i watch few schools of seabass every day from the port. There are bigger and smaller ones. For the last 2 years, i tried everything, did not catch a single one. Now im using 1.6 sufix invisiline fc and lures without hook. All types of lures and techniques, just no hooks. Just to see if im cursed, but im not, they wont take any lure. And im not some low-iq fisherman, im quite experienced, and at first i was only fishing in murky water with most realistic silicone swimbaits and worms, with additional artificial scent from bottle. I even tried reels with different gears and rods with different action haha. And the funniest thing is, im not even lying haha. They just have to be some college grade seabass haha
Grab yourself a net or a couple of traps, catch yourself some live prawn, the bigger the better, no.4 semicircle book, and a couple of split shot, clear bubble float if you feel like it. Live prawn with very light tackle is the best set-up on the planet for European bass fishing, imho. Tight lines 🍻 🎣
@@i1bike That’s a fair comment and a position that I respect. If I catch a nice size bass I’ll take it home for the table, everything else gets placed back in the water. Every year I see big rows of guys on the piers fishing with feathers, pulling up to six fish a cast, they simply shake the fish off the hooks onto the pier, leaving them to flap around under the hot sun, then cast straight back out and pull another load in. I used to do the same thing when I was a teenager, but I hate seeing it now, no one needs to take that many fish in one day, so for mackerel I just use a spinner now, it’s more fun too on a tiny (tiny!) rod 🙂 🎣

@@jedfra9172 "It is folk like you that put parents and kids off fishing." - If you get put off that easily, then maybe fishing isn't for you. You can catch bass at any pebble beach, rock mark or tidal estuary along the coast of England. Beaches that step down in shelves are usually the most productive, because the bass hunt laterally behind the shelves. You can also catch bass at any time of year, although May - September is usually the most productive time. Alosa fallax is a herring-like species (Clupeidae) with an elongated laterally flattened body and a fairly large head with a deep mouth slit that reaches the rear edge of the eye. There are usually one to eight dots on the flank, starting from the head. The species is very similar to the shad and hybridization can occur if the spawning areas of both species overlap. Shad have larger scales (55-65 on the lateral line) compared to the shad (70-86 scales on lateral line). In addition, shad usually only have one dark spot on the flank behind the head. Shad grows to approximately 55 centimeters in length, shad can grow up to 80 centimeters in length.
