True story - When Vincent Curatola auditioned for the part of Johnny Sac, he was hearing all of the other contenders auditioning for the part. He heard them screaming, yelling, swearing, etc. When it was Vincent's turn to audition, he sat down and smoked a cigarette and spoke softly. The casting team asked him - "You're doing something totally different from anyone else. Can you tell us why?" Vincent replied - "Johnny Sac is the number two man in New York. He doesn't want anyone to hear what he's saying. If you stood 20 feet away from him, you'd never hear his voice. He's the number 2 mafia boss, not a hoodlum." He was called back immediately to audition again...and asked to share his insights on the character's personality and potential motivation.

@keithymg you're a pretty good troll lol. I usually avoid interacting with the bad or mediocre ones, but you toe the line perfectly. Very allegorical.
Vincent Curatola, the actor who played Johnny Sack was a stone mason into his 40's. The Sopranos was one of his first acting gigs. Incredible how skilled he was at emotions. From soft spoken and caring to insane rage in the same sentence sometimes.
Some people are just naturals. Then they "fall" into a new career or hobby or sport. They miss all the second guessing that some people get when they get training over years.
Did you see what happened to Johnny Sack? Smoking and oxygen... But when I was a teenager , it was Robert Deniro in Goodfellas that made me and all my friends want to smoke.

He also respected the hell out of Tony. Jersey was a joke but Tony had pull with every family and did his business exclusively with the most powerful of them, and went toe to toe with them on multiple disputes. Tony was respected even if Jersey wasn't. Hell not even Tony respected Jersey, he just wanted to be a boss, even if he was more of a colonel and less of a general. When Johnny tells Tony he blames him for legitimizing Carmine Jr, he's serious because Tony actually gave Carmine Jr enough pull by being approached directly by Tony. It started a war because Tony is known as a smart and serious earner who can match his mouth with aggression.

Paulie impressively fearless in prison. Grabs phone first giving the bigger and younger dude a death stare, then theres " Dont touch that ! My program is coming on ! . ." He may not have been boss but he rules supreme in the jail.
All these guys in Sopranos are violent animals who harmed innocent people, most people Tony, Paulie and Christoper hurt were not even part of the crime life. I don't wish to meet people like this in real life, especially Ralphi and Richie. They all depraved and immoral. The cheating on their wives is also despicable. Johnny Sack was they only character that had class, didn't hurt people unnecessarily , was not violent. he was diplomatic and you could have a conversation with him, reason with him and he would reach a compromise. If I were to choose who do I want as a boss between Tony or Johnny I would definately prefer working for Johnny.
I agree he was one of the better ones but he certainly hurt people unnecessarily. Take one of Raphlie's guys: John beat him to the point of nerve damage just because his association to Ralph. But yes John had a commendable class that outdid other bosses.
Just realized that Johnny saying "I should have let Tony chop your head off a year ago" is foreshadowing the fact that they eventually kill Ralph and cut his head off and dismember him.
31:41 Paulie implying he can be in charge of NJ. Then in the end he and patsy end up as top dogs under little Carmine control from NY. Patsie and Pauly got paid and lived a long life after Tony was gone
Paulie makes THREE jokes about Ginny in the span of a minute then rats Ralphie out for making a single joke all night.
Hypocrisy is one of the biggest occurrences in the show 😂
Paulie was the typical scumbag
Manages to divide the whole family
I know Paulie is supposed to provide a little over-the-top comic relief, but he's a colossal piece of sh*t. But then again, who isn't on the show?

When they go?! Come on, huh? It was HBO behind it
@@ExternusArmy you don't know that for sure
Long John Silva ova hee-ah.
HBO and Borko teamed up. But - whack a boss? Come on…
It‘s been done before
All these guys in Sopranos are violent animals who harmed innocent people, most people Tony, Paulie and Christoper hurt were not even part of the crime life.
Hands down Johnny .. and I will come with a gift for genny every envelope drop
I agree he was one of the better ones but he certainly hurt people unnecessarily. Take one of Raphlie's guys: John beat him to the point of nerve damage just because his association to Ralph.
But yes John had a commendable class that outdid other bosses.
@@ruto_o2931 yes he's a scum bag
Just realized that Johnny saying "I should have let Tony chop your head off a year ago" is foreshadowing the fact that they eventually kill Ralph and cut his head off and dismember him.

Amazingly talented actor. One of the best.
Johnny Sacks is an awesome man to his wife. Good on him
31:41 Paulie implying he can be in charge of NJ. Then in the end he and patsy end up as top dogs under little Carmine control from NY. Patsie and Pauly got paid and lived a long life after Tony was gone
Calling 50-year-olds "kid" is my favorite 😂
