    There needs to be a class action law suit against Cadillac GM on this issue. Or at least a petition for a national recall on this problem.

    Thanks for this video. 8 months ago I paid a dealership $549 to fix the leak issue. It leaked again this week and when I called them they told me there is no warranty on this work since no parts were used. I watched your video, went to Lowe's and for $10 the drain will never leak back into the cockpit.

    Thanks you for the video. After all these years it's still helping more of us! I did the passenger side on our 2010 SRX. Wasn't having any success getting the tube extension to go through the hole in the firewall so I made a diagonal cut on the end of the tube making a point at the end. The pointed end easily went into the hole and the rest of the tube followed. Like threading a needle! Thanks again!

    I have a 2011 SRX that started leaking water into the floorboards last year. Have watched videos on how to unclog drain tubes using weed eater line. Did that for about a while but lines keep clogging up and water running into the cars interior. Was completely fed up and decided to really fix the problem. Your video was SO helpful. Went to Lowes and got the tubing and connectors and it works GREAT! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VERY HELPFUL VIDEO!!!

    Hey Jeff thanks for the quick video about this frustrating problem. We have e the 2010 srx and as I was detailing the car I did notice that the floorboard was wet/damp. Then it rained pretty good yesterday and after it quit I went back out to check my work and noticed water on the floor on the passenger side and could see where it was indeed coming from behind the glove compartment. Upon researching the cadillac forum and Google I stumbled across your video here. Thank for taking the time to do this and giving the hose size. I went down to a local hardware store here in Fairbanks and picked up a length of the clear hose and the coupler. Going through the engine compartment was the way to go and made it easy. This video saved me probably over $250. I paid $3.75 for the hose and coupler! I checked the corner where the drain is in the sunroof area and it looked clear. But I hear that is how come they pop out is because of them getting clogged. Anyway, thank you.

    Thanks for the video! I literally just finished my repairs on both sides. The one on the driver's side was popped loose to and a hand full threading the tube into the hole but I got 'er done. Also located the a.c. drain plug on the floor under the upper console closer to the driver's side. Had standing water all around the plug. Popped it and let it drain onto the ground💃so happy!

    DUDES!? WHY?? Don't put a *bottleneck* INSIDE your drain tube. Why put the barb INSIDE of a drain tube? You've now done two things: A) You NARROWED the diameter of your drain tube because the barb has a narrower inside diameter. And B) You've created a good spot for a clog, not "if" but *"when"* debris collects in that sunroof drain channel and then into that tube, it will hit the lip of that barb and over time 'could' collect there and create a clog/backup/leak - which is what you were trying to avoid in the first place. Those drain tubes are already known for occasionally clogging in their original form... So, adding the internal ridge in that drain tube only adds to that possibility. No, it might not happen - but, from an engineering design perspective, there's no point in increasing the odds that it could.
    NOTE: You can already see water collecting inside of the drain tube right on the lip of that barb on the side of the barb that faces the sunroof.

    Great Idea, I don't have this problem for the front floorboard but I want to do some prevention for the front and rear. Thanks for your video. My issue is some water accumulating in the trunk. Too bad there isn't a drain plug right there where the water accumulates to help prevent that puddle. I was thinking about drilling two small holes one on each side but I see the gas tank is right there so I need to find out if there is enough clearance between floor board and the gas tank to safely do it... or not. Have you done your rear drain tubes?

  • @EricoBlake

    Thanks for the video! My question is, why are we all having this problem now at about the same time? My 2011 was fine since I bought it new, and only now these tubes have started leaking or clogging (I also experienced problems with the back tubes, which flooded the liftgate basin and rusted the electric liftgate motor to paper-weight status). Did they just install tubes that last 7 years or something?

    • @FernandoRodriguez-ds5ri
      @FernandoRodriguez-ds5ri 5 років тому +1

      I’m having the same issue on my 2011 SRX. I am having water fill up my liftgate cabin where the module is located. What I did was drill to quarter inch holes to drain the water. But I hear water moving inside the top sidewall on the driver side. I recommend replacement of the lifegate module and then installing the new part higher than where it was previous installed. This will keep water from reaching or flooding the new part.
      So my question is how do I fix the tubing on driver side. Thx

    • @jhjsteffen
      @jhjsteffen  5 років тому +2

      LOL. I chalk it up to poor design.

    • @EricoBlake
      @EricoBlake 5 років тому +2

      I spent the money to get the dealership to fix it. They did what you said, moving the new module to a spot that wouldn't flood and drilling holes for any excess water to drain. They also flushed all the tubes. Expensive, but haven't had problems since. It's about paid off now so I plan on keeping it, but it's still shitty they never did any kind of recall or free maintenance for this issue, which as Jeff says below, is poor design

    Or.....if vehicle comes with any warranty of some sort...( In the state of Michigan there is no lemon law on used vehicles unless an expressed written warranty was issued at time of sale > holler lemon law and the dealer you bought this awesome stylish junk from will fix it for free) Also after all the water damage to this vehicle full of electronics (GM has no recall) y'all may get a plethora of codes like P0442, P0445, P0017 don't panic...it's not a Cadillac thing, its an "All 2010-2012 model years same frame/body style and engine (3.0liter v6) vehicle issue, for GM released quite a bunch of them before finally fixing all the issues in 2013. :-( Don't believe me? Joseph Schneider ...I must disagree , GM has been a design and engineering nightmare since around 99-01 and they have been on a steady downhill roll ever since with the current models being absolute disasters.....I am an engineer and " trouble shooter" for 20 years and get brought in on thing's like this during model year changes , the fix is always figured out but rarely implemented by GM as they see it as $$$ down the road....avoid anything GM at all costs!! too many other companies make a better product.....just the facts...
