loved the whole reorganization (and the pink tools, OMG!!) ❤️️
Looks good. I feel that the black shelves should have went on the other wall so that when u open the door and walk in u don't walk into the shelves. Now you have to open the door full to go in. Also, when organizing those shelves you said kids snacks and then put baking stuff. The kids snack would have been smart so it keeps the kids from going all the way into the pantry. Then the shelves in that side of the wall would have made sense.
You two are too funny. Thanks for the laugh!! :) Pantry looks great. And yes, I would have done the "grab and go" snacks in the black baskets for the kids.
One small suggestion - for those paper plates, etc. that she rarely uses - I think you could probably fit a shelf directly over the door inside the pantry for very rarely used items. That way they’d be out of the way, but wouldn’t take up space elsewhere.
In the future something to consider for a deep pantry is the moveable shelves. I saw it on a cabinet for a family I cleaned for. It was 3 layers of shelves and the front 2 layers swiveled out. Then there was narrow shelves on the door for pouches and the tiny tomato paste and soup cans
Great job! You and your sister together are GOLD! 😅 My small home is short on storage space too. For a make do pantry, I took a 5 shelf metal shelf unit, added 2 shelves from another unit, measured the heights of cans and my storage containers, and customized it to maximize what I could fit on each shelf. For my hall closet, that stores cleaning supplies, personal care items, light bulbs, bulk TP & tissues, soaps lotions & potions from Costco, meds; I did it completely different. I took out the three wood shelves set 2 ft apart, and installed 6 tight wire shelves on the hanging brackets that I can adjust the spacing. I have large and shoe box-sized Sterilite containers to organize all the stuff. Then I have a metal over the door hanging unit with tons of stuff on the inside of the door. Still isn't perfect, but a small cry from before.
Great job. You forget over the door shelves or bolt to door shelving. If there isn't a light add a LED under counter bar strip to a shelf or two. You and you sister have so much fun. Yes you can never have enough Jambalaya mix on hand. Great video.
Great job! Could make the shelves wider and use risers if needed. Over the door organizer for soups too. That way it is going to be jammed in there. Could keep a broom in there too. Looks great!
A tip for the plastic grocery bags, I use an empty tissue box and stuff them in one at a time, then they will pop out easily like tissues and its amazing how many of those suckers you can fit in the box!!!!! (Although I kind of like the bag with the guy on it😂😁) So happy to see a Lauren again! I have a pantry kind of like this, its wider but ridiculously deep..mim hoping my son can install the pull out shelves in it this summer.
One of my pet peeves is when I see people put new product on their old product like the old won't go bad. Take it out and put new in first. I keep smaller containers to use up the old first.
Love your videos as always...your mom and man bag...omg!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 One thing, get those rings off the homemade jams and jellies!! You never want to store home canned jars with the rings because their may be a false seal.
I LOVE you with your sister!!! So much like my sister and I. I am in CT, she is in FL. Wish we could spend more time together, but on the phone almost daily.
I just love watching you and your husbands videos in the morning! Best way to start the day! My kids will get on your channels to see if there is anything new every morning because they know I’ll postpone school to watch you 🤣 we just love you and your family!
I have very deep shelves, too. Drives me nuts! Re plastic bags: if you take a minute to press all the air out of them and fold them up small, you can store them in an old, empty tissue box. Grab one at a time. Takes up a lot less space than a big bag full of bags. Or use reusable bags. 😁 No judgment! 😘
That pantry is about the same size as mine maybe mine is a bit wider. I had it organized to my liking and it WAS organized with like items on the shelves. Breakfast on top below the very top shelf that I put those items used at certain times and then either canned goods and pasta dinner type meals and then last shelf the snacks and I have wire baskets on each side walls for cererals, foil, plastic wrap etc. And a wire organizer mounted to the door for small things such as seasonings and such. But one day my middle son was bored and came through and reorganized it and moved ALL my breakfast and canned goods that were originally longer shelf life in the back and just mixed everything up!!!!!!! I was SO furious when I got home! I still have not taken the time to fix but I will.
When I have a bunch of boxes (cake mixes, etc) I lay them face down and stack up so I can read the label on all of them easily. I can also slide the whole stack over if I have something behind them.
A quick tip for the dreaded bag of bags is to roll each grocery sack up around your fingers when you empty them and stuff them into an empty Kleenex box. I can fit over 50 bags in a Boutique sized box.
Nicely done. I think the grab 'n' go snack bin would work better sitting directly on the shelf so it can be more safely pulled out and pushed back in like a drawer and reached into without having to pull it out very far. With it on top of one of the metal risers and up against the shelf above, it will have to pulled out quite a ways and tipped to be able to access the contents, which will also increase the likelihood of it being accidentally pulled down or dropped.
I’m with Celeste, I would have removed the shelves in the back and added new ones along one side of the pantry. They wouldn’t be as deep, but you could access everything much easier and might even have more shelve space in total. Maybe a slightly bigger project than just reorganizing, but I don’t think you need to be a carpenter to do it. 💪🏻😎
I did something similar to this. I had a deep coat closet near my kitchen that I converted to a pantry. Deep shelves in the back and narrow shelves along the sides. The setup worked very well!
This video is so funny! I have the chalk labels to put on things: erasable for things that might change and non-erasable for things that usually don't. Super easy and cheap.
I had a pantry like that, but it was side ways. Best part was that the pantry was deep enough that I coudl put a shelf on the left so I doubled my space. In our new place we have lots of storage, but no real pantry. I'm thinking we will get a big but narrow shelf an put it at the side of the fridge, as it is at the edge of the kitchen. We haven't actually been to our new place (yay cross-country move and social distancing) but our property manager shave video walkthroughs of the place. SO at the side of the fridge, there is enough space for soem trashcans, which we will probably use the space for a shelf for a small pantry. We have a closet nearby that has a small space (think like broom closet) that we will likely put in a shelf. If for nothing else, it can hold bedding/towels as there's nto much room in the bathroom for extra bins for towels.
You sister drinking the Diet Dr. Pepper while you are working hard reminded me of my sisters. I am poking fun!!! Its good to let of steam & you girlie girls are doing it!!! I love watching your channel!
I have to organize things in order of expiration date of course with like things together. Otherwise, you'll have things that expire if you have too much. Also, I can't add, flour or the like, into a canister if it's not empty and washed (unless you are adding more with the same expiration date). Once again...oldest on top/front. Can you tell I'm picky with dates? 😆 🤣 Nice job!
😂 frugal fit sister 🥰 made me laugh. Loved this! Great work 🥳 i would consider adding another extra handing black shelves & definitely hanging the ladder.
Great tip for deep pantry is always to have a dry eraser board hanging up on the inside so you can write down what on each shelf behind stuff so you don't forget what there :).
@@FrugalFitMom also for the cans there's a great organizer on Amazon that I believe holds up to 30 cans. slide out one after another when you take one it really saves on space and great for dealing with deep pantry.
Okay... so I have the exact same pantry! I feel her pain! Mine was an old water heater closet... so the shelf starts 2 ft up... so I need a step stool to even grt in...lol
This pantry looks great but, as a short person, I have two suggestions: 1. Put the heavy items on the top shelf, behind the canisters, in bins and place them on the floor (for safety). 2. Put the smaller items on the top shelf in another bin and place this bin and the extra condiments bin on the top shelf behind the canisters. These 2 changes will alleviate those small items on the top shelf getting ‘lost’ and causing unnecessary multiple buying.
I never stockpile grocery bags. They are the perfect size to line wastebaskets. I put 4 or 5 bags in the empty wastebasket, then another bag for the trash. When you are emptying the wastebasket, there is a new bag waiting.

Yes! And the door space could easily be for your sister's kiddos' grab and go snacks. Fewer humans all the way in the pantry at one time.
Inside my pantry door is the recycling bag
