That time again doesn't time fly i always enjoy the mid week and end of week drops thanks for the relentless effort and time you put into the work you do to provide us all with the easier and useful tips Corporal.🙏
Steve is such a laid-back guy. He provides fun content as well as some really good ideas for staying unseen by ordinary people. I watch The Corporal for more serious details and ideas but still entertaining in different ways. I heartily recommend both! I do wish someone would do a demo on light sources.
On the notion of sounds. If you hear sounds of birds and frogs around your area then it stops something new has come into the area be on alert. Once the animals around you get use to you they will go back to they normal activity, when something new comes into the area they will stop and be on alert.
I just wanna say I appreciate how you've just kept quality content pumping out year after year. You don't make it political, I've never had the sense anyone would feel uncomfortable watching your videos. They're just informational, entertaining and calming. Coming back to these videos over the years feels like visiting a cool uncle.
Corporal giving Steve an acknowledgement while putting tacticool in their place. Why I love this channel! Thank you for keeping it real and knowledgeable!
Back when I was on tanks in the Army every time we went out to NTC to train for a month we would spend the first and last weeks in "The Desert Shades". Each tank has 4 crew. Each crewmember had one shelter half. Drivers and loaders then TCs and gunners would put their halves together to form a small pup tent that two people could somewhat comfortably sleep in. When living on the tank during exercises, we would spin the gun tube over the back deck, put the turret in trav-lock, drape our tank tarp over the tube and tie it down to the 4 corners of the back deck and then manually elevate the tube until it created a "tent" we would all sleep under. Since the tank engine is literally a jet turbine, it would keep everyone warm the whole night since it took many, many hours to cool down when shut off. On deployments overseas, we slept inside the tank using various "sleep systems" created just for that. Think "tiny hammocks inside a tank". One member of the crew would be awake all night on watch and we'd rotate through the crew.
Gray man means fitting in to your surroundings. I.e., at Eagles football game, wear Eagles jersey. That person is the gray man. Wear a Dallas Cowboys jersey and it becomes a target.
100 percent spot on on the gray man discussion. In my area, camo is the most common, cultural thing to wear. Kids wear it to school, people wear it at work, hunters, fisherman, hikers, etc. Wear it in and out of town. You can go in a restaurant and see numerous people wearing it while eating. People camo there vehicle, and we even have a camouflage painted store! Dress up in gray,, and you'll stand out like a sore thumb.
I think this topic is so misunderstood... Gray man doesn't mean dressing in gray. It means to blend in to your surroundings and be totally unremarkable, completely forgettable, just a piece of the background. Camo can be gray man, but in an area with lots of military might even stand out if it's the wrong camo pattern. Dressing as a homeless person in San Fran can be gray man, unless you're clean shaven, or your cologne gives you away. A hard Hat, clipboard, and high-vis vest can be the ticket... unless it all looks brand new. Brown slacks, brown polo, and a brown hat, and I bet you could get about anywhere carrying a big box so others open doors for you. Brown is the new gray! Portland Oregon? Black jeans, black hoody, and a black mask, so you can blend in with the rioters long enough to get out of the area. Gray man. Urban? Woods? Walmart? A football game? Gray man is just about blending in to the background no matter where you are.
Happy Father's Day and thank you for the Great Father's Day Video!! I loved the fact that you put out the part about blending into your surroundings both in and out of the woods. Also the fact that unless you have an army behind you, if they really want to find you they will. This is a video that should be seen by all those out there that claim to be Preppers and are going to get away from "The Man". A daily reminder that simple things make life so much easier!! Thanks again and hope you have a Great Father's Day!!
That time of the week again! Let’s do this! Excellent, a shout out to Steve Wallis, love his videos! Been watching him for some years now and I’m pretty sure the algorithm from that led me here and I subscribed.
Before camping like that, i would spray permethrin on all surfaces of all my gear and clothing. And then take further steps to guard against ticks. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
Stealth camping in a drive in hotel is fun. Making a shelter under the bed covers and using a sleep lite bed roll inside that shelter... covert camping at it's best.
Thank you for the video Cpl. Kelly. I'm commenting before watching only because this is important. I want to thank you for being a great dad to your son and teaching him all that you know. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY now to the awesome AF video.
My take on the "Gray Man" has always been dress as the locals would dress in whatever part of the country you are in or even to be more specific dress as the locals of the town or city or even neighborhood (hood) your in...Basically what you are saying. Just my humble opinion from living on the streets in a few towns and cities.. Another great video by the way. You have helped me many times over the years with your videos.
That's exactly what a "Grey man" is, the irony of it is, he's saying he don't believe in it and yet he's saying if he was in a different place he would stand out. 🤣
Another great video and some very good points about stealthiness. To me, the concept of "Gray Man" never meant actually dressing in gray. I always took it to mean blending in with your environment - whatever and where ever that happened to be. If you're in an urban environment and you look like you belong, then anyone you come into contact with will usually assume you DO belong and aren't a threat.
Shawn, this is one of your best videos to date. Don't get me wrong because all of your videos are great but in the America we live in this one will actually save lives. Incidentally, all anyone needs is a shopping cart and pants on (actually the pants are optional in L.A.) and you wouldn't draw any attention. God bless you and God bless America. ❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Another thing is to never ever collect fuel ( i.e. wood, sticks leaves, bark, and anything else you might use) around where you are camping go at least a half mile away
Best explanation of the proper use of gray man I've seen. Although I'm retired army, was never infantry so even though we practiced it never became 2nd nature, but your assessment on many UA-cam warriors is dead nuts. Enjoy your vids.
True story. Flying as a crew chief on a Huey under NVG's I got a rude education on futility of light discipline against high tech devices. You could literally see what each troop was doing in their tent. Walking into the same tent later after our flight it was amazing how dim it was because they was using light discipline.
By far the best explanation of stealth camping I've ever seen. It's about enjoying nature as undisturbed as possible. Kudos for the shout out to Steve Wallis too :)
Great video yet again mate. Too many "Bushcrafters" in combats, chopping stuff up and lighting great big fired in public woodlands here in England. Whenever I go out, I blend in with colours, occasionally use camo trousers, but never start chopping down stuff and risking big fires...firstly because of fires getting out of control and secondly because there is nowhere publicly in England that you are allowed to camp, hence why we stealth camp and chopping down s**t isn't stealthy either. Good sound advice you're sharing buddy How's the boy? Hope he's keeping ok. Best wishes as always
Hi Corp, that's what I do. As i don't get time to go camping, every Friday night after work, I walk down and across the road to the bush, and hang in my hammock. As yet i have not been seen, as i am in the middle of a huge mulberry bush patch. It's so peaceful there. I don't have a fire as it would be seen. Love it though.
Green man isn't about strictly wearing jeans and non tactical gear it's about blending into whatever the rest of the people around you are wearing. So you in fact are practicing gray man by wearing what is common around you.
Always a good day when Corporal posts! But let's not forget we can make our own great days. To Corporal Kelly and all who are fathers, Happy Father's Day.
Thanks for that corporal. I have always held the same mind set on the tactical gray man malarkey. I was doing a job near an air base once. The thunder birds flew in for a weekend air show. The tower must have authorized a low altitude fly over. When it went over it dawned on me, anyone thinking your gonna rise up and fight the powers that be, well let's just say I would advise against it. Thanks for the info I have enjoyed your channel and hope to continue to do so.
And make sure you are not using paracord with a reflective part to it. Also check piping on packs for same. Set up your system at dark and check it with a flashlight. Lots of gear has reflective strips you can't see in the light of day.
And here I am wearing my gray long sleeved Corporals Corner shirt while listening to Shawn talk about the gray man. How fitting. Happy Father's Day, gentlemen. Thanks for another great video Shawn. I really liked this one.
The fact that people took the concept of the 'grey man' and put a hard archetype of what that person would look like versus understanding that it simply means to blend in (A in survival, act like the natives), screams to the lack of common sense the average person has in 2023
Like your way of thinking, Corporal! Great explanation of stealth camping. We use to Sport camo pants back in the Rambo era. Of course i was raised in Central MO. Enjoy your educational videos and all content you provide! Thanks brother!
That Lite Sleeper looks bad ass. I wish I had something like that when I was in the Army. I enjoyed the video and the stealth camping. Very practical and can be used whenever. Awesome job Cpl Kelly. Outstanding AF as always. Two thumbs up!!
I love my woobies!!! I keep one in the truck at all times and one in my kit during warm months!! I need an extra poncho or two though. I may look into the system you just showcased, looks interesting to be sure. Just got my original patches in (thanks for FAST shipping by the way) now I guess I gotta get the new one too lol. Great video and and I prefer “stealth camping” over anything else. Thanks for another awesome video sir!!
Greetings Corporals. One question I always have is how to avoid spiders and other crawling creatures when sleeping on the ground or without a tent. Thank you and God bless.
One thing I would add is listen for the things that should be there but are not. EG birds or frogs going quiet. That is always a good sign that something big and quiet is on the move.
Awesome Video, I 100% agree with you on gray man concept however if you look at the definition of gray man (or blending in) is based on your location as you stated east coast camo in town and a store no one gives it a second thought. So, in essence that is the gray man concept. Second, I took my military poncho liner and added a 100-inch zipper to make a light weight sleeping bag, works great.
Early in your video, you defined stealth camping as not being seen. I suggest changing that to “not being detected”. Stealth should guard against all methods of detection. Sight, hearing, and smell. Even being “sensed” by someone alert enough to realize that something is different. I don’t try to hide, but I do prefer to not have neighbors. Though sometimes they have been beneficial, the odds don’t run in that direction. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
Question, while sleeping on the ground, how do you keep the spiders, chiggers, ticks, and snakes off your body? Crawling and moving thru the brush is a recipe for poison ivy, and assorted insect bites. Also, don't forget wild dogs that roam in packs looking for a meal ???

Morning Cpl
Steve is the best ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Corp! I'm thinking about mosquito nets for this summer.
Thermocel
Happy Father’s Day! Thanks for the shout out and the tips!
King of stealth camp!
Happy Fathers Day Steve, I'm a province over.
It's not Sunday until the Corporal posts!!
Monday for me. 😁
@@BlackshacksBushcraft ...me too 👍🏻
Amen to that!! It's the first thing I watch when I turn on the TV. It's my Church Service! I can say that because I'm ordained! Lol!
Steve is such a laid-back guy. He provides fun content as well as some really good ideas for staying unseen by ordinary people. I watch The Corporal for more serious details and ideas but still entertaining in different ways. I heartily recommend both! I do wish someone would do a demo on light sources.
Thanks for giving Steve a shout out.
Steve Wallis makes it fun while showing you how to stealth camp anywhere. Love me some camping with Steve. He's the most recognized for a reason.
Only found camping with Steve recently love his stealth camping videos. There was one really funny one playing fake construction noises all night😂
On the notion of sounds. If you hear sounds of birds and frogs around your area then it stops something new has come into the area be on alert. Once the animals around you get use to you they will go back to they normal activity, when something new comes into the area they will stop and be on alert.
That’s exactly why I loved solo camping.
Big thumbs up for the shout out to Steve. Best stealth camping content online, and an excellent human being.
I just wanna say I appreciate how you've just kept quality content pumping out year after year. You don't make it political, I've never had the sense anyone would feel uncomfortable watching your videos. They're just informational, entertaining and calming. Coming back to these videos over the years feels like visiting a cool uncle.
You and Steve Wallis the only 2 i watch religiously. Id love to see a collab with the 2 of you!
I watch Steve Wallis and the Corporal, the best of both worlds!
Corporal giving Steve an acknowledgement while putting tacticool in their place. Why I love this channel! Thank you for keeping it real and knowledgeable!
Happy Father's day to the Corporal and all the Dads out there in internet land.
With the grey man principle, it's basically like any other camouflage. Dressed green in the desert, you will stand out....
Love the Camping with Steve shout out. You guys should do a collaboration sometime
Second best part of Sunday, right after church!!!
Sunday mornings drinking coffee and watching the corporal are some of my favs!
Steve Wallis is a Legend, love watching both of you guy's.
We love Camping with Steve Wallis! Been following him for years. Great video ! The blanket with sleeping pad pocket is a great invention.
Love the shout out to Steve Wallis he’s one of my favorites

I think this is the best one of your stealth videos yet. Always outdoing yourself, always outstanding AF.
Gray man means fitting in to your surroundings.
I.e., at Eagles football game, wear Eagles jersey. That person is the gray man.
Wear a Dallas Cowboys jersey and it becomes a target.
Thank-you for posting a little earlier! My online church service starts at 10:30 so this works out perfectly for me! 👍🏼
Love the Steve Wallis respect.
Happy Father's Day.
Enjoyed the latest offering with a good cigar.
I say again, the world needs a Corporal's Corner/Camping with Steve collaboration.
Sunday corporals corner, Thursdays camping with steve and every few weeks ABCamping with Tony and Bruno 🤙🏼🙏🏻
Happy Father's day, Cpl. I hope it makes you happy to know that I teach my daughters the things I've learned from you here!
Steve Wallis is my favorite. He's not trying to be anything other than a guy camping. None of the hipster Bush craft b.s.
100 percent spot on on the gray man discussion. In my area, camo is the most common, cultural thing to wear. Nice I like that he showed Steve Wallis some respect and a shout out. Corporal and Steve are my 2 favorite channels!!!!!
Again. The corporal Shows how it is done and gives insights nowhere else to be found. Thank you sir!
Awesome video as always! The way you managed the boil water to cook... simply great.
Thanks!
Happy Father's Day and thank you for the Great Father's Day Video!! I loved the fact that you put out the part about blending into your surroundings both in and out of the woods. That time of the week again! Let’s do this!
Excellent, a shout out to Steve Wallis, love his videos! Been watching him for some years now and I’m pretty sure the algorithm from that led me here and I subscribed.
I think it led me from Corporal's Corner to Steve's. They're both giving information that is unique.
The Sunday drop has arrived!
Built a stealth camp once. Went a ways away to fish for dinner. Had a hell of a time trying to find my camp again.
I can never say enough great things about your videos it's such as an educational process you get out nature and all your problems seem to go away
Before camping like that, i would spray permethrin on all surfaces of all my gear and clothing. And then take further steps to guard against ticks.

Glad you mentioned Steve. I love watching him stealth camp.
Militia with air support. 😂
I wish more people realized they wouldn’t stand a chance. Done before they start.
I agree. Being unnoticed is both the area, and what the environment is.
Stealth camping in a drive in hotel is fun.
Making a shelter under the bed covers and using a sleep lite bed roll inside that shelter...

Thank you for the video Cpl. Kelly.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
now to the awesome AF video.
Just ordered it, Shawn. Great video, dude! Carry on Corporal!
Out of all my YT subscriptions this is absolutely my most favorite channel because it gives so much actionable information!!!!
Another awesome vid. Gotta have the woobie...
Wishing you a Happy Fathers Day and got to say “light & noise discipline” is what will keep you alive and feed
I always thought “Gray man” meant dressing “like the locals”, NOT standing out.
Happy fathers day corp.this is your day and all fathers💕💕
My take on the "Gray Man" has always been dress as the locals would dress in whatever part of the country you are in or even to be more specific dress as the locals of the town or city or even neighborhood (hood) your in...Basically what you are saying.

Hunker Down!
...and a Step 2.
Clothing comment was spot on. In the low country of SC it's common place!
Love the Steve shout-out!

Thank you! Corporal for posting.I always learn something.

Been watching Steve Wallis longer than Corporal. This channel was a suggestion while watching the other. Both are great, yet different.
Outstanding. A master class from the Corporal👍
Green man isn't about strictly wearing jeans and non tactical gear it's about blending into whatever the rest of the people around you are wearing. So you in fact are practicing gray man by wearing what is common around you.
I'm from Alabama and you're absolutely right.
Lots of hunters in the south wear camo all year round.
Grey man is about blending in to the area you are in.
I love camping with Steve (all about the step 2)
CAMPING WITH STEVE!!!!
Hey Corp Happy Fathers Day! Would love an update on how medium sized dude is doing! Great find on the sleeping bag too!❤
That would be interesting you and Steve Wallis stealth camping
Good morning everyone and happy Father's day i see another outstanding camping and keep up the good work corporal and happy fathers day
"it's a stealth camp"
😂
good thing the reality of stealth camping was explained in the video
@MrCorporalsCorner would love to talk…. What is you availability….
Egg and cheese Biscuit , oh yeah.
Brilliant as ever corporal. Always look forward to your videos.
Would you be prepared to send your patches to the UK?
As always outstanding AF! Stealth camping 101! Ready for the next.
Dress for the occasion, to fit in. (Even if you have to wear your hat backwards. Ugh) 😏

For me stealth camping is about keeping my privacy and also improving my chances of seeing the fauna in its natural behavior.
You should make a video on how to hide from AI in the woods. How to avoid a heat signature from a thermal sights. Things like that.

Question, while sleeping on the ground, how do you keep the spiders, chiggers, ticks, and snakes off your body? Crawling and moving thru the brush is a recipe for poison ivy, and assorted insect bites. Also, don't forget wild dogs that roam in packs looking for a meal ???
