Parked 38 years K15 will it start and go muddin?

  • When I first saw this truck I wasn't really impressed but then I learned that it is a 1 owner truck with only 55,000 miles. Now this truck clearly had a hard life for the 8 years that it was on the road and it must have came in contact with a lot of salt or cow poop judging by all the rust. It is a 76 GMC K15 long bed 4x4 with a 350 small block chevy and turbo 350 transmission. Can we get this old thing back in the mud after 38 years of being parked on the farm? c10 c20 c30 k10 k20 k30

    Ralphie: “are you straight pipin it son ?“ man , you have to watch this one over about 38 times to really appreciate all of the
    Comedy-gold . Mom Dad and Ralphie are so optimistic, Wah Wah is unsure if this needs to be her first vehicle or if she needs to shop around for a new family ! This is the type of stuff I want to do with him soon when I get the ability to buy another house with a garage again so I can have somewhere to work on the cars out of the cold ass weather! Hi, if the comments of a middle aged bachelor are any help, the only garage I ever had access to, was a normal domestic car one at my parent's home. It was only wide and tall enough for 70's-sized Euro-sized cars (US readers can think of VW Beetles or Rabbits and you won't be far off ). A lot of garages built onto houses have been turned into bedrooms because they were too small for modern cars. I have serviced some of my own cars - just basic servicing that being oil and filter change and on one occasion the mid section of the exhaust. This is something you could teach your lad to do. That and brake pad replacements and possibly shocks. I expect Josh's kids, if they don't work on a vehicle themselves, will at least be able to critically evaluate the work a garage does on their vehicles on their behalf.

    It's a 4x4 , and judging by all the 4x4 owners that I know, it probably got stuck. Somebody said " When in doubt, Gas it out!" and proceeded to over-wind it until something blew. Teenagers take this approach a lot. Great video! You know what the difference is between a teenager with a 2wd and a teenager with a 4wd ? The teen with a 4wd gets stuck 40 feet further out into the muck.

    Little trick i learned about temporarily fixing radiator core leaks. First you use a needle nose pliers to remove the cooling fins around the leak, then you cut the cooling channel/tube clean through, after that you just bend/ kink the left side to the left and the right side to the right- clamp both sides down good and that should significantly slow down or stop a bad leak for $0.

    It was common for guys to convert the full time four wheel drive NP203 transfer case used in 70's trucks to part time operation. There was a kit for about 300 dollars that changed some gears around inside. Afterwards, only the Low and Hi Loc positions were four wheel drive and the others were rear only.
    The hubs may have been changed. Those look like some kind of "Auto Locking" front hub intended for PART time four wheel drive trucks. They are known to be finicky. Part of getting them to lock was driving the truck forwards then backwards. Or maybe the other way around. Or maybe that was getting them to UN lock.
    So, that is why trucks that came with them were often swapped over to manual locking hubs that bolt right in in place of the auto locking.

    "You can't go wrong buying cylinder heads from the Piggly Wiggly" needs to be on a shirt. I laughed so hard at that. I would love to see you put in the work on this one. I'd love to see some patch repairs from a pro. How about how well can a pro paint with a harbor freight gun and paint from the hardware store?

    I appreciate all the work you do and I wish I could be there to help but in 16 and live in New York but I love to work on older vehicles myself I find it more fun to work on than newer vehicles. My grandma used to have a 2004 black Honda pilot and me and my uncle would do the brakes on it when needed be and really enjoyed doing it and that’s why I work on vehicles now because it’s something I enjoy and if I see anyone working on their vehicle I always ask if they needed help. Drain some of atf fluid if you have too much it will only have reverse

      This is Nothing compared to east coast rust. 10 year old trucks with see thru beds, frames rusted in half, quick disconnect control arms and brake lines.....never buy a truck from Chicago, Maine, north Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, doesn't matter where up there it's all trashed

    • @MakinEndsMeet69
      @MakinEndsMeet69 Рік тому +1

      @@ryurc3033 thanks so much for the reply I actually grew up on the East Coast born in South Carolina and lived in southeast Florida for half of my life and nothing rust out a vehicle worse than Salt whether it be salt from the ocean or salt on the roads if you don't keep it clean and keep it oiled it's going to rust. People say buy cars in the South but I have seen it on the East Coast in the south Vehicles rusted completely out. I live in Ohio now so yeah Vehicles don't last too long here unless you really take care of them or just don't drive them in the winter. A lot of people here just buy beaters to drive in the winter because they know they don't want to go through the trouble of cleaning them and keeping them lubricated. Anyway have a great day and have a Happy Thanksgiving

    Fix 4wd, roll bars with kc lights, flat bed, 6” body lift, 4” suspension lift, 44 swampers, lockers
    Used to go watch the trucks go muddying in those trucks in the local lake bed in the 90’s. Guys would drive till the truck broke, fix them and be out there the next weekend. Took my wife on a date to watch trucks go muddin. Eventually they stop allowing missing due to idiots dumping their oil on the ground and stuff, but there are A ton of good memories. Maybe one day I can make a mud truck of my own but as of now, I can just use my stock grand Cherokee
