- The gaelic song Fuaim A Bhlair originaly from Runrigs CD Recovery from the year 1981.
Here brand new covered from Julie Fowlis in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum Glasgow at 27th Jan 2024 as part of Celtic Connections recorded for BBC Alba. A classic song with a powerfull ending! ;-)
I am genetically German but was raised Scots/Irish. This music moves me just like "Highland Cathedral" written by a German musician.
Loved hearing this played at the Euro's in Germany this summer.
The Scots were made very welcome. Such friendship.
Fantastic julie..you make Scotland so so proud , and keeping our music and language alive
Fuaim a' bhlàir, ceòl a' chogaidh
An guth 's an nàire
Air cluasan eachdraidh
Sgith dhan bhlàr, sgith dhan chogadh
An t-eallach 's an cràdh
Air gualainn eachdraidh
[Chorus x 2]
Saighdear mi 'sa Fhraing 's 'sa Ghearmailt
Saighdear mi air raointean Chanada
Saighdear mi 'san Spàinn 'san Eadailt
Saighdear mi 'nam aghaidh fhèin an Èirinn
Blàr nan Gàidheal, an Gaidheal 's an cogadh
An fhuil 's am bàs
Air bràighean eachdraidh
Fuaim a' bhlàir, ceòl a' chogaidh
An guth 's an nàire
Air cluasan eachdraidh
CHORUS X 2
Fuaim a' bhlàir, ceòl a' chogaidh
An guth 's an nàire
Air cluasan eachdraidh
Sgith dhan bhlàr, sgith dhan chogadh
An t-eallach 's an cràdh
Air gualainn eachdraidh
CHORUS X 4
Dìreach àlainn! (Just lovely!) I’m an American who’s been learning Scottish Gaelic for almost two years, and hearing the singing of Julie and other Gaelic-speaking artists was a big part of my motivation and inspiration for wanting to learn the language. Tha Gàidhlig beò! (Gaelic is alive!)
I'm Dutch, and I've started learning Gaelic this week for precisely the same reason. I want to understand the lyrics.
Getting Goosebumps when i hear you❤
What an exeptional artist 👍🏼
I love how the celts celebrate their music, pure fun in every face 🙂
Just beautiful!!! What a wonderful singer and a great ensemble - would love to see more of this concert - going to Scotland in September.....going to Gillies Hill in Stirling to claim my inheritance! - haha!
Julie is our Celtic princes.Best wishes from Celtic Crew Belgrade-Serbia !

A voice to steal your soul
Nuair a smaoinich sinn nach b' urrainn dha Julie Fowlis a bhith às sgoinneile, chluich i a' phìob
Brilliant ensemble and Julie Fowlis is the jewel on top!
If your toes ain't tapping then you are not alive.❤
Real human music!
Greetings from Hellas.
Bhí sé sin go hálainn. Go raibh mile maith agaibh.
Dame Julie Fowlis?
Just brilliant Scottish folk music.
Almost as good as the Runrig original
I used to resort to my conventional wisdom to jump to conclusion that orchestra music is an overdose of dullness and formalization, which produces more dreary than enlightened eyes among its audience. But the moment Julie carried out her whistle sounding heavy connon after 4:25, firing a full broadside of excitement that has always been typical of her folk songs, I knew I was terribly wrong. It isn't the stage or the format that matters, It is the artist and the spirit. But one thing is beyond my belief. The audience weren't stomping their feet to this piece of music. I mean, were their legs fake?
Dear Julie, I have only good memories of your concert at BROSELLA Folk & Jazz 2010 with Eamon Doorley (bouzouki, fiddle), Duncan Chisholm (fiddle), Tony Byrne (guitar), Martin O'Neill (piano, keyboards, bodhran).
Yours truly, Henri Vandenberghe

I love it so mutch!!! Yhank you
That was sublime😊💕💙
Dear Julie why would you need an orchestra if you can shake the world with your voice alone.

Sharing the love. Look at the joy on the faces of all those players and singers. ❤❤
Julie is far too talented and decent to demand she get all of the attention. 💙🏴🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
What a bizarre comment. :/
You clearly haven't been listening at what is happening here...
Beautifull 😁😁😁
Impressive…
Magic magical
Nice one, Julie.
Direach do'n anam ❤❤
Beautiful.
Abair òran! Bu choir dha Julie a’ cuir a-mach barrachd de Runrig covers. ‘S mòr am beud nach robh mi aig Celtic Connections an-uiridh, ach tha mi an dòchas gun tèid mi an ath-bhliadhna airson òrain Gàidhlig brèagha a chluinntinn.
When the violinist smiles at 4:44.
The amazing fiddler Duncan Chisholm
Beautiful Voice

😅🙌😅🙌😅🙌😅🙌😅🙌
So good!
Very weel dan julie
Can the powers that be give me one good reason why they don't ever award Julie a Damehood for her unbelievable services to Scottish culture and music? Not to mention her contribution to preserving the Gaelic language. This oversight is a disgrace.
Chan eil i ag ithe leanabhean marbh.
@@rixubishi sorry I don't understand what this means. I'm not a Gaelic speaker but love it in speech and music. Julie is just perfect at it.
wow
Absolutely stunning and amazing!

Is dòcha gum bi sabaid fosgailte! O Odin, beannaich na claidheamhan a tha air an tumadh ann am fuil nàimhdean! Thor, thoir neart do do làmhan gus claigeann do nàimhdean a phronnadh! Molaibh ar sgiathan, a bhriseadh le sluagh na h‑àird a deas! O Freya, seall air na sùilean a tha sinn a’ tabhann dhut ann am taing!
My grandad spoke gaelic till he went to school and then learnt English as a second language.
