The dynamic duo will excite Montreal for many, many years. Hage was an added bonus who will be a second line winger and can and will score in bunches. Great draft by Mtl brass and great video coach!
The 2024 NHL Draft Round One worked out virtually perfectly for the Habs. BIG thanks to Anaheim Ducks for selecting Sennecke 3rd overall. That "off the board" pick virtually guranteed the Habs would have either Lindstrom or Demidov. Now with Demidov expected to come to North America in another year the Habs Forward group will continue to slowly evolve. I like the future of the team a LOT more now, but still need to shed a few bad contracts. Great opening day for Hughes and Gorton. Anything else even close to Friday's successes will be the icing on the cake for the 2024 Draft and will erase a lot of the pain endured during the 2024 regular season.

The Habs can’t, since only the player can purchase back his own contract. The player can’t get exterior help.

Next step is for Habs to hire Kovalev to mentor this kid. I'm sure Kovalev would steer Demidov in ways he wishes he was steered when he had the most talent in the league, but a subpar work ethic.

Helenius played in the men's league, world championships, under 18's ect, Helenius has played a lot of hockey and played amongst men. Good pick. We already have a good future line up at defense, and both Montembault and Primeau showed they are the duo we need in goals (Montreal was one of the team with the best goals allowed expected ratio in the league). We need a little more punch offense and to get rid of the few contracts of players dragging us down and we will be an actual, possible contender.
Future goals for this season:
1. Sign Xhekaj and Slavkovsky long term.
2. Get rid of Anderson and Gallagher contracts and try to save some cap space.
3. Trade for a promising, young forward with current/saved cap space; if the team aren't making the playoffs, use trade deadline to try and either get rid of the Ander and/or Gallagher and acquire picks or said promising forward.
Not sure THIS will be the season Montreal makes the playoffs, but I am sure they know where they are going. now if only Dach can stay healthy...
