I'm just honestly impressed that everyone knows where Wyoming is.
Eric Borja which is weird cause it doesn’t exist
I’m American and I didn’t even know where Wyoming was and these people that labeled like 80% of the map incorrectly somehow knew it. Crazy
Well it does have one of the most famous national parks (including an active super volcano that could end the world)
@@jacobhargiss3839 Yeah it's funny seing what they named right away. Wyoming for Yellowstone. Nevada for Las Vegas.California, Texas, and Florida. Then like New Mexico? Presumably Breaking Bad?
@@BrianKervick I hadnt thought about new mexico.
Dude: Alaska....hmm somewhere in the middle...
Americans: *intense staring at Alaska*
No americans have no idea
Yeah, plz. I remember the Ukraine controversy. Americans thought it was somewhere around Canada. American's have no idea where shit is.
Zero Well Alaska is near Canada. That’s why on the map they put it in a box below USA because it doesn’t properly connect with the rest of USA.
Edit: Wait sorry you’re on about Ukraine I thought you were on about Alaska. Yeah Ukraine is definitely not in Canada, it is in Europe. I’m a Brit though not an American so me knowing where Ukraine is is irrelevant. Just wanted to say sorry for getting at you when you were on about something else lol
@@pumpkingamebox Why would Americans need to know where Ukraine is? Most videos i've seen even British people dont know where Ukraine is.
@@azulaquaza4916 It's just a google search away, or just say you don't know.
I for one know the general location of all the countries. (And I came to this knowledge definitely NOT by watching Yokko's world 20 times a day looking at different Covid-19 versions. lol)
They should do this UK v. US. See how many in the US can actually label our country.
I can potentially tell you were London is. Maybe. If I'm lucky 🙃
UK would win. The American school system tells us our states plus capitals, and it tells us some other countries’ capitals, and other countries’ placements sometimes, but with one specific country like the UK, we don’t go in depth. Also, there isn’t a chance of Americans doing the work on their own since we already hate our schools, so we don’t like learning other things because it reminds us of our grade-oriented learning structures.
@@jayjaygaming8625 True! My school teaches nothing about geography from outside the US and when they do it’s super bias, if that makes sense.
I would love pick counties in the UK. I think I would do well
Depends on what you’re wanting? If it’s cities, I could name about 3. But if it’s regions, I could likely do more than 2/3rds of them
I’m actually impressed, and the fact that Buzzfeed did not bother to provide a more geographically correct map (Alaska and Hawaii in their actual places), and more complete map (with Canada and Mexico at least for reference).
Hmmm....
Yeah that confused them. Otherwise they would have easily gotten Alaska I think.
Most United States maps have Hawaii and Alaska in the bottom-left corner. It's not geographically incorrect considering they're separated by huge lines from the continental US.
Considering just how far away Hawaii is, they'd have a much smaller area to write all the names in.
Drag them, then, Sis! Ms. Karina said, “well damn, y’all could have given them a fighting chance!” 😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I agree, they should have made the mainland US be really tiny at the far right side of the map, and had Hawaii be nearly invisible at the bottom-left corner.
"But isn't Mexico next to California?"
"Mexico is not part of America."
Mexico is part of the american continent😂
@@lulilo2551 True.

Lau Lo it’s part of North America AMERICA is both of the continent

*Proceeds to label Alaska*
To be frank, the two states appearing out of place and with different scale is confusing.

as a fellow brit im proud to say i can get all 50 cause i bloody love my geography and i can name the capital for each state aswell! so entertaining to learn
Ok that’s impressive. I know every European country but capitals I’m like 95% on. Just a few odd balls like north macedonia that ruin my perfect score.

Honestly, as an European I haven't got much problems with placing some of the states, located in the west or in the middle, but I'm always confused when it comes to name an label all those small(sometimes tiny - relatively :) ) ones, which are part of the New England and are located in the east and north-eastern coast. Besides that I'm glad that I know where Florida, Texas and California are along with the fact, that Chicago lies in the state of Illinois :)
Was I the only one sweating when they were tryna find Alaska and were looking at the *top* of the map?
Washington State is just Alaska 1.0 tbh. So they weren't wrong... But this is a stretch.

@Rose Anne Boushard i get what u mean and there's nothing wrong with using those descriptions but it felt more right for me lol (just coz i know that i wouldn't want any one describing that way).
Günther Jauch what’s wrong with being described as a black girl...if someone’s a black girl? as if being called black (which is what she is and she’s probably proud??) is negative? I don’t know if you’re just ignorant or you realise what you’re actually saying. This is the same as saying ‘I don’t see skin colour’ as if accepting and ‘seeing’ someone’s skin colour is bad lmao
Rose Anne Boushard I think it’s because she described the guy by his hair so it made sense to her to do the same when describing the girl
The guy with black hair with glasses and the girl with black hair were terrible

Honestly if I was given a map of England I wouldn’t even be able to label London so they did pretty good
the thing is in America they normally ( from what i have heard ) really only learn about America and where everything is there. But i hate geography so i’m not that good at pointing out places
edit: hopefully that makes sense
@@sacha352 hi I’m American and we are taught world geography. Especially European geography. However it’s hard to keep them all straight when your own country has so many places to remember.
@@sacha352 I’m American. We have World Geography but we really only learned where the countries are on a map. We never really learned about the individual cities, towns, and counties of those countries. So I can point out England on a map but I couldn’t point out London. It’s embarrassing lol
@@sacha352 also responding as an American because I think the comparison across experiences is super interesting (so much variation in education standards). We studied world geography and learned all countries, capitols, major landmarks, etc. However, our schools spent very little time teaching internal American geography under the assumption that we probably already knew it well enough to pass tests. And generally they were correct, I think inter-state geography is very intuitive to a lot of Americans because of how easy and frequent travel between states is. However, I feel that labeling regions within a country/state like the UK isn't necessarily the best comparison to how well we are taught global concepts given the level of detail involved in memorizing territories for every nation. I think maybe a better comparison might be that we spent a bit of time memorizing Canadian providences and Mexican States but never Chinese provinces or Indian states, emphasizing the tendency of curriculums to stress focus on learning regions closer to the US. It's unfortunate, but also practical I suppose.
I only know four bits of geography about the United States. The West is full of hipsters, the South is full of racists, the East is EYYYYY I'M WALKING HERE and the rest doesn't exist.

The amount of times they thought the "north" state was under the "south" state was unsettling.
Maybe that was what the whole “North fought the South” was about! We realized we had all the directions names turned around and had to shuffle the states (and a few territories, god, we almost lost the Dakotas during that maneuver) around.
Speaking of north and south and the dakotas, north dakota technically wasnt a state until 2008 because to be a state you have the full constitution in your state laws or whatever and north dakota was missing a sentence somewhere in there. Would have been more interesting to see them doing the challenge individually. 2 people struggling to place Florida, California, Alaska, Hawaii and New York on a map is really not brilliant. Especially considering they are journalists.
you have to bear in mind that we don’t learn about the american states and everything here is british common knowledge, it all depends on your upbringing. the british education system is flawed i’ll admit, but we learn more about countries and weather/geology? יעקב

I'm Austrian (not Australian) and we only learned the number of states and how giant the United States is and how many people live there.
We didn't learn their names, their location.
We didn't even learn about major historicic events in the United States like the American Revolution, the Civil War, or the Civil Rights Movement (important things) or things in this millennium ( 9/11 or the demonstrations in Charlottesville).
Our school system just doesn't bother to learn about the U.S. because it isn't that important to us, I guess. (But we stuck with Nazis for over four months.)
I know all fifty states and their location, but I learned that in my personal time.
I find it interesting that they got Wyoming almost immediately, without even knowing what was around it. Wyoming is one of the last ones most Americans fill in, by process of elimination, and some people even get it mixed up with Colorado.

@@Xarosy yeah but they always go to Mexico either for holiday or there's some mafia or escaping to it or just some action there. So that's my impression of Mexico 😂
Yusur Kassem bro thats like saying france is a place in england, thats disrespectful to our country and our culture. Just cuz you see that in movies doesnt take away your ability to know geography 🤦
@@natelicious_money170don't worry i do actually know where Mexico is😂
All i'm saying is that's the impression i had of it when I was a kid
Sorry if that was offensive i didn't mean it like that. I've seen so many Americans mix up European countries and act as if Europe is one country so it's hilarious to me. But everyone perceives these things differently so sorry if it came off as rude
“Portland, Maine.” Buzzfeed UK: Portland is in Oregon. Well yeah, but there’s also a Portland in Maine.
The difference is, one matters, and the other is in Maine.
@@mind4lease554 that makes it the Maine one
@@sugarmix7778 come on, everyone knows Maine and Idaho don't exist
Wyoming doesn’t exist either. Tho I do have a friend who claims to live in this false state called Idaho
M I think you are mistaken, it’s Wyoming that doesn’t exist.
7:49 Portland is also in Maine
I am glad that I am not the only one who is struggling when it come to labeling the map.
“What’s this in the middle? Middle Carolina?”
People from Iowa: 😐
They put North Dakota (Iowa) Under South Dakota (Minnesota) CRIES IN CORN
When they put alaska as hawaii... that literally broke me
And when they put north Dakota below south
Don’t you Americans put England as the UK?
@Stellen actually Europeans know quit a lot about America
figuratively
@Stellen rather Missouri or Kansas can’t really get it spot on but I mean you guys don’t even know Northern Ireland is a thing never mind in the UK
7:49 There is indeed a Portland in Maine, it is the original and where Portland, Oregon got it's name from
Honestly yall did good
i swear a few of you did better than most americans would have.
No they didn't most Americans have to learn where every state is and what its capital is. Nice job stereotyping though.
@@TWE_2000 Try asking them now. 80 percent will not be able to answer more than 15. I know cause I have asked my friends.
amazing hannure ur friends are kinda dumb
@@iliketurtles1104 I agree, cause they are Americans.
I only know the states that are well known. I don’t know the middle part or the small states at the east coast.
I never took geography btw.
0:53 “Like, who’s gonna know what that is? That’s just a block.”
As a South Dakotan, I would like to say... you’re not wrong and I laughed so hard I started crying
They said new Hampshire was Delaware and my sister lives in south Dakota
Why do Americans think that we live in London tho
@@thebourbonfantasy2457 they dont all think that you live in London I know theres other places I just need to learn about them it's more of a joke that all Brits live in London
True
I feel like in the 1940s when Americans are saying British people are posh
As an American with a pretty big interest in geography, it is fun to watch these types of videos knowing that I could actually do one on Europe if asked.
For the record, I just said Europe because the US and Europe are roughly the same size. I wasn't calling Europe a country.
Yeah, I could go head to head against any average european and win. They're not the intellectual zealots they think they are.
HAHAHAHA i just like how chaos ben and lulu duo, while the others are like here here here...
"Ten minutes it's too much".
*One minute later*
"Kentucky... fried chicken?"
If you look at it close enough the State of Kentucky sort of looks a piece of Fried Chicken, while the state directly north, Tennessee it looks like some kind of platter.
@@suralos yep Kentucky does look like a drumstick, but unless you live in the southern hemisphere I'm pretty sure Tennessee is south of Kentucky. That southern hemisphere part of the comment was sarcasm.
@@earlhollar1906 I should have clarified: Kentucky is the Northern state of the two. Tennessee is the Southern of the two.
Yes.. this is Maryland. Because it looks like a cookie.
Americans: Sure, why not?
🤣
i live in a cookie now-
All states look like cookies if you’re a messy enough baker
I thought she said "it looks like it could be"
Assume that’s because a “Maryland” is a chocolate chip cookie but that was invented in *Whitman, Massachusetts* so WE WERE ROBBED AND I WILL NOT SIT DOWN.
I am impressed some knew where minnesota and wisconsin were
7:46 actually, there is a Portland in Maine, and it is fairly big.
“Mexico is not part of America” the fact that she had to say that 💀

“Oh.”
I laughed really hard at that for some reason 😂

@@neosunrider I think of America as anything bearing the name America i.e. North America, South America, and Central America. America is just colloquialism for the U.S.A. because saying the United States of America is quite the mouthful.
