I love your new fur baby. He's gorgeous. And so is the cabinet. Have your other shop assistants met the new guy yet? By the way - don't let people who give negative comments get you down. The kind of work you do is very much determined by the condition of the piece when you began, problems you run into while working on it, and expectations. I think this piece turned out beautifully. I wouldn't change a thing.
Totally agree with you. It's easy to say what we would do when we don't have that piece of furniture, and as we saw, that was a tremendous amount of work. I think it is outstandingly beautiful.
"You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." As someone who pleased none of the people all of the time, I know the most you can hope for is to "agree to disagree". And if the person you are communicating with is of an evangelical disposition, discussion is just a waste of time. Love what you do, and that's its own reward.
@@heatherc4748 This is NOT a forum into which personal prejudices fit well. Painting a group of people with the same broad brush is not only dangerous and grossly unfair, but reveals a judgmental and bigoted heart. Let's enjoy the matchless craftmanship of our charming host and his handsome new shop assistant, who I am sure will soon be a UA-cam celebrity in his own right. That cabinet is now one of a kind and considerably more attractive than the original IMHO. Your kitty, Mondo is gorgeous. Does he let you sleep? He's very active
Mando is so incredibly cute and fun! So glad you got a kitty of your own. As for the negative commenters, you’re absolutely right. You can’t please everyone and trying to is a no win situation. You are a masterful artist with a loyal following for a reason! Keep up the good work my friend. This one is beautiful and you gave it a new lease on life!
Oh my golly, this cabinet turned out so beautiful. I’m always delighted by your ability to bring out a new uniqueness to these vintage and antique pieces, Jay. Wow. And your little comedian in the background is a delight as well.
This is stunning! I love your spin on a classic. A side note about people’s comments: respond only to those who say something helpful. There will always be the newly retired fellow, sitting on the couch, making up crap to tell you. You started on a city street, reimagining clapped out furniture that was beyond help. Your skills build daily and if people can’t see that, that’s on them. Keep up the good work and say hi to Mr. Mayfield too!
@@DaleDix yes but you probably aren’t making ugly, nonsensical comments , at least I hope. Ultimately, I want Jay to know that he need not respond to comments that aren’t helpful.
I really like how this piece turned out. I think the two-tone wood color makes the decorative parts stand out more than before, but without being too “busy.” It’s gorgeous now!
You can't make everyone happy. YOU need to be happy with the end result. I absolutely love what you did with it. I think the colors match really well the art deco era, and the light details are just perfect!
The plummy brown - almost chocolate - with the gold of the natural oak reminds me of the elegance of front of house drapes in an art deco cinema. Glamorous.
Wonderfully done! By the way, some of us, most of the time, have a preference for darker wood. Often times for me, it conjures up mysterious, moody libraries, with lots of old leather bound classic books, a warm fire in a fireplace, and a comfy, squashy chair to curl up in. Your new assistant is very entertaining, and very cute!
Your new shop assistant is absolutely adorable. I hope we see him and the more senior neighborhood supervisors in all of your future project videos. Your videos are wonderful but the kitties make them even better!
Your new kitty is so cute. You are a magician, but are human too. You will never-never please 100% of the people. Remember that. You do you, which is phenomenal.
I love how you did this drinks cabinet. It looks modern, but still shows it's beautiful Art Deco heritage. But I found myself getting too distracted by your equally beautiful kitty, He's sooo funny! He's off his head!🤣🤣🤣

You know you can never please everybody, no matter what you do! So, just do it the way you think it’s best for each particular piece. I just love the way you have done it. The contra colours idea is making the piece so outstanding. Again, great job!
I love the two-tone results on this cabinet. The dark color of the body brings out the detail in the smaller decorative elements, and the lighter color of the decorative portions give depth and weight to the darker stained body. It all seems to balance without being overwhelming either way. It's absolutely beautiful. Almost as beautiful as the shop kitty! ❤
I have a few family pieces, some refinished, some not, so I would really welcome a two toned piece like this to tie everything together. I really like that you made the effort to preserve the original labels. My mom wasn't the well tooled professional you are so any dog or cat chew or scratch marks are still present on our old pieces. We tried to get the stories behind any damage so we could preserve the family lore. My grandma had a cat named Pete who got name checked in more than one incident!
Beautiful restoration. I love your work because you always make the drawers, interior, and back of each piece look as beautiful as the exterior. Love the new cat.
Looking at the drinks cabinet it strikes me that the 2 tone is very Art Deco. I think your restoration is spot on. It turned out beautifully! I also love your new assistant! He's adorable!
Jay I absolutely ❤ the restoration. The way you did the finishing lets the Art Deco stand out even more. So how do the neighborhood cats with Mando?
