I like how the Western names were from all over Europe, not just common in English. It was such a dirty move to add Irish names into there LOL!
There were some from US as well as i could recognize them. But maybe, they were originated from Europe, that's why..
I was proud of them pronouncing irish names, my people XD
@@kritishrestha7471 One wasn't even Western, but middle eastern. But, a lot of Bible names are super common in Europe and North America, so it's easy for people to call them Western names, even though their origin isn't western.
@@barbaro267 i agree.
I have an Irish name and sometimes people pronounce my name wrong, but damn were those names were 10x harder lmao
"It is still a gorgeous name of someone"
🥺🥺 why so sweet🥺 🧊
That’s why I like watching these, Koreans seem very thoughtful, something that is lacking here lately so I get my fix of thoughtfulness from the good people of awesome world:) like and subscribe, lol
Edit: don’t forget the bell for notifications 🤣
@@roostercogburn3154 😂😂
That was very considerate of Young Jung. Very nice Young man. (Sorry I had to make the joke.)
And that’s my middle name 🥺
@@bree-mi7sj awww it's very pretty!
Normal level :American names
Tricky level: french
Ultimate level: irish
Yeah I'm french and I felt really dumb not knowing the irish names lol
@@spiritualsnail1584 Im pretty sure its in Gaelic. Not that many Gealic speakers around anymore. So you should't fell to bad about it :)
Boss Level: African names
Not to mention the spelling and accent. As a Jackaboy fan, we don't understand him sometimes 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then come Russian names
Phonetic pronunciation: *exists*
Ireland: I’m about to ruin this mans whole career.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA shit have you ever heard a brazilian from the country side of Minas Gerais? It's something like the Irish
Actually the Irish language is phonetic... that’s where these names come from. If you know how things are pronounced I. The Irish language you can pronounce all of those names. Keep in mind the English language is anything but phonetic though
HeeJae: "Why? Why do they write like this?" sounding angry.
YoungJung: " It is also a gorgeous name of someone" stoppp hes so nice and sweet im gonna die.
Irish is actually a lot more phonetically consistent than English.
@@chiprahn Yeah, it makes sense if you know the rules.
HeeJae: "Why? Why do they write like this?" sounding angry.
YoungJung: " It is also a gorgeous name of someone" stoppp hes so nice and sweet im gonna die.
That was so sweet to think of, aww!
Yeah, that was sweet (and funny lol) that he kept saying that
Also, I love your username. I remember when everyone was freaking out about the way San said "purple" to the point that even he knew about it and did it again to tease everyone 😂🤣🤣

Wow i see an atiny here!
Anyone else fail this and they're westerners???🤷♂️😂
I'm southern

Western is a pretty wide group though, like Saoirse is irish origin which is an entirely different language from english.
My name is Øyvind which isn't exactly going to be pronouncable for anyone who isn't scandinavian.

Hahahahahahaha 💜
Me too🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

A lot of these were Irish names. “Western” doesn’t just mean American. If it was American there would be a whole lot of -lynn and -ley names.
Irish, Spanish, a couple of Bulgarian/Slavic names. Interestingly, no German and French ones (as far as I noticed) and the latter are particularly notorious with their spelling. Maybe a part 2 is coming?
Exactly
For Asian, West People are for White People, they can from America or Europe 😀
@@amadeusavogadro3419 it doesn’t matter. This should be made clear so they can learn about it just like we as westerners should understand Asian specific differences 👍🏻
well irish is still western to me
Me: *a westerner*
Also me: *saying the names out loud trying to pronounce them* lmao
same i try so hard
Samee but my brother looked at me weird cuz I was struggling to say some😂😂

Young jung looks like an Eric to me.
I was thinking of the same thing !
'Erik' feels more right for him somehow 🤔
@@ChocolateFantasies i was thinking either would work
Idk he looks like a Michael
But eric is quite common
She looks like a “Willow” to me.
I love how HeeJae got increasingly angrier towards the end of the video. That is basically me when I was trying to learn English and having all these rules that are rules but not rules.
Your first mistake, was assuming English had rules and didn't just do whatever the hell it wanted.
As someone with a degree in English, I can confidently say that they set you up with some of those names. 😂😂
Most of them ain't English names tho
@@ididntgetthejoke3587 yeah I’m aware.
Starting out with Saoirse is MEAN. PD-nim should be ashamed 😅
Also it should be explained the name is Irish, but comes from Celtic and that's why the spelling is insane with modern vowel sounds.
@@flinx Like a lot of the names in the video, really. I think many are difficult even for native English speakers
@blowing trees u have smaller mind than small letter itself😊😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰
how to pronounce ur name tho 😂
@@user-gx9go2ne1m 니네리네 I guess 😂
He's so considerate he's like "Calm down. That's somebody's name..."
"None of the spelling is pronounced" yes welcome to the English language... it doesn't make sense
Can we talk about the French language ? 😅
A lot of those names were not English tho...
It's more the Celtic languages that had the roman alphabet forced on them. Look at Welsh.
@@mariem.117 thats too far past my mental copasicty to even mention them

Heejae's name should be Lily... I dont know why but that the first name that came in my mind while looking at her ❤️❤️😍

Maybe she can be Lily Leigh😂💕
@@hijaejae4006 hi
my name is Lily haha it totally should be Lily!!!!!! I want to see HeeJae one day in the U.S just going around saying im Lily Lee haha!
Heejae coming for the people who wrote it like that is a BIG MOOD
imagine doing this with African names lmao. like mine
What's the pronunciation of your name?
lmao they shouldn't even try it bruh they will end up saying another word that is not even close to the name
The good thing about most African names tho is that most of the letters are pronounced! At least in Swahili... but ig the length might make that advantage not helpful enough haha
I was just thinking that😭my name is so difficult
@@catafer i honestly don't know how to tell you just pronounce all the letters but 'e' is pronounced as an like 'é' so just say every letter 😂. People tend to overthink it as well
Saoirse is Irish, Americans can’t pronounce it unless they’ve heard Saoirse Rhonan’s song
Saoirse, aoife and sinead are all Irish names and the name Lachlan is a Scottish version of the Irish name Lochlainn
I dont think thats just Americans tho. If you dont understand the spelling, you're basically just guessing. Just like Danish grammar with our overkill amount of silent d's and g's
I'm American and I understand it just fine without knowing who you're talking about... and that's just because I love names and languages. So maybe don't generalize ;)
I only know a Saoirse and she’s an actress. Don’t remember her last name but I think it’s very similar to “Rhonan” too
Seriously...
It was hard for me to pronounce as well... Anyone with the same problem 😂
I’ve never even heard of some of these names.
I’m American and have never heard a lot of these
The first one still baffles me
I'm literally from England and I knew how to pronounce all of these 😐

I think their biggest hurdle was thinking the “western names” all had English roots. Just because they use the same/similar letters doesn’t mean they all have the same roots. Maybe they would have done better if they had the root language too? 🤷🏻♀️ That said, those are some of the most difficult for even westerners to figure out without previous knowledge of how to pronounce it.
JAKE: Nikolage
BOYLE: It's Nikolaj
Love the Brooklyn Nine Nine reference!
I feel like your PD played a trick on you. Most of those difficult names are Irish names that even this native English speaker would find difficult to pronounce. But it was cute seeing you try. Young Jung was so cute when he interrupted HeeJae when she was talking about the name Aoife. He seems like a real sweetheart. Also I suggest the name Austin for Young Jung. Austin is a cool name and he definitely looks cool. 👍👍 Also HeeJae said her English name is Julia - which is very pretty but I can also see her as a Holly. She has a very peppy personality.
YoungJung: Jackson
HeeJae: Hannah
I also thought Jackson!!
thank you🥰😘
I think Hannah fits her very well :)
I thought of Jackson too!
Jackson or Jack
I kinda feel like Aiden is suitable for YoungJung!!
Ikr!
@@markimarkitup oh yeah..
@@markimarkitup yes he does
Maybe an Owen
I always find it funny when people speak in english "Joaquín" since in english you can't really find the exact equivalent to the "j" pronunciation. (I'm Argentinean by the way)
Same with Juan or Jesus and other names, English speakers have no choice but to pronounce it correctly. A lot of people in the USA are familiar with those names by now too since we have a large Hispanic population now.
@@ThatKidIan4 bruh some pronounce the j as an h, i'm confused
@@user-sg4ov7ng4h that is how J’s are pronounced in Spanish...
@@ThatKidIan4 i was gonna say...
@@ThatKidIan4 no ,thats not right, its 'kh' not 'h'. but i think h is closest thing to "kh" in english
They should have thrown in some Icelandic names to mess with them lol
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
They were messed with enough! That would have been so much worse!!! 😂😂😂
Because the Celtic wasn't difficult enough. Lawd. :snicker:
Throw in some of the complex Native American in there too
throw in some names that are both western and korean like Mina lol
YoungJung feels like a 'Julian'
HeeJae feels like a 'Leah'
Yeah, and she should spell it Leigh.
I agree with Leah
Julian looks so nice
DEFINITELY
YoungJung- how about Marcus for a name?
And for HeeJae- Ashley or Ashleigh if she wants to keep the Leigh 😆 But really Ashley would be good 👍
"Western names" Is very broad and come from so many different languages and backgrounds that it makes since that they struggled. I struggled with a few of them.
He looked so proud when he got Joaquin😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️
Me being an Irish person feeling like I always have to defend the spelling of our names😪 you find them hard to pronounce because they’re in the Irish language. Those names are phonetic believe it or not, but they don’t follow rules from the English language.
1/2 Scot 1/2 Irish here and I'm also always defending Irish and Scottish pronunciations 😂
You're defending it wrong. The problem is not 'Irish pronunciation (of names or otherwise) is not phonetic' but 'Irish phonetics don't make sense' .Your biggest problem is your "a" is "e" for everywhere else in the world, but there are more shenanigans. That's just become weird throughout history and there's no defense.
Thank you! As my name is Aoife I get so sick of ignorant people thinking every language has to follow English pronunciation rules. So many European languages, people need to educate themselves :/
Heejae: Lily, Callie, Ava, Avery
Youngjung: Charlie, Noah, Chase, Hunter
Ooo Noah sounds good 👌
Hunter and ava suits the best
All these Irish and Welsh names really messing with them😂
I was gonna say. Some of these are incredibly rare.
Phoebe is Greek from what i recall
Which ones were Welsh haha

Young-jung: Justin
Hee-jae: Hannah
Justin is kind of a common name and Young-Jung specifically said no common names. But I do like the name Hannah!
This reminds me of 13 reasons why lol

The Spanish names are easier, you read them as they're spelled and the vowels don't change the sound.
Young Jung name would be Lucas.
Yeah but they don’t know the pronunciation of J or R or Q
I feel like that's one of the reasons why Koreans can learn Spanish easily, it is the same with the Korean language
@@edurneelurreta5087 in portuguese Joaquin isn't spelled as in french or spanish or italian, its a name common in the latin-derived languages as maria, josé, marta, ana and so on. I would like them trying mine (Priscilla) which changes the spelling in every language hahahaha I love latin-derived languages
Same with the Irish language. The names aren’t hard to pronounce if you know how the Irish language works
True, but you have to know how spanish letters are pronounced and they def don’t know that lol

Yeah, they used a ton of Irish names that even Americans aren’t so familiar with...
As someone with a French name that gets mispronounced by everyone, the struggle is real. But, giving them Irish and Welsh names is setting them up for failure, even most Westerners don't know the rules to Irish pronunciation. They are such good sports!
Also the Irish names aren’t English so it’s silly to put them in as Koreans aren’t learning the Irish language (phonics)
