Impressive diagnosis and repair, especially considering how fast you made it happen. I'd probably spend 6 months figuring all that out and solving it. Well done Sir! Cool video!
Chris, you stole that boat for $500! I cant believe you wont keep that one, its the nicest one you have refurbished. And for $4500 is even better deal. Congrats on the baby too, your gonna make an awesome daddy!!
I love that you class it up for the ‘Countach’ with the appropriate music once you are cruising…. As always Chris- a joy to watch and many thanks for bringing us along in your adventures. Thumbs up brother

we scored a similar boat back in like 2018 for about $750. unfortunately the engine in it was locked up solid. still managed to flip it to someone who planned to swap a new one in a few months later! was just a super lucky night of browsing marketplace and it came up. original owner kinda just threw his used beer cans in it after it blew up on the lake so we spent a while actually cleaning the interior.
Most boat ppl wouldn’t go near that thing even if it were free. Chris is a unique individual, his ability to improvise on tools and techniques is stellar. Love it!
I did it with a car, a 1965 Ford Thunderbird Landau, I bought it from some dealer in Oregon had it shipped to my home in San Diego for 10k-blown motor, but the body and interior was in mint condition, pulled the motor, completely rebuilt it stock (390 FE 6.4 L) cut a turn and a half from the front springs added 15x7 rims, low profile tires, I already had offers for 30k on it but it was fun doing it!
I bought one of these brand new in 1988. It was a great looking boat for the $$. And 56 mph on the water was nothing to bad either. Great hull design 4 foot waves at full throttle. Big fun!
Nice score on the boat. I had to pay almost $500 for two tires the other day and you're getting a boat like that. I guess that makes me jealous.(I am). Love watching you work on stuff you are the mechanic I wish I was. Jen is looking great and Gus is having the time of his life even if he doesn't know it. Keep doing what you're doing as it makes most of us happy and I for one am waiting for that little addition to come along.
As others said the bag of rocks absorbs moisture. Keeps the seats n cushion from mildewing. You can recharge them by tossing the entire thing in oven at like 250 for couple hours it will dry them out and they will soak even more moisture like when they were new
You've got it all Chris. Well done my friend. Good tools, good dog, and the most beautiul partner on the planet! Take care guys. Todd the retired trucker.
can understand that once a place is on the net especially a scrapyard people just go nuts thinking it's a free for all to bother some ones place of work/home and being obnoxious well said Chris
A tip for removing and reinstalling these outdrives. Unbolt the trim rams at the transom as well. Instead of trying to work the outdrive between them, you just strap them up out of the way and give yourself more room to wrestle the outdrive on/off. Edit* just got to the reinstall portion and see you remove them! Makes life so much easier.
If you put a product called Krud Kutter (sold at Menards ect) into a pressure washer "foam cannon" and spray it on every surface of your boat...wait 10 minutes and spray off. Works like magic on literally everything, safe and biodegradable enzymatic cleaner/degreaser

I’ve watched this twice now and that is such a nice boat Chris. I’m thinking that the owner was given a huge repair estimate and decided to get rid of it. Fortunately he sold it to a repair tech who could fix it. Definitely was in fresh water because it’s so clean. Nice to keep or a money maker! Jet
