I chuckle to myself every time you say, “Because I am a professional.”
And fancy AF
A professional that is fancy AF!❤😂
“Piece of wood thingy.” Such a relatable statement that applies to so very many areas of life!😂😂
Not just a professional...but, a professional that is a perfectionist!! Such amazing work!
Congratulions! Good job!🌷🌷
Too few restorers don’t pay attention to the backs and bottoms. I love your attention to detail, inside and out, top to bottom. Great professionalism!
I have to agree with you. ♥️😊👍
@@sandrastutheit1759 I agree
Thank you 🤩
@@FlippingdrawersNew Subscriber here! I love how meticulous you are with all these details. (Knowing it's there but leaving it would drive me crazy too) It's the "little things" that make a piece go from beautiful, to an extraordinary restoration. You are extremely talented 💛
@nicoletorial hi there 🙂 welcome and thank you 🤩
The backing, which you didn't recognise, is incredibly rare. It looks like hardened pressed leather and comes from a company called Lincrusta-Walton, but is a mixture of linseed oil and putty. It was used to decorate the walls on the Titanic in areas of 1st class. The company still exists and nowadays manufactures linoleum. If you still have a sample, you have a piece of history.
You are Professional AF! That's why I watch you. That and the cats wrestling!
Exactly what I wanted to write! 😅😅😅
Cat wrestling is always fun
As frustrating as this piece was for you, I knew it would be beautiful in the end... because you are a professional! 😊
100% AF
No more apprentice?
I love the fact when he’s finished, every piece is a beautiful piece of “useful “ art or history. His work is incredible.
Really beautiful! It was a bunch of work, but I notice you don't shy away from hard work.
Thank you! 😊
Simply amazing, The attention to detail really brought this piece to life. I would never imagine it would turn out like that. You're not just a professional you are a master of your craft!! Beautiful job!!
They say sculptors know the finished shape is just waiting inside for them to reveal. You are a sculptor if you could see the beautiful piece inside that pile of trash you started with. So incredibly beautiful.
Only a professional could make that sorry pile of wood look so good! I love the legs you chose for it…I really enjoyed watching the process and your humor. ✨
Oh goody! Another “FlippingDrawers” video. This is the highlight of my evening.. I’ll just pause the video and put the kettle on so I can relax with a cuppa tea and watch. And another triumph! You are a miracle worker!
That sounds lovely 🥰 thank you and enjoy!
There was a moment there when Hugo walked in and questioned your life choices. 😊 I think, there was probably a top made of oak. Brilliant and FAF as always.
lol it is a mystery 😂 it is oak now though lol and thank you
I love this transformation! Great job, Jay! I always enjoy your videos.
BTW, you should have t-shirts made that say “Because I’m a Professional” and “I’m fancy AF”!
Oh, one phrase on the front, the other on the back! Mando face on front, tail on back! Take my money!
I would buy those tee shirts
Hugo's meow was so cute! I also love how used to power tools Mando is! ❤ so sweet!
You are brave. No daunting task is too daunting for you. My deepest respect!!! Some will say crazy in the best possible sense.
It was great seeing you bring this piece back to life, while still taking some time for the cats - because you are a professional 😸
I simply adore you! Because you are a professional! You are my favorite to watch!
Реставрация на все 100%!
Красота да и только!
Браво мастеру!
Кропотливая работа скажу ювелирная!успехов вам в дальнейших проектах!
I know you are a professional and fancy af because you used a wood thingy
A secretary desk is so practical and space saving. This is also just plain enough to go with most types of furniture and elegant enough to be an accent piece. The 👍
🤩 your patience and skill saved another piece of furniture 😊
Thank you beautiful Carol🥰 glad you enjoyed the video 💛
I love that you find these really beat up pieces that most people would throw away and give them new life. Beautiful results.
Love your sense of humour. You bring a smile to my Sunday ❤❤❤
Wow! That secretary desk was one step from the scrap heap. Huge nails and uneven edges, mismatched wood and a non-working lock. The outstanding makeover proves you are surely a determined - and professional - craftsman! 🎉
It’s a WOW. I can’t believe the difference. I am in awe. Really.
Hi - I'm Bob, and more than happy to be your uncle as and when. Nice job, good to see that this family has skills. Clearly, you ae a professional.
😂😂😂😂hi and thank you
That is beautiful. I really love the texture and color that the pine boards in the back bring. As usual, you created another masterpiece.
Hey there! A++ for complete disassembly!! This was a ton of work and it looks amazing. You are a beast for taking this on!! 🥇🥃
That’s coming from a true warrior 💪🏻 you’re the disassembly specialist 😂 thanks buddy🙂🍻
@@Flippingdrawers I do love taking sh!t apart... 🤷🏽♂
I don’t know how you remember where everything goes when you put it back together! 😅
I take pictures before refinishing a piece. You can use masking tape to help remember where each piece goes…
He has the video material. 😅 Most of the stuff he records never come to our eyes like he said 5.5 hours material cut down to 30 minutes. And yes, I know there is much work to do without even recording it. I am building my own cabinet at the moment (not very beautiful because I'm not professional, but still learning new things. 🙃
Yay!!! Completely take Apart! Music to My Ears! You did a Wonderful Job Explaining the Possible thought process of the Original Maker as You Dissected, Worked Out the Flaws and Reassembled the piece! You're a Great Furniture Detective! It's a Great Arts and Crafts Movement piece Now and I Think You've kept the Spirit of what the Original Maker had Attempted to do. Purists complain about changing the Work of Original pieces that may be Imperfect but those are often the Ones Nobody wants and will end up on the Scrap Heap. I Love it and I'll Bet the Guy who made it would Love it too! Hugo was a Real Lovebug today. Are His Eyes really that Lovely a shade of green?
It looks great! I especially like the contrast the pine back provides.
I really love how you pay attention to the small details! It´s a lot of work, but I guess it also gives great satisfaction to change an ugly duckling into a beautiful. elegant swan.
Looks amazing! And Yes! You are a professional!!!
You're going to sand the bottom because you are professional AF! And you know it.
Great project - melding the old with the new with the new legs. Love the result.
Wow, Jay you took this piece and turned it into a show stopper! You definitely are a protectionist and a professional 😊! The wood grain is gorgeous! All you hard work paid off big time! Spectacular transformation and job! 😊❤
always enjoy you interacting with the kitties...
Bob’s your uncle! LOL - thanks for making a piece of the world beautiful!
My late husband loved working with wood, thus I admired your hard work on this piece. Your passion for your hobby shines all the way. I looooove looking at your vlogs, even if I am ignorant. Your sense of humor is a bonus❤❤
Ammonia fuming is what Stickley did with their furniture. Takes the yellow tones out.
THANK YOU!! Any idea how they did it?
I'm facing a LARGE china cabinet/buffet made of "yaller" pine (not yellow but "YALLER!!") I think it may have been a shop class project or some company bought a boat-load of unfinished furniture from overseas and planned to finish it in the US. If I could fume the hell out of it with ammonia my life would (wood) be good again. Maybe seal the pieces in a large plastic bag with a pan holding high-test industrial ammonia for 48 hours? Put it out in the sun to get it warm?
What's good enough for Stickley is good enough for me.
I appreciate you investing the extra time and work to have your pieces be the best they can be. A sign of a true professional!
I love and appreciate that you're a PROFESSIONAL!!
Thank you!
Another exquisite finish!
Just beautiful. Thank you for showing us that this is the way to restore & refinish furniture. Your skills & efforts are the reason your channel has become so successful. That or the cats.
Great project Jay! Final results are stunning
Thanks Jamie 🙂 much appreciated
HUGO is GORGEOUS.........Nice job with the cabinet too.
Thanks for saving another piece & making it look amazing.
I came for the awesome woodworking, and stayed for the delightful humor. Cuz I, too, am a professional. Professional what, idk. Cheers, Mate!
I love it when Cilla shows up!
hARD TO BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME PIECE. GREAT JOB!!
WOW!!! SUPERB!!!👏👏👏
Great job, Jay! I personally love this piece!💖
Wow, wow, wow! That came out beautiful! So many furnature restorer's so not completely clean up the wood like you do and honestly there is a huge difference in the finshed piece. Your's looks showroom ready every time. I do enjoy watching you.
You ARE a Professional! Love it! ❤❤❤
You are a professional perfectionist! Love how much care you give pieces that most would have put into a trash bin. Awesome!!
I don't know why you joke about being a professional. You ARE the consummate professional furniture restorer! I watched someone else's video the other day and was screaming at the TV b/c he didn't sand inside the drawers and remove stains, or sand the back of the piece. You do such outstanding work on all the pieces you touch! Kudos to you!! BTW, closed captioning says "Bob's your ankle" instead of uncle. LOL.
I'm amazed at the end result. Wow. 🙂
Repaired with the original wood, gaps fixed etc., might be ideal to some, but I don't find something more valuable just because it's old, especially when it was never a work of art in the first place.
What you have done has not only strengthened the falling to pieces old wreck, but has also made it really good to look at, and both those things will give it another lifetime of use and pride of ownership.
It's now sturdy, useful, and very attractive, and I'd be very happy to have it myself. Great job. 👍🤗👩🦳
I love what you did for the legs. Great touch!
Holy cow what a back breaking project. Love that little trick to hide the screws that support the top! Great vid as always!
As a professional, there should be more Hugo and Mango breaks. They are so adorable! Great job! I love those legs.
That cabinet was in desperate need of some tender loving care! You did an outstanding job with it! I always enjoy watching your videos!!! ❤❤❤
I love how the new back came out! It looks spectacular.
Wow! I love your attention to detail! ❤ Stunning results! Also, thank you for filming, editing, and sharing this video! We admire your hard work! 👍🥰👍❣️🐈❣️🐈❣️
Beautiful job from a true professional. Very, very i formative and fun to watch. You looked quite comical when you were scraping. Such hard work. Thank you once again.
This piece of furniture is ABSOLUTELY beautiful!
That looked like hard work Jay! But the results make all the effort (sanding!) well worth it.😁
What a beautiful secretary desk! I wish the pine tannins would have reacted the same as the rest. I really liked the look of that method. As usual, great work, Jay. 💕
Absolutely beautiful and fitting in in just about any decor. Lots of work but what a result! Well done.
Stunning transformation. Beautiful
The top is missing. It would have been a glass shelf cabinet with doors. you do wonderful work and I enjoy your videos. Thank you ❤😊
Love watching you change, what I would burn, to something beautiful. ❤🌻
Beautiful!
i love how detailed you go when fixing tiny aberrations! no one would even notice anything was ever wrong.
Hola buenas tarde bonita restauración Saludos
That looked like a lot of work but the results are amazing. You always make worn out furniture look beautiful! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I also enjoy watching your cat friends.
Beautiful 😍 , and it was worth the effort!! Somehow, I believe Hugo also got fed up with all that sanding. It definitely interfered with his scratchy time. As for Mando, he took one look at this lot and decided that you were on your own, and he is going to get lost. You will have to make up for the lost cuddle s later on! ❤😂😂
Once more you take a wreck and turn it into the most beautiful piece of furniture. I love the way you treat the back and the bottom with as much respect as you treat the sides and the front and interior. Thank you.
You always do a fantastic job 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Your patience and attention to detail paid off. The cabinet is gorgeous 🎉🎉🎉
You're always top top top!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! 😃
That is stunningly beautiful.
Superb ❤. Jay. I lost my partner, in June to pancreatic cancer . I'm lost without her as we were together for 21 years. Your videos are a wonderful distraction.... thank you ❤
What a save! Very nice.
This looks like something my grandpa put together with scrap wood left over from other projects. Grandma said, "I wish I had a small desk with a bookshelf for writing letters." And he made one. I have tables and bookshelves and little doodads that grandpas, uncles, and my dad have made. They are all the more treasured for their imperfections and quirkiness. Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for saying this. This was a obviously a handmade piece, and I’m sure it was well-loved. The perceived imperfections should be cherished, not mocked or scorned.
What an incredibly beautiful transformation! You are so generous with your explanations and details that you choose to share. Just love the beauty you add to things that might otherwise be thrown away.
Awe HUGO you’re beautiful 😻
Well done! Yes you are a professional!
I’ve been refinishing furniture for over 30 years and I always try to keep it with original wood. Remember, it tells a story. It doesn’t have to be perfect..
Every story can be edited for continuity, grammar, and context, to improve the experience for the reader.
Funny. I knew a house painter that was so bad at his trade he would use the same phrase. Doesn’t need to be perfect. Interesting.
Yea, I liked the old wood look. There were certainly challenges to overcome, but I liked the story that the old wood told. 😊
True but not everyone appreciates that sentimentality. My wife for example does not want to see years of patina or character, she only wants it looking perfect like no one has used it 😂
Beautiful job. I love this piece.
So funny! Does it ever end up being a simple project? Rarely, I imagine. Yes you are becoming a pro. You care about what you're doing. That piece looks like it was built with a lot of scrap wood. Considering that, it was a nice piece of furniture that was used for a long time. After you redid it, it will last for many more years.
Looks BEAUTIFUL ! Great Work !
You just don’t learn, do you? 😂😂 “Easy project.” 😂😂.
I am always impressed at how you can take a piece of junk and get such a wonderful result
Nice work, but the new backwall does not look right to me........
Incredible restoration! Breathtaking.
For older furniture like this piece they were often 'multi purpose' items. In this case - perhaps a book case/silverware or china cabinet below, a drop down letter writing table, and maybe even more china/display cabinet above (where you found the 4 useless screws). Women would use such items in the dining room or kitchen. They'd write cheques/ manage the family budget, deliveries, store receipts, etc, in the 'hidden' little drop-leaf desk-table. Today, this would make an excellent laptop/home office table with a bookcase/storage below.
I believe that piece was a secretary at one time. Probably had drawers to the right. It turned out beautiful except the legs. Look wrong.
I like the legs. But hey ho, each to their own😊
Your videos are a lesson in restoration, congratulations friend for the work and the cats.

So lovely!!! You coaxed forward the beauty within this piece and made it shine!!! Bravo, Professional!!!
I know you won't take this personally because you're a professional. I don't care for the pine backing and I think the legs are too modern for this piece. Don't yell at me.
😂❤
Same, but the oak parts are gorgeous
I was going to say same but you did good.
Your post is what is known as constructive criticism. No harm no foul.👍🏽
I think this piece would have had another piece of carved timber sitting on the original rough top, similar in style to the pull down desk front. You did a beautiful job as per usual and i love all your precise repairs to the timber and the fact that you clean and coat the interiors as well. Can’t wait for your next video. 🤗🇦🇺
Looks absolutely beautiful Jay!!! You always do such a wonderful job in restoring furniture.
