Thank you for creating this video. It is the only one I could find on YT that actually showed step by step how to remove the panels. Its great to have a visual reference. I did the procedure about a week ago and would not have known how to start otherwise. It has some tricky steps for sure, but it is doable if you take your time and have patience. My old one was sagging and ripped on one side. The new one is tight almost like a drum. Part was $82 on Amazon.

Thank you for the video, It saved me a whole lot of guess work. One thing I did differently is I had the front edge clips about 2 inches from the rear of the travel and attached the clips and front edge BEFORE mounting the unit. It worked for me. Thank you again it was a huge help

I’m this video at 29:52 there is a pin that comes in the new sunshade that keeps it tight just for install. If you do not remove this pin after install and before moving sunshade it will not allow your new sunshade to work or close all the way. It will close about halfway and retract. Make sure to remove that pin. It’s almost like a pin to a gernade. I saw this pin destroy brand new sunshades
How come Cadillac did not require you take the engine and transmission on the shop floor as well! Respects to you man, this is ridiculous! No way I am doing it even though it may require me to duct tape trash bags to the sunroof!

Is the replacement shade you used an oem or aftermarket shade? 2. About how long did this project take from beginning to end? 3. What was the biggest challenge? 4. Hi @2428rozy. 1. It is an aftermarket shade. 2. The whole job took me about 6 hrs, but remember, I didn't have a video like this showing all the steps. If I have to do it again, It would probably take me half of the time. 3. The biggest challenge to me was removing the clip that holds the curtain to the track and put it back on. 4. I saved about $1000 if you add the labor and cost of an aftermarket part instead of oem. You're welcome. Thanks for your support.

Possibly even more savings than that. I just took mine in to Cadillac for repair/replacement… $230 for diagnostic labor $1,600 if I want it fixed! I paid the $230 and took it home without the repair. It’s simply not worth $1,600 to me but I am fairly certain I could never do this either so I’ve gone from a luxury suv to a big beige shoebox with no sunroof view!! 😢
You did great on it except it was hard to keep track of your video because you must’ve been shooting it yourself. But I think it’s really important to know how to reinstall everything. What a hassle

It does not show this in any instructions. I watched a Cadillac cts video and he ruined his brand new sunshade because he forced it and didn’t know about this pin.

@@thedigby1995I was able to super glue the piece back on and it worked fine. Not sure if it will work completely broken as the shade needs to be folded back and clipped into that piece.
Shoot i just went to the tint place told them remove it and put the darkest tint they had on the sunroof lol. Yeah man thats a lot to do just for that. Much respect though. I would most definitely lose alot of parts trying to do that. But good video.
When you did this video you didn’t take out the pin or n the shade. If you did you didn’t show it . For someone doing it for there first they wouldn’t know that.😢

Why is it that the parts that are most prone to fail, are the ones that require you to dismantle your entire fricking vehicle to fix?

How did you learn this process, is it in a manual or are you in Mechanic or did you have to replace this thing more than once?
that's a lot of work for a sunscreen! I tinted my sunroof dark with ceramic tint and now just keep the screen open and don't mess with it.

I just put a couple of sunshade in the track and it works better with the silver side up toward the outside and made the car 15 degrees cooler

You lost me where you detach the front of the shade from the rail. When you power it back it's hanging off one side.
