Great review, as always. As a Dutchman, I especially like your videos because of your "Deutsche gründlichkeit", all details are covered.

Love your work Thomas.
24:41 I like the driving assistant and active cruise control. Although you can’t rely on the system, it does make the car significantly more relaxing to drive.
As for lane changing: it’s a fun feature but just a little bit too firm for comfort imo.
Amazing review as always Thomas 👏
Thanks 🙏
Bmw has surprisingly punched above it's" luxury weight" in this class..more luxurious materials inside, comfier seats..and something I also appreciate about the 7 is bmw's courage to depart from traditional looks & venture into the unknown coz that look is definitely polarizing but is growing on me, looks Uber cool in that wine red especially the front end. Mercedes has always held the weight in this strata of luxury but even watching the video you honestly feel bmw is landing more blows..what not with that theatre screen, softer closing doors& a boot with a better thud sound, I'll definitely choose the bimmer. Though I still find the overall look Abit uncohesive. The bmw side profile silhouette has a closer relationship with rolls Royce esp the wide boxy fenders& shoulders. I personally feel bmw put a tad more effort & time in the design of this new 7series model beating Mercedes Benz clear but the market won't reflect this result..folks will still buy smercs more convincingly..I cross my fingers n hope bmw strikes more blows in the sales department too
good analysis
For the most part, the S Class in Europe is sold to companies who run luxury fleet catering the rich landing at the various private airports around EU, and 98% choose the S Class because of the *PERFECTLY PREDICTABLE* and reasonable running cost. I mean at Mercedes you already know how much you'll spend up to 200k kms before you buy it!
At Bmw you *NEVER* know how much the regular maintenance is, wildly jumping numbers, insanely expensive parts. In Italy for example at Mercedes we pay 55 €+ VTA / hr at the dealer. Often at Bmw I was charged 100€ / hr.
Overall the maintenance of a 7 Series compared to a S Class could cost you + 50% to 100% more.
The choice becomes obvious.
😅
😺
Agreed
The older I’ve gotten, I come to realize, that both cars have pros and cons but i can honestly say I don’t think one is better then the other. I still believe it’s all about reception 😊
Have you ever owned either vehicle? The last 7 series was one of the most unreliable vehicles in history and they were handing them out for $799 per month leases. The new 7 series has the ugliest style of any vehicle on the road. That is because Hyundai hired all BMW's designers play approximately 5 years ago. There is no coincidence as to why Hyundai's (which is a terrible brand and I dislike) look better and BMWs look worst.
If you have owned or simply test-driven these cars, you would go with the S-Class any day even though the BMW is 2 years newer. The S-Class has defined luxury, sophistication, technology and has said the bar for competitors for over nine generations. It's still going strong and the current S-Class blows out the 7 series after BMW had two years to copy the 7 class as well
@@dannyvafa3639I own both top versions of these Top tier vehicle, 2018 BMW M760LI, and 2012 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG

Yes! The 7 has Rolls Royce presence.
I think the Mercedes has the hood and trunk more angled down at the ends so probably thats why. The BMW made it boxier than the previous 7 series for sure
@@NotMyAccount which one is better

There is no comparison. One looks like you`ve asked someone to draw from memory any new "daytime running lights separated from the headlights" type of design and couldn`t decide on one model and the other one is a beautiful S-Class.
Yeah right, but still the proper aggressive mafia style design which screams luxury was the w221 and w222 which looked better, the w223 parked next to both older gen s class just looked ugly tbh, interior also is the part where the w223 screams cheap compared to the w221 and w222
@@seansiew5629 Mercedes was cutting a lot of costs.. every review says the same. Cheaper materials, less luxurious sound and feel, less comfort. The Older S-Classes are definitely better than the new one.

Great driving and use of turn signal!
I have heared a lot of complains about new BMW 7 series exterior design. I personally like it more than the old 7 series giving it a more futuristic design and also differentiating itself from the other cars in the class and I think the BMW customers will love it.
I am in for BMW Design
Same, I think that the BMW design is just too futuristic that a lot ppl actually can't keep up with, really like the futuristic look.
At least they made changes, while BENZ is still using the design from like 5,6 years ago.
Consider that it is like having the first prius..
Its going to age like milk when everyone adopts the cyberpunk design language.
The stunning S-Clasa is my favourite there now most definitely 👌👌👌

The one thing about BMW is that you'll never confuse their different models.
3 series is completely different to the 5 or the 7 etc. With Merc, it's a matter of size or led in the head lights, with the overall design pretty much the same.
Props to Beemer for the effort 👌
but BMWs have the same interiors. the new 5 series will have this exact interior with lower quality materials.
@@ronaldsimon9718 Mercedes have pretty much same interiors too, only the middle screen changes pretty much

Nice Thomas! We have S class with 21’ inch wheel at the back it is stiff at the front it is good but I won’t recommend to get 21’ wheels!!! Bmw did nice job with 7 series I would get this!!!

I owned a 2019 BMW 3 series (manual transmission) and well as a 2019 Mercedes Benz C300. I LOVED the sporty handing of the BMW but after any drive over 90 minutes, my lower back was stiff. However, this did not occur with the C300.
Even though I am a MB fan first, I would LOVE to get another BMW but I am wary that I will not be comfortable after long drives.
I bought the new 760i a few months ago and it's the best car I've ever owned. I had owned and 2017 750i and I was going to trade it in for the S class, but then I saw the dealership had a new 7 series on the lot and decided to test it. Once I sat in it, I had to have it. It made the S class look like an old lady's car. This one felt sporty, tough, and masculine, as well as super luxurious. I've always wanted an S class, but for some reason always end up with a BMW. BMW has really stepped up their game though and now the price feels justified. The tech and design of this car is incredible.

BMW has slapped the world in the face and said " Shut up and respect how we dare to leave the 1980's behind with design!" The 7 series is light-years ahead of the granny S Class. I currently have a 540i and I love it. Hopefully I'll get a new 7 series in a few years. I test drove a Mercedes the day I went to purchase a car and I was not impressed at all. But then I test drove the Ultimate Driving Machine, and I was smiling ear to ear like a kid on Christmas morning 😁.
As a BMW driver I would choose in this case ( or class) just from the looks alone the Mercedes. Beautiful. Just the front, the proportions of the grill and the frontlights are much more in balance. From the side the BMW looks better but that can also have to do with the bigger wheels that look more in proportion. But then again the back the Mercedes looks much more balanced, where the back of the BMW looks like a front instead of a backside. The color, my taste, the Mercedes is really perfect, although the BMW also not bad. From the inside both cars look extremely beautiful , although the horizontal oriented BMW screens are for me more pleasant to watch then the vertical organized Mercedes screen.
Imo the Mercedes is better from Outside but the BMW better from the Inside. Since you spent most time inside a car driving it my choice would be probably the BMW..
Leave the dark side. Come to Mercedes.

S Class 👑
It looses against 7 series in every comparison.
@@questionyourself718 Except quality, looks, and panache. The BMW grill and front-end are hideous- it’s an old car trying to dress up.
@@pacmanc8103 Didnt you watch the Video? The BMW has the better quality. And i cant belive you used the Word Panache for a Car 😄 I mean, looks are subjective but in every Objective measurement the BMW wins against the S-Class.
@@questionyourself718 Then you really ought to learn from the use of that word. Of course it can be used for a car - a 7 Series BMW that looks like a beaver with squinty eyes, of course not. It has none. BMW is stuck in old mechanicals and design - maybe they’re short on development capacity. The Mercedes S class is the unrivaled king of executive sedans. Period. Cars like the 7 series and the Audi A8 are nice, but they really don’t compete with the S class, as much as they’d like. Sorry, that’s just the way it is.
@@pacmanc8103 You claiming the S-class is King when it lost against the 7 Series in Multiple Tests is too funny 😅 You are living in a Mercedes Fanboy Dreamworld. Objective Facts are that the 7 Series has better quality, better materials, plusher and more comfortable seats, the better ride and dampers and the quicker and higher resolution infotainment.
Nice comparison. I definitely belong to those who rarely regulate the temperature - I can drive on one setting for several months. Hence, these arguments against capacitive buttons and touch screens do not appeal to me ...
thanks keep tuning in !
That's good for you, isn't it? Not everyone has a stable continental climate and my wife, for example, changes the temperature 3 times per 100km. It's just an absolute downgrade in ergonomics. I love high tech and touch, but in some places it seems cheap and out of place.
Dude! These cars are bought by states across the world to transport presidents and kings. Can you imagine a president sits on the back of on these while sweating and his shirt around the arm pits soaked in sweat and as he leaves the vehicle the journalists and cameramen are waiting for him!!
Yeah I really don't get these people whining about climate controls , where the hell are you driving that you need to change the climate so frequently.
@@dkrz8050 Switzerland, sometimes you drive through the tunnel (where suddenly the sun is gone 😆) and on the other side of the mountain you drive in the core shadow and afterwards you come back into the Mediterranean sun.
It's funny how you 1. assume only you and 2. completely insane when you have to justify the normal use of a car.
It is part of a high quality design that the functions are also 1. class.
That is not the case here.
I personally would choose the 7 series, it looks more driver friendly and elegant, in the BMW everything is good quality wise and not distracting while driving
Nicely done 👍👍👍
hehe thanks =) Keep following !
If you compared both Legends of today 7 Series and S Class, both have definitely come so much closer in overall driving dynamics and surprisingly from Merc which is cornering ability is comparable to a BMW without compromising on overall ride comfort. I will still go for the Merc simply because of it's timeless shape and not BMW which looks bigger and more imposing and boxy, just not a fan of the current generation looks and of course those dreadful looking grills.
Well if entering a workshop often isn’t a problem for you then take the S class, if you do not care about people accusing you of having no taste then the 7 series is the pick here
Thomas, some segments of your video are mismatched between audio and visual files. You might want to check this again. Accelerating on the autobahn in the 7 series, for example is clearly mismatched between the audio and video files.
Sorry, there were technical difficulties, now they should be fixed!!
Great Video 🤙⭐️

Very good!
Another great one Thomas, will watch on the big screen tomorrow, your German country men sure as hell know how to build and engineer 👌
germans doesn't build reliable cars anymore
I’d take the 7-series. I love the overall looks and the driving experience. The S-class has a very nice driving experience but the 7-series looks stands out.
If you only consider the ride comfort, which one would you go for? Also, how big is the difference on the ride comfort between the two?
The suspension of the S-Class is also great. However the Veganza seats in the 7-Series are so much better that the seating comfort more defines the riding comfort
I have the new 760 an have drove the s class. 7 series all the way.
What a joy it must feel to drive these two amazing vehicles on the autobahn!!!!
If only BMW made the lower part of the split headlamps more visible when they're off, it would look so much better. Love the overall design, just not the "squinting" look.
I can’t wait for the LCI or facelift hopefully they clean the front end up a little other then that I love it
I have the new i7 and it easily beats the S class. The majority of people on here do not have any taste hence why most people cannot afford the 7 series or the S class and blatantly choose the S class because it's a Mercedes. Any true luxury connoisseur knows that the 7 is superior since it a physically taller car, almost up to crossover SUV height. This is one of the key points of a full-size luxury sedan and only two car manufactures Rolls-Royce and Bentley were able to do this, now BMW has proven their superior design with the new 7, and the S class remains looking like a tiny car since its low.
yes, w223 is an overrated S class, with fanbase filled with kids that doesn't know about cars like Tesla fanbase as well

I bought a blue 4 wheel drive X 5 in April and love it. Mercedes didn’t have any 23 or 24 inventory in hand, didn’t expect any for several months and then only white rear wheel drives (not 4 wheel drives). With our mountainous/hilly roads and occasional bad weather a 4 wheel drive is needed and white vehicles are too common and boring. And I like the futuristic tech in Audis and BMWs….

I agree, the previous gen S class is miles better than this one. Such a shame

@autogefuehl I'm interested whether the 7er has the Executive Drive Pro with the active rollbars and the road reading suspension and whether the S class got the magic acitve body control. Idk why BMW chose to give low spec 7er, but i guess they just got it in stock. Can't wait to see the 750e and 760e in action still nowhere to be seen neither review nor acceleration.
You do realize that the wide disposition of the panels was a 2013 mercedes design?..
Just Take a look at the A class.
Great job Thomas as always!
I really love BMW's. I think they are the best all around luxury brand in the world. But lately they messed up their exterior design in some models. And I mean the M3 the M4 with the huge peculiar grill and now this strange front side in their 7 series flagship.
In my opinion, a car, let alone a car at this level, should instantly give the impression that is beautiful once you see it and not make you doubt about it. Different is not cool, when is not beautiful. It's just weird.
Well a lot of BMW fanboys prefer a shitty engined Mercedes than looking at the beaver nose, there’s people who think a 4 cylinder c63 sounds better than the M3 because it’s ugly
@@seansiew5629 exactly! That beaver nose 😄
@@Beyond_matter_111 but again most of the guys who liked the 2024 C63 don't even have a clue that AMG was known for having V8 engine under the bonnets of C class for the most part like the C55 W203, C63 W204 and C63 W205, the W206 sounds like dogshit tbh, I like the look of the W206 C63 but it can't get over a vacuum cleaner Dyson sounding 4 cylinder

Fair enough but S class in this generation is not luxurious but rather sporty,w223 seems like a remake of the G11 7 series tbh
@@seansiew5629 And this is what I am looking for in the big sedan. Like my weekender e38.:)
@@p0sitiv467 for me i own both W221 and W222 S class, I would go for the G70 because it's more luxurious, the seats are comfier than in the S class, and it has a rear TV which I can enjoy watching while relaxing at the back of the car, I also may eye on the Bentley Flying Spur or Rolls Royce Ghost as they look better than the W223

Love how he always says BEAM W !
thomas, use the voice control to adjust the temperature or fan speed of sth while driving, I'm getting to used to that
I feel like I have to use something more complicated then whereas it could be offered in an easier way....
@@autogefuehl I agree. but physical buttom is gone for sure
Can’t believe BMW doesn’t grow on me at all after after so many months
It’s for people who want to make a statement, and S class is just a remake of the old G11 7 series
Same here, coming from a BMW fanboy, I'm still mad at BMW because of this pathetic design.
@@yessinerabii7176 fair enough but Mercedes S class has a worse build quality overall compared to the 7 series, i would have a car with horrible design than the one that has garbage quality like Mercedes
me too
I choose the older generations of both, On these gen, I choose the Mercedes.
It's a shame the BMW don't hace an individual rear seat and cooler
Yeah it would be cool if they had individual seats with tables and a cooler
I thought the thumbnail pic for the BMW was an exaggerated joke of the grill, that was the actual picture!
lol =)
I think the winner is Thomas. Incredible presentation and I wish I known him a while ago so I would make wiser choices in picking cars.
thanks so much! Please share and recommend :)
I would have like to have seen the A8 also included.
It's interesting that the BMW was red with a dark grey interior and the Mercedes was dark grey with a red interior.
With the A8 being such an older version, it's a bit too far off compared to the two.
Audi is not in the same class as bmw and mercedes imo
@@vikinnorway6725which class is it in your opinion?
@@sillimilli3802 The ugly, boring class. Lol.
The recent A8 is getting very old. Would be more fair to wait for a new A8 and then compare. Unfortunately against these two the A8 has no chance.
Merc and BMW has to stop putting these rectangular screens all over the interiors. We spend all day staring at rectangular screens then get into expensive luxury cars and there are more rectangular screens to stare at. They have to do a better job integrating the screens in to the design of the dashboard so it looks special and not ordinary. The Porsche Taycan and even the Cadillac Escalade do a better job making the screens look special.
exactly they just look same as Chinese junkies
I like this type of video
Hallo Thomas,
Satz „a little bit“ zu sagen. Das ist vergleichbar mit den deutschsprachigen Videos, wo permanent „relativ“ gesagt wird…

I actually think the front of the BMW is fantastic, especially in person. Looks imposing, modern and expensive. Definitely stands out of the crowd.
Only thing I don't like is the crystal lighting features on the inside. Would be far better if it was woodgrain with a subtle lighting features underneath.
I'm a BMW fanboy, but as far as the large luxury car market is concerned Mercedes S Class reigns supreme.
w223 has now a lot of hate for the way it drives, the only upgrade that it has over its predecessor is just interior comfort, ride quality just went down and handles more like a BMW than a Mercedes
Today's matchup: Chucky cheese's vs t-1000 Terminator model. I bet you can tell which is which w/o specification
The front of the BMW reminds me with Citroen Cactus!
