  • Real part - Cylinder mount for Samurai 120 BT30 Spindle
    Video structure:
    PRE OP - A random collection of test cuts using different machining strategies including a slower manual machining style, and slotting with a 16mm end mill. Despite the stock sticking out 120mm from the vise and 130mm gauge length on the tool, the Samurai was able to take cuts many thought were impossible.
    OP1 - The roughing operations were completed using a 3 year old 12mm (1/2") Merlin end mill with 2 chipped cutting edges. Its common in the real world for companies to try and save costs by re using old tools for roughing, so its good to see how the Samurai performs under these conditions.
    Cycle time excluding logo: 11:34 (with room for program optimization)
    OP2 - Facing the other side to reveal the final part. Excess chatter caused by not cutting the bore through the stock in OP1
    *Prototype ATC uses 3D printed components for fatigue testing. Production model will feature titanium components.

      €11,000 without software and without bt30’s and tools that’s about €20.000 for a hobby cnc machine that dances on a desk😂. The idea is creative though👍🏼

    Mir gefällt der Samurai 120 sehr gut. Auch der Preis ist einigermaßen passend (- für 7000€ bekommt man eine Mikron mit Heidenhain und geschlossenem Bauraum) schön wäre noch eine Flüssigkühlung und ein System um nicht den ganzen Raum zu verschmutzen.

    Super interested in this setup. Been working with the Nomad to translate my design/art skillset from AAA games and industrial design to machining. I don't have a use or interest in the super high end tormachs, and the small versions are equally unaffordable. Taigs are basically converted x2 level stuff, and the nomad series are commendable but primarily for woodworkers, the rigidity of the nomad is better than the average but it's 1/4 inch endmill material limitations and 1/8 inch limitations on doc....its just not a good time to be a ferrous and non ferrous metal artist without a sponsor or massive checkbook.

    Why can’t y’all just install a gallon water tank or a half gallon one with a small tube and something that shoots low pressure water at set intervals on the drill bit? It’s not like cleanliness is an issue with literal machine bits going everywhere.

    • @samuraimachinetools
      @samuraimachinetools  Рік тому +2

      Sadly a lot of them think putting bigger linear rails on an aluminium frame will help take bigger cuts. We are selling this machine as a ‘diy kit’ to hopefully prevent people wasting money building their machine from scratch

      @@pcsmachineworks we said ‘a lot’ not all. Also consider you had to design and build the entire machine from scratch. Time = money

    • @pcsmachineworks
      @pcsmachineworks Рік тому +3

      @@samuraimachinetools I would have to disagree with time =money as most diy cnc are a hobbyist affair. But if you dont have the resources at hand I suppose it could be true. Seems you have a decent little machine there and I hope it all works out. I tried to get into the diy cnc market and found that the biggest hurdle was a majority of those involved where in it for the actual process of building the machine. Anyone serious about actual machining will only play with a diy long enough to get a real machine and they don't want to invest resources in anything that doesn't have resale value. Best of luck!
