@@PoYoPigcrafting is one of the main things that earned my sub for this game. It's not the same, "gather mats and hit combine" that you find in other mmos. Crafting has its own gear, abilities, and hotbar. Crafting an item is practically a battle in itself. You can go one of two ways; grab _every_ crafting job and do the omni-crafting route, or pick a couple you like and focus on those. Omni-crafting is the biggest commitment and time-sink, but is the most profitable and (oddly enough) the cheapest. It requires almost nothing out-of-pocket. Picking and choosing is the fastest, but you'll find yourself buying a ton of mats off the market. This is because nearly every job creates mats used by _other_ jobs. It's a great system that offers a breath of fresh air compared to crafting in similar mmo's.
@brandonbigsby2557 crazy, do basically I'll have to build out all those classes too to ensure best gear for endgame and then also have to manage their actions and traits? What's your biggest advice for hot bar management then? What's your favorite crafting job? I was thinking about starting blacksmithing but what would be best for Dragoon?
@@PoYoPig you can get endgame gear without crafting, but it does provide a path. You won't have to craft in dungeons or raids, obviously. All of the crafting jobs use essentially the same abilities, so find a setup that works for you and run with it. Personally, I keep all of my "progress" abilities on one trigger and all of the "quality" abilities on the other. Gathering has its own set, but it's very low-maintenence until you start doing collectibles. For dragoon, carpentry will get you a weapon and armorsmithing will get you armor. Rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracers fall under goldsmithing. Having a crafting job leveled will help you in other ways, too. It allows you to repair your own gear and slot your own materia, without dropping cash at a vendor. It cuts out almost every cost; I started the game from scratch last year and I've _never_ had trouble making gil.

They will tell you what items you can make, what materials you need, how to make any required mats, and even where to gather raw mats. Under any item, hit "X" and select the "search" function. It will tell you how much of the item you have and where it's located (inventory, storage, etc). Once you craft an item once, you can use the auto-craft function to produce items in bulk. However, they will only rarely come out as "high-quality." The game has a *TON* of QoL functions, but it doesn't always explain how to use them. [Edit]: Your retainers are the best way to amass large amounts of raw mats. You can give them any gathering or combat job you have; gathering will get you ore/plants and combat will get you skins and leather. They also act as the game's "bank" storage and can be customized from the ground up, just like your player character.
Also unlike other MMO's like ESO, if you miss an expansion and come back years later you only ever need to buy the latest expansion, all the rest get given to you included. after taking a many years long break from eso it was cheaper to remove the game from my steam account and buy it again than to get all the expansions i had missed separately.
So for xbox they are selling the complete edition for $60. That comes with all the expansions, plus then also the subscription as well. But really still a fantastic deal for the amount of content

I think around 2.2 or 2.4 (not quite sure, it's long time ago) i didn't played it before, a friend of mine talked for month abaout the game and that I should try it. tbh I only startet to shut him up xD and now, here I am...over 9 years later and still addicted . I know Haukke, it is one of my favorit dungeons in arr ( I like morbid stuff). the main reason to play this game for so long are the story , lots of side stuff and of course the community , at least my guild of now over 5 years and an ingame marrige of 7 years . over all I love this game, the world and the fact that you can see the affort of the developers team in every detail of this world.

@@PoYoPig yes there is a wedding in this game ^^ there are three different plans for a wedding in the cash shop, one that cost you nothing (you only need an item from it to get the wedding quest thats why the no cost option is also in the shop) and it includes a non dyable dress or a tuxedo (depends on the gender of your character) and two payed plans one withe a dyable option of the dress and the tuxedo and more options for the ceremony, the third one includes an other version for the dress and the tuxedo too, a 2 player mount and two minions for the guests. the wedding is absolutly lovly and beautiful. after you get your item from the shop, you and you parnter can enter the quest where the both of you getting on a journey around the arr areals to vistit the 12 shrines of the godesses to deepen the bound between you and created your wedding rings. after this the both of you are getting an envelope for wedding inventations wich you can send to your friend so they can join your ceremony and celebrate with you. it' really cute and a big party for all in the most cases ^^
hi i have play ff14 for 5+ years now. for lock on i personally chnage the keybind to lock on to "nearest" enemy. idk if it would work well on controller but this helped me alot

The crystal is all haha we are trying to find that balance between playing all of it all at once super fast and enjoying poking around slowly. We want to get to the good stuff but 10 years of content will take time. We have have a few of the expansions under our belt when Dawntrail comes out 😅
Welcome to Eorzea! I know this is the most common tip here, but do take things at your own pace discovering that world. The story is incredible and I can't even compare it to any other games I ever tried. That said, I struggled a lot to get really attached to it at first. Take as many breaks as you want between the main story quest or when it gets too much. The extra content isn't highlighted enough in this game, be it side quests, deep dungeons or crafter jobs. There's just so much to explore it can be overwhelming, but it's all worth the ride!
We are loving it so far! We are almost done with a Realm Reborn and Heavensward is said to really pick up the story. That being said AARs story kicked it up a notch too, poor noxia got the snot kicked outta her 😅

Oh I've got all sorts of information to share. The problem is more of piecing it out in a digestable format. I definitely like when people asks questions so we can narrow things down. In regard to my own experience starting out, I joined shortly after 2.0, the original release of A Realm Reborn. I had missed out on the 1.0 catastrophe, for better or worse. I was doing heroic (which later became Mythic) raiding in WoW but I played FF14 casually on the side. I've got memories of being embarrassed because I accidentally was using caster gear on my archer (everything is Hunter gear right?) and having some rando literally point and laugh at me. But then not much later, another rando invited me to my first and only FC which I've stuck to in the decade since. I've had friends come and go but it rarely had the level of drama that WoW did, so when I finally gave up on it in Legion FF became my only MMO. I played Bard as my main for a while, raiding in the ARR and Stormblood raid series (was too busy running a guild during HW). Didn't like the direction Bard was taking in Shadowbringers and beyond so I swapped to Summoner/Scholar. In Endwalker I'm trying out different things with Warrior for the main raid series and Sage for my first ultimate (yeah yeah, never got around to it before). I suppose I should note that the convenience of having every job on one character means you can easily gear up that character to play most any and every role for raid, though content that is still current will have a weekly lockout so you do have to be a little choosy if you're on the cutting edge of progression.

It was originally set up by someone better than me so I mostly just focused on raid strats and materials. I delegated a bunch of the recruitment and sales stuff to others, although in the end the human resources side of things is what burned people out. I did play FF in Heavensward, just didn't raid. At the time they did this weird thing with Bard and Machinist where they had to stand and cast like actual casters. It was removed and it's for the best, as that alone would have made me reconsider raiding on Bard. As far as favorite goes, I think Shadowbringers had the best individual impact on me. Endwalker had its good points but it was more wrapped up in the context of all the stuff built up beforehand. Favorite class is trickier for multiple reasons. Each class goes through changes not only every expansion but sometimes during the patch cycle. Each can also be more fun for different types of content or at different levels. I currently favor WAR, SGE, NIN, SMN, MCH for the different roles, though I use White Mage for pvp. Speaking of which, I would note that in Shadowbringers and Endwalker, they will have 'role quests' instead of job quests, and I highly encourage you to have a job in as many roles as possible to get the most out of those quests while they are 'current' for you. I leveled SMN/SCH first as that fills out 2 roles for the price of one.

Dragons Dogma 2 has a trickster class too
@@PoYoPig There isn't a 'trickster' job, I just play everything and don't like picking only one. But the ones I use most are Warrior (WAR), Sage (SGE), Ninja (NIN), Summoner (SMN) and Machinist (MCH). Player guilds are called Free Companies, and where in WoW they are mostly built around raiding, FCs have more variety. Raid groups are called 'statics' and often don't require everyone to be from the same FC. What people DO do with FCs revolves more around the social aspects and how they use the FC house. Some run RP or similar establishments for the public while others are more of a club for friends. Some soak up new players and offer leveling and other bonuses to help them out. PvP works a bit different from what I've seen in other MMOs or 3rd person RPGs. There are several modes that each use different rules, although people can have duels at the docks where the main pvp NPCs are. Frontlines is a 3 way 24v24v24 mode where the teams fight over objectives. It's largely determined by who is the most coordinated mob. There is a 5v5 mode that functions like the FPS payload maps (IE overwatch and team fortress 2). The Rival Wings mode is more like a MOBA (IE LoL or DotA) but each party in the team can summon a giant mech to pilot.
@BananaMellor oh "trickier" 😅 reading is hard sometimes. The 24v24v24 battles sound awesome! I didn't do any of the eso pvp besides duels so I am excited to eventually join the big battles. I like that the FC are more social and fun, that's a nice change of pace Wait so there is a pvp mode like titanfall? 😆 would you say pvp is more end game? Ninja also looks pretty fun too
Take your time, focus on the story quests, that way you don't get bogged down with to far many quests that fun is ducked right out of it. But most of all try the difrent jobs (classes) to find what feels best for you. Best part one character is all. You need, no alts are really needed unless you want a both a guy and a gal. If during the game you decide you don't like how your character looks, race or gender, then you are covered you get something call Fantasia (well two of them) it let's you change you character as much or as little as you like. Just drink one log out then when you log back into the character screen, you have the option to edit them. But most of all just take your time and have fun. Da leggy bunneh folk for the win! ^_^
Heyo, thanks for the advice fellow Warrior of light! We just finished ARR so I am thinking Red Mage or Samurai for the 1.0 before we hit Heavansward. As for changing character I am glad you told me I have to log out because we just got the fantasia but if I used it and nothing happened I would have been a little grumpy 😅
@PoYoPig oh! If you're level 15 and haven't done it yet, there is a small quest line for Little Ladies' Day that gives a free mount. It begins in Old Gridania at Mih Ketto Amphitheater, iirc.
@PoYoPig it's called the Peatie mount. It's a pink gobbue wearing a wreath. It does not have a unique song. However, it has a cute action that involves bunnies.

ah i forgot...your wedding ring are telport items, so you and you partner can teleport to another in the open world as long you're both online x3

Speaking of which, I would note that in Shadowbringers and Endwalker, they will have 'role quests' instead of job quests, and I highly encourage you to have a job in as many roles as possible to get the most out of those quests while they are 'current' for you. I leveled SMN/SCH first as that fills out 2 roles for the price of one.

@@PoYoPig There isn't a 'trickster' job, I just play everything and don't like picking only one. But the ones I use most are Warrior (WAR), Sage (SGE), Ninja (NIN), Summoner (SMN) and Machinist (MCH).
Player guilds are called Free Companies, and where in WoW they are mostly built around raiding, FCs have more variety. Raid groups are called 'statics' and often don't require everyone to be from the same FC. What people DO do with FCs revolves more around the social aspects and how they use the FC house. Some run RP or similar establishments for the public while others are more of a club for friends. Some soak up new players and offer leveling and other bonuses to help them out.
PvP works a bit different from what I've seen in other MMOs or 3rd person RPGs. There are several modes that each use different rules, although people can have duels at the docks where the main pvp NPCs are. Frontlines is a 3 way 24v24v24 mode where the teams fight over objectives. It's largely determined by who is the most coordinated mob. There is a 5v5 mode that functions like the FPS payload maps (IE overwatch and team fortress 2). The Rival Wings mode is more like a MOBA (IE LoL or DotA) but each party in the team can summon a giant mech to pilot.

The 24v24v24 battles sound awesome! I didn't do any of the eso pvp besides duels so I am excited to eventually join the big battles.
I like that the FC are more social and fun, that's a nice change of pace

Take your time, focus on the story quests, that way you don't get bogged down with to far many quests that fun is ducked right out of it.
But most of all try the difrent jobs (classes) to find what feels best for you. Best part one character is all. You need, no alts are really needed unless you want a both a guy and a gal.
If during the game you decide you don't like how your character looks, race or gender, then you are covered you get something call Fantasia (well two of them) it let's you change you character as much or as little as you like.
Just drink one log out then when you log back into the character screen, you have the option to edit them.
But most of all just take your time and have fun.

Heyo, thanks for the advice fellow Warrior of light! We just finished ARR so I am thinking Red Mage or Samurai for the 1.0 before we hit Heavansward. As for changing character I am glad you told me I have to log out because we just got the fantasia but if I used it and nothing happened I would have been a little grumpy 😅
I personally think the games graphics are still beautiful 10 years later
They did choose a timeless design, kinda like ESO but more refined. I am curious as to how much Dawntrail changes the game visually though

@PoYoPig oh! If you're level 15 and haven't done it yet, there is a small quest line for Little Ladies' Day that gives a free mount. It begins in Old Gridania at Mih Ketto Amphitheater, iirc.

@PoYoPig it's called the Peatie mount. It's a pink gobbue wearing a wreath. It does not have a unique song. However, it has a cute action that involves bunnies.

@@PoYoPig it’s not a bad thing for me , I smoke , relax, take breaks etc but I’m only lvl 53 and at times the story really drags and can be tedious.
