"this will never be a Pinterest worthy pantry, I use it too much" the internet needs more of that!
U
Amen!!
Pro tip when you go to paint this pantry. Before you touch anything: take.pictures.of.every.single.shelf. Take things out by shelf and try to keep them together. When paint is dry, use your pictures for reference and put things back from whence they came.
Looks great!! Good job!!
I love how you said that you couldn’t mix the chocolate chips but you mixed the granola like a monster 🤣
I came here to say that too lol
My thoughts exactly! 🤣🤣🤣
Oh... I'm like Christine... cannot mix the baking chips. I mean if the recipe calls for it, then yes, do it... but those have to stay separate...
Watching you and Jen fixing your pantries gives me motivation to do mine. Then I walk into my pantry and think "nahhhh, not today". 😜
Me too. But not until the new year
Same
Omg I have to tell you the patience you have to listen to these people commenting about your pantry lol... I love you and your house is beautiful don’t listen to the people that don’t have anything nice to say lol...
If you can’t return the cracked one, save it for small packets or laundry or dishwasher pods or such. Thanks for being a practical you tuber, this is achievable, lining Oreos up in a glass container so they look pretty is t for me
If I did that I would just eat all the Oreos 🤣🤣🤣
I would just put a large baggie inside and still use it.
Use resin to fix the cracks would be my suggestion
“This is why we can’t have nice things” said every mom ever 🤣
for the stackable issue: just stack one tall and one short on top of each other
@@aredheadisdead great 👍 ideal. :)
The short ones are square and the tall ones are rectangle so they don’t have the same “footprint”. :(
i would use those metal stackable bins on the floor for your potatoes/onions
That's a good idea!! Then you (Christine) doesn't have to return them!!
I agree! They're super cute!
Thought the same thing. Came here to suggest the same.
I loved them and not sure why she did not separate them for potatoes, onions or other vegetables.
When you decide to paint your shelves, take the time to adjust the shelving heights to your liking. Looks to me like it won't be too complicated.
I very much appreciate your pragmatism. Function is often more important than form.
Your stacking issue demonstrates why I always take a bajillion measurements before going shopping. It's always my worst nightmare that I'm gonna go through all the hassle of buying something and bringing it home just to find out that it doesn't fit where I want it!
Instead of repainting the shelves, you can use contact paper or shelf liner if you don't want anything sticky. Dollar Tree has some. I have put shelf liner in my pantry and fridge. It is easier to wipe and can be replaced if it gets really dirty.
I use to avoid the idea of taking from a container to put in a different one. But I noticed once I put my 7 yr olds cereal in a clear container with a flip lid he finally started eating it. I discovered moving things from packages to clear containers and they stopped lingering in the house because it sort of reminded him that we had it. No more stale cereal that no one eats.
I agree about the cereal. I put it in Tupperware cereal storers and my kids made their own breakfast so I could get my workout done. They are now adults and the containers are still going strong. The decanting takes time but worth it!
Keep the lid of the broken one as the lids on those are fragile and handy to have spare
Take it easy.. If people are seriously hounding you on UA-cam/ the internet/ Social media over paint chips, or how you choose to keep anything in your life or home I would first question their mentality, and then kindly tell them to shove it! I think you are just a wonderful person. You are such an inspiration. And I absolutely love watching during my spare time.
It looks awesome!! Dave and you are so handy so consider pulling out the shelf above the baking shelf and add one inch filler strip to the supports (or move the supports up) to raise it. You would have to move the center bracket too but it would allow you to stack the tall containers. If you do it before painting it wouldn’t be noticeable. Also you can always use the cracked one for sealed items like snack bars, mini candy bars!!
For labels I just buy clear mailing labels and print them with my home printer. They look almost as good as the fancy one and can be done at home wthout fancy equipment.
My rule of thumb: if it’s in a bag and I use it often put it in a container (flour, sugar, etc). If it’s in a non resealable container and I don’t use it often but it in a container (oats, almonds, etc)
Every time I find containers I just love they discontinue them lol. Just use what you have.
Pantry looks amazing! I feel the same way about putting items that are already in a container into another container except for my sugar and flour because I like to keep those in air tight containers or resealable containers instead of the containers that they already came in. I feel like no ones pantry needs to be “Pinterest worthy”; it just needs to be fictional for you and your family. Much love to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree with you about removing things from one container to put them in another container. But, I don't have the big beautiful pantry space that you have! Love what you have done!!!
I'm kind of with her except for certain things will keep longer/better in the second container. Once I started decanting things like cereal and granola into containers, they almost never got stale. I'd say if pretty/no visual clutter doesn't matter to you, decant the things that aren't already in resealable packaging and leave the rest in their original packaging.
Also, if pests tend to come around where you live, decanting can prevent critters from getting into your food. Because the containers are more sturdy than the disposable packaging most items come in, they have a harder time smelling your food and getting in to eat it.
I used to feel the same way about the moving food from one container into another container..... the light bulb moment was understanding that consistency in storage helps keep thing organized... like if you have 4 different kind of dinner plates... your stuff will always look messy even if it’s “organized” it’s soothing to the eye to see neat stacks of the same thing
For the specialty items or items that dont "deserve" a fancy container, use mason jars. We use painters tape to label and put expiration dates on containers that way when we are done we just peel it off.
I love to use Adams Peanut Butter jars. The lid is one piece, they have wide mouths, and the sides are so much easier to scrape! And we eat a ton of natural peanut butter so we have a plethora of jars. 😁
I’m with you on repackaging things except for bulk loose items like baking. I like leaving a cheap scoop in each container since I’m efficient🤣 Your pantry looks great. Ignore the haters lol. Oooh and btw a dry erase marker or sharpie on packing tape works when you need to label plastic quick and efficiently lol.
I’m a lifelong Canadian farm girl who up until about 20 yrs ago was a 4 hr drive from the nearest Walmart , then a small city 2 hrs away grew enough to get a WM so now it’s only a 2 hr drive . I always get a kick outa how available everything is when we travel around the US during the winter . Rural is a VERY , VERY relative term I must say . I am grateful for the ease of Amazon now however as we are only 3 miles from a hamlet that has about 15 residents - but it has a church and a post office so Subscribe & Save is a god - send !
I love it... Most people don't stock up or cook enough to show Pantry's for cool or prettiness, not reality of large food storage and usage...
The only items I keep in these clear types of containers are everyday use items like (Oatmeal) or bulk items I need in easy-to-handle containers (flour, grains) and it’s easy to tell what is in it without a label. I use bins to group packages because I *need* to see expiration dates. Expiration dates help me with meal planning, too. My bins are labeled by the group they hold. I decided to stay with bins after a friend said she went to make pancakes and had no idea how old her mix was.
Thanks Pretty, that's some good info and ideas!
I can’t organize that way because I’m obsessed/paranoid about expiration dates. I’m afraid I won’t use it up in time or keep things too lot and forget.
Almond flour needs to be refrigerated as it can go rancid. Been there done that :)
Woah, that pantry is beautiful to me! It’s so full!! (In a good way) I can’t wait until I have a home and family to grow my pantry like this!
I live in an apartment so kitchen cabinet space can be tight. You inspired me to put a tall shelving unit in my laundry area to store the stuff I don't use often, crockpot, stockpot, etc. Then I got some baskets and organized my groceries in the cabinets as well as the fridge. I actually have 3 empty cabinets now! Thank you so much for all of the ideas and talking through everything. Such a great inspiration!
Agree with you about taking something out of one container to put in another. Personally, I like the see through containers.
Everyone is doing pantries right now - I love it! I realized the other day I could/should raise one of my shelves and now every time I open the cupboard I’m super happy 🤩🤩🤩
i have lived in my house 7 years and only did this last week. LIFE CHANGING!
Groupings will really make life easier! If you get the whole family on board
I do feel like putting 1 container to another is strange feeling! You are so great with wonderful ideas for the real world!
YES! I'm so glad to hear someone else say that it doesn't make sense to take one thing out of a container into another container! I always felt like am I the only one that just wants things to fit and function? But of course I secretly want everything to be pretty too... without the money spent or effort...
For me it's not about being pretty but utilitarian and preserving. It's easier to see how much you actually have and you don't have alot of empty boxes. I'll cut the instructions of a mix (like Bisquick) and put them in the side of the container. Your family goes through the food more quickly and I have a small family so it takes awhile. Always do you. Everyone is different. Great job!
I cut the nutrition label and stash in the (say) gallon baggie or whatever and instructions. Like how Christine cut the food name label.
People actually think you should throw out and start over? I can't afford that lifestyle. Lol
Trust me, I know people who do just that fridge included
@@robertwalton1054 "very" eco friendly...and stupid :p
@@E.S.K. I know, I have friends that strictly believe in dates and constantly throw away their leftovers so I get them before they toss them in the garbage
Anyone that said you should throw out everything and start over doesn't understand you are FRUGALFITMOM! I think the pantry came out good! As long as it is organized to the way you can use it that's all that matters!
Cass over on the Clutterbug channel has an excellent video on the 4 different types of organizers and how to figure out which one you are. Once you figure it out, organizing and keeping things organized is so much easier. I highly recommend it as no one organization system fits all!
Why I like your channel? Many reasons but the main one is that you are a down to earth mom
I am 24 and I really wish I had a mom like you. You're awesome!
I’m in the process of getting my kitchen under control. I have never liked my pantry space, but my husband is helping me get it just the way I want it. I bought containers with black labels and white chalk paint. It’s so fun to get it all organized and functional!
It looks AWESOME Christine!!!
Happy Birthday Christina!!! I hope that you had a Wonderful Day!!
I love an organized pantry! It turned out great!
I love the way you organized your pantry. Thank you for showing us what your ideas were
I just wanted to say thanks for your videos, I started watching a bit over a month ago and you inspired me in so many ways. I started paying off my debt and living very frugally again (knew how, but fell off the wagon) You have such an upbeat personality and so many need the information you post. Thanks again!
I'm so glad!
I’m in a tiny kitchen rental house but I love it! It’s been a crazy sad year and you are so happy it’s contagious! Thanks for being awesome! ❤️ and I LOVE the kitchen redo!
Love how your pantry is organized! The growings will
I would definitely call that a successful organizational project. Your pantry looks great!
Im a stickler about expiration dates. I'd need to put that on the label too.
Pro tip! If you’re putting things in plastic or glass containers you can use a dry erase marker to write the date on the bottom or the back then you can erase and put a new date when you refill it. 🤓
@@imthegreenfairy dry erase can rub off easily by mistake. Use a wet erase marker. That way it won’t come off till you want it to.
@@imthegreenfairy Genius!
Looks wonderful!! Congrats! Such a great accomplishment!
Looks BEAUTIFUL Christine! It always feels so nice to have not only an organized space, but a functional one! Also thank you for speaking up about people being so rude... some people are just control freaks lol they can’t help themselves I guess! Much love looking forward to the next video!💕
That looks sooo functional! I would have grouped things that way also. And thank GOODNESS you don't try to be a pinterest perfectionist! Real people need real heroes like you!
I'm still curious about your spice collection. This is a huge problem area for me. I don't have a lot of really large spices just tons of small ones and in a drawer.
Thanks for this comment! I hope she does a spice organization vid. I sometimes buy spices from the bulk section at Winco so I can buy very small amounts of things I rarely use. So now I have little plastic bags of mystery spices in my cabinet ! 😂
I bought an AllSpice wood spice rack from Amazon. It was pricy but perfect for us. It's just a square box with spice jars and labels on the lid. Stores a large amount of jars in a small space. Also, no dusty jars :)
@@lilybee_ how many spices does it hold? Do you need to take spices out of original jars to make them fit?
Oh please please please do something with spice organization mine are trying to take over my kitchen. 😬
I moved mine to a full cabinet shelf recently. It’s wide so I can spread everything out and see it all at once instead of digging for something 4 bottles deep.
Your pantry looks fabulous! I'm sure you will enjoy having it organized in a way that makes sense to you.
So happy to see all the food items and appliances are separated, I was kinda nervous for a while. Congratulations neat and organized makes everyone happier.
Happy Birthday, Christine!
Hey girl!! Loved your video!! You have to keep those beautiful wooden baskets!! You can put your potatoes/onions in them!! Put them under your charging station!!! 💕💖
You organized the pantry for you. That's the most important point. Good job.
Oh my goodness, condensing is my life❣I always get to a point when I get tired of seeing all of the containers and packages. What an amazing sense of satisfaction😍
I am organising my fridge tomorrow. Buying some clear acrylic organisers and sort everything out
It LOOKS GREAT Christine.
You're contagious, I've been reorganizing my whole house and moving around the furniture and whatnot since watching all of your organizing and home remodel videos. :)
Looks great
I love organizing things and putting things in containers
Tupperware is my life
My BFF has a cricut and did all my kitchen labels too. It did make me feel so organized and helps my family figure out where the groceries go
You could use the cracked container just as a regular container...Put some of the pre-wrapped snacks in there… Just a suggestion
my mom has been using Your Super ever since she became cancer-free earlier this year and she loves their products, so i'll definitely be passing this onto her. thank you.
Good job! It makes you happy-bravo!!💜
It looks BEAUTIFUL! Great job Christine.
It needs to make sense to only you. Looks great.
Love the teal bin
Great job! It looks a lot more organized.
Looks great! I did a pantry reorganize 6 months ago. Before I do my weekly grocery, I run through the pantry (and refrigerator/freezer) quickly cleaning up, cleaning out and consolidating. A little each week keeps all in check! Usually.... good luck to you!
Everything looks great! You did an awesome job and as long as it works for you that's all that matters!
I love how real you are! Thanks for being awesome! 😁🥰😎
Looks great! Pantry organizing is a constant battle for me as well. Love your videos!
Of I had a free day at the store, my go to is the baking aisle and spice aisle!
This is the pantry video I've been looking for, finally a realistic functional space!
You did great 👍
your hair looks the best this way!!
It looks great and functional! I agree with you about the "putting things from a container into a container". The upside is that you can easily see where things are and how much you have on hand.
Exactly! Functional for you! We all have our own way of doing things and foods we cook with so what works for you is all that matters. Its your house!
You did good. Really. It makes sense and it’s realistic. I love it!
This came out fantastic Christine! Looks great!
Good job. You did a wonderful job organizing everything.
I literally was looking at pantry organization on pinterest this morning 3 hours later this video uploads! Just in time ❤
I have those clear containers with the white lids and I love them
We use old jam jars/ coffee jars etc for our chocolate chips! They're small enough to hold them and free whilst being sustainable! Whilst not as pretty, it works pretty well
What you need is Canadian Tire... they have so much good storage stuff and they’re always having sales.
Love those containers. Trying to get more myself.
I look forward to your video uploads on a daily. Love watching you and your voice is calming to me
Nice! I’ve been waiting for this one.
I just started watching. Love all the videos! I am redoing my pantry and I have gotten so many tips❤️
Your video was very helpful! It actually inspired me to re organize my shelves 😊
I'm with you girl....no matter what, somebody breaks something. I've threatened to just keep reducing until there is one dish, one glass....:)
Yay for a new video!!!! I love your content.
Looks fantabulous!!!
Great video! Love seeing a realistic pantry!
I think it looks amazing!
Thanks so much. I went to my local Ross and found a ton of the oxo containers. Now to do my pantry organization.
