  • This is a short video I recorded from behind the mixing desk while engineering on the 5th of Feb this year at the Griffin Hotel in Earlestown for 4 piece live band 'The Bowie Room'. The group perform a variety of David Bowie and related material (Roxy Music, T-Rex, etc.)
The in-house PA system was used for this video and the audio is captured from my phones built-in microphone which isn't great and compresses the audio.
The venue at this time is fitted with a selection of McGregor branded speakers and Adlib Audio bass bins (Loaded with replacement RCF drivers). There are also some Peavey HiSys 15" wedge monitors and my custom-built 12" wedge monitors (Eminence loaded).
The speakers are all powered by McGregor branded power amplifiers.
The in-house processing units consist of all analogue outboard. Behringer/Phonic monitor EQs, A Behringer active crossover plus DBX dual 31-band EQ for FOH and a selection of my own compressor / limiter / gate and FX units including DBX 266XL, Alesis 3630 and a Lexicon MX200.
Live multitrack recording is also being performed into Pro Tools using a Tascam US-16x08 USB audio interface and also a live video broadcast + recording using OBS Studio.
The mixing console is my Soundcraft Spirit 8 16-8-2 desk which I refurbished on the channel a few years ago. It is a nice console to work with and I do quite enjoy mixing on it, the full meterbridge is a great feature to have.
I provided most all other items including instrument microphones, cables, DI boxes, etc..
