  • Chemsex psychosis is a frightening frightening thing, and much more common than you think. Often it's the final hours of a couple of days on chems; a couple of days that include a huge range of extreme experiences, good & bad. Quickly dismissed from memory afterward, because it is too traumatic to process.
Stephen O'Sullivan is a kind colleague who has worked in emergency departments and witnessed those all-too-common presentations. We talked about that, as well as the trauma that accumulates after repeated paranoid experiences, repeated infractions of consent in chemsex scenarios, all interspersed among the heady joys & disinhibition that chemsex allows us. How the complexity of these wildly varied experiences can require some unpacking.
Stephen is doing his Doctoral Research project on these experiences, and is looking for participants who haven't used in 6 months and might want to contribute, by chatting to him about it.
Thanks Stephen, for your kindness, and for this really interesting conversation.
