In this life I was born in a Romanian village with traces of the Celtic Culture...now my spirit is ready to go home...Scotland..this music just takes me one step closer.😊 Time to start learning Scottish Gaelic...
remember in 1995, when I stay a few weeks in Eire, one of the most impressive times of my life. Amazing countrysides, full of history and full of life and very friendly, warmhearted people. And such music, singing and dancing people and Guinness in pubs... I must visit the green island again as soon as possible...
I believe I found the name of the last song where Julie is singing, it's either that or I found this same bit on another track... Tha Brogan Ur Agam a - Nochd(Live) Julie Fowlis Live at Perthshire Amber
Hvenær ætli ég verði svona fær á flauturnar mínar???? elska flautuleikinn hjá henni :) When am I going to play this perfect on my flutes ???? I love this music ♥
Julie originally came from North Uist. Gaelic is spoken by most locals there, and also on the Isle of Lewis,Harris and Skye. What a lovely piece of music, it makes you proud to be Scottish.
That looks like an Ormiston Whistle.....African Blackwood and Sterling Silver. If it is, I really like the sound. I'm a huge fan of Goldie's but this sounds great.
@donaialbo You are on the right track... Research Julie Fowlis, she is recording the old Celtic or Scotch Gaelic music. Another good website is: Thistle Radio. Lot's of good music there...
This lady is a treasure of Scotland, no equal unlike Scotch whisky, which in blind ratings sometimes comes off short measured against Japanese distilleries!
His name is Duncan Chisholm he's on UA-cam with other Scots and Irish artists and he also has a large body of his own work and compositions on here simply type in Duncan Chisholm and you 'll find him and others to take you on a Celtic journey
His name is Duncan Chisholm he has a large body of his own work on here too. When he plays along with Jarlath Henderson ,Julie Fowlis ,Sharon Shannon,Ali Hutton ,Ross Ainslie ,Conal McDonagh Muireann NicAmhlaoibh, and so many more Scottish and Irish singer/musicians it really blows me away how talented they are. Also bands like Skerryvore and Skipinnish. Try typing any one of those names into the UA-cam search box and it'll open up a whole Pandoras box of so many talented people.
Darling sunshine where are you............. your voice and flute sounds me same. Its like walking besides you... and watching your side pose while walking all the way.
I'll bet you they are actually quite cheap to make, it's just that every instrument brand knows what their brand is worth. Apart from the whistles and flutes, I play saxophone, and I own a Selmer horn. The thing is about a thousand euros overpriced, at least, comparing it to other brands, but Selmer is famous so everyone will pay. So did I... (although I didn't do it because of the brand of course :) )
The oldest historic records point to Ireland. But,that only lends weight to the Irish origin...it doesn't rule out a Scottish one.The majority tend to think Ireland, but there are a greater number of players in Ireland. Anyone's guess,John.....and it really makes no difference to me. It's a fine instrument where ever it came from.... My current drum is Scottish btw! Purchased in Aberdeen.
amichan119 I have watched Arab tribal musicians in last year or two in Middle East play same type drum, made with camel skin. Goat skin back home I think.
Julie Fowlis is an amazing singer and a skillfull tin whistle player. Thanks for the video.

@blitzburgh212 she is Scottish. the language she is singing in is Scottish Gaelic, an ancient language!
Wow, brilliant! Such good and crisp ornamentation by the whistle player!
Julie originally came from North Uist. Gaelic is spoken by most locals there, and also on the Isle of Lewis,Harris and Skye. What a lovely piece of music, it makes you proud to be Scottish.
Gaidhlig is also spoken in South Uist, Eriscay, Barra and Vatarsay. Was there a particular reason you omitted those islands of the Outer Hebrides?
Wonderful music and musicians! But the last tune is not Isaac's Welcome to the World, by Duncan Chisholm, but an old traditional Scottish reel.
@kevinmeehan71 the name of that tune is called "Peter Byrne's". Great tunes and lovely Julie :)
That looks like an Ormiston Whistle.....African Blackwood and Sterling Silver. If it is, I really like the sound. I'm a huge fan of Goldie's but this sounds great.

This lady is a treasure of Scotland, no equal unlike Scotch whisky, which in blind ratings sometimes comes off short measured against Japanese distilleries!
sbranagh1 BOLLOX
Ha ha ha. Great comment. Very Important to make a point about Japanese whisky.

His name is Duncan Chisholm he's on UA-cam with other Scots and Irish artists and he also has a large body of his own work and compositions on here simply type in Duncan Chisholm and you 'll find him and others to take you on a Celtic journey
Elle ne fait pas que chanter magnifiquement… Rhââââ j'aimerais bien jouer du tin whistle comme elle !
@acousticems Just noticed that she sings a bit in this one, but she showcases it more on other tunes. Anyway, she is certainly very talented.
Fowlis and Chisholm, only Donnie left to wish for here.
@acousticems Check out some of the videos where she sings. She has a wonderful voice.
That last faster tune is not one of the 3 tunes listed . . . anyone know what it is?
Mo Chuachag Laghach (My Kindly Sweetheart) The tune listed, Duncan wrote for his son.
So called pop stars can take their auto tune and stick it where the sun don't shine, because these real musicians performing here are raw talent.
I've seen her live twice, you will not hear a better voice
@@philhill9219 Absolutely, Julie is an amazing singer.
in which key is the tin whistle? thanks
Where can I get sheet music for that whistle???? What are these tunes?
Great! The sound of this fiddle player is fantastic, does anyone know his name?
Yes, isn’t he fantastic? It’s Duncan Chisholm.
@@kaeleighsmith8324 yes!! Thanks!

Whats the name of the tune??
You know, i'm not British by blood, but my God this music tells me my soul comes from the isles
If you're human you belong.
The most commonly-bought widely-used whistles are in the key of D

Savage!
OMG, Please do a cover, I beg you!, It's been 8 long years. Se que puedes hacerlo !
Darling sunshine where are you............. your voice and flute sounds me same.
Its like walking besides you... and watching your side pose while walking all the way.
anybody know what chords or tuninng play guy on the guitar?? It's DADGAD?
Just to be sure, You don't think Jack Daniels was the first whiskey do you? If not then I agree with you but my comment still stands true.
@roenickolai She's married to the guy on the far left of the stage (Eamonn Doorley)....and the mother to his child!
❤️
Mae hi wrthi eto! Da iawn
whats the name of the song she sings at 3.44?
"Mo Chuachag 's Laghach Thu" (My young girl, you're pretty)

Nice touch of Irish. The remnants of highland culture.
The 'massive cello thing' is a double bass!!
+mlsmusic11 tres drole, but true!!!
what is that massive cello thing?
That is called a Bass.
Judy Dick
what is that massive bass thing
double bass,
is she irish or scottish?
Stu Chisholm? Wouldn't that be Duncan Chisholm? (Freakin' amazing, in any case)
@bunionfeet1 But one of the oldest you'll find anywhere in the world! ;)
She can play bagpipes too!
oops, yeah. Duncan. Maybe I was mixing him together with Stuart Eaglesham.
420. nice.
He's right though, Whisky is Scottish, Whiskey is the Irish spelling.
Never seen an 'e' in it here except on bottles of Irish stuff.
lowemk
The drum like instrument is a "Bodhran" (pronounced Bowrawn) They originate from Ireland.
amichan119 or scotland?

The earliest reference is in Wexford,17th century.
amichan119 I have watched Arab tribal musicians in last year or two in Middle East play same type drum, made with camel skin. Goat skin back home I think.
Sure...Goatskin is most common. Some use Calf, but Goat is the norm,so.
@swelsher
LOL;-)
baby instrument!
And she sings in Scots Gaelic, not Irish.
News... Scots gallic IS Irish.
But so what.. We re the same people.
