This was filmed July 23... I met Mike Dawes after their Annapolis show July 24th. I was the last fan to meet him and get merch and scribble on CDs... Anyhow I knew he was spent and exhausted... I gave him a thank you card for his songs / hardwork / tour and to wish him safe travels to Petaluma.... I asked him, "So what's it like to tour with Tommy?" Mike responded "He's the kindest person ever... he's so kind mate. " I was like "Yeah i've heard he and Andy Mckee are kind and humble..." Mike said, "You don't get how kind he is... today there was a hispanic family at the hotel that was in distress because they lost some luggage... me and Tommy were outside of the lobby and Tommy went over to see if he could help ease their distress by playing a few songs for the family. He played a concert for them for over an hour there in the corner of the hotel lobby (to their delight). NOBODY DOES THAT... NOBODY." Cheers Mike.... hopefully you got a Maryland crabcake before you flew out to California. The concert was unreal... unreal man. perfect... See you during IGN 2020
That's and awesome story, thanks for sharing. I was also at the Annapolis show and it was amazing! I loved it when Tommy came out during Mikes set and played Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
Saw them in Wilmington. Their show was absolutely incredible. I could not stop smiling, while at times tearing up, because of the unbelievable talent these guys have and the emotions they stir.
I just saw you both together at the Egg in Albany, New York the other day! (April 5, 2022) It was great to see this video of the first time you met. What an incredible concert! I'm 55 years old and I've gone to many rock concerts, and just the two of you on guitars is the best concert I've ever been to! My son and I were in the fifth row just to your left, we enjoyed it more than I can put into words. Thank you so much Mike and Tommy! By the way my name is Tommy and my brother's name is Mike!
Thank you so much Mike and Tommy - It sounded Beautiful, Gorgeous and Fantastic - You boys really know your way to people's hearts - well, you found mine............
Am I the only one watching from India this video after 10 months and having a wow reaction when Mike mentioned indian dishes are the national dish of England. However My no 1 in finger picking is Tommy following him for 8 years.and today I added Mike as no2. Very melodic and extraordinary Jamming by these fellas. Cheers 👍
The low-res camera work actually adds to the moment (communicates vulnerability, accessibility, humility, and other great hippie ideals). I'm personally a sucker for great mics, effects, and production, but I also appreciate performances on low-res and lo-fi equipment--it reveals another very important side to the artist's musicianship. Thank you guys so much for sharing this little session with the wider world. It's really encouraging.
I love the contrast of watching Tommy's meat hooks absolutely manhandle the strings and Mike's slender digits delicately and articulately finding their mark so effortlessly.
Saw them in Beverly, MA, USA a few weeks ago. Very powerful experience. Tommy was as fantastic as I'd ever seen him on video or heard him on radio and Mike Dawes does stuff I've never imagined or heard or seen. Tommy's comment at the end of this video is relatable..Dawes' playing invigorates the soul...the soul of music. Too much? No.
I just discovered Michael Dawes the other day on Michael Palmisano’s UA-cam channel playing Jump by Eddie Van Halen. I was blown away. And I remember thinking “wow, imagine him playing with Tommy Emanuel!” I guess UA-cam algorithms can read minds now! 😬. Wow, great performance guys!! I really enjoyed your session!! Thank you. I would love to see either or better yet both of you in Denver sometime!! Please come!
Saw you and Tommy on your birthday at Bergen PAC! What a treat ! What a gift to be able to experience music from two master artists! I’m enjoying your new album and making my way through the course you have on JamPlay. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to seeing you again. You are an amazing light! Char
Top tier Top shelf A1 Cream of the crop.. etc etc Absolutely breathtaking display of musicianship. Love Tommy & proud he’s an Aussie. Only just discovered Mike, and really blown away by his style.
What a great human being Tommy Emmanuel is. We all know he is giant guitar player but I love his wisdom and approach to life in general. Of course I admire Mike Dawes style and technique - discovered him just few days ago!!!
You guys are Dynamite together !! You should Collaborate on an Album !! Tommy , You picked up on Mike Quickly as you always do and you both were Great !!
Wow not only Mike and Tommy but both of them playing Slow Dancing in a Burning Room! I kinda always wanted to hear Tommy's take on a John Mayer tune but never thought I would, it lived up to expectations, so tastefully done. Also cool story about them hanging out in the studio. You both are amazing guitar players and humans, thanks for sharing. Hippopotamus.
So much talent bottled up in one boardroom. I'm touching the screen, hoping that some of this amazing talent can flow through my fingers. Dang, it didn't work. Guess I'll have to practice, press replay, practice, again, and again and again.
I met Mike and Tommy in Fulda, Germany in November of 2019 - Mike after their concert and Tommy the next morning. Both amazing guitarists and people. Best. Birthday. Ever. ❤️😊
I even never dreamed to see and to hear two of my favourite guitar players together! Of course sound was like from a can, but this not spoiled my impression! Keep in music guys! You are awesome! Please make your collaboration more tight and a long timed! Thank You a lot!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Wouldn't you know, two of my all time favorite guitar players who I've followed for years, learned a few licks watching and at one time keeping track of where you guys were playing. So this summer I've been repairing, building, replacing and doing all those home things needed before winter. So I watch this video, Great by the way, and here I sit 45-50 minuets from Wilminton, Del. Here in Pennsylvania and you're leaving for home. Boy have I been out of the loop! I catch you next time,,,,,hopefully! Thanks Kindly Mike and Tommy! Love, Light, Peace and Music! DaveyJO in Pa.
I JUST stumbled across these two most outstanding guitarists yesterday and I am hooked. Buying ton of their music now. Their styles, technique, and potently emotional overtones present in their compositions just blew me away. Funny how they mentioned UA-cam and how so many people found them through it. I first found Mike (by accident) then went on a several hour "rabbit hole tour" of his online stuff and then I find this other mind-blowing guitarist, Tommy. Well, suffice to say, the next time they tour the US if they come anywhere near Florida then my wife and I are having a date night. Guess where we'll be going?
It's like saying I played with Chet Atkins. There's no way THE CGP "King of Australia" can sit and watch. It all flows through him in a righteous way. We're not worthy! We're not worthy! Love it Mike!
I'm amazed that at the moment of 2 of the best acoustic guitarist in the world are meeting, the only recording system available was a nokia from the 90s ... It makes me cry.
‘Glad I subscribed: found this: ‘like minted strawberries. Watching this, I had monochrome leaf scrolls growing in the air, coy in a clear pool, butterflies in an RHS garden, and couple of trickster crows playing in the wind. You only have one mother and one father. I have lost both of them. Best advice that Tommy Emmanuel gave to Mike is stay in touch with them! Once they're gone you're going to wish they were there.
You guys are welcome to bangers and mash round my gaff any day...as long as I get to bring my acoustic out and jam with you for 20 minutes. Thats on my bucket list because you inspire me beyond belief. Thanks for this and please never stop. You're sublime. In fact if you did an album together, it would be like a modern version of Chet and his various collaborations (incl Tommy). You may not realise but you guys are my generations Chet!!
Two guys at the top of their game, what an honour to be able to listen and watch

You can tell Mike got very emotional after hearing Tommy's words at the end. Tommy is such a great human being and his heart speaks when he's playing.
Old legend meeting a new legend. You can totally see Tommy is impressed. Really fun.
Saw them in Wilmington. Their show was absolutely incredible. I could not stop smiling, while at times tearing up, because of the unbelievable talent these guys have and the emotions they stir.
Two amazing pickers who play the entire instrument. I'm so glad to be able to witness this video as well as others. Wonderful music! Thank you both!
Massive respect. The music is in sync because their personalities match so well. First time they played together? Those are kindred souls.

my eyeballs can't take in all the greatness at once... that's it. I'm watching this again twice and focusing on each of you individually... lol
Gerard Wainwright try to improve your cleverness
Probably the video quality
Only Tommy can play over anybody else's tune so joyfully adding his own licks to it, and surprisingly enoguh.. making it even better :)
