I saw them all and frankly, they are all gorgeous! How does one pick a winner???!
Donate to a small underfunded museum!
omg your kitty is absolutely adorable and stunning.....is your kitten a Bengal or a different breed? and oh yeah nice restoration
@@mmmjd-usa I was thinking the same thing!
I’m a retired Jeweller and know why it has lasted so long. It was built to protect expensive jewelry and avoid entry due to weak construction. Like getting insurance against theft. The original glass was so thick to avoid easy breakage by thieves. The hooks I believe, were to hang chains and bracelets, so that they wouldn’t tangle. The worst waste of a jeweller’s time is trying to free-up a mass of tangled chain! I know! In my opinion, you saved an originally super well-built cabinet.
Thanks for the info ;-) glad you enjoyed
Thank you for the history on design based on your experience - well appreciated. ❤
Вы молодец

That weird broken triple joint repair was pure genius!
Such seemingly "back-from-the-dead" restorations have an uncanny hope-inducing quality to them.
Beautifully stated
ONLY 5 hours of footage? - 99% of the planet would have hit that thing with a tub of filler and a "distressed paint treatment" - you truly are a top 1% kind of guy.
Thank you 🙏
That cabinet said: "I may be old and falling apart, but you sure as heck ain't pulling me apart!" LOL
Sounds about right 😂😂😂
It came with a cat. Better than a rat.
Hahaha!@@gregpendrey6711
It’s funny how the wood itself was crumbling but the joints were having none of it
No one can accuse you of not starting with trash. I know someone who keeps a shell collection in a piece like that. I was unreasonably happy to spot the little brass hammer, lol.
Any serious vintage arms collector would be happy to display his old arms specimens! Beautiful work.
Yeah, it looks perfect for use as an antique and trophy display case. Maybe vintage books too.
A small business jeweler may love to have it. Mom and pop businesses need to be remembered. I learned so much from you on this piece. I can’t believe it’s the same piece from that old piece you showed us. Amazing work, be proud.
Mando, I’ll bet you have hundreds of admirers! Love that cat. I love his curiosity. Jay, you are “one man and his cat”.
Another fabulous restoration. Actually a miracle transformation.
Thank you and yes he does 💛🐾
@@Flippingdrawers I ordered the T-shirt. In white. I just had to have it. I hope Frank Sinatra, my Siamese rescue cat, isn’t too jealous. 😂.
@@Roses-lilac ha ha thanks 🤩
Such furniture abuse should never be tolerated. Thank you for salvaging this piece and restoring it to its former glory.
You might be surprised who might have a use for this. What a resurrection! I give you credit for tackling this. It is truly "back from the dead."
Thank you 🙏 have got some good suggestions as far as what to do with it
That jewelry display chest has one helluva story to tell!! What a history- burn marks, many repairs, many paint colors etc.
I love it when you make decisions about old pieces. I think it take courage and fortitude to do these pieces.
Thank you 🤩
I like the just sanded look of it. To me all the nicks, scratches and gouges. It shows character and how it’s been through a lot and still manage find itself into the hands of someone that is going to do his best for it.
Jay, I believe that any museum or library whose curator has an ounce of good taste and a passion for preserving the past would be thrilled to have this piece. You could even have a storyboard prepared documenting your part of the piece's current journey. Great work, as always. Now...off to peruse the Mando merch!
Such a great idea!!!!!!!!
Most museums have little shops, would be ideal for that. Also high end stores that appeal to the traditional quality market could use to display accessories - I’m thinking like the kind of shops in Leeds Victoria quarter which are all in our historic arcades surrounded by Victorian architecture. But I love the museum idea.
Your sense of humor makes your content even more enjoyable to watch! 😂😂 and Mando tearing around in the background is so cute.😊
People must have loved this cabinet very much to have repaired it so many times
perhaps someone special made it or it belonged to someone special
My Da, gone 20 years now, could "fix anything." He would have loved your videos, and envied your shop.
WOW! Never in a million year did I think this one could be pulled off! Beautiful Job!
I admire your tenacity in dealing with the corroded fastenings, dismantling the cabinet and repurposing the elaborate legs. Way to go, Jay.
Cheers! 🙂👍
You said that none of the screws came out without a fight, which made me laugh. But also made my mind see the screws wearing little boxing gloves 😂😂. I didn't think you could save this piece. However you did a remarkable job.
Thank you ☺️ glad you enjoyed
Did you try Coke?
I can't believe you resurrected that poor piece! That is amazing! Great work!
The Lazarus Project. Makes me want to write a story about it. About how the glass got smashed, how so many repairs had to be done on it. Of course with all that sanding it would make a brilliant sleep story!
It's beautiful. At first I thought, it's firewood. But as always you brought it back to life.
Barely 😂😂😂 thanks for watching 💛
@@Flippingdrawers I look forward to your videos!
I can’t help but think this would make a great topic for a sermon. “ Broken, burned and crispy”
lol!!
I can see this being used in someone's home to house curiosities that one wants to show but still have it protected. It is a beautiful piece and I can honestly seeing someone wanting to buy it from you.
I agree anyone with small items could display their collectables inside so they would be protected. If I wasn't so far definitly would like to acquire this little gem!
You're absolutely right I don't think it's that in a hour I think it was in a department store Were they sold jewelry It's absolutely gorgeous He does an awesome job and everything he does
Did the person you buy from tell you where it was I'm thinking like a store I have to tell you sometimes you need a good challenge to make you appreciate how good of our job do That was definitely a good challenge I love stripping furniture is so rewarding in relaxing But I don't do the hard stuff like you do because I don't have the tools and Mileage To do the hard stuff like you do Every piece in my house is antiques somewhere free and somewhere relatives You do amazing jobs I'm your furniture I love watching your videos cause it helps me learn and what chemicals to use and what not to use thanks for sharing❤❤❤😊
Most people would've figured the best way to fix the cabinet was to have a bonfire. You did quite good sir.
Cheers!! 😄
This Lady get the tune-up of her life… she’s back to life🥰🕺🏼
Thank you 🙏
Are. You. Kidding. Me?! Jay, you are a freaking magician! This flip gave me such anxiety! I honestly didn’t have much hope. But you turned it into a sweet little chest that someone will love to use! Awesome work as always!! 🙌
Well done, I can see it in one of those funky shops that sell hippie stuff. It would be a treat to see more of Mando. You performed a miracle there.
In an antique store to display jewelry.
Thank you 🤩
Or in my home displaying my treasures!
It’s hard to believe it is the same cabinet! I literally wasn’t expecting much when I saw the state of that cabinet but you brought it back from the dead! ❤❤❤❤❤
What a transformation! That was one destroyed carcass. Awesome job
Thank you 🤩
Loved the video. Your comment about the pieces you used for the legs made me laugh and not only gave me a great memory but also (watching all your videos), I finally understood what my Dad, who was a furniture designer, would always say about a random scrap of wood...."I might need that someday."
For every scrap piece of wood my husband says "A tree died for that! At least let me make something beautiful with it!"
In another life you’d have been a plastic surgeon…this rescue was unbelievable. You definitely hit the goal of taking an unfixable piece and bringing it back to life…it’s beautiful.
I know you posted this a month ago but if you haven’t done anything with it yet then I think it would be lovely in a gift shop for its original purpose…as a jewelry display.
As always, incredible work! Love that call stuff “thingy”. Makes me laugh every time. Mando is so cute!
I really admire your tenacity and the pride you take in your work. Not many people around like that anymore.
Impressive! Without even seeing the other entries, I’d say you win just on sheer determination and stamina alone!
Hey for being over 100…it literally showed us all how great the craftsmanship was. Things never got thrown away, we prepared it..now we trash everything. Love these challenges
You did a great job! The idea behind donating this to a charity thrift store is brilliant! They can display donated items in an elegant display cabinet, thereby helping them to keep on getting profit. Things like this are needed just like donations to help them run.
However, I would offer to install some locks for safety, and in the cabinet, to make a thin piece of wood, with maybe some thin felting, then black or navy velvet for display. The jewelry wont slide around on the wood and scratch it up. Just some thoughts.
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks 🙏
I love that you respond to your audience. It feels very personal and I appreciate your time to comment on our comments.
Thanks ☺️ I believe that’s the only way to do it
You really deserve a coffee after that transformation! A charity shop would probably appreciate the display cabinet for jewelery and such- what a good idea!
I agree.
Thank you. That’s the plan
love when you guys all drop a challenge video on a day when I need to get all the chores done. so; mayfield, general pick up and tidy. furniture flippa, vacuum.( this includes 2 cats and the dog. ) flipping drawers, mop. whoever is next, laundry. might take me all day, but..
it's all getting done with lovely interludes.
😂😂😂😂😂😂love it
Another incredible transformation! Mando adds so much entertainment too!
Thank you ☺️
As long as you can create art like this, the Victorian Era lives on...
What a labour of love! You definitely pulled it off. ❤️ Mr. Mando just knows how to grab the attention with his playful antics in the background. Good thing Hugo popped in for a cuddle to lift your spirits. Mando probably decided that this project was junk after he inspected it, and left you to your own devices. Where is the loyalty when the going gets tough ?😂😂😂
Which model is your Makita miter saw?
I love how well you brought this piece back from its grave.
Considering the condition and all the previous repair, I thought it must be more like 200 years old.
Love this! Your attention to detail is superb! Mondo is so funny to watch playing. So much energy! 😊❤️🇨🇦
this cabinet has been on a JOURNEY in it's lifetime jeez! so many different repairs
Thank You for posting today I needed something to distract me from all the destruction in Oklahoma last night . There were over 20 tornadoes in Oklahoma last night !!!! I didn't go to sleep until after 8 this morning because all the tornadoes hit after dark . Some people were already asleep and were woken by the roof being ripped off there homes by the tornado . That's why I don't sleep when there are tornadoes in the area I live they were all south and east of us . Great as always loved seeing Mando . Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma
We had some as well but they weren’t as bad as yours.
A piece of felt or velvet to line the main interior bottom would’ve been the chef’s kiss to this piece.
Yes, but not glued in, so, not Jay's job. The lucky recipient can add a bespoke velvet cloth.
Turned out really pretty. So glad you gave it new life. Can you just imagine the stories it could tell.☺️💖
You really are a miracle worker! That cabinet looked beyond the pale when you started and you resurrected it!! Well done!
Little Mando is very cute!!
Wow- just wow! From firewood to nice job
Glad you enjoyed ☺️
Amazing restoration. I doubt that their are many people who would have attempted this. You are truly a brave man.
Thank you 🙏
If you weren't under a time constraint I am sure you would have done it differently. It did turn out great all the same.
My Victorian display case isn't as bad so I am not going to strip it down completely. I have sliding glass doors which are sticky. I will do some research on how to free them up. Thanks for a great video.
I've been going through all the videos. They're all great. Jay, this one is the winner of "trash". The amount of work it needed, the level of 'trash' it was to start with, and your perseverance and creativity in getting it transformed earns you the winner status!
Wow, thanks! 🤩
It's amazing that you have the gift of turning, even the most wrecked piece of furniture into treasure. This is excellent...as is much of your work.
The survivor rate of these vintage cabinets is so small it's truly a great save tons of people would love this for display everything from jewelry to arms to ladies vintage hats gloves & purses the legs were fantastic addition.
Jay..I am dumbfounded that you managed to see life in this bad boy..but you did a miracle with this
Miracle? No that was hard work and excellent skills.
I kept thinking “trust the process “ 😂thanks for watching 💛
Is this what they call "quality craftsmanship"? I would trust no one else to bring this back to life. You truly are a miracle worker.
Thank you
Would a museum possibly want this to display antique jewelry? If not, a charity shop might like it or a jewelry collector. Awesome restoration on falling apart bits of wood and glass!😂❤😊
You're the first one from the videos of the challenge I watched by far who actually sticks to the challenge. And I liked watching the others but I loved watching yours.
That's beautiful! I'm glad you didn't give up. If I didn't live in a different country I would have taken a lot of the pieces that you have donated.
It looks great! Standing on those new legs, it deserves a place of honor on any counter or table top! You gave it new life, long after it was retired. Great plan to donate! 🙌🙌🙌🫶
Thanks so much!
Very interesting. And I could see someone using it in a home to display something of importance for themselves. Very nice for putting a set of mementos in, all organized for display. Perhaps a set of awards or medal for an athlete.
You needed the Samurai Warrior for this one! WOWser! Bravo! 👍👏🥰⚔
Can’t really believe you can put it back to life but you did it! Another great work, 👍 Yes the legs are a bit odd as they are in round shape, attached to a rectangular cabinet. But I guess that’s your style as you like to go contradictory like the two tones of colour in another project. It would be very kind of you to donate it to church or charity. ❤ God bless you !
Nice to see a restoration video that isn't made by a Mary Sue - the ones where everything just magically goes to plan and rusty screws just pop out. Great work, looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
Thank you 🤩
Your taking this poor thing apart was quite entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed 😂
As a carpenter and restorer of wooden furniture, I enjoyed your skills and practical explanations, and I am fully aware of the importance of your words in working with wood, and I enjoy your company.💚
Thank you very much!
Thanks!
Thank you beautiful person 🤩 that’s very kind of you
Love that there were several funky repairs and years of neglect after decades of service, only to land on this channel for an over the top refinish. Lovely job, looks great.
Hmmm, maybe partner with a local jewelry maker. I bet he or she would really appreciate this display to bring on craft fairs to display their work. Be a cool story to tell customers when the inevitably ask where this awesome vintage case came from. 🤜🏻⚡️🤛🏻
Thanks ☺️ glad you enjoyed
I haven't seen someone polish a turd before, but you did a FANTASTIC job at it. Well done.
With the glass sides and top I'm thinking it would look nice as an indoor greenhouse.
Something old can become new again. It can become something anyone would want in their house. Thank you for saving a BEAUTIFUL piece of history. It 100% better. Great job❤
Thank you for your kind comment!! 💛
Much awaited, much appreciated looking forward to excellent work as always from you.
Much appreciated!
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! That is definitely a true "trash" to treasure piece!! The final results are absolutely stunning!! Awesome job Jay!!
I was waiting for this restoration since you posted it on instagram. Such an incredible job!
I would have that in my home. A perfect and beautiful way to display my collection. Masterfully done Sir.
I like learning about different techniques 🥰 merci beaucoup from Montréal
You did it. Wow! I do believe it looks better now than it ever has. Each bit of sanding was necessary. I had to wait a few hours to watch the video & my anticipation was not disappointed. Thank you for saving this piece. It is a testament to your perseverance, experience & craftsmanship that it looks so nice now. Love the hardware.
Whether your sanding or having a ☕️ or taking a break with your 🐾furry friends🐾 I don't find it boring at all😊
Never
I actually like the sanding. I love watching the real wood come to life, and i find it relaxing. You have a way of making even the worst peices look better than new. I think it would make a great display coffee table.
You did a miracle with this project. Love Mondo so 🥰
Thank you! 🤗
O! This is absolutely gargantuan job! Perfect. Just perfect!
Thank you ☺️
As usual it is an amazing job that you have done. Love your cat so cute.
I remember seeing cabinets like this in some of the local shops where I grew up. They were just practical things hence the make do repairs. You did a great job bringing it back to life. I am sure there will be a “boutique” who would buy it for displaying merchandise.
It turned out beautiful. Don't underestimate how many people would love to have this in their homes to display important family heirlooms.
Thank you 🤩
It turned out wonderfully! I think you should sell it to an antiques collector, it would be ideal for small items, such as snuff boxes
I can’t imagine the thinking of people who don’t treasure these things enough to safeguard them.
Really wonderful. I like the little modern touches on the hardware and love the fact that you did not go for the fake distressed look. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much! 😊
I was told by my grandson that the cabinet would be ideal for displaying War Hammer figures. ❤
This was definitely a rising Phoenix project. Amazing job! I would consider using it to display personal jewelry.
Вот точно, восставшие из мертвых. Реанимация, реабилитация и новая жизнь. Уникальная работа.
From trash to treasure! You did a fantastic work on that piece. It was really damaged and now it became a nice furniture that can be used at any fancy small shop, as a fine display. Great job!
You have all my respect for the disassembly 🤩 Bravo!
I feel like I actually earned it with this one 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Flippingdrawers an Oscar
8:07 At this point, I'd have not stopped with the saw. Afterward, I'd be sitting in my back yard with a bag of marshmallows, some Graham crackers, and several Hershey bars.
😂😂😂😂 I was tempted
@@Flippingdrawers You did a fantastic job! It turned out so much better than I thought possible. 👏👏👏
I remember seeing the late night infomercials for the oscillating tool. Most people didn’t think it would work well. Now, it’s a valued tool in the shop.
his workshop is cleaner and better organized than my house
Mine too
I may have said this before about a previous piece, however,it applies here. You took something that was crumbling in your hands and made it into not just something functional, but attractive too.I never would have thought you could make it look so good. Bravo!
