    another theory - he's an AI that's trying to make V content with letting go of their body, make room for whatever is on the engram, since Songbird proved that Johnny isn't the only one who can "talk" (referencing Hellman) to V's meatbrain

    • @cal5242
      @cal5242 4 місяці тому +2

      This is what I felt from the first encounter with him. That he's some sort of 'ware that comes packaged with the Relic to facilitate the transition. Especially as, if I recall correctly, Johnny does not seem to perceive the Zen Master.

    • @OG_Boodaah
      @OG_Boodaah 4 місяці тому +2

      Couldn't be an AI because Misty's computer mentions someone seeing him. Meaning V is not the only one who has seen him

    • @cal5242
      @cal5242 4 місяці тому

      @@OG_Boodaah That's true, that V isn't the only one to see him. But why doesn't Johnny? And Misty, Misty seems to be actively searching for the guy with no luck - and that's with her active interest in esotericism, her shop which you might think would act as a hub for such types yet seems perpetually slow on business, and her honestly fairly accurate tarot pulls. The Zen Master's ability to appear to some but not others, and not necessarily to those who seek, places him in some sort of weird need-to-know category. AI psychopomp, for me, therefore not ruled out. Who's to say the friend emailing Misty isn't dealing with some inner crisis, malfunctioning cyberware, or other end of life condition? Though I don't think it's so cut and dry either way. After V's interactions with him, he remains a White Whale figure to Misty. I wonder if she ever meets him, and under what circumstances? Hopefully nothing too tragic.

    As a game, it does a fantastic job of highlighting the spiritual elements of life, if only because those moments are so fleeting.

      I have. Didn't include that part because I felt like most people already knew about the message on Misty's PC

  • @harenmelan
    @harenmelan 4 місяці тому +5

    The other reason I would point out he isn't an illusion is because Misty's computer mentions someone seeing him, so if he only existed in V's mind Misty shouldn't be getting emails about him.
    The other thing is the elements mentioned are those of classical Western alchemy, except there's a fifth often considered as the ultimate one... that of spirit/soul and that ideally you were trying to work through the others to achieve or alter the soul (the hope of most was to become immortal... that any form of immortality would alter the soul and through it the body). When you consider that and the nature of the Relic it seems not out of left field.

    What if he is a relic engram transmission, like the way songbird is? That would explain why johnny doesnt see him and why he feels like shit after. He is just suppressed every time the monk shows up.

    • @relaxedswede
      @relaxedswede  4 місяці тому

      That would be difficult since only V has the prototype relic in their head.
      Granted different chips exist in Night City so perhaps he can only appear if you have a malfunctioning relic?
      Hard to say, but I like the theory.

    So we know the guy is real, we also know Johnny does not see him at all, could it be that the Zen Master invokes a tranquility in V that allows V to blind Silverhand ? This elevation in mental state might be why

    • @relaxedswede
      @relaxedswede  4 місяці тому +1

      That would be interesting.
      An elevation in mental could also be used by CDPR to make V choose a path that allows V to survive...and maybe bring V back for the next installment

  • @bonelesspizza
    @bonelesspizza 4 місяці тому +2

    I rather think of the monk just as a real person who somehow had knowledge of V and the chip and recognized the situation and preemptively sought V out while also allowing V to be the one to engage with them just by being present where V may come across them. He disappeared in order for the student (V in this case) to sit with their thoughts rather than asking for everything to be explained as V in this situation is the only person who can actually find the answers to their own questions since what they are experiencing is so unique. Meditation and spirituality is being showcased as the human mind and human experience still being stronger than any technology, which is displayed through its ability to allow V to become just V for a while without the need of force like Songbird. Also, with the way the Blackwall is treated as its own entity and rogue AIs being similar to the typical interpretations of demons and other supernatural phenomenon I believe the purpose of the monk is to show that no matter the technology and its power/integral nature amongst a system, (biochip to V's body for example) the human consciousness is still more powerful and able to overcome any obstacle or physical limitation when given the proper resources. The lessons the monk gives are the resources for V to overcome the chip and to retain a sense of being whole. The fact V makes it as far along in the story as they do is nothing short of remarkable and I think the point is to show that the will and determination of a strong person with the fight to continue living is much more powerful than any technology that looks to mimic the same thing (such as the relic). V becomes a legend while plagued with the attack of the relic on their mind and the physical ailments that come along with it and is stronger than they have ever been. The '"mystery" would seem to be the monk and his nature when the actual mystery is how V has been able to hold on to themselves and their mind through sheer willpower when weaker minds would have given in and crumbled at this point.
    That is the way I interpret it at least 🤷‍♂

    Based on the comments, I personally like that more and more players are starting to realize So Mi's demonic nature, the fact that she is a witch. It's a great revelation ))
    ( The diabolical dilemma that Phantom Liberti brings us to - either save the witch from the punishment, or sink into hell with her yourself, with the option to kill her by your own hands or not.)
    Again, based on the comments - don't you think we should do an experiment: find this monk and try to reproduce the braindance WHILE V's mind is connected to So Mi via the BlackWall- and see what happens? There are at least two ways to try this - either in the final act of rescuing So Mi, getting out of the spaceport back with her, or during a heart-to-heart talk with her on a bench in Dogtown. I don't know if it'll work.

    we can know all processes and aspects of life by their elemental behavior.

    think about this one time. I believe that FF06b5 statue are the earth elements. The zen master says these elements can heal you. Along with other things. Also maybe you and others don't know monks do not believe in material items such as money. These are things they give up when living life as a monk. Also I have a data shared from the gig where you steal the clothes from the tiger claws says. That bartmose has not paid his bill for the service to keep his body on ice. So they dump him in garage. So if bartmose is on the net. He would need help from someone to get into the world such as the Zen master body. That is not a good theory. To me zen master would be someone from arasaka corporation. If they the zen master were a proxy.

  • @ihaveadigbick.3785
    @ihaveadigbick.3785 2 місяці тому

    Wait, why is it a *fact* that the Rache Bartmoss body we found in the fridge is false? Yes, Johnny is an absolutely unreliable character and a hardcore narcissist that tends to lie about himself if it makes him look even better and there is heavy evidence that either he heavily misremembers things or his memory was tempered with. But there is no reason for him to lie here, he doesn't even say he knows Bartmoss personally, just that he recognizes his face from the wanted posters. Which makes sense because he was an incredibly wanted man at the time. I also doubt that the guys at R. Talsorian Games would hint at the possibility of it actually not the real body, it seems they just want to make people think more theories about the subject.
    I believe you can also find a shard that possibly explains why you can find the fridge atop of all the garbage and not bellow it. Someone was paid a lot of money to keep this fridge unopened for 50+ years around 2020, the year Bartmoss died. They tried to contact the customer about it but failed to reach them, so they dumped the fridge into the landfill around April of '77.
    Also, the Zen Master has way too few cybernetics for him to look this good for a 85 years old Rache, even with all the healthcare achievements humanity has at this time.
    I believe this is a CDPR inserted character like "Gaunter O' DImm" in the "Witcher 3", but instead of it being a powerful incarnation of evil that likes to mess around with those who it think that deserve it, it's just a benevolent being heavily connected to nature and what's left of it in the world of Cyberpunk. That would also kinda explain why Johnny didn't know about the interaction, magic BS.

    First Experiment Report with Songbird and Monk: If from the Dogtown parking lot, right during the very first conversation with So Mi, you manage to run to the subway station and get to the park, the first meeting place with Monk, and even start a conversation with him, So Mi will still rudely interrupt the conversation and start yelling that you killed Myers! Furthermore, after being hit by the Black wall, you will be transported back to the parking lot. So either the monk isn't going to help against Songbird, or she's stronger than the monk, unfortunately ((.
    P.S. I didn't have time to launch Braindance.

    • @ChiefSmackahoLLC
      @ChiefSmackahoLLC 4 місяці тому +1

      There isn't going to be any interaction or events between the zen master and So mi unless CDPR writes it in and patches the missions. They're parts of separate missions and they just get treated by the game as unrelated events. Efforts to circumvent the location(s) you encounter or converse with So mi to force interactivity with or between her, V + the monk, even if you just console teleport over to the monk will either trigger a conversation restart or a Phantom Liberty plot checkpoint reset from you not being where the mission expects you to be.

      What I unexpectedly discovered, without talking about Zen Master here, is that Songbird can't get through to Vee the moment he talks to Hanako Arasaka. I took Vee out of the chapel in Pacifica, he had a seizure, and Johnny Silverhand dragged him out to Hotel Pistis Sophia. While talking to Hanako, there were two extraneous dial-in attempts (it was So Mi from aboard the Presidential Shuttle), and even Hanako's holo disappeared. However, no NUSA netrunner dares to interrupt Her Highness' conversation with the merc.
      Feel the power of Arasaka!

    There is a notion that cyberpunk 2077 Takes Place during the revelation in the Bible. The song chipping in, “got my back to the wall”, doesn’t that sound a little bit like the Mark of the beast? Then the point that this story would take place in is after all the Christians have disappeared. So what’s left behind? There’s still hope for these people as revelation says and they have time to repent and all this, but the monks play a role in that. You see monks everywhere. You see no Christians or Churches, except for the one you a Judy come across in the bottom of the lake scuba diving but that was from her childhood. In essence, what I take away from it is that the monk is doing some kind of service for God. During that situation in that time and that political landscape, the spiritual people will be in some kind of active spiritual service.

    • @relaxedswede
      @relaxedswede  4 місяці тому +2

      I rarely see a fresh Cyberpunk 2077 theory but this one was very fresh.
      Thank you for that. Personally I do believe that religion has a great role to play in this universe (perhaps even more than the tabletop games).
      There is another church apart from the one at the bottom of the sunken city. It's in Biotechnica Flats and is where you find the solution to FF06B5. At least where you trigger the quest for the final cutscene.
      I'll look into the religion aspect of things some more. It's interesting.

      I'll just add two facts, maybe they will be of some use to someone:
      1. While I haven't personally seen churches in the game (except for the flooded church with Judy), I have encountered flashcards with records of the Coptic Egyptian Church (at Camp Aldecaldo) and the Warsaw Catholic Church (can't remember where). There's quite a bit of information there, but I think it talks about the decline of religion in society at the moment....
      2. When completing the gig "Olive Branch" from Wakako Okada if you bring Alex Pushkin to Tiger Claws, the meeting takes place in a small courtyard behind the Asian food cafe. If you come out of there, go around the cafe moving to the right, there will be little colored holographic stands, right next to the highway. They are so made that no one pays much attention, the drawings are a bit blurry. One of them has a huge demon raping a Christian nun. Why am I writing this? Maybe to the fact that the game is saturated with satanic symbolism, but it is kind of hidden from direct observation?
