Thank you very much! I'm just getting started, upcycling the odd piece to suit my own place. You really inspire me to have a bit of patience and see the beauty in wood grain.
I know the light frame with dark drawers isn't your jam, but it is SO art deco! The light butternut wood looks like gold against the dark drawers, which is such an iconic art deco look. Lovely work!
I love how this piece turned out. The contrast of the wood is beautiful. Don't second-guess yourself, Angie, you always do the right thing! Thank you for sharing your talents with us. 😊
Yeah, you ought to show him a picture of the end result. It would be fun to see his face. I'm sure he would be so happy he gave it to someone competent enough to restore its beauty.
I don't usually contact the seller with updates because some people don't respond well but I had a feeling with these people and sent a picture to their daughter to show her parents. They love it!
I REALLY like how this turned out. The top is fine and I think it adds interest rather than just being a square edge. Lots of nice design elements and you made each of the stand out and demand attention. What a nice rehab on the piece. Just love it!
Do any of the previous owners of the pieces you refinish watch the transformations online? If I saw one of my pieces being redone I'd be so honored to know how thoughtful and caring you are at your craft. 💚
I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. But I like to restore certain woods whenever possible. 🙂
Love the work you do. Following from the beginning, glad to see that you more and more try to go back to the orignial. By the way, why I know it's from Canada is your way to say "out"😂 Love from Kristina and woodland Sweden❤
Am I the only one who cannot resist talking along with "My name is Angie, and I refinish furniture; sometimes I paint, and sometimes I don't, but I always do what I can, to save old pieces from the trash. Welcome to my workroom "😁
My daughter wants to be a carpenter when she’s older, so you are like a role model for her as you don’t often have women doing videos like this. So thank you for your channel and inspiring my daughter! X
I've been following you ever since the beginning, and I'm still always blown away by how amazing you make these pieces look! Your artist's eye + craftsperson's skill and attention to detail = *chef's kiss* I'm sure the feline supervision helped as well! They were working SO hard.
Forget about saving this from the landfill - you brought out it’s soul and what a beauty it is! Butterfly🦋 veneers are now are apparent and the reveal made me sigh with joy.
I know nothing about woodworking or refinishing. All I do is paint a few pieces of furniture for my own home, and I happened on your channel quite some time ago searching for videos to help me with that. Usually, when a video is showing a process that I know I could never accomplish, I just quit watching, but I'm always mesmerized by your work, your knowledge, your everything--and I always watch all the way to the end. You put sooooo much work into this piece that I really wish I knew how much you sell it for.
I actually list everything I sell on my instagram and FB page, but usually remove the prices once they do sell. Pricing varies wildly from town to town, across provinces, and country to country (not to mention exchange rates), and there's no real average price because of the condition of the pieces, and sometimes even how quickly I need to sell something. For those reasons, I don't normally mention in these videos what the sale prices are, but if you're following the instagram/fb pages, you can actually see the for sale posts come up with the selling prices (until they sell, that is). 😊
Angie, I love your work. I refinished a lot of furniture when I was younger, and you and John have taught me so much. You two are the only ones I still watch. Your furniture results are great. Incidentally, I love your voice.
Another great one to learn from is Thomas Johnson Antiques. He is located in Maine and still practices a lot of techniques that are becoming a lost art. Hope you check him out!
I, personally, think the dark edge of the top really pulls together the whole dresser. All of the drawers have varying amounts of darker areas, so it just highlights all of them. Another amazing restoration done by someone with a great eye for detail and artistry!
Angie, this piece positively radiates inner light! The burlwood glows like embers against the blonder and darker backdrops, and the brass contributes its own shine. Drawer pulls -> superb.
I've been a subscriber for a couple of years and I'm still amazed at what you can do with furniture that many would consider junk. Not only do you salvage it but you make it beautiful again. I love that you are always open to learning new things and improving your skills. Quite inspiring and motivating. Love this piece
I knew I was going to love this one at first glance. Those handles! The burled veneer and the detail at the bottom! So, so pretty. Glad you were able to get the smell out of it. Someone is going to love this dresser.
Wow, what an amazing rescue. The "before" was so nasty looking I could smell the stink through my monitor. 😷 And the "after" is just gorgeous and a delight. Between the bunnies, the kitties and Andrea, you really are surrounded neck-deep by cuteness, aren't you? No wonder you're able to do such great work!
Thanks Angie. That deal (WWGOA), $86 off a full year membership was the deal breaker. I signed up. Not that I do much woodworking but if I can learn anything, it will be a bargain.
As artist-in-residence for the Art Deco Society of California, may I be permitted to say that this piece is spectacular! It's an excellent work of restoration.
The transformation of this one blew me away...from something abandoned on a front porch to a piece of furniture art... you have done it again Angie, another piece saved, somewhere a super happy customer and on to the next... Feline intermission was appreciated as always ..lil cuties
What an incredible transformation to a beautiful old piece. It is truly to your credit that these pieces get a second life. I'm glad Andrea could help you with the last-minute details. She always has a smile on her face!! Again, I repeat that you are an artist and expertise with the wood identification!! Burlwood is really beautiful. Great job!!
I’ve often thought that if I had a UA-cam channel I’d like do a “ Turd to Treasure” challenge. But then I’ve seen you do it now, what, 50 times so you’d just win it preemptively. Especially and always the treasure part! You know, one of these days you should make a piece like that from scratch. Wouldn’t that be something?👍
My main mission in my business is to keep things out of the trash. Sometimes that means working on busted antiques and sometimes it means particle board crap. Lol A lot of it still has decades of use left. If I can take something and modify it to be more desirable, it will get used, at least for a time. But in the meantime, hopefully that transformation will inspire other people to do the same. There are many amazing modern craftspeople doing phenomenal work. And I’m not saying I’d never try it… but my efforts are focussed elsewhere purposely. Hope that makes sense. 😊 I do plan to build bunny beds though!
You made all the right decisions! Working outside your own personal comfort zone doesn't have to be a bad thing--we all have different tastes, and this turned out so special! 👍🏻💖👍🏻
I love your eye for restoration. Who knew this piece had so much potential? ? . . . obviously you did. It's a stunning reveal. Can tell you didn't care for the way the top came out . . . as we saw just a tiny corner in the reveal . . . lol Thanks for sharing with us.
Good lord it's hard to believe it's the same dresser. LOVE how the handles turned out. I didn't even realise there was brass inlays there when I first saw them. You did a great job as always Angie.
Beautiful most people would have seen the before and said its a goner I LOVE you see more when looking at pieces like this another GREAT piece saved from the dump❤❤
You are an artist and an amazingly talented craftsperson! The life you bring back to these pieces is inspiring. I can only imagine that anyone who acquires one of your restorations can feel the love you have poured into them. They are not only saved from a landfill but they are given a new life. Brava!
THAT chest is just stunning! It's so interesting to me how the choices you make in regard to the color staining of specific areas of the chest focuses ones attention to various parts of the wood -- but it still comes across as a very cohesive piece. I love what you did with it!
Smelly furniture is probably like smelly houses: people living there don't/can't smell it anymore! Especially if they're 80 years old :) I appreciate your thorough work to take care of smells. I love the piece, it's so beautiful! Fantastic restoration Angie
So beautiful!!! It’s a lot of work mitigating the odors as you do, and to me, ESSENTIAL work that needs to be undertaken to keep the item usable!! And safe for use inside the home! The smells aren’t just a nuisance: they reflect an issue with mold or 3rd hand smoke, etc. But I digress. Awesome work, Angie!!! It’s so beautiful. The handles and the contrasting wood. You, again, brought out the best in the piece and made it SHINE!
The lines on this chest are just gorgeous! I love the burlwood fronts, especially with those handles! I finally got back to see the rest of this project and I am so happy I did! It struck me Angie, how careful and detail oriented you are. I don't think you could ever do a bad piece! Love your work!
I wonder if that was the original top for that piece. It looks slightly too small, with no overhanging lip. Also, the veneer on the top drawer is so different from the other two (and so not-special) that it seems possible that someone replaced new walnut veneer after damage, sometime in the past. I'm glad the drawer pulls survived, they're very unusual. Either way, you've given it back its dignity and a new life.
I wondered the same thing about the top; it just doesn't seem like the original. A top with convex rounded edges would have been consistent with the ribbed base and legs, so my guess is that is the kind of top it originally had.
Fab result! Fun fact: a "butternut" was also a Confederate soldier or supporter (so called because the fabric of the Confederate uniform was typically homespun and dyed with butternut extract).
The different tones of the walnut veneer, having all the 1930’s hardware pieces and edges. Thanks to your transformation, and attention to detail, it can now live on again. Great job 👍
I absolutely LOVE watching you work! You don't take shortcuts. You do things the right way and the results are always fabulous. We are sorely in need of your kind of work ethic these days. Your customers are indeed fortunate to have a piece of yours.
I can’t imagine everyone NOT being impressed with your work. Your choice of pieces you refinish are so well done and I always feel you could envision the end product before you begin-even with a non aromatic specimen such as this one! 👏🏻👏🏻
You always seem to see what a piece should look like & then turn it into a beautiful piece for someone to cherish... Hello 👋🏻 from Southern California 🌴
That is SO beautiful. the light wood at the front looks like gold against the darker wood drawers. I love art deco and so glad seeing pieces like this revived.
WOW!! Angie your work is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I so enjoy your videos. I know that people say, "that's a trash to treasure piece" but with you, that is always so true!! To me you are a true artist!!
OhMyGoodness!! Angie & Andrea!! Look at that gorgeous Berle!! Love the dark with the light look and so happy that you kept the original hardware!! Stunning!!❤❤❤
YES! I love the dark color tie in! It’s photographing very well. That piece was a mess & now it’s beautiful! Those drawer pulls are fantastic. So glad you took a chance & don’t forget to fumigate your vehicle. 🤣🦋
I love wood furniture because it makes me ponder the years the tree created the grain from the weather conditions each season. Your artistry with this piece is astounding. The meticulous care is a beautiful thing to watch. It boils down to love in my view. Thank you for sharing.
Angie, I think making the edge of the top dark was the right choice. It gives balance and separation. Well done! It came out beautifully! I love the hardware. Such a cool detail. ❤
I really love the butternut against the walnut. It frames the piece so well. And adding the dark around the top is a wonderful contrast. Excellent save of a stinky piece. I would gladly put this in my home. 🥰❤👍
Love those handles-- they would pull me in, too! Wow, those nuts and screws are so cool! Fascinating about the bugs. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this content!!!! Angie, you are such a wizard. This piece was so lucky to have your (and Andrea's) hands on it. The wood is so beautiful and now it can go on and have a lovely new life. Great job!
S T U N N I N G ! ! ! ! These pieces are SO dramatic and (as a Leo) I have to say I absolutely LOVE them. Angie, as always, you work your Magic (and amazing skill) ... and bring them back to life. This one was really knackered and you found the Elixir of Youth and revitalized the piece beyond recognition. "Zowie!!!"
I have unsubscribed from a few channels because they ignore the back and inside of these chests. You don't. This project is beautiful. Your work is lovely.
I love me some art deco furniture with a variety of brown tones! 💗 The brass accents on the drawer pulls add a touch of class. 😯 Angie, another masterpiece for our viewing and learning experiences. And, nice to see Andrea’s smiling face and helping hands.
I was on the fence when you said you’d be doing light instead of dark on the trim but Angie it looks amazing! I was wrong! 😂love art deco pieces. If I was up there I’d want to buy that one from you. It truly is gorgeous.
I can't imagine people who don't care about the smells! A smelly piece of furniture is the worst. Thank you for showing us how to address it. The result/transformation is simply stunning. I'm always amazed at the quality of your work. Thanks again.
Over many years I've had these period pieces 30's-50's so i love what you do to save them. Thank you on behalf of mankind. The opposite color scheme works wonderfully, and it only takes one person to fall in love with it. Beautiful job.
Hello Angie, you have done it again!! Who would have thought this piece could look so good? I love the way you take old, ugly unwanted items and turn them into beautiful pieces that would grace any home. Some lucky person will treasure this for years to come. Thank you for a really enjoyable video.😀
I think your comfort zone has just had a reset 🤣 The butternut/walnut woods and their respective colors are really well done and entirely appropriate for this piece. Great job Angie! You took on another "pile" and created a real work of art and restoration out of a smelly, sad discombobulated mess. Excellent!
Love watching this total transformation on a rainy morning with a cup of tea--was waiting for your latest video and this did not disappoint. This piece would have gone straight to the dump without your intervention, and you worked a miracle! Beautiful job as always. And make sure to give your supurrvisors lots of treats for their guidance!
The only word that came to my mind after watching this is ‘Perfection’. You left no stone unturned. The whole restoration process is spot on and the end product is gorgeous. Love the black edging of the top. Keep up the good work Angie!!!
Wow! When you said butternut, I thought squash.🤣 The hubby said he had heard of it but didn’t know much about it. I love this piece. You always see the beauty beneath the rough condition. Doing the dark top totally works for this piece. It makes the lighter drawer structure stand out more. The top drawer’s darker hues create a smooth transition from the top to it and then that center panel of the middle drawer pulls the lighter hues into the overall look. Totally amazing as always. ❤❤❤
I appreciate you speaking about the smell and addressing it. It’s not information we could have without you addressing it. I bet your customers do as well.
I am so happy that you are concerned with the smell of old pieces. I too am sensitive to the smell of old things and appreciate your approach to this piece. It turned out amazing. Your choice of stain and color made it come back to life. Thanks for saving something old and giving it a second life. 😀
Oh how she shines now! The light trim really made the drawers pop! I love how much you care about these pieces. Deodorizing would be so important to me if I were purchasing a piece. Another outstanding transformation!
You are a true artist, Angie! I have learned so much from your videos...your respect for your craft and for those you sell your pieces to is unparalleled.

Wow Debra, thank you very much! 😊
Totally agree that Angie's meticulous care makes the end result absolutely stunning. Truly is a pleasure to watch the transformation proccess.

I love seeing real furniture restored. Happy to see someone who appreciates the artistry and doesn't approach it with a paintbrush.
My sentiments exactly. True craftsmanship here.

Thank you so much! 😊
I can’t imagine everyone NOT being impressed with your work. Your choice of pieces you refinish are so well done and I always feel you could envision the end product before you begin-even with a non aromatic specimen such as this one! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much! 😊
You always seem to see what a piece should look like & then turn it into a beautiful piece for someone to cherish... Hello 👋🏻 from Southern California 🌴
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
That is SO beautiful. the light wood at the front looks like gold against the darker wood drawers. I love art deco and so glad seeing pieces like this revived.
Thank you very much! 😊
WOW!! Angie your work is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I so enjoy your videos. I know that people say, "that's a trash to treasure piece" but with you, that is always so true!! To me you are a true artist!!
I appreciate that! Thank you! 😊
OhMyGoodness!! Angie & Andrea!! Look at that gorgeous Berle!! Love the dark with the light look and so happy that you kept the original hardware!! Stunning!!❤❤❤
Thank you Cathy! I'm so glad you like it! 😀
Every time I watch one of your videos I am so glad I came across your channel! I absolutely love your work!
Thank you so much Theresa!
YES! I love the dark color tie in! It’s photographing very well. That piece was a mess & now it’s beautiful! Those drawer pulls are fantastic. So glad you took a chance & don’t forget to fumigate your vehicle. 🤣🦋
Thanks so much for watching!
I love wood furniture because it makes me ponder the years the tree created the grain from the weather conditions each season. Your artistry with this piece is astounding. The meticulous care is a beautiful thing to watch. It boils down to love in my view. Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome!
Angie, I think making the edge of the top dark was the right choice. It gives balance and separation. Well done! It came out beautifully! I love the hardware. Such a cool detail. ❤
Thank you so much!! 😊
I really love the butternut against the walnut. It frames the piece so well. And adding the dark around the top is a wonderful contrast. Excellent save of a stinky piece. I would gladly put this in my home. 🥰❤👍
Thank you kindly! 😀
BRILLIANT!
Thank you!! 😊
Great job!
Thank you so much for watching!
"Zowie!!!"
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like how it turned out! 😊
That piece came out beautifully Angie you always put love in to your work ❤👍
Thanks so much 😊
I have unsubscribed from a few channels because they ignore the back and inside of these chests. You don't. This project is beautiful. Your work is lovely.
Thank you so much! 😊
A beautiful chest of drawer! You did a great job of bringing this piece back to life!
I'm so glad you like it! 😊
I love me some art deco furniture with a variety of brown tones! 💗 The brass accents on the drawer pulls add a touch of class. 😯
Angie, another masterpiece for our viewing and learning experiences. And, nice to see Andrea’s smiling face and helping hands.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much! 😊
I love watching you work. Its like you're talking to and listening to the wood and the piece.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Angie: it is just gorgeous. If the original owner saw it now, he wouldn’t believe it. Amazing. Be proud,- girl. Love it. Carol from California
I actually did send a picture to the original owners and they LOVED it. 😍
Wow, the transformation is absolutely amazing! The dresser is gorgeous and vibrant! What you did with it was absolutely the right choice!
Thank you so much! 😊
I was on the fence when you said you’d be doing light instead of dark on the trim but Angie it looks amazing! I was wrong! 😂love art deco pieces. If I was up there I’d want to buy that one from you. It truly is gorgeous.
Oh thank you!
I can't imagine people who don't care about the smells! A smelly piece of furniture is the worst. Thank you for showing us how to address it. The result/transformation is simply stunning. I'm always amazed at the quality of your work. Thanks again.
You're most welcome! I'm glad I could help! 😀
Over many years I've had these period pieces 30's-50's so i love what you do to save them. Thank you on behalf of mankind. The opposite color scheme works wonderfully, and it only takes one person to fall in love with it. Beautiful job.
Wow! You're very welcome! ☺️
Hello Angie, you have done it again!! Who would have thought this piece could look so good? I love the way you take old, ugly unwanted items and turn them into beautiful pieces that would grace any home. Some lucky person will treasure this for years to come. Thank you for a really enjoyable video.😀
You're very welcome!!! 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I think your comfort zone has just had a reset 🤣 The butternut/walnut woods and their respective colors are really well done and entirely appropriate for this piece. Great job Angie! You took on another "pile" and created a real work of art and restoration out of a smelly, sad discombobulated mess. Excellent!
Thank you so much for watching!
Oh they get lots of treats, believe me. 😊 They even have one of our friends trained so when she comes over they'll let her know they need treats. 😂
Nacho's thumbs get me every time! 😊
The only word that came to my mind after watching this is ‘Perfection’. You left no stone unturned. The whole restoration process is spot on and the end product is gorgeous. Love the black edging of the top. Keep up the good work Angie!!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like how it turned out! 😊
WOW! The before and after on this piece is beyond belief. I love your work! Your channel is one of my weekend-morning coffee and internet stops. ☕😺
Thank you so much 😀
Angie! Your attention to detail is AMAZING!!! You are a TRUE ARTISAN!! 🤩🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
Wow, thank you so much!! ☺️
Angie, trust your decisions. This dresser is GORGEOUS. ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
I'm so glad you kept the butternut wood light! Butternut is being decimated by a blight, and it is increasingly rare. You did a beautiful job!
Thank you so much for watching!
WOW. Stunning transformation from the trash heap to a special spot in someone's home!
Thank you kindly! 😊
I appreciate you speaking about the smell and addressing it. It’s not information we could have without you addressing it. I bet your customers do as well.
Thank you kindly! 😊
I am so happy that you are concerned with the smell of old pieces. I too am sensitive to the smell of old things and appreciate your approach to this piece. It turned out amazing. Your choice of stain and color made it come back to life. Thanks for saving something old and giving it a second life. 😀
You're very welcome! ☺️
Oh how she shines now! The light trim really made the drawers pop! I love how much you care about these pieces. Deodorizing would be so important to me if I were purchasing a piece. Another outstanding transformation!
Thank you kindly! 😊
It's beautiful. And it is so soothing to watch someone meticulously do each step properly.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful piece! I love the light/dark contrast and I'm so happy you left those handles! They're perfect for the piece. We'll done!!
Thank you very much! 😀
She's beautiful! This is my favorite era of furniture.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Angie I love that you did the best thing for the piece and not what you personally prefer. It turned out beautiful ❤
Personally, I love the way the color scheme turned out. It’s very dramatic and elegant.
Thank you so much! 😊
I love how this turned out. The wood grain on the drawers and the hardware, just beautiful❣️
I'm so glad you like it! 😊
Again you have worked your magic on a decaying piece of furniture, it now looks a million dollars, I love it and those two cats 🐱
Wow, thank you!
You are a true artist, Angie! I have learned so much from your videos...your respect for your craft and for those you sell your pieces to is unparalleled.
Wow, thank you kindly!
Ok the light trim with the dark drawers/top is STUNNING. Beautiful work!!!
