I deleted my fb, barely use my IG and post videos that I like onto tik tok. I only scroll on tik tok for a few mins a day. I don't get the obsession w it. But having less social media doesn't leave me feeling like I'm missing out on something
I don't have a Tik Tok, but I've noticed Instagram being annoying with ads, too. Also, most of the stuff I see when im scrolling isnt even from people im actually following. I hate it because what is the point of following people/pages on there if you barely see their content?
I never experienced the lockdown. I’m a Registered Nurse and just kept right on working. I have never used TikTok and don’t intend to. I’m older, my kids are grown and I see them use TikTok and it seems it would take me away from reality too much. I got rid of all social media except UA-cam because I don’t like my time wasted. I literally prefer to simply read actual books and go outside and walk and not have ads thrown at me continuously.
We're in the midst of late-stage capitalism. At some point, all of these social media apps start directing people to buy buy buy! I left Instagram shortly after it became nothing but a virtual mall. Fortunately, I've never had a TikTok, but I'm not surprised at them going in a similar direction. P.S. - That intro was stellar. Kudos to your editor!
i would love to be in australia and be living without tiktok shop i hate going on there now bc everything is an ad or affiliated in some way and if i want to see my friends posts to swipe over there i need to swipe through the shop😭 i don’t even use tiktok very often but like it is like an extra deterrence not to go on there for a mental break 😭 and instead of seeing the stuff i used to like i just see eligible for commission or jaded london ads or people screaming about how u need to buy these skims dupe tops like please 😭
My mates in other countries without TikTok shop still get peoples videos reviewing + linking items they got on TikTok shop so it’s just as jarring. I didn’t get any extra compulsion to buy a bunch of stuff I didn’t need but every single fucking video was one that was commissioned, followed by a real ad. It was so jarring 😂😂
I don't use Tik Tok and I have zero interest in Tik Tok Shopping as well. I'm tired of being sold to. And I think we all need to stop and take a hard look at what we are buying, why and is it necessary? We have landfills full of stuff that people don't want/use. Where does it end?

I have adhd and autism (higher on the spectrum) so I have bad impulses especially when it comes to shopping. I will say I have gotten a lot better with it over the past year or two as I plan to move out after college. But this is the exact reason i avoid TikTok if I’m on instagram and I see something I want to buy it takes an effort to get to it or if I see something on UA-cam like a book or something. I have caught myself many times wanting to buy a video game or movie when I am able to find a lot of movies online for free. Avoiding collecting figures and random shit has helped me. I’m still not perfect but 9/10 times I’m usually catching myself

If I can give some viewer feedback, I feel that the amount of text, pictures and other cutaways was a lot in this video, which I found distracting and forcing me to look away from you to see what else was on screen. I like the editing overall, but I'd prefer less of it, if that makes sense. Great topic and video!

Haha once a friend smirked and laughed at me when I said I didn’t have this apps haha.. while she was dancing hard there and she felt so disappointed I was not there to see her and following her account. Yay!
“Inauthentically creating influencers.” Instead of creators creating content and they also have sponsors, we have creators creating content BECAUSE they have sponsors. The real question is: Do people want it? If they want it, they’ll continue to watch. If not, a new platform will take off. I won’t be shocked to see creators in the future promoting that they do not have sponsors, or only have exclusive deals with certain companies, like how they did radio and TV. Instead of soap operas, we’ll have soap TikToks.
I do think TikTok shop is gonna be a big business. And honestly, won’t be surprised if other social medias added that function too, just like when instagram adopted reels after TikTok
The only things I’ve ordered from TikTok shop is two pillows for neck support and a heated pad/belt for period pain. I LOVE these items and I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the few bad reviews! The over buying/consuming on TikTok though is crazy.

I too am addicted to shopping. I was addicted to shopping starting at a young age (teens) when I got my first job. Then I became a drug addict and now that I'm sober I am back to being a shopping addict. I bought shapewear from TikTok shop and immediately canceled the order. I've been working on not impulsively shopping. It's annoying but I will buy something and then return it. It's weird but I'm working on not buying it in the first place.
Not downloading tiktok or being on tiktok is the best decision for my braid. If I ever join, its would be purely to create something myself. That’s it.

Well I don’t even have tik Tok . Its an entertainment to me, which my hubby is in charge 😜. He used to be DJ in his 20’s , before became body guard. So we love music, mainly hip hop, but overall all music. So my hubby plays all these platforms on big screen tv. He is so amazing. He finds all kind of bloggers, from Europe, from my country, from Russia as well, cause I grew up influenced by Russian culture. He finds some old movies, even they are in Russian, and he doesn’t know Russian, he still watches 😜😂. So tic toc we do for education sometimes about Moors, etc, the truth history. Also when something somewhere happened, like in Miami, first days of New Year something was there. Ppl were running, and it was 75-100 police cars.or it really was some aliens, or fake something ( preparing us for another faux/ reality. If you check US history, every 4 years something is happening around the same time😱😉. So the world need to be on lookout, cause they do not want to allow new election ….😮) anyways they tried to say that it was some teenagers misbehaving in Miami 😳 yep and I born yesterday… 75-100 police cars, and ppl running from something and jumping into the cars yep …. Something was there…. So you can catch some ppl recording faster on tic toc. And of course viral dance or song. Also through Christmas they had beautiful put videos of Christmas markets, in Europe. I have been on TT for over 2 years and barely have a little over 200 followers. I don't have a shop, I just do videos to try to make people laugh. My feed can be flooded with ads but you can get rid of them for a short time. Yes, when you order, then your bombarded with that ad. There's a girl I follow who is now constantly pushing out product and she's coming off to me as disingenuous. Like I wouldn't trust her b/c she is trying to sell EVERYTHING she gets. She gets a ton of free stuff, which good for her, but she's trying to make quick cash and you can't do that and be sustainable in it. It's sad and what else is sad is that there are a TON of people who are so gullible and want to believe in whatever it is someone is trying to sell them on. That classic line, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" is something that is constantly playing in the back of my head when I'm about to get suckered into something. LOL.

Those dances put me off on the beginning and I never got Tiktok so I don't think I will be getting it after this video.
