7:20 this was almost certainly a log in location for GM avatars. World of Warcraft used to have a GM island that was used heavily because all of the old vanilla GMs had in game toons and special GM accounts. Their toons had special items too, but they needed a place for GM's toons to log in such that there was no way a normal player could see a GM just pop into existence. A GM showing up somewhere was highly disruptive to normal play, so they used GM island as a place for the toons to log in, and then teleport to somewhere if they needed to. Over time though, Blizzard dropped all of these very hands on methods and moved to a completely hands off text only GM approach, and the GM island went unused and just auto banned anyone who zoned into it.

Awesome! I was told I was featured in this video...pleasantly surprised, it’s a great video 👍 Just to note, you should be able to find this Easter Egg again 4:03 but only if you have a copy of the physical disc and use version 1.00. Though personally I’ve not confirmed it, one of the good reasons to buy physical games.
Hate to be that person, but in Splatoon 2 you can still play the maps in Night/Splatfest mode you just have to play with your friends. So that first Easter egg probably could be found again
Stephen Tatrai what Ubertheif mentioned is the map acting as if it's Splatfest. A feature they introduced later to just load them up for fun. I highly doubt it was patched out just for that.
You can get the uncharted easter egg if you have a physical copy and uninstall game then reinstall game but make sure ps4 is not hooked up to the internet.
The first one for Splatoon 2 is a Easter Egg from Splatoon 1, and the audio had it's original traced to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, from the boss Kokolotos (I've probably butchered that) IIRC. As well, now that you can play the maps in the night mode, you can gain access to the Splatoon 2 Easter Egg, so it's still accessible IIRC Source for the first claim: ua-cam.com/video/quEtNy0fc_Y/v-deo.html And something else: the Squid Beakons make a similar noise to the Inkblot Art Academy telephone.
Yes, correct. It was for a short time after the Splatocalypse that these were inaccessible, but now all you need is a friend and you've got the ability to do it. Thank you 5.0.0
I swear back in the day I was playing Wow TBC on my dad's laptop. I was just entering the game and it somehow bugged the textures. Whole textures in Elywnn Forest was changed. The leaves on the trees changed to eyes of a goat, body of the trees and the grass changed to metal, but most creepy one was the water literally turned into dollar banknotes. I quited it than come back it get fixed. It was creepy and cool lol (sorry for my bad english)
I remember trying to get to gm island which is also no longer on the live game, not sure on the classic but it should be the same. Also there always been some claims about secret vendors/npcs, since some cases have been found in the game who knows how many or what was removed.
Yo I remember going on PlayStation Home and actually playing this maze-like game on the Burn Zombie Burn area, it really brings back old memories, wow.
There's City of Heroes servers back online now, you can absolutely get back to the Matrix Room. For free, even. I believe in one of the AMAs, a developer said it was originally a "loading" room that the characters would be held in before an arena match got underway, but they found there was no reason to go through the effort of moving people to the room to then give them a load screen.
@@samutalyist994 Yep! The city of heroes reddit has guides on how to get back into the game, and get onto specific servers that are being hosted now and what have you.
I have been playing RuneScape since 2007, was pretty curious over the years about easter eggs and watched plenty of videos of them. Never, but I mean never have I heard about this empty plot of land easter egg. Nothing but props to you and the guy that discovered and researched it.
You can still play City of Heroes through community servers. Now that the fans are admins, i think we'll be able to give the mainframe room another look.
Me too. I put a couch out of the map on top of my apartment. And even long after they patched it so you could no longer go through the top corner when you place items, I could still go out of the map by standing under the couch and selecting the sit on couch command.
8:40 I'm guessing that was a blank canvas dev thing upon which the devs were developing the Elven capitol of Pffidinas. A long-term project that took them a DECADE.
@@Mate_Antal_Zoltan I believe it was to unlock a hidden Character in Rebirth called 'The Lost' that had a few stipulations to unlock them. Unfortunately Data Miners just scrubbed through the files and figured out how to unlock them , ruining the ARG
There was also an arg for the keeper but it was in the real world so no datamining that. P.S. args are more like 1 time easter eggs so they were intentionally found once unlike these
That runescape one surprised me. I thought it was when someone sneaked into the Elven city before it was released (basically a blob of guarded and gated land) and quickly patched when someone got in. But that was clearly unrelated to that 1 day land mass pop up.
Great video Odd and James, awesome content as always. Also, during the City Of Heroes part, once you go off the map it says "Here there be monsters"; could possibly be a nod to Pirates of the Caribbean, in which Barbossa says to Sparrow: "Your off the edge of the map mate, here there be monsters!" Just an observation :)
"I Am Error" itself (the original in Zelda 2) was already an Easter egg, he has a 'twin' named Bagu, which was actually a mistranslation and was supposed to be "Bug", like a programming bug. At the time it was only an Easter egg that a programmer or high-level end-user would get, but since software and understanding thereof has grown exponentially since then, it is now a broken Easter egg that people misinterpret as being an actual error (whether in translating - i.e.: his name being meant to be Errol - or in the code itself).
I always like when devs put a random sign in an area out of the map. Knowing of the existence of a location and not expecting people to get there is always better than "Oh we have no idea what this random area is."
Actually, there's a Splatfest game mode now in Splatoon 2, so I'm willing to bet you can still see that stuff (you can use all the Splatfest versions of the maps)
That’s interesting if the error houlihan room is no longer accessible, as he also gave you the Pegasus boots, which allowed you to move freely without consequence. That may mean those boots are inaccessible now.
Hey, guys. I'm really sorry if my English is bad. I want to ask something. I don't know if any of you guys know this game. I'm searching for the beta version of this game. The game name is *"Lost in the City".* Is a nice simple hidden object type game that you play in 2000s or early 2010s. I have the beta version of this game on my old computer, but the computer is already broken. The beta version have a bonus of level. Well, not really a bonus. Just a free-to-click-whatever-you-want level. But overall, the vibe is kinda different and the game looks creepier than the released version. I already contacted the developers. Well, they're no news from them. I'm probably should ask this on Lost Media Wiki lol. I just want to ask it here first. You guys seems to know so many stuff.
i feel like the creators of games sometimes will just sneak stuff in without even asking just seeing if anyone would ever find it and when its found they just get removed cuz they weren't supposed to be there
Out of bounds areas were always a favorite of mine. Every game I played I wanted to go out of bounds, but the games I mainly did it for was Free Realms and ToonTown. ToonTown was way cooler for out of bounds because it was great for roleplay. I still remember how to get out in Bossbot HQ and in the BBHQ golf thingy to get to the hidden castle. It was always a great time.
For the games that aren't MMOs in this list, you can remove patches on physically released games, and all the splatfest stages are still in the data of Splatoon 2. You can load yourself into them with mods
Love Oddheader and Ester Egg Hunter videos ! BTW on the Splatoon one, the statues laughing is from Splatoon 1 only (as this map did not reapear in Splatoon 2)
Most of the games with Easter eggs that got patched can be seen again, you just have to go back to that version of the game or if you're playing on console, reinstall the game
Problem is that on console, you cant go to specific versions of the game without fully updating (if the console is connected to the internet) or playing the 1.00 version (offline) which can be unstable or just not finished in some areas that the day one patch is supposed to fix and add as "the final product"
@@lordeilluminati but some of these games it looks like it was in the base game, so just removing any of the updates in general would restore it to it's original factor and you would be able to access it again, Like I think in skyrim they did a patch that added a invisible wall in whiterun so you couldn't get out of bounds, but removing it would remove the invisible wall.
It makes me sad that these Easter eggs were removed bc I'll never get the opportunity to experience them on my own 😞 Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it 👍
"Fallout 76 is over" Trust me it was over the instant it came out Once again im very happy when I get a notification of a new video, its like an early christmas each time Also for the splatoon 2 one, during private matches you can now select Splatfest maps, so are we sure we cant find it anymore?
The Matrix Room was designed as a waiting room for Issue 4: Arena. Players possibly would have waited inside for their pvp bout and had the room actually been completed and used, the tower of light in the centre would likely have been a clickable door, not unlike the ones found much later in the Architect Entertainment buildings. I cannot provide a source as I found this info some 15 or so years ago. Why they opted not to use the room; I can’t say. Why they left it in the game? Cause it looked cool =oP

@@PhantomShadow224 That's *odd.* I play it on the PS4 now, but I never had that happen on PS3. Maybe I should replay it on PS3 to see if it happens to me on there.
Doesn' the has an email or something?
I'm actually playing Saints Row 4 right now, I wonder if I can do that as well.
these kinds of videos fill me with a kind of unsatisfaction, a kind of deep stomach pit of missed opportunity and time spent unwell, but it also inspires me that maybe i'd be able to solve a way to find these again, or solve the unsolved easter eggs.
Well, Splatoon 2 does have a Splatfest mode in Private Battles...
Maybe someone can find it again? I'll sure as hell be trying.
I was planning to say that. My personal theory is that the boss sounds and especially the phone booth are tied to the octo expansion DLC
@Sea Biscuit Oh, nice.
maybe there's some hidden stuff only in the special demo going on right now
Could the shark with a fez on it's head be a Doctor Who reference?
Larry Bundy Jr seeing your comment made me realise that the aurora space is in the PS4 and PC game atom universe maybe its still there on that?
The fez maybe
But why the shark?

Regarding City Of Heroes, it's been back for a while with new semi official servers, now under the name COH Homecoming. Might be time for some exploration/investigation perhaps?
*unofficial
I'm just here for the notif.
That's pretty cool. I was always bummed because I bought City of Heroes and City of Villains as a double pack on sale, only for the game to shut down the next day. Guess that's why they were on sale.
*unnofficial. The "NCSoft talks" are complete bullshit from people who already lied about the existence of the private server for 8 years.
@@AdmiralAwsm Funny part is, Paragon Studios (who had taken over development from the original Cryptic Studios), at the end was in the black. They were able to expand the studio to over 200 people and were making money on the game, but NCSoft still shut it down. Or it shut down because you bought the game :P
yeah, you can totally still play CoH, that's not an easter egg that's 'lost' anymore
I just love the switching between Odd and Egg as moderators that makes it very nice to listen to. Great work as always :3

Oh yeah, he plays runescape.
God Ash 🙏🙏🙏
Hate to be that person, but in Splatoon 2 you can still play the maps in Night/Splatfest mode you just have to play with your friends. So that first Easter egg probably could be found again
I think the implication was that the sounds only ever occurred during splatfest, not that they're unavailable because of the map.
Stephen Tatrai what Ubertheif mentioned is the map acting as if it's Splatfest. A feature they introduced later to just load them up for fun. I highly doubt it was patched out just for that.
@@MattiKoopa I was unaware of the patch to make the map function as if it was Splatfest, apologies.
You can get the uncharted easter egg if you have a physical copy and uninstall game then reinstall game but make sure ps4 is not hooked up to the internet.
I think the Easter egg was a teaser for the octo expansion
NGL Oddheader's voice is much better and makes me feel more comfortable
Yes! Oddheader is comfy as hell
The first one for Splatoon 2 is a Easter Egg from Splatoon 1, and the audio had it's original traced to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, from the boss Kokolotos (I've probably butchered that) IIRC.
As well, now that you can play the maps in the night mode, you can gain access to the Splatoon 2 Easter Egg, so it's still accessible IIRC
Source for the first claim: ua-cam.com/video/quEtNy0fc_Y/v-deo.html
And something else: the Squid Beakons make a similar noise to the Inkblot Art Academy telephone.
GlitchyPikachu wait, the laughter is in splatoon 1, if that’s what you’re talking about.
Yes, correct. It was for a short time after the Splatocalypse that these were inaccessible, but now all you need is a friend and you've got the ability to do it. Thank you 5.0.0
Solgaleo35 Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
Also there always been some claims about secret vendors/npcs, since some cases have been found in the game who knows how many or what was removed.
that sounds like the game didn't load textures properly.
Yo I remember going on PlayStation Home and actually playing this maze-like game on the Burn Zombie Burn area, it really brings back old memories, wow.
1:32 that HAS to be a teaser for the octo expansion. Talking telephone.
There's City of Heroes servers back online now, you can absolutely get back to the Matrix Room. For free, even. I believe in one of the AMAs, a developer said it was originally a "loading" room that the characters would be held in before an arena match got underway, but they found there was no reason to go through the effort of moving people to the room to then give them a load screen.
for real?
@@samutalyist994 Yep! The city of heroes reddit has guides on how to get back into the game, and get onto specific servers that are being hosted now and what have you.
As Someone Who Adored Playstation Home Im Actually Extremely Happy To Know There is an entire team dedicated to getting it back up.
Why’d they even take it away
I have been playing RuneScape since 2007, was pretty curious over the years about easter eggs and watched plenty of videos of them. Never, but I mean never have I heard about this empty plot of land easter egg.
Nothing but props to you and the guy that discovered and researched it.
You can still play City of Heroes through community servers.
Now that the fans are admins, i think we'll be able to give the mainframe room another look.
I remember that one glitch you could do in your apartment to get out of the map in PlayStation Home. Ahhh the memories.
Me too. I put a couch out of the map on top of my apartment. And even long after they patched it so you could no longer go through the top corner when you place items, I could still go out of the map by standing under the couch and selecting the sit on couch command.

I was talking about City of Heroes the other day just popped in my mind that game existed so weird ...
Good news is that you can play the game now that there's unofficial servers online
The City of Heroes "matrix room" was supposedly going to be used as a waiting room for arena, but was never used and left in the game.
Hang on, can't you still do the Splatoon easter eggs through use of the Splatfest Battle mode in private lobbies?
You can the one in splatoon 2. May try it with a friend
7:30
City of heroes exists as private servers now. So the question is can this room be reached again?
Isnt the Binding of isaac "The lost" ARG considered one of these?
there was a Binding of Isaac arg?
@@Mate_Antal_Zoltan I believe it was to unlock a hidden Character in Rebirth called 'The Lost' that had a few stipulations to unlock them. Unfortunately Data Miners just scrubbed through the files and figured out how to unlock them , ruining the ARG
@@cabna01 Yep.
There was also an arg for the keeper but it was in the real world so no datamining that. P.S. args are more like 1 time easter eggs so they were intentionally found once unlike these
“Finally coming to a flat earthers dream and falling yourself off the edge of the water”
I’m fucking dead 😂😂😂😂
That runescape one surprised me. I thought it was when someone sneaked into the Elven city before it was released (basically a blob of guarded and gated land) and quickly patched when someone got in. But that was clearly unrelated to that 1 day land mass pop up.
Great video Odd and James, awesome content as always. Also, during the City Of Heroes part, once you go off the map it says "Here there be monsters"; could possibly be a nod to Pirates of the Caribbean, in which Barbossa says to Sparrow: "Your off the edge of the map mate, here there be monsters!" Just an observation :)
5:27 I may be wrong, but I think the EE is still in the Switch version.
City of Heroes is back, I don't know if you can find that room but I clicked instantly when I saw the thumbnail!
Little girl: *laughs*
Oddheader: *extremely terrifying audio.*
6:06 is great, the way they had to get there, the way the room looks is beautiful and how the developers wont comment on it
Actually, there's a Splatfest game mode now in Splatoon 2, so I'm willing to bet you can still see that stuff (you can use all the Splatfest versions of the maps)
That’s interesting if the error houlihan room is no longer accessible, as he also gave you the Pegasus boots, which allowed you to move freely without consequence. That may mean those boots are inaccessible now.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the hidden golf game on the switch that was patched out.
1:40 sounds like the dog from Luigi's mansion but in a lower pitch
For the Splatoon statue one, standing next to them caused them to laugh less, and only near the end.
Did you find it?
City of Heroes is back. Might be time to investigate that room in PI

@@generictimestamperstupendi9021 Fanart I found of the eponymous Alfred Drevis from 'Mad Father'.
"Now Defunct"? City of Heroes is still up on fan servers like Homecoming. Maybe we can find out what the secret is now?
For the games that aren't MMOs in this list, you can remove patches on physically released games, and all the splatfest stages are still in the data of Splatoon 2. You can load yourself into them with mods
You can play on the Splatfest variants of maps in Private battles
Theory: The gurgling sounds on the telephone in Splatoon is linked to Octo Expansion and the telephone.

theres such a "2012" feel to this channel and i love it.
@@lordeilluminati true that
@@lordeilluminati but some of these games it looks like it was in the base game, so just removing any of the updates in general would restore it to it's original factor and you would be able to access it again, Like I think in skyrim they did a patch that added a invisible wall in whiterun so you couldn't get out of bounds, but removing it would remove the invisible wall.

Also for the splatoon 2 one, during private matches you can now select Splatfest maps, so are we sure we cant find it anymore?
The Matrix Room was designed as a waiting room for Issue 4: Arena. Players possibly would have waited inside for their pvp bout and had the room actually been completed and used, the tower of light in the centre would likely have been a clickable door, not unlike the ones found much later in the Architect Entertainment buildings. I cannot provide a source as I found this info some 15 or so years ago. Why they opted not to use the room; I can’t say. Why they left it in the game? Cause it looked cool =oP
