I sometimes loathe these topics I feel clearly are intended as clickbait trigger topics, where fomenting a perspective of dichotomous premises (falsely), especially, engender unthinking commentaries in the comment sections that, too frequently, spiral completely out of control.
Steph doesn’t need the finals mvp to solidify his legacy. He needs it to start moving up on the all time players list
Agree
That's horrible take. Finals MVP will move him up in the list as well as solidifying his legacy.
As great as he is, he's not great enough to lead his team and win Finals MVP. Brou pointing his points per game but the rest have to play defense ...Curry relies heavily to his teammates to cover for him defensively.
@@ronf.2029 I’m no Steph fan lmao so I agree that he’s never been able to lead a championship team and he’s caught alotttt of breaks im just saying the only way he can move up on the all time players list is if he gets a finals mvp don’t see how that’s a horrible take man😂
I agree, to validate his legacy as an all time great, a guy who changed the game, no he doesn't need a Finals MVP. However to move up into the Top 10 all time? Yes he does. I would actually even argue he actually needs a 5th ring and 2 Finals MVP to finally move into the Top 10. All the Top 10 are 6'6 and up. Steph is the only "small" player to even be considered to move into the Top 10 all time. Just because of his impact. But he needs a 5th ring and 2 finals MVP to do that. I think if he gets his 4th and 1 Finals MVP, He would be Top 12 without question. Either 11 or 12. but if he gets that 5th and 2. Well that puts him with Kobe and that means he is without question moving someone off that list. Whether that'd be Hakeem, Wilt, Bill, or Bird. Maybe even Shaq.
i agree he is the 29th best player of all time
Broussard is the man. Brining those finals averages from the all time greats says it all.
Bruh seriously how many times we gonna have a discussion on this topic
Until the games start
Better than Having LeBron topics
Until he wins it. Hopefully he does so we can move on
Until season starts again and Lebron is playing
untill steph wins a finals mvp lol
No matter what Steph does it will never be good enough. The man is an awesome player.
Right... he had great close out games to
@SamoaVsEverybody_814 lol so what. There's all time great players who don't even have a chip. This guy has 3 and possibly gunna get 4
Fun fact…even if Curry gets the MVP this year , next year people will be saying he needs to repeat to solidify the fact that he is even as great as he is🤦🏽♀️.
Lol yup. He beat the nuggets skeleton crew, than the grizz without ja, n than my mavs who in all honesty, had no business being in the conf finals this year...i won't disregard their chip if they win, but ppl still gotta admit they had the easiest road to the finals, maybe in a while...🤷♂️
It is about building up his résumé. What curry has achieved so far has guaranteed his HOF and top 15 legacy. However, if he wants to be considered top 10 or even top 5, he will need more championship and FMVP
@@artur583 yah.. I just hate arguments that all are injured or young etc.. It's part of the game.. Stats doesn't matter anymore in the playoffs if you wanted just to win..
@@roweeadrianbermudo268 yea it def is. And every year u can pretty much point out an injury that ended up changing the entire landscape of the playoffs...but ppl gon still hate regardless unfortunately
The media can’t make up their mind on what Steph is. Lol these media folks are an overpaid walking contradiction employee. They are like high school teenagers, instigate and start rumors so they’ll always have something to talk about. Lol
Should've won it over Iguadala...but LBJ actually should've gotten it
Nah makes the award meaningless if a losing player can win it
@@hurt4alleternity how so? Bron was on the verge of stopping the Warriors dynasty before it even started...by Himself! If anything, giving it to Iguadala makes it meaningless
Exactly. If it ain’t Bron, it’s the person guarding Bron. Whether it’s Iggy or 14 ppg Kawhi
@@Briana-a13 no if it ain't bron it goes to the best player on the winning team which was steph
@@SosukeTYBW I agree that’s how it should be… but clearly that wasn’t reality cus 16 ppg Iggy won it over 26 ppg Steph
Wilde’s face when Nick says the wrong player won finals mvp 6x 💀😂
Yeah he was disgusted by that as he usually is when Nick starts lying like he's Unc LeShannon in that very same network.
Coincidence? 😂
In NBA history, it's not often a point guard wins the finals mvp except for Magic Johnson because he's a 6ft9 point guard, that's a fact.
The only averaged sized point guards to win it are Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Isiah Thomas, Jo Jo White, Joe Dumars, Dennis Johnson and Jerry west. That's 7 point guards to win it from since the finals mvp was officially made.
And about Joe Dumars, Dennis Johnson and Jerry West they are actually listed for most of their careers as shooting guards but I was reading that they can also really play point guard like a combo guard so in that case I might as well put Dwayne Wade in there.
Despite every thing I just said here a lot of these point guards I just named here are not greater than Oscar Robertson who doesn't have a finals mvp but has won a championship, Kareem was the finals mvp instead of Oscar when they won it sometime in the 70s but Oscar was very important and vital on why they won too. Kareem didn't win it all for a while after when he no longer had Oscar until he got with another great point guard like Magic Johnson even though like I said before that Magic is an exception because he's a 6ft9 point guard.
Stephen Curry and Oscar Robertson what they have in common is that they are legendary point guards with at least one championship but no finals mvp but Curry has the opportunity to remove himself from this category because he's still actively playing.
The over analysis of curry in the finals is insane lol.
Not at all. Last night kinda shows why he doesn’t have one. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish. Outside of the first quarter it was a subpar game for him.
2011-2018 was just LeBrons world. If he wasn’t FMVP, then whoever guarding him was. Whether it was Iggy or 14 ppg Kawhi, they benefited from simply being the same position as Bron
Kawhi actually clamped Bron, didn’t just “benefit from simply being the same position” 😂
To be fair - in 2011 Wade was on track to be FMVP until Bron had his historic meltdown and the Mavs won 4 straight.
@@kydafool.3 Bron averaged 28 ppg on 57% from the field kid
@@AZNHERMANITO24 yeah I’m talking about the seasons after that. October 2011 - 2018

Really liking this show. Took a few years to find its footing but they got a good rhythm now with this crew.
the other white guy is the worst lol
It’s scaring me that Curry won’t get FMVP, imo Andrew Wiggins was the most valuable player in the WCF
8:05 exactly why timmy didn’t win in 2007 and 2014. he could have been a diva and forced the ball to his hands and maybe the series goes down a different way instead the spurs went 8-1 in those finals and people use that against timmy that he wasn’t the “best player” on his team. same stuff is happening to steph.
Tim Duncan has 3 finals mvps lol
This argument is terrible because all the other guys have at least some FMVPs 😂😂😂
@@chrisvthe122 i’m talking about what broussard is saying. the players he talks about value championships more than personal accolades.
@@brianlarkins4250 yes i know. just talking about he was the best player on all 5 championship teams. he just didn’t mind letting others run the show or win the awards in 2007 and 2014
@@JuanMorenoJr that’s cool real basketball heads understand that. But at least they have some FMVPs especially as multiple time champions and it matters that you were at least the main catalyst in some of your chips
This bs they was killing Kobe until he got his fmvps lol
To be fair Kobe had a horrirble game 7 in 2010.
not nick spoiling the top 10 list
I think Draymond Green clearly stated it. The reason why Finals MVP is important to some people, is because people like shiny things. In my opinion, Steph should've won Finals MVP in their first Championship. He also should've gotten his 2nd MVP during that 2nd year with KD. He only had one bad game during that series.
Stop saying its to validate his career 🤦♂️ its to move up on the all time list. LeBron would not be 2nd All Time if he had no FMVP’s
Probably not
Truth.
Lebron is definitely not 2 all time in my book.
@@TheSantaClaus1983 Indeed. Top 5 for sure. But Im sick of ppl who's saying he's a lock for that 2nd spot. Kareem, Kobe, Magic those guys are up there too.
Exactly guys bec the media put him there the last 2 seasons bec of SYMPATHY bec they knew he can't catch MJ whatsoever!
And Lebron is THE ONLY MVP IN NBA HISTORY WITH 6 FINALS L'S hmm so is that what a top 2 player is 👀☠
Sadly, I agree with Nick
Finals MVP do matter. Imagine what if Pau had won FMVP instead of Kobe.
So Kobe would have 5 titles and 0 FMVP. Sounds strange.
Curry is a legend and every other legendary player have a FMVP. So it does matter and he will get one in couple of week's time.
Steph was close in 2018 but I remember he had a legit bad game and they still won. Hard to overcome that. And I remember 2015. There was an argument that Deli gave curry fits the first few games plus that series changed one Iggy became a starter. That’s why he won even if Lebron still averaged 38 lol
That mismatch sock comment by Wildes is perfect comparison
Steph don’t need anything more he will be regarded as a legend after he retires best 3 point shooter nba ever had
It would be nice if Klay Thompson could win finals MVP. After dealing with all of his injuries. Knowing Steph Curry’s personality it doesn’t matter to him at all man. He just cares about winning as a team together.
Draymond riding steph and clays coattails - triple single.
We put people on pedestals because watching the fall is sometimes more entertaining than the climb. When I look at all-time greats, 10 years from now, 15 years from now, you are going to see Steph Curry among those greats without a doubt. If you really want to see the value of Finals MVP to a legacy, look at Kevin Durant during his two years with Golden State. Because of those two Finals MVPs, KD has been given credit for being a better player than he actually is. Offensively, a deadly shooter. Defensively, middling. He got those MVPs on teams that were already set, established, and winning without him. So, when you have a "supporting cast" of Steph, Klay, and Draymond freeing you up to do the things you do, you just have to do those things. Speaking completely for myself, I'm not going to look Steph as "less than" when he has four titles and no Finals MVPs. We all know the game of basketball changed _because_ of Steph Curry. Not a Golden State "fan"...not even a Steph Curry "fan"...I'm an NBA fan. Steph's legacy is locked...everything after today is gravy.
Even being top 100-500 all time is still great
Steph is knocking on the goat door! but he still needs to have an iconic moment in the finals, just for the narrative, because he has already proven that with just good players he can be very impactful and lead what many consider a super team while it is really not, even when KD was there they were very average each time Steph didn't play
To want to talk about Shaq you have an hour!😂😂😂😂
these convos are gonna die cuz Steph will win a Finals MVP this year!!
check out our Finals Preview and Predictions to know what's gonna go down :)
Sneaky Pick for the Odds is putting money on Al Horford at +6200 to win Finals MVP if he plays like he did against Milwaukee he could snag the MVP from the other players.
Jimmy Butler is my VIP.
Blame your colleague, Skip, for the narrative of Steph not showing up in the finals…
He doesn't need the finals MVP, you can blame Skip for that stupid narrative, that everytime Curry is the topic, he has to remember everyone that he doesn't have a finals MVP, that he's a choker for the 3-1 loss, and that GSW begged on tears for KD to rescue them.
That's the reality, kid 😪
Can’t argue against nicks logic… and I’m shocked that sentence came out of my mind lol
Steph plays in the most offensive era it’s like saying look how many yards Matt Ryan thrown against John Elway and Joe Montana. Chris historic context matters
I would hope the guy shooting more 3’s has more pts than the guys shooting 2’s
No Chris if the Warriors win & Klay get FMVP that would definitely hurt Steph 🤨
Y'all put too much stock in something idiot media heads vote on, it should just automatically go to the best player on the winning team not "o let's vote for the guy who guarded lebron" when you got Steph averaging 26, 5 and 5
This topic was done 3 days in a row 😴
This whole discussion is mood… as is the discussion about who is the goat.
It would do more to kd's legacy than Steph's imo if steph wins the finals & finals MVP. Doing that would virtually erase the 2 rings kd got to most. It would like "yeah, you won them, but did you really..."
That’s why the finals mvp should win it the star player not a prize for a player who spent 50 years in the league 🤷🏻♂️
I’m willing to bet Andrew Wiggins wins if gsw win
Klay might get it
Probably.
This didn’t age well lol
this finals mvp is a media creation....no one talks finals mvp..who cares? did you win the chip or not?
Thanks Nick! for the Gambling advice
PPG doesn’t mean anything. It’s all about efficiency!!! Anyone can put up 20 shots and get 25 points
I disagree. It takes skill to get those many shots up on a nightly basis. It’s a skill to be able to create your own shot. Anyone who’s played Basketball knows this.
@@manan612 yeah I agree, In the playoffs people are playing even harder defensive. So getting those shots up is a skill. 💯
@@manan612 it’s skilled to take bad shots??? Ok
Then I recommend you to check it for yourself the efficiency rate of those players that's Broussard brought up. Y'all really assuming like those legends didn't have any bad games, ever eh? Lol
Stop talking about him being robbed of that finals mvp but not mention how others were robbed of being the unanimous mvp because he shouldnt be the first or only.
Exactly 💯
Idk and I'll never know why people don't like Curry
Curry is the Scottie Pippen of this era with less rings.
2015 - Asterisk ring No Kyrie or Kevin Love. No Finals MVP
2016 - L
2017 - KD won him a ring
2018 - KD won him a ring
2019 - L
2020 - injured
2021 - Didn’t make the playoffs couldn’t win a Play In Game
This is actually facts.
Not a warriors fan but been to the finals 5 times and avg 26 6 6
If KD was the reason for the ring then KD would have won it in OKC. He needn't have joined GSW
2022: Faced high school teachers in the west and carried by Poole
Warriors won KD rings
Kinda strange Bru forgets the Spurs dynasty existed...
Nothing much in Curry if he wins finals MVP but when you compare him to the greats they accomplished much in finals and speaking of 2015 LeBron James numbers without love and kyrie iggy or curry couldn't have been finals mvp
Ya, LBJ put up good numbers but on terrible efficiency... 39% fg, 31% from three, and 68% freethrow... I think that's why Iguadala won, cuz he gave Lebron alot of trouble
slow your role chris Broussard. since the Shaq/Kobe lakers, the Spurs have won 4 championships. The warriors as of right now still have 3. Undisputed best dynasty is premature.
Some players care about FMVP... Check 2004 finals you will see...
Steph is not on the list because he is three point reliant. This also makes him much lower in the all-time greatest list.
In order to uplift Steph, Broussard's been lowering the bar these past days, it's quite annoying.
Voters stop giving MVP hardwares to defensive players with limited offense. In that case why not just hand the awards over to ben Wallace vs Lakers
He has to have one because people will Nitpick. It is what it is in this nitpicky world.
Iggy got FMVP in 2015 specifically because LeBron went superhuman and Iggy slowed him down just enough to stop him from single handedly winning the series
Exactly he contained LJ enough defensively, and he was in a zone with his mid range jumpers in that 2015 finals but at same time that is because of the attention Curry and Klay drew, the Cavs were daring Iguodala to beat them for the most part by leaving him open and he did. To me in my opinion that finals mvp could have gone either way.
@@bolo5190 It honestly should have gone to Bron. Even though they lost, that dude put up one ot the greatest performances I've ever seen and took it to 6 games with Dellavedova as his second best player lol
If Lebron didn't get it Iggy should have if you take iggy off the court lebron would had avg 44 15 9 assist iggy change the series and the momentum
He didnt slow him down tho Lebron was playing the best he could he just couldn't win
Slowing LeBron is relative. That's how great leBron is. Lbj can still give you like 30ppg even if you contain him lol
3 championships with 0 finals MVP and people say he's top 15 is crazy
He averaged 27pts 9ast 8reb the first title with Durant. No individual has ever gone on to win the finals and not get MVP with those numbers.

Is it more of an indictment of the voting for the lack of Steph getting a finals MVP, as is LeBron only having 1 regular season MVP?
Absolutely

The fact that Chris is trying to compare stephs scoring n say oh look how much more he scored than Kareem, bird, etc...bro, he averaged like 3 more points than those legends...all while playing in the modern nba, where the scoring goes up to 120s...bird n Kareem n Isiah were playing in games that were like 82-80....I hate these comparisons between modern n past nba...they completely different games man stop it
I disagree with broussard on this one, and that's rare
Broussard is talking about numbers and from the comments I see a lot of y'all agree, but y'all are also wrong, numbers have nothin to do with what I'm about to say, give me the last 2 minutes of the game and the warriors are down by 5 or 7, and let's see what happens, give me the last 2 minutes of the game and the Jordan Bulls or the Kobe Lakers are down by 5 or 7 points and let's see what happens, I'M TALKING ABOUT CLUTCH, I don't give a dam about numbers, there's been too many instances in which Mr. Curry has came up a little small, whether it's because he's 6"1 or 6"2 I don't know, but all I know is, to me, he's not very clutch, I'm sorry, and I love the way the warriors play, and I like Steph a lot, but I'm always honest
Sorry 🤷
What’s it do to his legacy if the Warriors win and he doesn’t get it?

Chris’s take is totally insane! If Lebron had no final’s MVP’s the media would be KILLING HIM! Wow
Steph has chips, massive endorsement deals and shoe deals! he doesn't need anything else, yall tripping if you think otherwise!
Steph averaged more points per game in the Finals 26ppg compared to Chauncey Billlups 21ppg yet the Finals MVP went to Billlups. So Steph doesn’t need to win Finals MVP as a legacy’s
If we keep saying "Its a travesty xyz- player didnt win FMVP", then that just tells me the FMVP award is probably not full proof credible is what I'm gathering.
Khawi avg 17ppg won Finals MVP and Steph avg 26ppg didn’t win Finals MVP the voting process total joke.
The Warriors play TEAM basketball. Steph is the facilitator. He could be selfish (like Westbrook) and go after individual accolades. Instead, he gets everyone involved. So let's use Nick Wright's case that Finals MVP can go to a player on the losing team. Do you think Steph would rather win his 4th title and not win Finals MVP or do you think he'd rather win Finals MVP and lose the title? The answer is obvious where Steph's priorities are. This "Poppycock" about Steph not having a Finals MVP is entirely media driven because they don't have anything else better to talk about.
Right
Now show Currys turnovers vs those others
You comparing his stats to a era that averaged less than 1oo points a game.
Actually the league averaged basically the same amount of points today when Moses kareem bird isiah and Erving played back inda day
it's about when you score not just the fact that you scored. if curry had 28 points in the first half then went scoreless in the 2nd half. the stats will still say he averaged 28 points. it's about getting buckets down the stretch to keep it close or get the win.
Go back and watch game 5 in 2015

Perhaps SKIP on your network needs to listen well and stop flaming the falsehood that Steph fails in the finals….
Chris makes some good points, but how Steph himself feels about it is not relevant to the question that was asked. Unless I'm mistaken on the specifics, I'm pretty sure Legacy is all about how everyone else sees you and your accomplishments, not how you see yourself and your own accomplishments. With all that said, I do also agree that Steph Curry should have won that finals.mvp over Andre Iguodala.
