Hi Christine, you’re getting there!! As an Organizer, follow these rules. 1) Every item needs a home so zone your areas once sorted and label on the shelf. This will create boundaries. 2) always store like with like so you’re correct with pasta together, grains, baking etc. 3) In/out rule - only purchase what’s needed as things run out. 4) Label everything! This helps items that get decanted be put in the right place ex remove the stickers from Walmart containers and label with Granola Bars, Energy Bars, protein bars etc. it will help greatly with maintenance 😊
I just cleaned my pantry and put stuff that didn’t need to be in there down stairs as well! I normally organize the food once a month or every other month depending when I go to walmart for my large grocery haul!
Put "like" things together. Whether that is all on the same shelf or make "sections" is up to you. Put your beans and rice by each other, all your baking supplies together. Extra pots, salad spinner together, all your appliances together, etc. 😉 You could label your containers. Clutterbug has some great ideas. 😍
I put together a use first box each pantry clean out. Each day I cook after that, I aim to use one of the use first things. It helps. It is also my favorite thing to clean out while zone cleaning.
You are so great!!!! Here are a few tips... stickers off containers, or flip to not see, or make a label out of paper to hide old label. Put all like things together- all appliances, pots, pan, mixers all on floor and the shelf above that. All grains and bean together ect. All things baking together(mixes, flours, chocolate chips). Clear containers are always best for storage when buying so you can see what is in them. ♡ Clear storage shoe boxes work amazing with lids for stacking or without lids for bigger thing. And the are only 1$. GREAT tips in organizing, remember all like things together!♡ Another thought...You could use left side of panty for food and panty. And right side for appliances and pans?!
You crack me up! I don't have a pantry and only a couple cupboards so I have a made shift pantry in my basement. Works pretty good. My best suggestion is to try and keep like items together. It help make sense.
My pantry is organized by shelf. Top shelf is appliances (although one instant pot, my coffee maker, and kitchen aid are out all the time). Next one down is baking stuff like flours, chocolate chips, sugars, etc. Next one is cooking stuff like rice, beans, canned tomatoes, jar sauces, etc. Next one is stuff for the kiddo and husband like breakfast cereals, bars, snacks, and easy lunches. The bottom shelf is mostly random storage containers, travel mugs, mixing bowls, and canning jars. Bulk rice, vinegar, baking soda, etc go on the floor. Having a theme for each shelf keeps it organized and helps my kiddo know where to put groceries away.
I can’t believe you are getting rid of your kitchen aid mixer! 😳 Say what what! I couldn’t live without mine, and I used to use it for a small baking business I had, where I sold my baked goods at our local farmers market! you might want it later on in life when you don’t have everyone living at home. But I know you really like your Bosch, so I guess two is not needed. You sound the same as me when it comes to organizing, it’s such a painful process for me. Luckily I have a daughter in law who loves to come over and organize! You are doing a great job! 😃
Thanks for being real about not being great at organizing and getting overwhelmed and not knowing where to start! It's a real struggle for me. Not to mention the bins are expensive!
I did my daughters pantry when I lived w her family for a few months as she had her third baby. The wire shelves you can get that fit on the door are good for lightweight items such as tea boxes or paper things. Also they have shelves that slide onto the wooden shelf and can hold loose bags and things. This is good to use up the negative space leftover above short cans or boxes.
As a general rule, I put heavy things down low and bulky, lightweight things on the top biggest shelf. Like oversized cereal boxes all up top and boxes of cans on the floor.
She has all her large appliances on the second to bottom shelf. That works well. Bc you can really stack boxes of cans on the floor and access them from the open end.
Best piece of advice I have for organizing a pantry is “like with like” and not just rice with rice but all grain together; all breakfast stuff together; all canned items; put your tools together on one shelf; snacks; etc. I saw you put two big bins of bars on one shelf and then the little bin of bars on a different shelf. Also take the labels off the bins because it makes it look messier than it is, you don’t need fancy labels though. I find myself using bins for different items depending on what I’ve stocked up on, kinda like what you did with the bars.
You have great space. You have to make sections for different categories of items. There is no need to put some food items in another storage place you mentioned. You can keep the extra items in the same pantry. Like the 2 little boxes of jello. Big bulky items yes in your basement storage. And if you label your pantry shelves it will be obvious to everyone where the items are kept.
Christine i almost never comment but you are driving me crazy! I want to climb into your video and take over! Lol!!! Group your baking supplies together, your bins together and put all your appliances together. You are killing me girl.
I think I need to drive to Idaho with matching/coordinating bins and my label maker! lol I so badly wanted to jump through the screen and help! My advice...take EVERYTHING out, group like items together, then put back. One shelf for appliances/pots/etc. Then all baking together, then all canned together, rice/potatoes, together etc. For the protein bars/granola bars...stand them up in the baskets like a filing cabinet so you can easily see them all and not have to dig through the basket. :) Thanks for sharing this with us.
Loved this one Christine! It feels like just yesterday you did your last pantry clean out! Maybe on the first shelf off the floor you could put all the food on one side? You could even move the breakfast where the beans are, the beans right next to the rice, and then scooch all the appliances and containers to the left! Just an outside perspective but of course you do you girl 😉
Thanks - reminded me to finish moving pastas from boxes to plastic containers. Off to do right now! The refrigerator we ordered September 13 is being delivered tomorrow - hooray! Now I know what I will be doing tomorrow 😁. Have a wonderful week.
You could take one of those clear plastic over the door shoe organizers and on the inside hang it up and put the bars/ other snack stuff in the pouches. You could do it by each individual kid's snack for the day or just use it for the bars and other stuff.
I use my kitchen aid for like 3 recipes; it lives in the garage. Also, make spaghetti squash like spaghetti. Roast the squash and top it with meat sauce.
When I do this, I move everything large, then I work from top to bottom. I check dates on everything as I group similar items together. Once everything is out, I wash the shelves top to bottom. Then take my groups, light stuff goes on the top, heavy stuff like cans or jars go on the bottom. stuff I use the most or need to use like fresh produce or things that expire soon go to the front where it will be the first thing that I see. That is just me and what I do may not work for you but I hope it helps someone.
I just wanted to say thank you for doing the spaghetti squash whole in the intant pot in your other video! It's so much better than cutting it into multiple circles it changed my life!!! Edited for grammar although I still have a run on sentence. Apologies 😶
You are hilarious!! Love your videos! My mantra on organizing? "Like with like" I am still not there, but gradually getting my reserves in shape. So yes - bars in a general area, pastas in a general area, baking items (flours all in one area, baking powder/soda, sweeteners etc. nearby, etc. ) Like with like works in the kitchen and in workshops, bedrooms, laundry rooms. Life gets simpler! Gradually...
Looks like mine did yesterday. I took everything out put it all back now I know what's in there and put up a couple of note to say what's in there looks a little better
Collect empty shoe boxes, cover them with contact paper and label. It's a cheap and tidy way to store small boxes, odd shape packages, baggies, bars etc. Another inexpensive idea is a clear plastic hanging shoe holder. Great for snack bars, gravy mixed, seasonings, anything smaller than a shoe!
We've all been reorganizing our kitchens! I am making room in my office for all the baking and canning supplies I bought this year. I put my rice and pasta and beans close together. Keep all those small appliances on the floor and first bottom shelf. Don't mix food and appliances. Nice to know we all don't live in perfect houses.
Oh how I would love to have that big pantry AND your wonderful storage room plus freezer downstairs, the extra fridge/freezer in the garage!!!! Of course, I'm not feeding six, just 2.5 (my YA daughter gets her lunches packed here with dinner leftovers, but doesn't live with us any longer), but after the crazy Covid hoarding and who-knows-factor, I'd sure love to be able to stock up! I'm a big fan of using large plastic baskets to corral like-kind things, and slap a Dollar Tree label on the outside so it at least seems visually organized.
I have one large tall ‘pantry cabinet’ someday I hope to have an actual pantry storage area not just a cabinet 😆 love watching these, gives me great ideas thanks!
Ohhhhh....me too!!! I DREEEEAAAMMM of an actual closet pantry!! Yes-the cabinet is so deep and there’s not much room at the front so everything is constantly getting shuffled around and, AND, I have to keep a flashlight in there so that I can see what’s in the back! Crawling down on the floor to find and get to what’s on the bottom shelf? Anyone? 🙋♀️🤦♀️
@@kae7131 ugh the floor crawl kills me,I'm getting to old for that!😬😂 my grown daughter loves to organize and she organized the cabinets for me and now i dont know where anything is.🤔😂
I feel like you need to take advantage of the height of the shelves by using taller storage containers or add in an additional shelf so there is less wasted vertical space. You might also benefit from painting the inside of your pantry white. It makes it brighter and you can see all that you have better. I also break up my pantry into zones and then tidy the zones throughout the week as you use items from the pantry. If I have some items that have been in there a while and need to be used up I put them in a specific location in the pantry so that I remember to use them up. It's all about inventory management. You have so much more to manage than I do so maybe my suggestions won't work for you.
Just some suggestions 😁 Id place the biggest and heaviest appliances on the floor. Also any big food bags or boxes. Id place all other appliances on the bottom shelf.(keeping similar things together makes it easier to find) Id place all snacks and treats on the shelf second from the bottom. Makes it easy to view and access for your kids. On the very top shelf I'd place anything that is RARELY used. Use the other middle shelves for everything else. Ie rice, beans, pasta, oils, spices, breakfast items. Place most used items in the center of shelves and lesser used item on the sides. It is absolutely not a waste of space to line your beans like that. Always best to have things as visible as possible. That way you're always aware of what you have and how much you have of them. Also Labels are KEY, not just for display but also because it lets everyone in the family where things go. This makes it more likely that everyone will put things back in the same place and ultimately make your organization last longer.
Funny, I was just going through my pantry yesterday, and tossed a few things that had been in there for years. I used to encourage my kids to try new stuff, buying things when they expressed an interest. Sometimes that was a great success, but I found a few that hadn't been. (The kids both started their freshmen year of college this fall and I'm cleaning things that haven't been touched in years because I'm distracting myself from the emptiness of the house.)
Organize any way that makes sense to you. I have a 5x5 IKEA Kallax in my kitchen (because I do not have a pantry) and each cube has either drawers or a bin. Each bin is labeled: baking stuff, canned veggies, pasta, (my fave is "rice, rice baby" 😂), etc. This works for me because I have to put things in the correct bin, and that helps me keep it organized. I also have a 4x2 Kallax that stores my crockpots, etc., I just need to get the doors for each cube. Definitely worth the investment!! (I used gift cards!!)
Watch the home edit!! You don't need the fancy containers they show but they give you a solid base as where to start and how to make everything flow better.
I love your big pantry! But I have to confess that I have a small refrigerator just for alternative flours so they last longer. You made a lot of good progress in this video. It would reduce your visual clutter if you'd either remove the labels from those new bins or just turn the labels to the back wall. Looking forward to part two. And you don't have a squash problem...you are just well stocked!
Hysterical! I spy the SALAD SPINNER! 💃 Thanks to you and Jen , I had to have one. My adult kids laugh at how excited I am over it (daughter bought it for me). “We know, Mom, we know. The crispiest lettuce we’ll ever have”. 😂😂 Gotta go. Gotta organize my pantries. 🏃🏻♀️
Plastic shoe boxes with lids work REALLY well for the snack bars & other snacks. Lids make it easy to stack & each shoe box can have a different type of bar in it. If you get clear ones you can see which type is in each shoe box.
As an OCD sufferer, I really want you to put ALL of the appliances together, and all of the pots/pans together...
Yes!!!!! And why is the rice noodles not with the rice. 🤦🏻♀️

Love love 💗 love this video! Off to organize and declutter my pantry! Thanks!
I like to categorize by product... all kitchen supplies on one shelf, snacks all together, condiments, dry goods/ pasta/rice/beans, cans, etc etc!
GREAT tips in organizing, remember all like things together!♡
Another thought...You could use left side of panty for food and panty. And right side for appliances and pans?!
You crack me up! I don't have a pantry and only a couple cupboards so I have a made shift pantry in my basement. Works pretty good. My best suggestion is to try and keep like items together. It help make sense.
You should look into shelf dividers! I feel like they would really help with this situation
That's an awesome pantry! It's not that bad, looks very normal. Definitely would be fun to have a pantry that big, to reorganize it. Great project!
I’m watching this and trying to get motivation for my own pantry that needs organized. We have so many snacks and keep buying more 😬
I can’t believe you are getting rid of your kitchen aid mixer! 😃
I found a broom/mop hanger helpful. Gets them up on the wall out of the way.
I love putting stuff on the wall. You could hang your broom on a wall hook or nail.
Thumbs up for the Aggie sweatshirt!! You're awesome, Christine. I appreciate all I learn from you!
This video is so encouraging for people struggling with organizing, you have no idea. ♥️♥️♥️
Christine i almost never comment but you are driving me crazy! I want to climb into your video and take over! Lol!!! Group your baking supplies together, your bins together and put all your appliances together. You are killing me girl.
How about adding a wall mount to hold your broom, mop, and dustpan. Off the floor. 😊
I absolutely love your comic inserts in your videos. Your channel is my favorite.
I put opened leftover odd ingredients in canning jars with pertinent info from the label on the lid but under the lid.
I think you did a great job. You always do great with all your videos and the finished product and you keep it real
Lazy Susan works great for different oils odds and ends.
I had to step away because children but I have to say it’s so awesome seeing an American family pantry without all that awful junk “food”. 💪🏻
I just did my pantry. I hate things on the floor. It sure takes work. Love u vlogs
"Like with like"
I am still not there, but gradually getting my reserves in shape. So yes - bars in a general area, pastas in a general area, baking items (flours all in one area, baking powder/soda, sweeteners etc. nearby, etc. ) Like with like works in the kitchen and in workshops, bedrooms, laundry rooms.
Life gets simpler! Gradually...
Love all these sponsors you're getting recently!! So glad to see :D
I always love to see the progress in organizing.
I love organization.. It is a great stress reliever❤ it's just getting the rest of the family on board. Makes life more fun 🤣
Kitchen looks great and the lights is perfect
Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets stuck after making some good progress.
I think all you’re videos are worth watching.
I have the same and it makes me bananas..its tall and deep and I cant keep it organized no matter what I try and I can reach anything .😬😬😬
Anyone? 🙋♀️🤦♀️
I guess I’m pretty lucky, ours has the nice pull out shelves so I can keep it somewhat organized but I would still love more space!
@@aldolly8393 I've been checking into having my son install the pull out shelf things in mine!
@@kae7131 ugh the floor crawl kills me,I'm getting to old for that!😬😂 my grown daughter loves to organize and she organized the cabinets for me and now i dont know where anything is.🤔😂
I do appliances on bottom and separate mine to sides, breakfast, sauces, spices that helps me.
More painting?!?!?! Make it STOP!!!!
I’m a zone person too. One area is all breakfast. Another all baking stuff. Ect.
@@FrugalFitMom lol sorry she said the P word . Oxo makes clear tall containers
Just some suggestions 😁
Id place the biggest and heaviest appliances on the floor. Also any big food bags or boxes.
Id place all other appliances on the bottom shelf.(keeping similar things together makes it easier to find)
Id place all snacks and treats on the shelf second from the bottom.
Open morsel bags inside a large baggie. Check! Good job!!!
We put the large oils and vinegars on the floor, too.
Oh, you don’t have a lot of cases of tomato sauce and paste and beans... hmmm are they in the basement?
Organize any way that makes sense to you. I have a 5x5 IKEA Kallax in my kitchen (because I do not have a pantry) and each cube has either drawers or a bin. Each bin is labeled: baking stuff, canned veggies, pasta, (my fave is "rice, rice baby" 😂), etc. This works for me because I have to put things in the correct bin, and that helps me keep it organized. I also have a 4x2 Kallax that stores my crockpots, etc., I just need to get the doors for each cube. Definitely worth the investment!! (I used gift cards!!)
sell the kitchenaid! It's a klunker and your Bosch is a BOSS!
I just adore your personality...an yes you did a good job so far!
Christine, you're one of my favorite people on UA-cam. I love you and you deserve all the things and thumbs ups lol. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Hitting the like button before Christine started talking! - me every video :)
You did good on the first part of your pantry organization. Love your TX A&M shirt!
Gotta go. Gotta organize my pantries. 🏃🏻♀️
Your organization is looking very good, thanks for the motivation! Can't wait for part#2.
Plastic shoe boxes with lids work REALLY well for the snack bars & other snacks. Lids make it easy to stack & each shoe box can have a different type of bar in it. If you get clear ones you can see which type is in each shoe box.
