With the high grip of the new carpets being used for 1/12th racing most manufacturers have found that aluminum chassis handles better than carbon fiber.
The eclipse 4 is quite unique as they have changed the rear wheels fixing to 12mm hex instead of the standard three bolt
Hi Gavin, I used to race those waaay back in the day on carpet in a church ⛪️ hall, even then I wasn’t very good, soooo freaking fast and really twitchy and the tracks were barely 😥 2 cars wide, as you can imagine, overtaking was frenetic and the sweat/gravy would leak out of me quite badly, lol 😝. Needless to say I never stuck at it for very long . Nice video Gav. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
I tried racing one season and quickly realized I was truly out of my depth. I stuck with off-road 1/8 nitro much happier
Very cool!!!!
Great looking car. I race GT12's which are very similar. They are the Schumacher Atom range. Beware if you drive this on a carpet track as it's all about the adhesive that you apply to the tyres and how long before you race you apply it.
It looks extremely race focused that's for sure. I have a track about 25 mins away so when possible I will try and get to give it a go.
Cool rc kicks 👍
That chassis does look fantastic, but those wheels though, they look sexy as hell!! Can't wait to see it built and running!
It looks amazing doesn’t it.
Even with just a silver can motor, these things are seriously quick Gavin. For your first run with it,I'd advise just going with that motor to start with.
That’s a good idea. 👍🏻
Cool little car👍
Cool little car 👍
Ha Ha!. Sorry Gav, your reaction to the kit content neatly and concisely sums up a personal reaction of someone who hasn't seriously raced RC cars since, well, God knows when, and has only been used to Tamyia kits and its own ecology, and therefore feels hard done by because it doesn't even come with bearings! Your not wrong, how those world class 1/12 racers do it without the aid of '"Colombian marching powder" beats me! Other worldly! "Not worthy" As I've mentioned before, why not try for a project to do with the early to mid nineties stadium truck racers. A bit in keeping with 1/12 pan cars, your Dyna Blitzer, makes, even an early 90's stadium truck racer, look like a Grasshopper compared to one of your mid 90's stadium racing rigs, so give it a go. For me, it'd be an RC10T. I too would be grateful to know how I could purchase an RC Kicks mug or decals, as, I can't quite stretch to a Patron outlay.Sorry mate. I'd just like also add , I applaud you for having the "balls" for going your own way with RC Kicks.I'd also like to suggest, in the context of pancars, even if it doesn't have the same grip levels as tarmac, AstroTurf hockey/tennis courts have the flatness/levelness, which is really needed, for running pancars, which is what I really believe your looking for. Deep gratitude and thanks.
You got the wrong rear wheels. Usually pan cars use the three-lug system but that one came out with a new rear axle that is using hexes. Your wheels are the three-lug type.
That’s for the info, I’ll check on that and order the correct set before the build. 👍🏻
Yep you are correct. I have ordered the new hex design from Schumacher for the build.
Actually that's fine. If Gavin intends to run it on asphalt where there is little grip, he should get the old ball diff set U8171 which uses the three-lug
that box thickness wow i thought it was an after eight mint !
Eclipse 👍😊👍
One of the classes I started out racing way back when was 1/10 stock buggy and 1/10 stock pan car (basically a 1/10 scale version of this) super simple cars they have changed in the 30+ yrs since I’ve raced one but not much one thing I absolutely hated (and it’s why I jumped to Touring Car) is truing foam tires, the constant having to adjust gearing for the changing tire diameter and just going though tons of tires and having to mount them🙄
F1 with rubber tires is as close to running a pan car as I’ll get these days.
Fun fact a friend that I used to pit for that ran 1/8 scale nitro used to run 1/12 scale at the indoor electric races to keep his 1/8 scale skills sharp during the winter when we couldn’t run nitro.
I had Parma electric back in the day with a Ball Diff they were quick then i was on the rostrum and my eyes were about 5 metres ahead of the car as i went round only way to navigate the turns back then
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Maddox Tyson Try flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Maddox Tyson I use FlixZone. Just google for it =)
Those rear wheels tho'😍
multi story car parks are okay to run on, but take a sweeping brush with you.
your not that far from wlrc.co.uk/ its a track in a public park next to a skate park so anyone can use the track in the week when its not being used by the club
Nice car but not sure when we will be able to race them😞
Gavin your going to need different rear wheels as schumacher have changed the mounting on the eclipse 4
Yep, I have them on order :)
mma how the hell do you have my friend? congratulations, only for the money👏👏😁
That´s the perfect kit for NIB-Collectors, the small box dont take much space on the shelf haha. What motor/esc are you putting in that?
Not sure but it will brushless
Wild!!! A local club races something called GT12’s - is that what this car is?
No, the eclipse is an lmp instead of a gt, the Schumacher atom is their gt12 car
If you run it on carpet at a local club you will need additive to get the best out the tyres
I think the massive weak link would be more me than the tyres Mark lol
No seriously these cars don't work on carpet without additive.
Great car but unless you have a club to visit very few places to use these. indoor car parks are good BUT never really empty of people.
Ive just ordered one of these chassis as well. Oopsy
👍🏻 Cool. Have you had one before?
@@RCKickschannel ive never had one before. I just love the look of it.
These things are so extreme. So agile even in comparison to carpet touring car racing... Too quick for me
Same,
I’ve been watching some races and OMG, these cars are bonkers! I’m looking forward to building it and getting to know more about these little rockets.
I saw it for 200$ I think its the 3 but its still expensive
These are a bit hard to find.
Does that mean off road cars are over complex/engineered :)
I’m trying to think what was the most complicated RC kit and nothing really jumps out. The Schumacher XLS is a pain but I would say it’s super complicated. I haven’t built a truck or tank yet so I can’t say about them.
little is more
Yep!
Your Tamiya videos and appreciation for the history of the Tamiya kits sets you apart and you should really stick to that niche. This video does a disservice to Schumacher's new pro level competition pan car kit which you clearly didn't take seriously.
Or you could look at it from a positive angle, that I’m showing a large number of RC people are type of car that most of them will never have seen before. Some might really like it and then look into the races and might want to give it a go.
@@RCKickschannel I watched this video again and did my best to keep an open mind. You made it very clear that you knew very little about the class and wanted to show something new to your audience but then emphasized how little you get for the money and how difficult they are to drive. Not exactly selling the class. You asked for input from people who race these so I'll offer my experience with the Eclipse 3. The instruction manual is excellent with clear pictures and detailed adjustment information. The Eclipse 3 is competitive right out the box. Very stable and durable. The design in many ways was a departure from the competition. My Eclipse 3 came with a carbon chassis and ball diff. The Eclipse 4 comes with an aluminum chassis and solid rear axle. What else is new on the Eclipse 4?. The choice to go to a unique rear hub design is a bold one. What tire options are available with the new hub design? One issue on the Eclipse 3 was the steering hub could stick at full turn on slight contact. I installed long screws through the bottom of the steering hub to restrict it's range of motion. Has this been addressed on the Eclipse 4? Build your Eclipse 4 and take it to a carpet track and have a fun day of racing. Share some race footage and give your impression of the class from a new racer perspective. Show your audience the fun of the challenging 12th scale class.
That price...
What you are paying for is the development time and every minuscule speed advantage. You don't get more hardcore than these little things.
Yes, and all the more so if people are willing to pay.
Nevertheless, there is the phenomenon of diminishing returns, especially for a casual RC hobbyist. I don’t have an onroad track near me so my threshold is much lower.
I tend towards the lower-priced and less specialized kits as they’re easier to roll out of if necessary.
A backdrop of stagflation doesn’t help matters.
