I watched this video, bought a second hand Okuma wave power, caught a bass within an hour. First try, no experience. Love my new hobby!
Great stuff !
Nice one , just what UA-cam needs, basic lessons for the beginner bass are such mystical fish they have brought me years of joy (and frustration) love them! Please make sure to put them back when possible, and maybe our future fishermen can enjoy them too, Thanks
Thank you Neil
Watched your video and went out and caught my first ever Bass.... Was with a friend which made it very special. I've waited 33 years.... No stopping me now.... Great vid... Keep up the great work...
Thanks Robert I’m really pleased for you , will love to hear about your next one….
This is a brilliant video for a beginner in sea fishing like myself. I bought the equipment you suggested and also the lures. I’m going to Solva, Pembrokeshire on Saturday for a week so will let you know how I get on. Thank you for taking the time to make such a comprehensive video.
Nice another convert ! Please let us all know how it goes Jonathan
Sooo? How it went? Im guessing the first time was not too good? :') dont give up!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips, I m going to fish this Friday in great Yarmouth and going to try lure fishing hoping to get something.! 😁 Looking forward to your next video or any advices you can give, cheers! 👍
Great video. I wish I had watched this when I first started bass fishing in January. It’s been so tough - 24 trips on the South coast of England, and only one bass landed - but now things are warming up I’ve had 3 bites in a week. I love it. My days of sitting behind a rod pod waiting for a carp to find my bait are gone……….
Brilliant video cinematography and narration. Love the lure in front of the camera, then cast out; I wasn't expecting that, so you're giving the video presentation great thought. I've subscribed
Thank you Andrew should be some
More fun videos coming
Great informative video, thanks, I too am thinking of starting to lure fish, I live next door too, in W Sussex and have recently got back into beach sea fishing with bait after a long lay off. This is the first video I've seen of yours, I will be looking through more and hopefully I will have a go in the late spring time ish, after setting up with tackle. Thanks again, Carl
That’s great welcome to the channel Carl , plenty here for the bass lure angler
Revisiting and picked up yet another tip I missed! Caught that 2nd bass that summer and readying to get out again now after an enforced break. Great videos, as always.
Hello mate , yes it’s always worth watching again sometimes. I am working on an update to this video at the moment😉🫡
Just found your UA-cam channel and love it. I've just retired and you've got me fishing again. I live in the states so trying to adapt fishing gear, technics etc. to surf fishing for striped bass over here which get extremely large. Happy fishing to all......
Welcome and thanks for the message Nick. Yes some of the techniques I use have come from learning from striped bass too ! So lots of shared ideas and techniques 👍
Never caught a bass - in my life! So this is really helpful thanks...! Roll on Pt2
👍
Go for it Chris! these are the king of the sea fish for me
What a great video. Helped me so much. Cannot wait for the Bass season to start in North Wales.
Yea ! Bring on the Bass
When it comes to bass I think you are right about colours, I mostly go trolling for bass and its more about the vibration and the movement of the lure that intices the bass to hit the lure the more shaking vibrating of the top of the rod the better the lure, rapala has some great bass lures like husky jerk, x rap, max rap.
Just what I needed. My Abu black Max will get a workout using your help and I’m going to really target my double this year but that may be from the boat
Hi Mark , hope the part 2 will add a few points about how to fish lures I currently have my daughter working on the graphics for that !
Another great video, always a pleasure watching this channel.
Thanks for saying that , just pleased someone’s watching still !
Thoroughly enjoyed it Matt, informative as ever. Going to purchase some lures to give it a bash
As soon as we’re allowed. Keep em coming, cheers mate.
Go for it. yes will do
Lovely instructional there. Looking forward to 2nd part.
Many thanks! its out now
Great vid mate, bloody gagging to start again this season, hooks all replaced, new lures, new braid. Roll on April😀👍
Good man Steve, I think there’s a lot of people thinking the same exciting times ahead I hope
Thanks for the video, this has given me the push to do more bass fishing.👍🏻
They are the best ! Thanks for watching
I’m so ready I’ve just stocked up and have got some of the gravity sticks to give a whirl.. I think I’ve watched all of your bassing videos at least 10 times so I’m ready for what’s to come.. quite possibly a season of disappointment and stress but hoping for a few decent lure caught bass... tight lines 🎣🎣
Thanks , that’s usually when a bass surprises you the moment you think you won’t catch one ! Disappointment and stress is very much part of the game
Hi I live on the Gower and whilst I have fished all my life Coarse sea etc just looking to start seriously spinning for bass so will be documenting places to fish so find these tutorials excellent
Good to hear. Have fished the tower many times but also very long time ago!
Nice video! I Can't wait for Bass luring season to start 🎣
Sure thing Lee it’s going to be on your marks get set go !
Very alluring & I liked your play on "reel", really. Last year had a few attempts, hoping for more this year. Awaiting part2. Many thanks
You have a keen eyes and ears Kevser! Somewhere down the line you won’t drag your heals , I’ve already plugged your tingtax idea I just have to work out if it’s gross or net.
@@SaltwaterAnglerNot much gets past me Aka Miss Marples 2. Tusk tusk, more like dragged my reels & back of the net. Now hurry up get part2 ready for Monday, no more slacked lines or maybe it's a must
Miss marbles! Love it
Please add in your video unhooking techniques and tools and maybe closing two of the barbs on treble hooks or changing to singles, I've lure fished for bass for 25 years and I've seen some heart breaking treatment of these wonderful fish ,and if the newbies to this incredible sport start with the right mindset it's great for all of us, love the channel and your obvious passion👍
Thanks Keith yes that should be covered in round two ! One thing we were talking about the other day was it would help if lure manufacturers offered a single hooked or de barbed version of their lures.
It's actually heartening to see so many newer generation anglers with a more solid attitude towards conservation than when I was younger. The average Joe had a more rough n' ready approach and didn't have a wealth of information at their fingertips. Much better to use a good single barbless, than a mini grappling hook from hell.
Yeah, I’ve fished for bass specifically since my childhood, mostly ledgered bait, but sometimes free lining with live sandeel when I could get them. I’m in my sixties now and want to get into lure fishing. I was shocked when I learned that these beautiful fish can live to 20 or even 30 years and don’t reach breeding maturity until they are about 40cm (slightly less for males). It upset me that fish I was keeping for the pan were probably immature. That was many years ago before I knew anything about size limits (not even sure they were a thing back then). Anyway since I found this out by far the majority of my bass have been returned to the sea. I sincerely hope people stick to the size and number limits these days. Important that new anglers learn about the fish they catch.
Havent even watched it yet and i already know its gonna be great 👍
Ha ha thanks
Thanks man looking forward to getting that bass again great education as always
Thanks for watching
Great video Matt with a good insight on Bass fishing. 👍
Thanks Chris am hoping more insights on the next episode
Nice video ! Im a french angler and i love sea bass fishing !
Thanks for this video mate, I want to give this a try this year. Very helpful indeed.
Glad it was helpful! and cheers for all your comments
Good video. I'm more a bait man myself . I just love to see the bite on the rod tip.
I dont have the patience to cast and retrieve. Hovever i do have LOADS of lures many of which have never seen water. I really must use them!
Ha yes Kerry thanks for watching
I am soon to move to Eastbourne. I will stow my coarse fishing gear and start sea fishing. Some beach, some light lure fishing (this is a great help) and some salt water fly fishing. Thanks for the guidance. I was in Sovereign Harbour a few hours ago and saw your mate readying Lady Margaret.
Nice one ! We’ve got some swff coming up on the channel too Brian, out of season some flys can out fish lures
Informative, relaxing style. Liked it and subbed! Never seen a bass caught up here but will give it a go in the summer. I heard a rumour of a catch, once upon a time...
Thanks for subscribing hope you find some more videos that you like - How far up is up - there’s bass in Scotland 😀
I got my first Bass on an LRF about October time last year. Was about 2-3lbs but it was a massive fight compared to pollack/coleys. It felt like a dog pulling on the end of a bit of rope. I knew I had something special on the line the way it continually pulled on the lines while covering a big bit of ground.
Addictive isn’t it !
Great video, already getting ready for this season come April in North Wales!
Ah thanks delta L where abouts in North Wales 🏴?
thanks for the video, informative and straight to the point !
Cheers Chris
i live in hastings went lure fishing at azue no bass but three prawns and a plaice on a lure strangest two hours ive had.love watching your videos.
Ha that sounds mad ! Thanks for watching Richard
I'm just planning my first day out to fish off the shore well my first day fishing in the sea 😂. This video has been so helpful. Thank you.
Excellent Mick, let us know how it goes
@@SaltwaterAngler Im as Mick, but, i've read and heard that big bass are best fished for when the water is rough and cloudy? At the lighthouse in portland is poop unless there's colour in the water. Been there and saw nothing in the clear, the week before a guy took a 13lber in the rough. Cool vid!
@@Fox7466 As a general rule Rougher overcast weather is good. However Marks are very specific and here our cloudy water isnt as productive so clearer calm Northerlies is preferred. Bass as you know will swim in the rand hunt in the rough stuff. Local knowledge is key. I think an exception might be HUGE fish. They seem to be caught in rough weather.
@@SaltwaterAngler cool. I'm experimenting with my local bay at the mo. My knowledge and what's being said seem to differ and I agree with you.
Just started bass fishing with lures las two weeks really enjoy it watched your videos and was HOOKED 😅
Following your advice caught bass over 55cm , every three days , I’ve caught on two days
Love the surface lures when the bass smash the lure out of the water
by the way fishing off the beach about 35 meters off the shore
Great video can wait for part 2😁🎣
I’ll do my best ASAP
Brilliant stuff mr saltwalter very indepth+informative thank you bud👍
Thanks Mick, and how formal - Mr saltwater I like it 😀 more detail in the next episode , regards, Matt
Thanks matt just makes a nice change👍
Maybe in the next one touch on what to look out for when trying to find a good bass spot? Like rock marks or Sandy beaches etc? Never really tried lure fishing but I’ve been watching your videos and it’s certainly something I’d love to get into. Just bought my first patchinko and a bag of dolive sticks on your recommendation in one of your other videos so all these tips and tricks are very helpful! Thanks mate keep up the uploads they’re great!!
Cheers Alex and thanks for watching, those dolive sticks are very effective at times. Will be mentioning the type of ground bass can be found on in the next one 👍
@@SaltwaterAngler cheers mate very helpful. Also I don’t suppose you’ve been around kent at all for bass? Because I’m down ramsgate area and a bit stuck for where to start🤔 heard good things about Westcliff beach round the rocky parts but who knows... thanks again👍🏽
Love the vid...wets you’re appetite for a bass of the top on lure...
Lockdown blues... all I do is keep buying lures... can’t wait to get off the beach..
A few marks in my sights in E Sussex.....
Tight lines
B
Ha yes I think it could be the best season yet, all cooped up and ready to go !
I used to fish all the time with bait, and then got my m8 into sea fishing. He was introduced to spinning by another friend, and so he taught me about it. Never looked back. My first season was 2019 and had a good run of fish averaging 4lb that year, with 1 going close to 8lb. Unfortunately lockdowns meant no fishing at all for me in 2020, so hopefully can get back out this year. Can't beat that adrenaline rush of seeing a big fish smash a surface lure
Yes surface lure fishing is fantastic ! We will be talking about that in part 2 ! I like the simplicity of picking up a bag and going
@@SaltwaterAngler Looking forward to part 2. Hoping to learn a bit more about what conditions/ground suit which lure type best. Due to the marks I fish being shallow very rough ground, I tend to stick to surface lures and very rarely sub surface lures. I'm yet to try soft plastics, so hopefully your extensive knowledge will help shed some light on it
Cheers again I always learn every year and recently the soft plastics have played a bigger part , so the more I learn the more I realise I need to learn so much more !
Thanks, really helpful, am over in West Sussex
Another great video. I have noticed on all of the bass lure fishing videos that I’ve watched, from so many different channels, is that nobody seems to use buck tail lures. I guess everybody knows what works for them, & with their marks. I know we can’t compare Florida to England but I’ve had a lot of success with the “flair hawk” type lures. A predatory fish, is a predatory fish, where ever you fish. I’m very interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks again. I’m just about to watch part two.
Yes , thanks I have some will give it a go.Here in the uk we can definitely learn from your fishing. Thanks will give these a good do and report back. Many thanks and as you say a predatory fish is a predatory fish ….
Part 1 and 2 so helpful thank you 🎣👌
I’ve subscribed aswell
That’s good to know thanks Dave , some more lure fishing goodness coming soon
very informative , bring on part 2. cheers
I’m on it Eric , thanks for watching.
Very informative and I'm looking forward to part 2.
I've been fishing for bass like this for a few years but Im always interested in hearing about it from another anglers point of view as I can only learn from it and so... Catch more bass 😁
Agreed the best anglers I know are always listening and learning from other anglers
Should have been a school teacher for bass fishing 😀😀.really good upload, kind regards Mike, Norfolk.
Love it can’t wait to get out ❤️❤️🎣🎣
Really not long now
Perfect timing... Just bought my first spinning reel from information I've seen on your previous videos and the braid for it and my first spinning rod are currently in the post lol.... Any more tips you post between now and lockdown being lifted are gratfully received
Sure thing Steve- hopefully the second episode will help, glad your all set let’s hope an end to lockdown soon
Great video. Lots of useful info.
Thanks Kerry
Many thanks .Very informative .
Thank you John ,hopefully some more coming
Some of those treble hook combinations are brutal, a deep hooked or multi hooked fish has no chance of surviving after release. I would appeal to all anglers to change these hooks to inline singles.
This is addressed in the next episode , where we discuss barbed and circle hooks. It certainly an issue
Grow up
Can't speak for lure caught bass , but those i catch on bait are always without exception lip hooked. Thats why i always stand or sit by the rod. You have seconds to react or bass will spit it out . Obviously i am using single but needle sharp hooks!
i plan on eating my seabass
Leader definitely outside rod tip for me great content👌👌👌👌
Hi mark Yea I think with a 9ft rod I can just about cast 4ft leader without it being too long. The rod rings are just too tiny on most rods arnt they.
Depends on length of rod I usually go with 3ft fluorocarbon seaguar 18lb costly at €23 for 50 metres I suppose you pay for quality.
What an informative video loved it to bits when's the next one coming
More lure fishing videos coming
Really useful video, thanks.
Cheers Wayne
Good one thanks Matt! Useful info as always. Those spool line clips make my poop itch! Not found one yet that the line stays in - put your reel away in a case and the next time you use it, it has created its own mini bird's nest! Stay safe & well - Dave. 👍👍
His Dave , they work fine with braid but the leader never stays ! I’ll use a hair band
@@SaltwaterAngler I can't get on with Braid at all. 25Lb mono + 60Lb leader for F/S beach reels. I got hold of a motorcycle inner tube and cut some 20mm wide bands from it - ideal to put over reel spools! 👍👍
Great video, can't wait for part 2. I'm looking forward to some lure fishing on the Gower coast, S. Wales in the summer. Can anyone give me some good marks to try please.
Thanks David can Anyone help David out..... I fished there a handful of times but not for 20years
Thanks man from Ireland so hope to get out soon for the second time 😊
Greetings Brian where in Ireland do you fish ?
I was in wexford last year but hoping to go down maybe Mayo or sligo God willing I'm in cavan town so it's about away love the pike fishing here but need some thing different 😉
Hi. Loved the video. Definitely made me want to go try it. Unfortunately, we only have very shallow beaches near me, so will have to do some research. Maybe pier fish.
Look forward to part 2.
👍👌👏😷. Stay safe.
Thanks Ian , don’t discount those shallow venues particularly at dusk dawn and even night
@@SaltwaterAngler Will have to give it a go, after lockdown.
Only way to find out.
I know they can be caught on bait from pier, but never seen anyone using lures. Caught from beach on bait at distance, too far probably to cast a lure.
Will still give it a go.
Thanks for replying and advice.
👍👏👌😷. Stay safe
Cheers Ian , thinking something like a black minnow might produce from the pier
@@SaltwaterAngler Thank you for that advice. Will try that. Can't wait now.
Sorry to be a pain, but could you recommend a length/weight? I fish mainly the Tees Bay. 👍😷.
Looking forward to part two, will you discuss rods in part two? Looking forward to getting out on the rocks later this year.
Cheers, Neale.
Yes but I also looked at those in a previous video too.
Excellent video. I shall put a few hours aside and scour Google Earth looking for that sheltered reef! 😉
It’s out there somewhere .....
Without a doubt a orange/red belly shiny gold middle and black top lure will out fish any other lure along the shallow solent beaches. For me colour does make a difference
Colour yes and pattern but profile and position vital. Intricate pAtterns less so I think. Cheers Ian, that Solent also holds some massive bass too !
going out at 4am tomorrow before work for a few hours i hope its worth it lol, only been out twice in many years absence lure fishing and I've caught school bass on both occasions, at dusk. got 3 bass fishing a new top water lure which is the one i'm hoping to get a nice size bass on in the morning. wish me luck
I will wish you luck- let us know how it goes jack
Colour choice makes a massive difference in my opinion.. last season i use the launceR for 80% of my surface fishing the Mullet Bora colour slayed them where as the mackerel..white and ayu colours didn’t do so well..As the years go bye my lure collection is becoming smaller and smaller With each season that passes as you will learn what the bass are after..If I had to fish with two lures for a whole season it would be a feed shallow 128 mullet n a patchinko 125 500g.. don’t be fooled like I was by all the tackle companies selling shiny new lures in sexy looking colours because 90% of the time they won’t work🤙🏼
Well where’s the fun in that ! It’s really hard to incorporate all the variables in to why a bass takes. For instance I have a bias towards the lures that caught the one off bigger fish, but it may of been the way I retrieved or the any number of other reasons. I think as with most things the more experienced one gets the more refined and minimal our choices. I also don’t do well with white overall but had an awesome session once where they only took white !
I’ll be trialing some more theory’s this year about colour , I’m not sure at night if small changes matter just dark, light and middle of spectrum maybe ? Thanks for your input 👏
10/10 once again super vid,
Thanks for saying that James
Looking forward to the next one, I have never had a bass , so difficult. I have dropped lure in front of bass he didn't even looked at it loll
Sorry to hear that, they wont always be chasing bait fish
I've had big bass follow the lure but not go for it.
Great video
Has anyone ever told you, you sound exactly like a youtuber called "kickingmustang" or otger way around haha, thanks for these tips brother, all the best from across the pond in dublin.
Lol I looked them up and I’m far more
Masculine 🤣
Great video hoping to start this year can't wait to start. How do you avoid snagging? Any advice for casting?
Hope to see part two keep up the good work keep safe
Thanks Niall , those points will be in the next part , I’ll put in a hit on casting too , thanks for the reminders
Another great video, well done. I agree with your comments regarding the different colour/patterns catching more anglers than fish 😂 however, I’ve caught good Bass in complete darkness so the Bass are obviously using other senses to locate their pray. Interesting subject.
The other piece to the puzzle at night is the moon providing enough light for the silhouette maybe. Night fishing definitely less crucial on colour
@@SaltwaterAngler first time I fished at night I used a needle fish lure, caught a 4lb and a 5lb, also the Albie Snax at night this time 4lb no moon on both occasions. Not my skill I hasten to add....I was being guided at the time. Interesting topic. I’m retired now so moving to Devon to see if I can locate a double...well I can dream 🤣
Yes the needlefish is my go to plastic for night fishing, I will be using those a lot more.
Enjoy your Devon retirement
Hey there I’m new to fishing and really enjoy your videos, really informative and enjoyable. I want to try some bass fishing off the rocks and was wondering, I’ve got a 18lb braided line, should the fluorocarbon leader be a stronger or weaker strength. There’s so much conflicting info out there it’s hard to know what’s best, obviously it’s probably a matter of opinion too haha. Thanks.
Within a few lb breaking strain works for me.
Nice one,keep going 👍🏻
Thank you, I will
5:20 if you have issue with the knot going thru the guides just use a FG knot. Problem solved! Great videos keep up going ;-)
Good tip! yes i use an fg knot but for me a little bit tricky on the rocks to tie a good one. Good tip thanks
Nice tutorial and it helped answer some questions that I had as a beginner to lure fishing for bass, especially what reel sizes to use, but I was left confused as to why, having covered reels, you said nothing about what length/action of rod to use? Otherwise great and have liked and subscribed. Thanks for posting your videos!
Hi Kevin , this is a two part series and we cover rods in part two. Also check out the rods and reel video on the channel too it might help as we look at budgets for lure rods
Perfect timing for me as I've just got my first lure rod. I have a few questions for you. I'm a little along the coast from you just into W Sussex, so when is a good time to start bass fishing? And can you give more detail on what to look out for when you're looking for bass marks? Do you always need rocks/rough ground or will you find bass around groins, breakwaters or harbour walls? Thanks!
Hi Dave the answer is usually when the water temp gets up during early summer it should encourage Bass to feed. I’m not sure of the figure but definitely over 10 degrees. I’ve caught them
In March on lures but realistically they are better sort on crab and other baits early spring. I know by July lures are worth a try and this will carry on right in to November . You should be looking for all those features but Bass will still chase baitfish up featureless shingle at times. Gull activity inshore a good sign especially when the gulls are high- lower down indicates mackerel
Great video, do you put a swivel on the trace or just tie the carbon line with a knot on to main line
I usually fish around the pagham area but I don't have much luck around there so I'll look for something else this year im looking for a 10lb bass from the shore this year definitely
10lb bass can be found all along the coast I’m sure of it
Really good thanks
Thanks Jimmy
Hi, new to the lure element of fishing but what are your thoughts on the new type of powered lures for more realistic movements?
Love the channel you’re got back interested in sea fishing again, thanks👍
Ah that’s good to know - powered lure sound bonkers ! Using your own skill to adjust the movement of the lure is a great thing and more in tune to hunting - that’s what I love about it
Really enjoyed this video and you explained everything very well for the beginner like me....well for bass anyway.Done a lot of mackerel fishing but now lm ready for one of my favourite fish the bass.I would love to catch one to eat,do you eat the bass you catch!as you seem to put them all back.l shall be making notes on what you say for the future so when l go to buy a new rod and reel l know just what to ask for.l think it's great that you show the moment of the plastics in the water, whish this video was longer, good information thank you 🌱🌱🌱💕🎣🐟
I feel l would like to stick with mono instead of braid l like the play.
Hi Joyce , yes part 2 addresses a lot of these points so I hope you watch it. Mono will be fine , yes I do keep the odd bass and will do during July when they have spawned, 4lb fish are usually my taking size. Maybe I’ll keep one in 5 but in many ways I view fishing more like hunting than a sport.
Oh yes I'll definitely be watching, that's another thing you've just thought me.....that the bass are heavier in July thanks for that tip.
Fattening up , warming up and feasting on bait fish hopefull
My biggest bass to date come out of the Bristol Channel. Porthcawl, South Wales. On a subsurface lure 👍🏻
It just goes to show doesn’t it !
I do learn an awful lot from your videos. Some very good hint and tips and always a joy a watch Mx thanks 👍🏻
Hi! Thanks for posting. How often would you suggest replacing braid or monofilament on a reel, whether for lure fishing or regular beach fishing? Also, what kind of knot do you use to join the braid and mono? Thanks again.
The fg knot for braid to mono and change the end 2m of braaid after every lure trip. I leave the braid on my beach reels all season ! Probably shouldn’t 😂
Smart to fix the map like that:) i found the spot, going in a week or 3
Good luck
Hi from Sunny Jersey, I enjoyed your video but wonder why you recommend a fixed spool with the drag on the front? I have used a rear drag reel for years and find that easier, is it just a personal thing? Keep up the good work!
Thanks , good question front spool can be adjusted with one hand that also holding the rod and offers a more accurate fine adjustment during the fight. Both front and rear will work but everything seems slower with a rear drag fresh water style fixed spool for me
Another great vid!! It may be hard to explain but how would you best setup the drag on the reel???
Cheers yea I was thinking of the best way to explain maybe enough so you can move it with a firm pull !?
Hi can you fish in an estuary over winter? Or summer / autumn mainly?
Hi buddy, just wanted to say I have recently discovered your channel on UA-cam and it has been a great help as I am learning. I have now just started to really enjoy lure fishing for bass. Do you think I will have any luck this time off year? If so can you recommend any areas at all? Thanks mate
There’s some marks in the channel if your in the south in our mark guide videos - you will definitely catch bass this time of year BUT it’s wether the conditions allow you to actually get out in some clearer water. In other words the bass will be there feeding but the water conditions are rarely good for lure fishing - especially this year
brilliant
For my own disbelief I caught my first bass today and I wasn't even going to do fishing in the first place. 🤣 I went kayaking for a round trip from Hythe to Folkestone. I have ordered a 5ft rod from temu for my 9 year old for £7 with reel(He is very unpatient so fishing isn't for him, but wanted to try) . I had all my gears in the car, so grabbed the small tackle box and his cheap rod, 5 feathers rig was on the top of the box so it was my first choice. I was like what ever happens happens. The rod on the holder, line above my head and I was padding straight without bothering about fishing really. After an hour into the journey I caught a small 45cm bass. I could not beleive that I could land that fish with the £7 toy rod.
This is great news !
I've done some lure fishing it's just as fun as mackerel fishing
Yes just less chance to catch a bass !
Brilliant! Have you managed to catch an elusive February bass yet?
I feel the pressure is on Brandon , I’m confident of one in March so I just have a week or so left ..... will post about it if I do on salt water angler on Instagram
I'm off on me hols down to Beer and Seaton in early June....In my research for lure fishing, I've just seen your later videos.
Basically, I just lure fish for Perch and Pike on rivers every session (an obsession since the '70's when a young kid).....
Never fished lures off a beach before, but it looks like my 10-40g rod, 16lb braid, 2500 reel and flouro leader should do OK I assume ? Light Pike gear, which is similar to what I use on rivers but substituting the wire trace...
Watching three of you videos in a row has answered many questions in my mind....As for lures, I have hundreds that will suffice....
Roll on June methinks....
Yes a lot of your perch fishing skills should be put to good use. Let us know how you get on- a lot of freshwater anglers will nail it in the sea.
@@SaltwaterAngler Let's hope so fella.
Liking the channel and I've watched a few already....
Hi. It would be useful to have some guidance on handling and unhooking of th e bass. Thanks in advance
Thanks will include this in future videos
How does one attach the flurocarbon trace to the main line. Id like to see what Knot you use,a nd does it ever snag on the rod rings?
The fg knot is king, it’s on our channel here; ua-cam.com/video/mP9_KqVCLLU/v-deo.html it doesn’t snag on the rod tips but done properly it might give a click as it passes through. You can use a uni to uni but fg is better , 4ft a good length but I’m playing around with 12 ft leaders at the moment
Lovley video as usual just little to short 😉
Hi Kristof , thanks part 2 will be more in depth
When is part 2 coming out?
Working on it now Barry I’m hoping Monday
