Thank you for your service… I thank your son for his and you have my deepest condolences and sympathies. I’m truly sorry for your loss… I have lost a son as well. It’s brutal and I’m still destroyed. 4 years and it’s still horribly painful
@@nightfall22 Yes it has devastated me . Every Sunday morning I travel to the Fort Bliss National Cemetery to visit him now. Thank you my friend and my prayers go out to you and your family 🇺🇸
@@propblast82nd thank you so much, you’re like me. I go visit my kiddo 2-3 times a month. I hope you have a blessed Sunday. I have said a prayer for your son’s memory and I will keep you all in my thoughts. Even though I know it’s hard but I hope your pain lessens.
I have a standard FN 509. It was the first handgun I ever purchased. I did successfully conceal it for a time, but I admittedly have drifted to using smaller carry firearms. Even so, I will NEVER sell my 509. No, it isn't optics ready like this one and it doesn't have the trigger upgrade either. But I put a light / laser combo on the rail, and it is to this day my go-to home defense and outdoor carry gun. It is the largest handgun I own, and I love how it shoots.
Bro you don’t have to explain yourself! You’re very knowledgeable and probably have more heart than some cowards that served. Screw them keep the content going
For the most part, it looks like a lot was done with the FN 509 MRD-LE series to truly make it out-of-the-box ready for LEO’s. I like the suppressor height sights as standard. This way, one trains the same way for presentation, with or without an optic. No change needed if one adds an optic later. Everyone is talking about the trigger. The grip texture reminds me of the original SA XDs aggressive texture. It comes with (4) MRD mounting plates, which makes optic installation, no fuss - no muss. I wish this series had more texturing areas on the frame. Additionally, I found it interesting that the mag release is “right hand only.” I assume this specification is for universal/uniform training and handling for LEO personnel. Although a southpaw myself, I do see tactical merits in this. I easily trained around this decades ago… lol. The series comes in various model configurations, which should accommodate personnel of different sizes and carry needs. LAPD Approved Models (as of 05/22/2024) FN 509 MRD-LE 9mm 17+1 4.0” BBL FN 509 F MRD-LE 9mm 17+1 4.5” BBL FN 509 M MRD-LE 9mm 15+1 4.0” BBL Not currently approved FN 509 C MRD-LE 9mm 12/15+1 3.7” BBL The FN 509 MRD-LE series is purpose built and ready to go. 1:44 couldn’t agree more bro. Unfortunately, many mil dudes thinks military training is some special shit😂 meanwhile they literally teach you the incorrect way of shooting a pistol. I’d listen to a grand master shooter than a 20 year vet any day. Much respect to ALL at the end of the day.
You’re doing a great job. A lot of these guys like to criticize and talk trash because their own lives are trash or in shambles. They think it gives them meaningful power to dog someone else. Keep doing what you’re doing. Us guys need to support each other, especially us blue collar guys.
I work in law enforcement, work with many great guys that serve this country and I have training out the ass. You are one of the few guys who I trust their judgment on firearms. Dont let anyone talk down to you, most of us in the comments shoot WAY less than you do.
As someone into firearms and making content, your qualifications are just fine, my brother. And bro, I literally am making a video about how people shit on budget optics because it’s not what’s cool and being talked about on UA-cam.
When they first released, I think they called them the MRD model. Nice looking trigger! Five years after release, I think I'd go with a PDP Pro, If I was looking for a new compact or mullet. Don't waste time on the armchair critics. I have all those credentials (plus more), and I find your reviews of your high volume of micros and sub compacts to be very useful! Keep up the good work man! 👊🏼🇺🇲👊🏼
Why is that vet watching firearm videos? Just to beat his chest and out others down? I don’t care if you are a vet…. Make your own channel and stop trying to swing your pickle around. I don’t care what your background is… unless the UA-camr is giving bad and dangerous info keep it pushing sport. That being said thank you to all vets for defending our country. But just because you’re a vet doesn’t make you right.
Great review brother! I had it's cousin, the FN FNS40 It was a great pistol with one flaw..... I like to be able to completely disassembly my pistols, and the locking block frame pin is a major pain to remove.
I bought a first gen FN FiveSeven brand new in the early 2000s. Fired maybe 1200 rounds thru it over the 20 + years I owned it. Started having problems with it and sent it back to FN for repair last year. It was returned to me in a few weeks with no explanation of what they did to repair it. Called FN customer service and after being put on hold for a few minutes was told the pistol needed a new barrel and they no longer made barrels for that particular model. Sorry. I won't ever buy another FN product. Now that I'm done venting about FN, thank you for your videos!
As far as I know Jerry Miculek and Jerry Barnhart never served in the military yet I would take their expertise regarding guns and training over what a lot veterans think is their knowledge and supposed expertise. I'm a veteran and I can't stand when other veterans use their service to try call out people who never served but responsibly train on a regular basis. It's as if they think non vets have absolutely no right to have or make informed opinions about weapons and self defense even though it's in a civilian setting. It smacks of Dakota Meyers gatekeeping.
Had tons of issues with my reflex. I’m on my 3rd front sight since the first 2 died out after a single range session. It works well now but had to be sent in twice. It was my first fn so a bit disappointing but they made it right by fixing. Replaced a few parts as well.
Even Tier 1 guys like Rangers and Seals don’t shoot that great, just combat effective hits and bring in non veteran 3 gun experts to do the training for that reason. Recent Ranger training YT vid came out a few weeks back, and the guys shooting are flipping and limp wristing like crazy. Cops especially don’t get enough range time and something like 18% of shots in OIS actually hit their intended target. A real combat veteran would have the humility to figure that they don’t know everything and learn from anyone with value added, and to know the difference. Carry on. Also would like to see the XL CC 509 on the channel- they do make a compact version of LE as well.
I served but I’ll be honest there are many incompetent Combat veterans that have not learned proper training of course they hold their own but todays UA-camrs I would say train more than combat vets who stopped progressing in their own time… As a person who served in the Marine Corps 4/5 years ago being completely unbiased I learned from my Texas friend how to shoot better than the corps itself
So, this might be a dumb question, but when you say you carry 24/7, do you mean you carry your firearm at home as well? Or do you keep it in a lockbox in the house?
2018-ish production FN509 was a complete POS. Unreliable, poorly constructed, parts failures including mag catch and striker. FN was uninterested in servicing it. FN’s pistol history over past decade is questionable. They abandon platforms very quickly (e.g., FNX, FNS).
Spent a buttload on a 509t - damn near perfect except for two thing. Trigger The shoe is great. The function is dog water. And the grip texture is too random.
