And true to the reality of the tension you feel when a killer suddenly drops his smile.
Joe Pesci REALLY needed a special mention by himself in Casino; he was scary in that movie.
Also, Johnny Depp as Dillinger was amazing
Chazz palmenteri in “a Bronx tale” is some epic $h!t....
-“...now yous can’t leave...”
Sick
Bronx Tale is another classic. Liked the Cadillac of the boss.
Joe Pesci in Casino as Little Nicky 100% # one gangster in a movie
The best Gangster movie will always be Goodfellas!
followed by Casino
Casino too!
Yes yes agreed to both
The best Gangster filmic media:
1. THE GODFATHER
2. GOODFELLAS
3. THE SOPRANOS
4. SCARFACE
Now you may continue...
I like ‘A Bronx Tale.’ “Now yous can’t leave.”
Denzel Washington as Frank Lucas was an amazing role
Maybe, but Denzel looked absolutely nothing like Frank Lucas, the real Frank Lucas looked like a heap of crap, literally.
Goodfellas deserved number one. Such an amazing classic. ♥️
Tom Hardy as The Kray Twins.
and
Johnny Depp as James "Whitey" Bulger.
Wasn't that the two guys from Depeche Mode?
Those 2 movies. Came out in 2015
@@marccolten9801 tom hardy did legends, martin and gary kemp of depache mode , played the krays in the fim called the krays, i think they were both very good,
Depp as John Dillinger
@@marccolten9801 Not Depeche Mode - Spandau Ballet; the Kemp brothers. That was the earlier movie done decades before. It was more stylish yet they were at least as creepy if not more so than Hardy, but the Hardy movie went into the background of explaining why the twins might have behaved like they did.
Everyone was great in Goodfellas. Amazing movie!
fuck you pay me
Gangster cheese that quotes from casino not goodfellas
You mean, let me understand this … cuz I … maybe its me, maybe I’m a little fucked up maybe. I’m funny how? I mean funny, like I’m a clown? I amuse you? I make you laugh? I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you?
You say funny things, thats all
KINGCNT nope its from goodfellas trust me
Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulgur was cold blooded! Should definitely be on this list.
Movie hadn't come out yet when the video was made. Probably would've been if they waited a year to make the video.
oh yes! movie was rather meh though
@@devingilliam5601 ok thats an excuse i can accept :-)
@@TOKRocK84 Good because that's the only one I got.
Yeah he was great shame the movie was rubbish
Part 2!!!! This would be so good!
Ray Liotta is one of the biggest snubs for Best Actor in Oscars history. He was just brilliant in that role.
Scorsese was majorly snubbed for director too.
TheSlagathorr I'm not a fan of Scorsese but calling him a snub is just stupid, even if u dislike him like i do you should agree and accept that Martin made some movies that probably 90% of earth population seen at least one of his movies, what have you done on this earth that allows you to say something like that?when you will make a movies that makes hundreds of dollars box office then you call him a "Snub" .Just respect the guy for what he left in this cinema world.
razexxx20 I don't think you know what snub means...
Noooo. He said he got snubbed for an Oscar….meaning he was deserving of one but was denied of it.
Al Pacino is about to take over the Hoffa role from Jack Nicholson
Irishman
He has..he is the Hoffa now
Hoffa was never a gangster
Jack Nicholson acted as Hoffa better than Pacino ngl
Jack looked and acted more like Hoffa, but AL did a great job
you got denzel, al pacino and de niro!!! the best of the best
@bee boo I don't know - they were both great in those parts.
Denzel, You don't mess with a West Indian my momma is from 🇬🇩
Walken in King of New York
You forgot: The Kill the Irishman, Ray Stevenson Danny Greene
Was about to comment this!
I actually really liked Gangster Squad. It perfectly depicted 1940's LA, neon lights, palmtrees and all
Paramjit Atwal yeah but what movie isn't predictable nowadays? haha
Tom Hardy's Legend ?
IKR !!!!!!
this was made in 2014
Ethan Derby the original legend was made in 90's .. the new one is just a remake
yes but he said tom hardys legend
Public enemies????
Very proud of you for putting Ray Liotta at number 1 you did it right this time!
Tom Hardy - as Ronald "Ronnie" Kray and Reginald "Reggie" Kray in "Legend."
Bruh why did you use so many damn words? You could’ve just said “Tom Hardy - Legend” and we all would’ve known... 😂
Hello Max, long time no see ;)
@@kjb6637 Bruh why did you use so many words. You could've just said "Too much word. Hardy-Legend. Ugga Booga."
... Its called speaking proper English.
@@rowanmelton7643 you’re a bit slow aren’t you… using too many words in a sentence isn’t sPeAkInG pRoPeR eNgLisH (it would be writing btw smart-arse 👍), it’s called being garrulous and it’s widely regarded as a sign of poor language skills… try not to comment on things when you’re blatantly wrong, you just make yourself sound like a nob 🙌 (golden bit of advice for you)
Johnny Depp as John Dillinger! Badass!
I agree, he should be honorable mention at least.
#1 should be the whole Goodfellas cast! Such a masterpiece!
Masterpiece don't even describe it
Chaz Palmienteri as Sonny in A Bronx Tale
BigBookofSales that's fiction
how is that a real gangster
REALEST SHIT EVER, SECOND WAS CARLITO
Great movie. Probably based on some real stories. But not a real guy.
Sonny the bull
Al Pacino as Tony Montana is "TRULY" One of the best portrayals of a Drug lord/gangster and I was surprised that Neither he nor the movie "Scarface" Were not given a spot in the Top Ten - Pacino, Deniro, and Washington are 3 Of The finest actors who ever LIVED ~
Montana wasn't based on a real life gangster. it was fiction and based on a old movie with the same title.
@@hollowclyde3433 so WHAT???! Pacino brought the character to LIFE, and made Tony M BELIEVABLE and worth paying $$$$ to go to a theater to watch! that was 1980 pardner, OK?! Pacino's portrayal was spot ON, FICTION OR NOT. That is WHY he is one of the finest Actors who ever LIVED. he brings LIFE and SUBSTANCE to the characters he portrays. NEXT???
@@davidmcpherson1347 I am a fan of scarface myself its just this video is titled "real life gangsters" so i can see why he isnt in here.
Still the movie is great.
@@hollowclyde3433 .... I agree, it was a great movie, and, in regards to Portrayals of real life gangsters (fictionalized or not) Pacino's portrayal of TM was as REAL as it gets ..... a few of the movie portrayals were fictionalized in the top 10 but after all, these are MOVIES, factual OR fictionalized. Pacino, Deniro, Washington, Fishburne, Pesci, Garcia, Brando, Caan, ect... take these portrayals and BECOME the characters. THEY set the standard NOW, as others have before them ~ Kudos
Tony Montana was one of the best and most iconic movie characters of all time but he is far from realistic to what an actual gangster is like
No Tom Hardy for his portrayal of both twins in Legend?
No Joe Pesci for any of his amazing roles?
.....no to this list
I was thinking the same about Hardy in legend, but then I realized Legend came out in 2015 and this video came out in 2014.
Also at the start of the video they say gagsters who were in gangs, not individuals or pairs.
Joe Pesci's character was not a real person.
@@jgfunk in goodfellas it was, different name but very close to the orginal. Real guy was even more brutal.
jgfunk still he got a Oscar
Good fellas best gangster movie ever.
it was good, but i think casino was a better story as well as more complete and grandeur
This moviеe is now availaаable to watch hеre => twitter.com/2975662cec9375388/status/795841124426391552 Тoр 10 MMMMоviеееe Роrtrаyals of Real Life Gaаaangstеrs
Godfather isn't a gangster movie imo it's more a drama movie.
***** Yeah but It's more of a deep story movie and feels different then most gangster movies.
*****
I know right.
Joe Pecci - Casino?
Joe pecci - Goodfellas?
& robert dr niro as conway in goodfellas! that's not on the list. as for the number 1 of the list, liotta was great, BUT it was pesci who got the oscar because his performance as tommy was excellent, he surpassed everyone and he isnt even in the list!
+henry Posadas Goodfellas was completely based on real events. Henry is based on Henry Hill, Jimmy Conway on Jimmy Burke and Tommy on Thomas DeSimone. The very same Hill said movie was about 90% accurate
Yeah he had a few problems after it. They caught him on drugs (Again) and the program even dumped him a few years before he died, of course Ray Liotta's ending was way better than real Henry's one
Pesci(
HIs name is Pesci.
I’m actually pretty impressed with this list. So many to choose from it would be pretty hard. My list would differ some; but I totally get the logic behind the selections. Well done.
The perfect bad Ass is Joe Pesci! In Good Fellas and Casino
+Andreas Sanchez Agreed. Goodfellas is a classic
He plays a psychopath to perfection, playing someone like that suits him very well
Nothing funnier than watching Casino dubbed for TV..."You money loving son of a gun, forget you!!"
I'm happy that Tom Hardy got at least an honorable mention as Forrest Bondurant but I was expecting Johnny Depp as John Dillinger in this list too...
John Dillinger wasn't strictly a gangster. He robbed banks but he was never working for or a head of a crime syndicate.
How did y'all manage to leave Joe Pesci off of this list? He DEFINITELY should have gotten a nod for his role in Casino.
They literally played a clip of him from that movie at the beginning, pay attention.
He was the 1st clip
they usually try to stick to one spot on the list per installment in a franchise, and DeNiro already made the #3 spot on this list for his role in that film
You couldn't go wrong with this list. But Pesci (Goodfellas), Hardy (Lawless & Legend), Depp (Black Mass) could have also made the Top 10 list.
Public enemy Johnny Depp too
"I came for a proper shootout, with proper men."
Like a western
Fucking watse of my time
"Looks like your brother has done a runner ..."
"Nah, he's just genuinely disappointed, that's all ..."
No Joe Pesci?????!!!?????????!?!?!!!
What a joke
You gawddam right!
No Joe Pesci..!!why
He played tony the ant very well and accurately. One of the only movies on the list that is accurate at all .
Agreed, he should've been at least #2 for Goodfellas. He won an Oscar for it.
I think they left him off because roles like Tommy from Goodfellas and Nicky from Casino were composites of two or more real life Gangsters. Not just one real life inspirations. That's the only reason I could accept leaving him out.
I love Artie Langes take on Henry hill. “Yooo don’t you know it’s illegal to park in front of a fire hydrant “
Where's Lil Z of City of God?
Yeah thats a great character and a real one but knockout ned was better
Katipunero PH Yeah, good one..
He's on the drug dealers list
Paid in Full Still Should Have Made it!!! Alpo, Rich & Azie Was The Real Kings Of Harlem!!!
the movie was so changed I wouldn't put it at the top either and azie Hated it
I don't think they fall under the category of "gangster" though.
+crispinfrancis1 azie wasn't a gangsta but rich and alpo were. they sold drugs but they weren't Afraid to put in work. I thought that was the definition of a gangsta
It very well could. Gangster has many meanings. It could mean 1 or more. We tend to roll toward gangster groups because of the "family meaning". It comes down to who wants to be labeled in such a way.
Mr_mvp23 alpo was a bitch and snitch azie was a true G he stated if you already doing a crime that can put you away for life why draw attention doing petty crimes to draw the heat to you , real life mobsters had the same mentality once drugs and r.i.c.o laws came out
Where's paid in full?
Those characters were based on real people but it wasn't a portrayal. If Ace, Mitch and Rico was Az, Rich Porter and Alpo then it'd be a portrayal.
+CollegeTalkTV sucking
paid in full used different people
+CollegeTalkTV Defenitely should be on here and on top 10 hood movies
This top 10 focuses more on mainstream movies although I agree with you it's just that paid in full is a different type. it's more of a based on a true story top 10
The God Father:
Am I a joke to you?
In The god father aren't gangsters
A mob and a gand have vast differences in enterprizes, fuctionallity, chain of command, and how long they tend to last.
The Corleone crime family were fictional unfortunately, there were real depictions of the other real Dons in the movie but they didn’t have enough screen time in my opinion to be worthy of this list
The title says REAL life gangsters - The Godfather is absolutely amazing, but fictional ^^
great list
"As far back as I can remember, I always watched Scorsese films."
Depp in Public Enemies was phenomenal.
"Don't ask for something thats a burden for you if you get it"
Thats some strong advice.
Tom Hardy in Legend as the Kray twins
Johnny Depp is going to be well deserved on this list after Black Mass
Bahaha excellent reference
where's that from I'm having deja vu
Shawnlima231 its from the black mass trailer when johnny depp says to his brother just saying could get you killed
But at the end, only one will become a LEGEND, or actually two, Tom Hardy & Tom Hardy.
***** No, he wasn't. He was the leader of the Winter Hill Gang.
Please stop bleeping curse words. Its UA-cam not basic cable.
Watchmojo is a professional business that does more than make UA-cam top ten videos. They do a lot of other stuff, and these videos appear in other places with all ages access. It makes sense they censor the word fuck
kirk mitchell so explain the gore that's not censored...carry on watching them top ten saw traps preschoolers
that's a valid argument, and one that I honestly did not think of. But at the same time, many are desensitized to violence, yet still find language offensive (go figure).
But I also don't really see why them bleeping out fuck is really a big deal.
Raul Gonzales a
How it changes
Best Top 10 List you guys have ever compiled.
Johnny Depp was great in Public Enemy, where he played my great uncle John Dillinger
Really?
Lol Really?
Nah, he was Johnny Depp on that.
Purvis, played by Bale, was good tho
Bullshit everyone is john dillingers nephew ive seen about 100 of these comments 😂 saying theyre related to him .....damn everyones related to him .......im his nephew too 😂
I love all mob movies, Goodfellas is my favorite, but my pick for a smart leader was 'Sonny LoSpecchio' from the mob movie 'A Bronx Tale'. That movie has to be my second favorite mob movie.
Tim Roth did not edge Laurence Fishburne out. I watched this movie and Laurence Fishburne was undoubtedly the star.
"Here comes Santy Claus!" Lmao
Sounds like a Pesci line
Hoodlum is a unsung classic
Hoodlums was an amazing movie
its still one of my favorites on the list
*Jeff Futrell* was a unsung classic but did you know they portray Bumpy Johnson as a notorious ruthless leader but that's not what he was in real life he didn't barely kill or stab or people feared him he worked for St Croix as a guard he used his fist like he would beat ppl up like a boxer but not with a weapon.
Armand Assante as Gotti?
Awesome movie! The John Travolta version sucked.
Can not fucking wait for The Irishman to release.
Pesci
De Niro
Pacino
All under the hand of Scorsese! not to mention all the other wise guys that will most likely be included.
Even if Pesci is a doubt for the movie now apparently, i'm still optimistic!
I have not heard of this movie! When is it supposed to shoot and be released? Why is Pesci maybe dropping out? They need to PAY THE MAN!
When is this coming out? I seen all but didn't know about this
+Eddie Xxx It currently has no release..
But it's coming..
They are apparently set to start filming late 2016 Early 2017 but can't be 100% sure on that.
hatsoffsam24 Thank's mate.
Scarface
Denzel sure makes Lucas look good ! On a TV bio , they had to put in captions when Lucas spoke since you could not decipher his words. .
I'm surprised that Leandro Firmino da Hora who plays Li'l Zé in City of God wasn't on this list.
👍
Lil zee was crazy af..shoots kids and all..
Gangs of New York was a crazy-good movie...
It was boring
My favorite of all time
Kenjamin Slutton what the fuck
Great Movie. But Everything "The Butcher" says is fucking Retarded.
very average movie, massively over rated
Thought Johnny Depp would get a mention for Black Mass..
+Ryan Dervan this was from 2014 though, Black Mass was released in 2015
+Sunny Black Just after seeing that there. My bad
Ryan Dervan. Good movie!!
Robert De Niro is one of my all-time favorite actors for portraying gangsters.
That's part of the reason he's so, so good in a bronx tale, i think.
Oh, and! Ever see the video of casino dubbed over a sesame street burt and ernie clip? It's been around forever. I'll forget about it for a couple years, then remember; never not laughed at it. Hard.
Johnny Depp in Blow or Black Mass?
Blow... Definitely
Public Enemies
He was awesome as Whitey Bulger.
Fun list, but where the hell is Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) from The DEPARTED?
Jason Smith Because he’s a fictional character, not a real life Gangster.
Costigan: Who said my father had a problem ??
Costello: I just said he had a FUCKIN problem!
not real
@@arguine1780 that movie is actual based on Japaneses gang movie .

City of God?
Douglas Silva - Li'l Dice/ Leandro Firmino - Li'l Ze'?

New Jack City (Wesley Snipes) Good Will Hunting (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck) Catch ME iF You Can (Leo DiCap)
You can't have a these kind of lists without Pesci.
Jack Nicholson as Frank Costello should have gotten an honorable mention. Frank wasn't a real gangster but everyone and their mother knows that frank was pretty much an exact copy of Whitey Bolger.

Tony Spilotro, Casino 1995.
definitely #1
he appeared many time on this video, but not mentioned in top 100 list
