Yeah, I severely doubt that's the reason. The mastermind behind easter eggs, Niklas Astrand will throw hints at players if they're taking a bit too long on finding the easter eggs. The most likely cause is that indeed, the easter egg was unfinished, there was no big payoff at the end of the stairs, and it managed to slip by in an update because DICE is a fucking mess with patches. I'm sure it'll come back once i'ts done and finished.
There could've been a dozen other reasons to hide or remove the secret besides just "they're mad." Devs wouldn't go through the trouble of making the easter egg if they didn't want players to see it, so they had to have a decent reason.
Did nobody tell you what that Teddy Bear's purpose was within Resistance: Fall of Man? In the Capture The Flag game mode, (the game wouldn't give you any indication of it) but once somebody shoots the bear, both flags would become unable to be interacted with or picked up, leaving the particular session unplayable. This is something people rarely used nefariously, but COULD have been orchestrated in such a way as to have a particular team's agent performing the glitch and waiting until that team got ahead in score by at least 1 point, then triggering the glitch to prevent the opposing team from being able to catch up, effectively creating an instant win scenario. Those were adventurous times man... I miss them!

I dont buy the fraps crash on tower unite / gm tower. When you find something that creepy after being in an area you weren't even suppose to be in, why would you not restart the program or replicate the glitch immediately after. I’m 100% sure it’s real, I remember doing the glitch when I was 10, although I don’t remember the flashing scary pictures on the way down the hallway, I certainly remember going down it with the creepy music, then I went up to that closet and crashed upon turning the corner aswell, but not as early as Craig did, I saw the guys whole body and face, he was hanging by a rope with the bright red light illuminating him from behind, and he had bright white eyes staring down at me, I think there was some kind of command box in that closet that overloads the game and deliberately crashes it, but it gave me nightmares when I got to it, I had forgotten all about it until I saw the thumbnail for this video and clicked on it, instantly recognizing it Edit: figured out it was fake, maybe it was just a figment of my imagination? Still creepy to learn that the board once existed, giving me a little hope what I remember was real
gmodtower had a planned horror game mode, i recall? but the way gmod works is that files are downloaded when you join a server, you could easily recover the files if you did happen to server hop into that edit suite map :v plus tower unites/gmt have super slow dev times so i doubt they would put the effort into something like that.

4:10 The game wasn't actually called GMTower, it was originally a server for Garry's Mod (Hence the "GM"). And that's a map made in hammer editor. Maps are extremely easy to edit and change so the person creating the video could have made it or the actual developers removed it.
@@bahbee1112 Yeah, if it was on the GMTower server he would have either been connected to a new server with that horror map (which is a lot of effort for an easter egg) or completely changed the map for the whole server. It could have possibly been the devs testing server hopping through an entity (which is fairly easy to script) but I highly doubt they'd go into hammer editor and create a brand new horror map just for that, they could have possibly taken the map from the steam workshop though. I think it was faked, there is just too much work for a single easter egg. I'm probably going to go on that map shortly and have a look for myself, the most practical answer would probably be that it is an entity (a prop that is spawned in the world) and not a hammer editor mesh, the entity is scripted to teleport you to a new server or load a new map when pressed e on. Hence why it was so easily removed in later versions of the map as it was probably Perma propped onto the map and once the new versions came out the entities were removed and the easter egg was probably forgotten about.
I asked about the Easter Egg on the Tower Unite forums and I received this answer. "Short explanation: It's almost real, but not quite. There was a planned spooky ARG (Alternate reality game) that never actually happened, that video was a part of the marketing for it (It wasn't real). The sign was added in-game every once in a while as a troll, but it didn't actually teleport you anywhere. I just noticed something about the GMTower easter egg. When the segment of him walking down the hallway ended, it cut completely to a new area, the Suite condo. From Tower Unite. The Suite hadn't been released until the bowling update, a near two years after the original GMT video had released. It was most likely an earlier version of the Suite as I noticed a few things different like the aquarium and couch being different (I don't have the actual condo, just going off the reveal for it). Unless this guy was a dev, there's no way he could've faked this. Probably doesn't lead to much, but I thought it was interesting.
You can actually tell its GMTower's suite by the couch against the wall (on the right). Tower Unite is a smoothly curved U while GMTower has three visible angle bends.
Honestly, if those pictures in this video are the original ones that started the whole thing, then I'm truly confused. Those are such wholesome scenes with him smiling and shaking hands. It makes more sense if Pooh is being used as a symbol to criticize the president in general, but if so it really is an extreme example of the Streisand effect. It's not like there aren't a million other pictures of people comparing press photos of famous people to scenes in cartoons they're reminded of, if Xi had just said nothing whatsoever then it wouldn't have become a meme to begin with.

I was searching EVERYWHERE for the Tower Unite secret but couldn't find anything about it. I saw that secret room years ago in a video that was talking about it but since I was younger I couldn't keep watching and always ended up closing the video or looking somewhere else. Sounds like a dev just fucking with people. In dark souls 1 during the character creator you can choose a starting "gift." Like a firebomb, a key that opens almost every door, a healing item ect. But there was one item called "the pendant" that "reminds weary travelers of home." And when the lead dev Miyazaki was asked which starting gift he would choose he said he'd pick the pendant. It wasn't until six years later at the release of dark souls 3 that he admitted he was screwing with people.
I used to play both GMTower and Tower Unite. The creators liked to do cool Halloween events that were pretty darn spooky. I think the board was just the teleport object for one of the holiday event maps accidentally left in. With how Garry's Mod works the guy who visited it can go there again any time since the map was saved to his computer when visiting it. That is assuming he hasn't deleted it. It may also be available via one of the legacy collections in the steam workshop.

Gmod Tower one was a hoax and the footage was part of a horror mystery type of thing planned by one of the admins/mods for the server. I think it was Massaki that planned it, but i 100% know it was not real as i played Gmod Tower since Lobby 1 and was there when all of this was going on. The board was added by Massaki after people heard of the video just to mess with people, clicking it did nothing.

The gm tower Easter egg is actually a teaser for a cancelled interactive game called the streamer, where the game would be live streamed and the chat would make decisions for the player. These areas can be seen in the trailer for the game aswell.

Regarding the first one, I doubt the company would remove the egg because people found it too fast. I mean, if I spent ALL that time programming floating staircases, and then my boss said "Oh no, they found that thing we wanted them to find. REMOVE IT!" I'd be pissed! I think its more likely that the egg was unfinished. They removed it to avoid people spending all that time and effort for nothing.
The are programmers and there are publishers, and most of the times, the publishers can and will aprove or deny things the programmers do, they have the first and the last word when it comes to these things.
There was a game called “A Special Place” which had an Easter egg found by staring at a barrel, and a few seconds after the barrel would explode, and a jump scare of a static image of a face would pop up and make a really loud screaming sound, a few seconds after the game would crash. the game was soon removed and since then I haven’t been able to find any information about the game. Not sure what happened. The only reason I know about this is my friend showed me the game and while he was going to get another controller out of his drawer (we were gonna play GTA 1) he was luckily looking in the direction of the barrel and while I was about to close the game the jumpscare popped up and scared both of us. We never played that game again.

I think my friend still has the disk for it, the game was about some guy who went to a house in the middle of the woods with some of his friends one guy falls through the floor then the rest get to the basement to help him, some guy with a shotgun shows up and shoots at them, hitting one of them, then they all try to get out of the basement we never got passed that point because of the jumpscare. I don't know what happened to the game I cant find anything about it I even looked up the developer but couldn't find anything

Pokemon is different, tekken 3 is an arcade cabinet that costs money to play one game, if you end up with Sake, you've literally thrown away your money, whereas in pokemon the player never even has to have a magicarp

My guess about the staircase easter egg/mini game was that they started working on it independently before Fortnite became so big, and scrapped the idea so as to not seem like they were copying it. BF5 came out in 2018, Fortnite in 2017, it's close enough to be plausible. After the whole PUBG/Fortnite lawsuit maybe they decided to just scrap it, but didn't scrap it enough.
I mean, PUBG were the ones instigating the lawsuit, and it was pretty clear to everyone that they didn't have a leg to stand on. And it isn't like everything else added to BFV isn't pulled from some other source, as well.
Sad they scrapped it, since PUBG is really a reboot of H1Z1 and Arma 2 and the lawsuit didn't hold up, the Battle Royale license is a joke. Even Daybreak and Bohemia Interactive knew better than to start a lawsuit, despite being abandoned by the devs - with unfulfilled promises too.
DICE: - Creates a cool easter-egg, something complex and interesting that I can genuinely commend them for, as these types of easter eggs are slowly dying in gaming - Removes it because players are solving it too quickly, something I can criticize them for These are some crazy mixed signals I'm getting.
This is pure speculation but I had a weird dream that had a similar situation with the part at 4:34 and heres my guess: The game also crashed because your supposed to have two players in the map aswell. And considering that GMTowers is/was a multiplayer game before it switched to Towers Unite, im sure it would have been possible to get two players in the same map but nobody tried it at all. I'd tell you all about the weird dream but as with us all, I forgot it. Anyone with similar encounters can respond to this Comment and hopefully we'll find one who can remember their dream encounter. Because as they say: Dreams are weird yet mystical.

This is something people rarely used nefariously, but COULD have been orchestrated in such a way as to have a particular team's agent performing the glitch and waiting until that team got ahead in score by at least 1 point, then triggering the glitch to prevent the opposing team from being able to catch up, effectively creating an instant win scenario.

I’m 100% sure it’s real, I remember doing the glitch when I was 10, although I don’t remember the flashing scary pictures on the way down the hallway, I certainly remember going down it with the creepy music, then I went up to that closet and crashed upon turning the corner aswell, but not as early as Craig did, I saw the guys whole body and face, he was hanging by a rope with the bright red light illuminating him from behind, and he had bright white eyes staring down at me, I think there was some kind of command box in that closet that overloads the game and deliberately crashes it, but it gave me nightmares when I got to it, I had forgotten all about it until I saw the thumbnail for this video and clicked on it, instantly recognizing it

4:10 The game wasn't actually called GMTower, it was originally a server for Garry's Mod (Hence the "GM").
And that's a map made in hammer editor. Maps are extremely easy to edit and change so the person creating the video could have made it or the actual developers removed it.

@@bahbee1112 Yeah, if it was on the GMTower server he would have either been connected to a new server with that horror map (which is a lot of effort for an easter egg) or completely changed the map for the whole server. It could have possibly been the devs testing server hopping through an entity (which is fairly easy to script) but I highly doubt they'd go into hammer editor and create a brand new horror map just for that, they could have possibly taken the map from the steam workshop though. I think it was faked, there is just too much work for a single easter egg. I'm probably going to go on that map shortly and have a look for myself, the most practical answer would probably be that it is an entity (a prop that is spawned in the world) and not a hammer editor mesh, the entity is scripted to teleport you to a new server or load a new map when pressed e on. Hence why it was so easily removed in later versions of the map as it was probably Perma propped onto the map and once the new versions came out the entities were removed and the easter egg was probably forgotten about.

I just noticed something about the GMTower easter egg. When the segment of him walking down the hallway ended, it cut completely to a new area, the Suite condo. From Tower Unite. The Suite hadn't been released until the bowling update, a near two years after the original GMT video had released. It was most likely an earlier version of the Suite as I noticed a few things different like the aquarium and couch being different (I don't have the actual condo, just going off the reveal for it). Unless this guy was a dev, there's no way he could've faked this. Probably doesn't lead to much, but I thought it was interesting.

Honestly, if those pictures in this video are the original ones that started the whole thing, then I'm truly confused. Those are such wholesome scenes with him smiling and shaking hands. It makes more sense if Pooh is being used as a symbol to criticize the president in general, but if so it really is an extreme example of the Streisand effect. It's not like there aren't a million other pictures of people comparing press photos of famous people to scenes in cartoons they're reminded of, if Xi had just said nothing whatsoever then it wouldn't have become a meme to begin with.

I was searching EVERYWHERE for the Tower Unite secret but couldn't find anything about it. I saw that secret room years ago in a video that was talking about it but since I was younger I couldn't keep watching and always ended up closing the video or looking somewhere else. In dark souls 1 during the character creator you can choose a starting "gift." Like a firebomb, a key that opens almost every door, a healing item ect. But there was one item called "the pendant" that "reminds weary travelers of home." And when the lead dev Miyazaki was asked which starting gift he would choose he said he'd pick the pendant.
It wasn't until six years later at the release of dark souls 3 that he admitted he was screwing with people.
I used to play both GMTower and Tower Unite. The creators liked to do cool Halloween events that were pretty darn spooky. I think the board was just the teleport object for one of the holiday event maps accidentally left in.
With how Garry's Mod works the guy who visited it can go there again any time since the map was saved to his computer when visiting it. That is assuming he hasn't deleted it. It may also be available via one of the legacy collections in the steam workshop.

Gmod Tower one was a hoax and the footage was part of a horror mystery type of thing planned by one of the admins/mods for the server. I think it was Massaki that planned it, but i 100% know it was not real as i played Gmod Tower since Lobby 1 and was there when all of this was going on. The board was added by Massaki after people heard of the video just to mess with people, clicking it did nothing.

The gm tower Easter egg is actually a teaser for a cancelled interactive game called the streamer, where the game would be live streamed and the chat would make decisions for the player. These areas can be seen in the trailer for the game aswell.

I think its more likely that the egg was unfinished. They removed it to avoid people spending all that time and effort for nothing.

There was a game called “A Special Place” which had an Easter egg found by staring at a barrel, and a few seconds after the barrel would explode, and a jump scare of a static image of a face would pop up and make a really loud screaming sound, a few seconds after the game would crash. the game was soon removed and since then I haven’t been able to find any information about the game. Not sure what happened. The only reason I know about this is my friend showed me the game and while he was going to get another controller out of his drawer (we were gonna play GTA 1) he was luckily looking in the direction of the barrel and while I was about to close the game the jumpscare popped up and scared both of us. We never played that game again.

My guess about the staircase easter egg/mini game was that they started working on it independently before Fortnite became so big, and scrapped the idea so as to not seem like they were copying it.
BF5 came out in 2018, Fortnite in 2017, it's close enough to be plausible. After the whole PUBG/Fortnite lawsuit maybe they decided to just scrap it, but didn't scrap it enough.
I mean, PUBG were the ones instigating the lawsuit, and it was pretty clear to everyone that they didn't have a leg to stand on. And it isn't like everything else added to BFV isn't pulled from some other source, as well.
It was started at end of 2019. Fortnite was actually never an inspiration but in comparison they are very similar.
Sad they scrapped it, since PUBG is really a reboot of H1Z1 and Arma 2 and the lawsuit didn't hold up, the Battle Royale license is a joke. Even Daybreak and Bohemia Interactive knew better than to start a lawsuit, despite being abandoned by the devs - with unfulfilled promises too.

This is pure speculation but I had a weird dream that had a similar situation with the part at 4:34 and heres my guess: The game also crashed because your supposed to have two players in the map aswell. And considering that GMTowers is/was a multiplayer game before it switched to Towers Unite, im sure it would have been possible to get two players in the same map but nobody tried it at all. I'd tell you all about the weird dream but as with us all, I forgot it. Anyone with similar encounters can respond to this Comment and hopefully we'll find one who can remember their dream encounter. Because as they say: Dreams are weird yet mystical.
