The only reference to Ash’s birthday was in the Pikachu and Pichu short, where at the end he says “This is the day we first met; the day we first became friends.”
There was an episode where his mom mentioned it's been over a year

I remember a couple of times they acknowledged a year has passed, but either stick with him being 11 or go back to him being 10!
It's sad to see Ash and Pikachu leave after so many years of watching their journey. I look forward to seeing the new series!

It's so weird to think ash's journey is finally over. Like he's the immortal 10 year old, it's so bitter sweet. On one hand it's nice we get a new protagonist but on the other ash was the person that united generations of pokefans

Watching this since I turned 4 and I’m 21 now. Haven’t kept up since mid XY, but it still hits hard that a part of my childhood has finally bowed of the stage. Thanks for everything ash, it’s been fun.
Given his Pokemon Master epiphany is to befriend as many Pokemon as he can, I think he'll become a Pokemon Ranger.

There’s something cathartic about this final episode. I remember when Pokémon first came out and being obsessed with it. I eventually lost interest and fell out of the fandom but my little brother soon got into it, and I got to reconnect with him by watching the the old and new seasons with him as well as play Pokémon go on my phone. I feel like I grew up with Ash and now he’s moving forward with his life along with me.
I haven't kept up with the series, but I grew up with it back when I was in school. It's surreal to look at where my life is now and think that Pokemon no longer stars Ash and his Pikachu. We've all come a long way. It's funny that his departure coincides with my mom moving out of the home I grew up in as well, it's a one two punch. I haven't been a kid in a long time, but it feels like two chapters of my childhood are finally coming to a close all these years later. I'm not sad, all things must come to an end someday, but it is a stark reminder that time moves ever onward.
It's sad to see Ash go. But it's also kind of funny to know that in any future series, the OG pokemon master is still out there exploring the world (assuming his infamous sense of direction doesn't have him lost in yet another forest biome~)

The Pokémon master question I guess is something left to everyone’s interpretation. It can be anything, if the trainer believe they achieved that role. To me it’s an all in one. Being unbeatable, understanding & befriending/catching Pokémon, and completing the Pokédex. Something that seems impossible to achieve, but can be possible to those that are that dedicate. A Pokémon master work is never done, as long as there’s a new goal.
Someone rewrote Ash's final arc and stated that a Pokemon master is someone who cares for Pokemon.
...I know it's weird, you should watch the rewrite to learn why the author states that.

Well, since you asked, technically, Ash never celebrated his birthday on screen, but time did pass and yet it also didn't. You see, in season 4 while the gang was in Golden Rod city there was a train track that would take a year to build and by the time of the end of season 15 it was revealed that the train was completed, so a year did pass, over the course of 11 seasons. And then at the end of season 22 Professor Burnet was pregnant, and when Ash met back up with her and the rest of the Alola gang a decent way through season 23 she had her baby and he didn't look like a fresh new born, he was at least a few months old, and assuming the pregnancy took 9 months that would mean at least another year had passed between season 22 and 23. So Ash should be 12 by now, but then season 24 had an episode that stated Ash was still 10, so the only logical explanation is that Dialgia the Pokemon that controls time keeps getting drunk and resets everyone ages.

I have grown up with the Pokémon anime and it is so disappointing to see him gone. I may have stopped watching the anime like 5 years ago, but I am glad I watched him as a kid all these years

I was half expecting to hear (the time has come) on this. Really gonna miss ash! He made our childhood memories awesome!

I still need to caught the remainder seasons, but still it’s an emotion moment to see Ash and Pikachu’s journey coming to an end.

After 25 years, Ash had decided to retire. From an Interview Ash answers a lot of questions. Here are the answers to two questions.
Interviewer: "Ash, what are you planning to do after your retire?"
Ash - " A lot of things including searching for your father.."
Interviewer- "Why you are searching for your Father, Ash?"
Ash- "Well, my father owns my mother and I a total of 25 years of back child support."
Its so sad and weird to think that ash and pikachu aren't gonna be the main duo, i'm 24 and litteraly grew up with the show to think that i'm no longer gonna see them is like saying goodbye to my childhood friend u know......oh god we are saying good bye to our childhood

I still feel like they should've done this sooner, cause the impact wouldn't have been as intense if they did, at least Ash went out on a high note, designated as the world's strongest trainer, if they had tried to reset him again after that, I would've been done. I know the show's overall message was that the "journey is more important than the destination" but when nothing exciting happens along the journey the story falls flat, constantly resetting Ash and never letting him win a league did get boring rather quickly (his side accomplishments of the orange island league and battle frontier not really doing much for him), and the transition from Sinnoh to Unova was the worst of them all, when he won the league in Alola, it finally reinvigorated me to take the show more seriously again because it opened pandora's box, and now he finally gets to battle with champions and is the strongest trainer in the pokemon world.
I'm sad he's leaving too, but i'm also excited to see what the new characters bring to the table, though judging from the pretext's given so far, it does look like another world tour style saga, though I do hope Paldea does get some representation besides the starters. It's no surprise Galar got cheated over, but then again Sword and Shield don't have much story to them, at least not to the level of impact other games do.
Haven't seen the episode itself myself yet (technically, haven't watched Pokemon since early X & Y because the "the future is now, thanks to science" jokes irritated me too much), but, even then, I don't think it will set in that it's over and I won't know how I feel until the English dub.
I do love that they actually finally remembered Pidgeot and not only brought him back but that he's now travelling with Ash again.

Honestly I'm sad to see my childhood hero leaves I would love to see him again in the next show
I love how it ended with "the adventure continues." Thats a great way for some series to end. Also we better see best tsundere boy Arven at some point
it's pretty wild that the day has come, but tbh i never thought that they'd switch to a new protag on us, especially after all these years.
Its not outright stated but as someone else said, Ash mentions in the Pikachu and the Pichu brothers short that was on the Third movie VHS (I think) that its been a year that day since he and Pikachu first met and started their journey together so its implied thats his birthday.

I can’t really say much since I haven’t really kept up with the Pokémon Anime series. I do remember the original series being a big deal and the trading card came was a popular thing while in middle school. Never played it either but can respect how much of an affect it had on pop culture as a whole since it’s inception. It took 26 years to wrap up Ash’s story. That a long time and it’s nice to let the franchise move forward with new characters that newer fans of the series can enjoy etc.

I love the implication that Pidgeot is gonna be one of his main mons (along with Pikachu) during his new journey. This is gonna make up for all their lost time

XD Well in the uniform's defense, Scarlet and Violent did turn into Made in the abyss towards the end of the main story, I'm just like. "Okay where's that glasses girl and her cyborg friend that everyone wants to violate so we have some nightmare fuel traumatic event to happen only for the next arc to start and they all act like none of that happened."
Ash went one way, we went the other! Its happened before when the gang splits up, but I never thought we'd be going in the other direction!

I'm absolutely positive that the new series is going to be it's own set story. aside from the starters Gen 9 is once again gonna get shafted BIG TIME. oh wow just like how Gen 8 got completely shafted and was reduced to just a special.
Fans are never sad when they have to play as different characters in each core Pokémon game. I do love Blue (girl), Hibiki, Kris, Haruka, Hikari, Touko, and Mei.
It is sad to see Ash and Pikachu bond from the anime. But I will say they gave us a good long journey but I think for me it's my time to bow out from Pokemon not because Pokemon sucks or anything it's just that now that Ash is gone there's nothing holding me here to watch Pokemon or support Pokemon like that and it's not in a bad way it's just like you know the baton has been passed in the new generation. But I would love for them to have their like a side anime thing kind of like Pokemon and to be a Pokemon Master where you just have Ash Brock and Misty on a journey throughout all of the regions and just capturing different Pokemon and just having Pokemon sun or something like Pokemon Chronicles where we get to follow some of the side characters and their little story plots and stuff like that and you can have Ash in some of the episodes and I all the episodes but that's just what I was thinking.
If you go by the anime and all the movies yes by the end of the first season of the anime the narrator did say it been one year since ash started his journey then there the beginning of the the 3rd movie short where we meet the pichu twins which ash stated that it been 3 years since ash met Pikachu of course he regress back to 10 around sinnoh.

@@RyutheWeredragon i've not seen pearl or advance shippers (or whatever lilie's is called as those would be the only other ones you could see going somewhere) go to the same extreme lengths as shippers of these two groups do, especially on places like Serebii.

I actually wasn't expecting all that much from the finale. it was just another ok episode just like the entire season. as for the new series I haven't seen an awful lot of it. but from what I have seen. Horizons is giving me major Pokemon RANGER vibes if anything. I highly doubt it'll properly represent gen 9 in any way. If they are going the same route as Journeys did then I'm better off just retiring with ash. I do at least pray that this next generation of the anime can get much BETTER WRITERS tho. it desperately needs innovation instead of just a bunch of random standalone episodes that don't lead anywhere.
